Water.

Water - 95 - Breaking.

"......" turquoise orbs stared at his feet as he walked down the street that had recently become familiar. The rain poured from the dark gray sky that loomed over head the bus rumbled away in it's familiar groan. It had been a hot day and the water was a welcome cooling off that dropped the temperature by several degrees.

Young Raven's backpack was slung off one shoulder mostly kept in a state of disrepair. The one shoulder strap he never used looked like it was victim to a cat's claws, barely able to keep itself together despite not being used, the pockets were torn and roughly cutout and half patched sloppily and most of the zippers no longer worked and so whatever he was carrying was likely getting soaked.
His torn blue jeans at the knees were freshly stained with a copper colour and his old grey sneakers were beginning to fall apart from the sole. The black top he wore had grown thin and was tattered at the hem. All these things the very last of his items from back then, he didn't want to let it go, couldn't let go.

The nine year old looked like he'd been living a rough existence, his dirty blood stained knuckles pushed at the door to his apartment building not caring for the pain that seared as he flexed his knuckles. His face stung and hurt in several areas and yet he hadn't seen what damage had been done. He'd been in a fight, that much was obvious and he licked a split lip.

Pretty much soaked from head to toe and half covered in grass stains and mud, he was not a child any human being wanted to come across at that moment and luckily, no one did.
The elevator ride up wasn't too long and out he went thumping his way down the hall heavily, he shoved the key in the lock and turned it, pushing the door out of his way forcefully. The door shuddered as it hit the stopper and swung shut behind him.

Breathe... just breathe.

He seethed as he stood there hating everything consumed by his violent and barely contained anger. Now in relative safety, in a blind rage he took his anger out on everything around him, pictures from the walls flew and crashed on walls opposite, shattering pieces of glass explosively across the wooden floors. The table by the front door where keys, bus pass and sunglasses were usually deposited was gripped and flung into the living room beyond, the small drawer flying clean out of it, the contents lost under the couch.

The storm raged into the kitchen and dishes were thrown and shattered, cutlery flew knives twanging as one or two stuck into the dry wall, frying pans and pots and then with nothing left there he moved into the living room.

Lamps were thrown and knocked over, the coffee table upturned, the t.v. smashed... the dining room was spared no mercy as even the decorative things there were smashed and destroyed.
When all was in pieces around him, when the chaos had come to an end and the room looked like a tornado hit it, he stood there panting heavily. Fists clutched at his sides ready for more and yet needing to catch his breath for the effort it had taken to make the place into such a state of disarray.

A familiar voice softly called his name and he hated her too. He turned on her. It was all her fault!

In a flurry of fists and rage he attacked the much older and taller woman, failing to hit her despite her standing right in front of him. And then suddenly he couldn't move, restrained by a tight hug and ordered to stop. He struggled against her at first and settled finally. His head drooped, his eyes overshadowed and not saying a word.

At least his world, for a few moments, had resembled what he felt inside.

Because she was there, because he felt so helpless and defeated, because his grief had finally sunk in and consumed him, he broke down and cried.

Fire – 60 – Drink
”Go away.” Kaiden didn’t need any more warning as he turned a left the doorway of his own home with nothing on him but his clothes on his back and the weapons that rested at his waist. He didn’t care about being thrown out of his own home, nor did he mind it. Kaiden hadn’t really liked the place anyways so why waste the effort and try to live with people he didn’t like all that well? Kaiden had no problem with being forced onto the street to survive on his own. He had been ready for such a thing for a long time now.

Kaiden didn’t have a place to go or someone who might care about him so he started off at square one, finding a place to stay. He traveled Gaia in an attempt to find a place to call his own, but everywhere he went he found he didn’t like. His traveling was growing harder by the days that went by though as he couldn’t keep enough money to buy essentials to live. Things were starting to get rather grim for Kaiden in his hunt for a place to live and call home. Without a way to get money his health was starting to deteriote as well. He eventually find himself in the city of Durem, but that didn’t help matters for his state of health and eventually it caught up to him. It turned out that traveling without a way to gather anything necessary to survive was a mistake, the greatest one of this being that Kaiden hadn’t been able to get anything water based to keep his body hydrateded. That fact finally caught up to him within the first thirty minutes of being in Durem.

In all honest Kaiden didn’t remember passing out, but he awoke to darkness with someone kneeling next to him. Kaiden found he didn’t have the ability to speak so he remained silent as whoever it was spoke to him. Kaiden’s head hurt just about the worst it had ever in his entire life and he felt on fire. Every inch of him was sore, but that wasn’t what concerned him so much as the inability to even understand the person talking to him. After what seemed like half an hour to Kaiden the person speaking to him finally seemed to relize that Kaiden couldn’t speak. From that point Kaiden was actually able to get the idea across that he needed water, or something like that, as he was dehydrated.

Weither it be luck or not the person, a female now that Kaiden actually could see her better as he sat up, pulled forth a canteen from her side before handing it to Kaiden. Kaiden was careful to drink too fast, but as he drank he started to get rid of the burning feeling he had felt since awaking. On another note his voice seemed to be coming back to him though it wasn’t very good. Kaiden finished off the thing of water before shaking it lightly to make sure it was empty. About that time he heard a light laugh from his savior who took the canteen for only a moment before handing it back to him. For whatever reason it was filled with water again, but Kaiden wasn’t about to think about it as he drank more of the water.

”Your quite the thirsty young man. I think that should hold you off though. There is no reason for you to overdue your amount of water. Here…” The young woman said as she held out her hand. Kaiden handed back the canteen with only a brief thank you as he watched her warily now. Why should she have taken the effort to help him? It was about this time that Kaiden noticed the fact he could see quite clearly in the night. He moved his hand up to his right eye and found the string of bandages he had once used to cover it were now gone. At the ground next to Kaiden the bandages laid. Kaiden could only assume that she had removed them thinking there was something wrong with his eyes, but it was about now he noticed her own eyes. The yellow color to them, and the almost feline look…

“Who are you?” Kaiden asked with a bit of confusion to his voice. He didn’t really know what to do in this situation as he knew nothing about his savior. She laughed lightly before standing up and helping Kaiden to his feet. She held her hand out with the canteen with that smile she had flashed him earlier though he hadn’t been able to see it clearly. Kaiden reluctantly took it before glancing down at the name on the canteen. It was written strange, but his uncovered right eye could read it quite clearly. “Marie…” Kaiden whispered before looking up at her again. Her appearance was still cast in darkness so he couldn’t really see her clearly, but her eyes stood out. He couldn’t tell much about her appearance with the dark clothes she wore which were similair to his own rather dark clothes.

”Yep that’s me. You can keep that by the way. I don’t need it. If you ever need water just ask it. I’m sure it will fill up with water for you. If you need a job you should go to the library of the death goods. See you, Kaiden.” She said it all so fast that Kaiden was left in a state of confusion for a moment. By the time he had relized what she had said at the end she had already taken off down the street leaving him alone on the dark street.

“She knew my name?’ Kaiden whispered as he looked at the canteen. What a peculiar little thing. Kaiden shook it lightly before shrugging lightly as he looked up. She seemed familier to him, but he didn’t know why. It didn’t matter now though, she was already gone. Kaiden took the darkblue string attatched to the canteen before trying to his belt as he looked down the road. Her comment about the some library didn’t make much sense to him, but it wasn’t like it mattered if he couldn’t find the place anyways.

With a final sign Kaiden started down the road with the name Marie filed away in his mind and the canteen of endless water at his side.
