[now back to the topic...]
Blythe and Derek stood at the edge of the forest, gazing into the depth of the woods. Leaving the forest seemed unreal to Blythe; she was born and raised in the temple at the heart of the land, and has never explored the world beyond the everblooming trees. She wondered if they will make it, just the two of them against the whole Empire...
She took a deep breath. "Are you ready?" She asked Derek.

"I don't want to leave it unprotected," Blythe said reluctantly. "But i have no choice. Though I love the forest, there is no one i'm personally attached to in the forest. Therefore I am free to go when i wish." she looked at Derek. "What about you?"

Derek nodded. "pretty much the same. I wander in and out of here because of business and I know a few people here but I don't really have a life here. but I always come here when I can." he fiddled with his belt strap on his leather vest. "ok, so last time i checked, which was about a month ago or less, Lord Grothwern lived in the city about twenty miles south of here. Living off the fat of the land-" Derek suddenly got the mental image of him shoving a knife into Lord Grothwern's gut and the feel of the fat under the blade. he involuntarily shuddered. "anyways.... we should make it there by tomorrow i think."

Demitrius was running away- again. *dang, won't these people ever stop!* he screamed in his head. he tripped over a big tree root and fell flat on his face. *goodbye, everyone, goodbye Victoria, i enjoyed the small amount of time i was able to spend with you!* The guards picked him up and dragged him away.

Derek saw some guards, dragging a miserable looking fellow out of the forest. "Ah!" Derek turned to Blythe. "I'll be right back, i promise." Derek said. He jumped off the little ledge that they were standing on and landed softly on the leaf covered ground. he sneaked over to the guards and quickly knocked all four of them unconscious.
Demitirus clapped. "well done, my friend. thank you for your help it is much appreciated-"
Derek cut him off. "Why did they want you? Where were they taking you?"
"Why they wanted me is none of your business though i'll let you know i committed no crime. As for where they were taking me probably to the Kings Palace, or to Lord Grothwern's Manor." he replied.
"Why would they take you there? What good is a pervert like you to the king or someone like Lord Grothwern?" Derek asked.
"hey now! I'm not like that-"
"just answer the question." Derek pressed, slamming Demitrius against a tree.
"I told you before, i owe you no obligation to tell you why i'm valuable." he repeated.
Derek looked back at Blythe. "mind an extra person?" he shouted to her.
Demitrius gawked at him. "What?! I'm not going with you! you can't make me!"
Derek lifted the thin man higher into the air, scraping him a little against the tree.
"Then again, maybe you can make me, but come on! I've got a wife! with a child on the way!"
"no you don't."
"Fine, i don't but what good am i to you? i'll just slow you down!" he pleaded.
"probably, but if you're so valuable to them, i'm sure that you'll be valuable to us. do you like Lord Grothwern?" he asked.
"You kidding me? that fat, pig who has never lived an instant in discomfort? and makes us suffer? like heck I'd like him!"
Derek smiled, "Good, then i'm sure you'll be willing to help us." Derek placed his feet back on the ground and led Demitrius away.

Blythe looked at the two men in half amusement. A bit of entertainment is never bad, especially when you've got a lot on your mind.
"You are welcome to join us, mortal." She said, with a small smile. "What is your name and what is your profession?"

"My name is Demetrius," Demetrius said sheepishly, "And i don't have a profession. I wander around, doing odd jobs for people, trying to lay low and whatnot." he said.

Derek rolled his eyes. "He's a womanizer. Oh, Demitrius, if you mess with her... well- i wouldn't even think about it." Derek slapped his shoulder, making Demitrius fall forward a couple of steps.
