Dr. Fionn furrowed his eyebrows at the simple question before replying, "Don't you remember watching those documentaries on the astronauts in outer space? Sometimes they would show a section of them repairing the outside, wearing a space suit that was connected to the aircraft with a long tube..." He paused for a second, remembering those videos himself. Those were the things that helped him realize how much he loved space, and they were the inspiration to make him the man that he was today. "Well, I constructed something similar of the sort. Although the outer space is weightless, I still think that the space suit is a tad bulky, therefore, I let Freya design our new space suits. The fabric sticks to your skin, covering every part of it, and with the kind of material that Freya used, it uses your body heat to keep a stable temperature for the human anatomy and keeps the freezing weather in space out. I, myself, designed the helmet, which is only a simple clear, glass globe that fits any type of head. Again, it works with body heat, and when it feels a mass of pressure press against it, like someone pressing their head against it, it opens up and circles around the object. It's quite confusing to explain, so I'll show you how it works later," Dr. Fionn explained, planning to have a workshop with them once they were stabilized in space. It was at that moment when he heard the door slide open. He turned his head to view who it was, and paled when he saw that it was a red faced, and furious Freya dragging along a scared Elizabeth. "What happened?" he questioned, a tad bit frightened at the answer. "What happened?" Freya screeched as she walked right up to her cousin. "That little pink haired mongrel is what happened! You should kick him off your ship, chop him up, and burn him into little pieces!" Dr. Fionn sighed and put his palm to his face, something he felt like he would be doing a lot more often now that Freya would be going overboard with Niamh. "Really Freya, you don't have to get so angry at him for wandering around the ship. He was only curious," he stated, not knowing that there was more to her anger. "That's not even important compared to what he did to me!" she shouted, slightly angered that he would think that she would get that angry over a little thing. Well, I mean, I guess I would, but that doesn't matter, she thought with a scowl before she opened up her mouth to spew out accusations. "That little butt munch kissed me! KISSED ME! He's a ***** and you should burn off his lips for tainting your perfect-little-angel of a cousin!" Freya stated with a deep frown. "Kissed you?" he repeated, watching Freya's head bob up and down, agreeing to his statement. Dr. Fionn couldn't help it, he burst out in laughter. "That's why you're so angry?" her face grew even a darker red, if that was even possible, and punched her cousin in the stomach. Of course, he didn't feel a thing (working on a ship does gives you good fitness) and continued to laugh, holding his sides to prevent falling apart to pieces.

Niamh felt that it was somewhat ironic that the woman had made it there before he did. Heading inside the lobby area of where they had first came before he had decide to wander off, he manage to catch the last of her words and the resounding laughter of the doctor. He suppose it was somewhat amusing in a way, but the fact that the stupid girl had went off and order the ship to shoot him still annoyed him nonetheless. Heaving a soft sigh, he pulled his hair securely over his right shoulder and cleared his throat upon coming into the room.

Elizabeth allowed herself to be pulled around, her mouth kept shut for fear of angering the girl who was tugging her along. She bruised easily, and frankly, she wouldn't be surprised if she had bluish wrists by the time the "tour" was over. But, when the pink-haired guy kissed Freya suddenly, a small smile formed on Elizabeth's face before dissipating once more for fear of those laser beams also being aimed at her. And off they were once more, now to the lobby where they suddenly stopped movement, and Freya began to tell Dr. Fionn what had occurred only moments ago.
But his laughter caught her off guard, and she watched in amazement, his smiled, and listened carefully to his laugh, things that seemed so unnatural to him, to the man whom her father had briefly told her was so serious and so mature. And so this was noted in her memory, the freedom of the moment and the emotion that was held in this man that stood before her. She would remember it, and perhaps later, it would not come off as unnatural to her.
Devon's hair blew gently in the wind, the bandana that was wrapped around his head, whipping gently against the sides of his face. He had walked all the way over there, the long, scenic way, taking his sweet time, stopping here and there at different bars to take his drinks. He was lucky... His parents had been wealthy enough and he had turned out to be a trust fund baby, which worked to his benefit, as he wasn't planning on doing anything with his life... Not after losing Elizabeth.
He suddenly stopped. Elizabeth... He missed her so much, every day that passed by... The beauty of her jet black hair and her golden eyes that flickered gently in candle light when they whispered sweet nothings to each other. The delicateness of her body and her porcelain skin... Her beautiful smile and her gentle laughter. He could almost hear her again, feel her in every touch of the wind, and hear her footsteps along side his as he walked toward the gaping cave that stood, now, before him. Was he doing the right thing? Or, was he running away from the pain? It almost felt that way...
Running away. It was such a great idea. Leaving earth... getting away from the place, the planet that held the worst of his memories... Like when he closed his eyes... Images of her jet black hair, swirled along with clotted blood, and the placid, glazed eyes... A broken heart that lay beside her corpse so many years ago... And the dust that brushed his feet was her hair slipping through her fingers... And it killed him inside to remember things like that. The flask tucked away in his coat was almost empty, but he grabbed it nonetheless and took the last swig from it.
He lit a cigarette, the smoke blowing gently, along with red dust and when he inhaled, his throat would feel parched. A few moments later he flicked it away from his, ashes littering his sleeve, and he brushed them off before taking a deep breath. "Well... here goes, right?" he said softly before descending into the cave, his feet traveling away from his memories, left blowing alongside ashes, still burning like the pain in his heart.

The sound of the door opening caused Freya to turn her fury elsewhere, towards the person who caused it in the first place. She smirked when she saw some of the singe marks that the lasers gave him, but then frowned when she looked at his face. "Don't think you're safe yet, you stupid man," she threatened as she gave the man a death glare. Dr. Fionn discontinued his laughter when the man walked in, but continued to smile until he saw the damages on him. "Freya Fionn, did you order Astraea to shoot him? And what did you do to his hand?" he questioned firmly, having the aura of a pissed off dad surround him. Freya's inner fire burned out quickly when her cousin doused it with his anger towards her like a bucket of water. She realized that she had gone too far, and now it was time to pay for the consequences, very much like a normal sixteen year-old teen. In a tiny and defeated tone, she managed to squeak out the simple word, "Maybe." Dr. Fionn knew that her maybe was a yes, as it usually was, and shook his head, trying to calm down his anger. "If that's the case, then you are going to have to stay in your room for the take-off..." "But, but, but Daaaaannn!" she whined, and if the last letter of his name were a "d", it would have been very much a replica of a scene that went on day to day in normal households. "But you know that I want to press the take-off button! You even said I could!" she continued to complain, tugging on his sleeve, trying to bring his gaze to her that so he could see her puppy dog eyes. "You should have thought of that before you put your fellow astronaut in danger," he sternly stated, saddening on the inside for he knew that he promised her something that he would have to go back on. He never enjoyed hurting his little cousin for he loved her as much as he loved Astraea, but sometimes, when she got a little out of hand, he had to take some authority, like his father told him to do if it ever happened, and it hurt him as much as it hurt her, possibly even more. He wanted to see her bright smile when she figured out how to make something of benefit to them, and he loved hearing her laughter when she thought something funny, but when she frowned, or cried, it was like a dagger going straight through his heart. "I'm sorry," he apologized in a low voice filled with pain after a while of silence. "You can land the ship when we find land," he promised, hoping that it would make her feel better. She knew that what she had done was wrong, but her punishment for it was something that she couldn't bare. Her eyes teared up, for she had been looking towards this day ever since he promised her that she would be able to press that button, but now it was being taken away from her, like the bright light that shone on hope and been flicked off by a simple finger flipping out the switch. When he finally looked down at her, promising something else, she stared up at him with her gray eyes that were misted over with tears and parted her lips to retort with, "You shouldn't make promises if you can't keep them." With her statement all said and done, she turned around and walked off to her and her cousin's room (#1), planning to sleep through the whole event. As she walked by the pink haired man, she merely looked up at him with apologetic eyes, truly feeling sorry for what she had done, and disappeared through the door.

Elizabeth watched, her eyes turned down, but keeping the scene in her peripherals. Though she wanted so badly to rush out and protect the young girl from Dr. Fionn's anger, for it seemed overwhelming, she stayed in her spot, still looking down. It was strange to see... Was not the man just laughing and smiling? How quick he was to change his emotion that it frightened her. His eyes, though they were cheery only moments ago, were now, as she observed, clouded and angry. And did she detect a small disappointment in himself? Was he angry at himself for being so strict with his cousin?
But, she could see it clearly from both sides. It was clear that the pink-haired man was over the age of twenty, whereas Freya was sixteen... Wasn't that bad in the first place? And on top of that, he had gone against Dr. Fionn's wishes, and had taken his own path into the ship, which she found to be rather foolish. If one is invited by someone, one should have respect for that person, right? And going against that was disrespectful. But, perhaps Freya should be a little looser... Maybe, as according to Dr. Fionn, she shouldn't have overreacted and fired laser beams at him. But, as in the wrong as she was, it was clear that by what Freya had said to Dr. Fionn, the take-off truly meant something to her, and to take that away was fairly cruel.
Elizabeth was not trying to choose sides, no, not at all. Rather, it seemed she was deducing, in her head, what was right and what was wrong, but all seemed either extreme or not extreme enough. She sighed, shaking her head. These two cousins confused her... And, why would she care? Maybe... Maybe she cared because... Well... Because Dr. Fionn knew her father... Becasue it was the closest she could get to him... And if she didn't get close to the two of them, well, she felt like she really did have much left.
Devon boarded the craft that lay before him, hearing the last bit of Dan's talk to Freya. He knew them both, Freya, not personally, but only because Dan only spoke of her briefly. He stood there, in the lobby, apart from al the rest, watching the scene. Watching the girl, Freya, walk away from her cousin and off into the craft, and he frowned, looking up at Dan. "Dr. Fionn, it's been much too long," he said, a gruffy sort of voice, a certain pain but strength mixed into the tone of his voice as his stony grey eyes focused on the man that stood before him. To Devon, Dan looked much the same as before, his hair, indeed, was a tad longer, but nothing much else hanged about his old friend.
On the other hand, it must have been clear that Devon truly did change so much from when they knew each other back at MIT. His appearance was hardened, his eyes more serious and cold, his attitude a bit more a**-hole-ish... Everything about him was much more... Cold and distant. He brushed his hand through his hair, waiting for a reply.

Watching the events as they unfolded, Jacob felt like he was at a well written romantic comedy. He laughed, nearly cried, even got a taste of internal turmoil in the tightly knit family already.
After waiting an appropriate time, he cleared his throat and said, "Sorry to change the subject boss. But I was wondering what the stocker position was. Is it as simple as it sounds or am I wrong in thinking that its something like I'd be doing in a grocery store?" He crossed his arms now and continued, "If it is, then I'm gonna have a lot of free time on my hands." He laughed a little, trying to lighten the mood as best he could. He could tell that just about everyone was uncomfortable by the situation. Fighting between family members had a tendency to do that, at least in his experience anyway.

Dr. Fionn solemnly stared after his cousin, a saddened frown apparent on his features. A few things brought himself back to reality. "Stock means that you will being making sure that certain supplies are always there for the need of others and Astraea. For instance, a simple item would be food, where we keep in the refrigerator in the kitchen, and in mass quantities towards the back of the ship. If you noticed that the food was low, it would be your duty to restock it. A not so simple stock job would be if Astraea's water supply was running low, which will happen. It's your job to figure out how to obtain water through the outer space atmosphere. It is possible, for I know how to do it, but it's something that takes up too much of my time, and I need to be free to steer the ship and make sure that everything is on the right course. If you were unable to figure it out, I may find time to put aside my work to help you out, but hopefully it doesn't come to that," he explained, his face back to the stone cold position that it usually was in when others weren't around. It was then when he heard someone acknowledge him from the opening of the ship. Slowly, Dr. Fionn turned around and slightly smiled when he saw who was standing in the room. "Devon, it's nice to see you again, thank you for coming along with me on this trip," he greeted, going to shake his old friend's hand. It was then when he noticed that his friend had changed drastically. The light that used to shine in his eyes had dulled, and age lined his face, showing the man's past with stress and agony. His posture was much more statuesque, not as laid back as it used to be, and his voice was... how did he say it... chilling. What happened to you my friend? he wondered to himself, his frown returning to his lips.

"Thats fantasic," Jacob says confidently. "I'll have plenty to do then." While the captain seemed distracted, he leaned forward and opened his bag, picking his red bandana from it. He decided to do something about his hair, at least for the time being. He folded it in half, making a large triangle shape. He then placed the long edge of the triangle across his forehead and pulled the tip to the back of his head. Bringing the two ends of the long side to the back of his neck as well, Jacob tied them into a square knot and covered the tip of the corner. He then pulled slightly down on the corner, and tightened it on his head, completing the look.
As he adjusted he bandana, he said, "In that case, how long till takeoff bossman?"

Devon took hold of Dan's hand and gave it a slightly rough shake, his grip strong. "It's not a problem, Dan," he said. The name felt familiar to him when he spoke it, and it was... Nice, he thought... Actually, a rather interesting feeling... In a way, it brought him back to the old days when... Well...
A pained look, for a moment, overcame his face, but as quickly as it had come, it disappeared, and was replaced, once more, by a serious look that gave off an air of indifference. And it was then that he realized that his friend now had a strangely sad frown on his face, something that said that Dan was wondering why he looked like he did now... Why his appearance was hardened, cold, indifferent, and uncaring to the world and those about him. But Devon would try his best for his friend to be the best he could be... He would, at least, allow his friend Dan access to his mind and the genius that his hand and mind, joined together, could deliver. He owed Dan that much, after all the late night studying he would help him with...
"Do not look so upset, my friend... You have, after, created the most brilliant craft of the age... This is what you wanted to do, wasn't it? And you have, haven't you?" he said, a smile on his face, though it looked awkward, hanging there between his cheeks, above his chin, below his nose. It did not look as if he had smiled in ages, the slight creases in his face seemed they wanted to go in a different direction altogether... But, it also seemed he could have pulled it off sometime in his life... Sometime before, in happier days.

Celeste found it frustrating that the second ship shared her name, that would confuse her for a bit. She decided to ask about her job instead of pointing the coincidence out. "Meteorite examiner, so we are actually going to pluck the things out of orbit and study them?"

Kyle watched as the screen popped up before him. Violet optics scanned through the list then and stopped upon reaching his name. Mechanical Engineer and Organizer? It was a fitting job although he still felt unsure of how real everything was. In a way, it all still felt very much like a dream and that at any moment now, he would awaken in his bed- alone. That word itself didn't bold well with him. Alone. Something he dreaded but felt as fitting for someone such as he. Absorb in his negative thoughts, Kyle was startled to be brought of out it when the woman- girl- Freya screeched.
Eyes now focus intently on the angry girl, he blinked at the mention of a pink haired man. He hadn't remember seeing a person of said description but he suppose the male was already gone when he had arrived. Mentally shrugging, he continued to watch as the two Fionn interacted with one another. The blushing face that came with her anger to the mirth that came from the doctor at the mention of a... kiss? Somehow, it amused him and from her statement of being a perfect little anger- it only prove to further his amusement so as said person seemed to be anything but.
Shaking his head, he found himself sitting back in his chair and watching as one event took a turn for another. From the return of the pink haired male to the arrival of another, Kyle felt as if watching a fast pace soap opera, especially with it sudden change in atmosphere and dramatic flare anyway and this new arrival seemed to be the cause of it all. Something about him just told Kyle that this person had been through something that even his own troubles could not possibly compare.
In silence, Kyle was happy to remain although he couldn't help but wish to be somewhere else than stay in the room. The air about them felt as if it had gotten really heavy all of a sudden: a building tension that was in dire need of release.

Turning her eyes away from the scene now unfolding, for it was much to tense for Elizabeth to bear, she was now facing the screen that seemingly told of their jobs, as everyone in the room seemed to attain knowledge of their position from it. She examined carefully and found her name, her hand raising up on instinct to trace a line to her position that she would serve on the journey. "Navigator... and Trainee...?" she said softly, pondering what Dr. Fionn was thinking with that. Yes, indeed, she knew, extensively, of the galaxy that surrounded them, and not only that, but she also knew of other galaxies as well... And she knew the ways into them and out of them... At least, the passages according to her calculations and precise mapping. So, perhaps it was alright with her, though it felt to her that it would be a tough job... If she calculated wrong, they could end up somewhere completely different, and, mercy fall upon them, somewhere completely and utterly lost. Indeed, the mere thought added a pinch of stress to her pallet.
But trainee? What did that mean? Trainee for... What, precisely? Could Fionn not have put that information down too, so that she would not feel like an idiot for asking? And frankly, she didn't much care for voicing things, and rather, she took to staring at the screen, the word "trainee" flashing through her mind. She broke it down, thought of all the possible meanings to it, and still she came up with harsh blanks that made her feel down. Raising her hand as if still in school and wanting to ask the teacher a question, for it was a habit of hers she had never been able to break, she cleared her throat, the softness of her voice seemingly, if only for a moment, breaking the silence. An amazing feat, quite. "Uhm, Dr. Fionn.. What do you mean by trainee?" she asked him, turning to look back at the two men, whose stares had not been broken by any person that had voiced anything at all.

Death is not the greatest loss in life,Gracy sighed as she steered the truck towards the spot marked on the map. "Great... I'm going to be late, what a good first impression," She muttered to herself. Blowing a bothersome strand of hair out of her face, she stuffed her hand into the pocket of her black jeans, pulling out a hairpin and twisted her hair into a neat knot at the back of her head. Returning her focus to the road she realized that she had swerved into the other lane. "Whoops..." She said, quickly fixing the problem. Looking at the map again, she saw that she still had over 130 miles to go. Driving down the seemingly endless road, she passed several indoor agribusinesses and remembered what her history teacher had said when she was seven, that there was a time years and years ago when people could actually go outside without being burnt, when they actually enjoyed being outside. She had scoffed at the idea, but the note she had received from a 'Dr. Fionn' had said that she and several others would try to find a place where that would actually be possible. That had brought many questions to Gracy's mind. Could they actually do it? Was there a place like that?
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Two and a half hours later... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Running down the many flights of stairs into the below-ground building, she was sure this was the right place, the door had the same logo as the map. Opening a second door, she ran into a room with a small group of people milling around and looking at computers. "What did I miss?" She asked breathlessly. "Sorry I'm late!" The greatest loss is what dies inside of us as we live. ((Sorry if this wasn't what you wanted, I couldn't think of a better way to introduce the character...))
