"Oh! Oh no no! It is...I was just..." Kyil stammered as Mikaril began to quickly re-don his armor. He stepped forwards, his hands lifting as if that would somehow stop him from redressing. He felt all...fluttery and flustered and just..well a bit anxious really!!

"Honestly I am sorry! I just...I was put off a bit is all." Kyil's lips curled into a very faint reassuring smile as he slowly crossed over the caves floor until he stood more near to Mikaril.

"It has just...today seems to have been a very long day already hasn't it Mikaril? It's hardly even over I'm sure though. And all this talk of training. I was uncertain what sort of training you wished to begin with. As it is the pressure points you wish to start with I can certainly comply."

He paused and cast his gaze around the cave until he discerned a relatively flat section of the floor. Passing over to it, he lowered himself down to sit and began to remove his own shirt. "If I am to teach you though, I would not wish to use the points on you. It is hard to study something when you are experienceing it. Do you wish to learn only the deabilitating touch's MMikaril? Or would you like to learn all of them? If we work our way up from the basic touch's it will take much longer to learn. There are a great many places and many different ways to determin a proper pressure point..."

Mikaril paused as he watched Kyil stammer, then slowly he began to remove it again, glad that he hadn't gotten very far. "Hey, don't worry about it; my eagerness might have startled you; like I said, I had always wanted to learn something like that, and I had a hard time controlling my excitement." He didn't know who he felt more embarassed for; himself of Kyil.

Mikaril shrugged and then began to do some basic warm-ups and stretches.
"Well, I figured the best way to learn was hands-on experience, but seeing as your the expert, if you don't think you ought to demonstrate them on me, I'll take your word for it." It actually made the points sound all the more attractive, if they were so dangerous that one couldn't even use them in practice sessions.

Finishing his warm-ups, he walked over to where Kyil was sitting and began to listen, the very picture of an attentive student. He felt certain that this new skill would give him just the edge he needed to gain that next rung in the ladder of practiced thievery. It would make him more unpredictable, and more importantly, harder to catch. But most important to him was the thought of disabling a sentry or someone else in his way without shedding blood. For that was something he had yet to tell Kyil; he shied at the sight of blood. It seemed a little soft to him, but he had spoken the truth when he had said he despised getting 'messy' in his work. It was probably just assumed that the reason was that it left incriminating evidence. That was part of it, yes, but after seeing his own blood shed, spurted, boiled, frozen, congealed, drunk, and siphoned in countless scenarios, he had had enough of blood for the rest of his hopefully long life.

Kyil settled himself as comfortably as he could manage on the floor. He felt a chill sweep through him at the flicker of a memory, though he was quick to push it away so he could better focus upon Mikaril. "I do not doubt that there could be benefits to teaching on you. I suppose I am just concerned about scaring you somehow. It was a bit unsettling the first time Calli rendered me immobile. Some of the touchs can cause permant damage if you do not correct them in the proper time frame."

With his warning spoken, Kyil began to speak to Mikaril about the basics of the touches. Starting with a description as to why the touch's worked the way they did. It was important to understand the Why as much as the How in Kyils mind. He knew this would be quite the long lesson, as it seemed to him Mikaril was interested in possibly all the aspects? Then of course there was a discussion of the applications of each touch. Beyond mere defence, there were health benefits that he was quite eager to share. How the touches could stimulate healing and wakefulness when in need. There were so many things to talk about first! Still, Kyil was certain that Mikaril, from his admitted eagerness, wanted to know more then just words. So when it was he got far enough long, Kyil began to lightly touch upon himself where some of the more harmless points were. Which one would numb pain. Which one would render a person's arm limp and unusable for a time. Simply pointing of course would not be enough, so he gestured for Mikaril to reach up his hand.

"Here. I will guide you if you would like. I will position your fingers so you might feel the vein I am speaking of. Then I will apply the proper pressure to numb my arm, all right?"
PostPosted: Thu Dec 04, 2008 9:09 pm

Mikaril listened to Kyil with the same rapt attention he had given his brother so very long ago. It was as though he was once more a page price, listening eagerly to the one whom he thought the weight of the Underdark fell onto his shoulders. He could almost see the walls of the cave shimmering and becoming the walls of the training room, featureless save for the occasional weapon hung on rusted hooks. Kyil's voice and words became another's: "Now, when you're moving alongside a fence where the materials are horizontal, you move in a crouch, and when the material is vertical you move with your back straight and to the wall itself..."

Mikaril bit his lip and reminded himself that those days were behind him forever; he had new things to learn, and new instructors to learn from; ones who would not want to desert him as his brother had. As much as he disliked Kyil's desire to treat him like a lord, he couldn't help but feel a timy measure of gladness for it; it meant that Kyil wouldn't desert him unless he was forcibly held back. It gave him a measure of comfort, since he knew how hard it was to find any sort of loyalty in the Underdark, let alone a good friend.

He watched with keen interest as Kyil began to touch the points upon himself, explaining what which one did. At Kyil's gesture, he willingly extended his hand so that Kyil could position it properly.
"Would it be alright if I be the one touched also? I think it would definitely help me to learn better if I was to experience them also. I would be able to understand what it does to the victim and what they can and cannot do when it happens."

The lesson was easy in theory. Kyil knew from practice though that it was not so simple. Each drow was formed differently. The points, while they normally were in the same general area, could be difficult to find and use against a flubby (Kyil disliked actually using the term Fat) or a well toned customer. Kyil preferred to speak as if the techniques he was teaching to Mikaril would be used for the more harmless of options.

He positioned Mikaril's fingers upon his arm, and gently guided him so that he would be able to feel the muscle and veins neccessary to move in accordance to the touch. When it was he appiled the pressure to hhis arm through Mikaril's own fingers..the arm instantly flopped limply at Kyil's side. His lips curled into a faint smile, despite the uncomfortable sensation he currently was dealing with.

"Of course Mikaril. I agree that it will be useful for you to know these things and there are some points I should like to show you that might be useful. Such as the ones that will stimulate wakefulness and numb pain in sections of your body. " Kyil rolled his shoulder and tilted his head at the arm that he had numbed. "There is something else that you should be aware of."

Kyil's fingers twitched at his side even though less then a minute had passed since the touch. "If you use the touch on someone whom is familar with how the points work, their effectiveness is really lessened. Normally the numbing point used on my ark would leave a person with a limp unuseable limb for a good ten minutes." Again Kyil rolled his shoulder, though this time he placed his own fingers at another place on his arm and he gently rubbed them into the black flesh. In seconds his hand was flexing properly and he was able to bend his elbow.

"Mind you, this is a whole other set of points to learn here, but I think it will be most useful if you know how to counter the touchs...right?"

Mikaril watched his fingers as they were moved along Kyil's arm, feeling the veins pulsing beneath the ebony skin, busily directing lifeblood to where it needed to be. His eyes widened as he, with Kyil's help, carried out the pressure point and watched as Kyil's arm went limp. He looked up at Kyil with alarm, but seeing his friend smile faintly, he breathed a little easier and wondered what it must feel like.

Mikaril nodded and listened intently as Kyil mentioned the few that would come in handy to him personally, and as he began to speak of how their effect lessened on someone aware of pressure points, he almost raised his hand in question, but instead he grabbed his wrist with his other hand and waited until Kyil had finished speaking.
"I see, but what if you used the element of surprise? Would you be able to sneak up on someone unawares, even someone familiar with the points, use the point on them suddenly, and have the surprise itself work in making it lst a bit longer? If not, how about the thought of surprising them with it anyway, and then tying them up or knockking them out before they could apply the necessary counter-point?"

Mikaril was finding this entire lesson exceedingly interesting. He knew there were magical means of disabling someone (having been on the receiving end of those more times than he would care to think about), but being able to by physical means was awe-inspiring. Granted, there probably wasn't a touch that could cause full body paralysis like the ones he knew, but to do it even to an arm or a leg, and without magic; that was the best part. His sister would never see it coming. That is, if he was stupid enough to try it out on her.

Mikaril nodded at Kyil's words, then spoke up.
"I have a thought here on how we could do this with as little discomfort as possible for us both. How about you teach me one point at a time; both the touch and the counter. That way I can practice for a while and get it well into my head before I learn the next one. Does that sound okay with you?"

His hand had regained feeling again. The pins and needles that followed was always the most unpleasent in his opinion. Though, seeing the pleased look on Mikaril's face had been gratifying. Kyil felt the usual warmth inside of him when he saw a look of enjoyment on the face of another. He was serving a purpose. He was fulfilling a need or desire of another. This was how he felt self worth.

"There are some points that are very hard to counter unless you are aware. I mean, if you use a touch to render a opponent unconscious no amount of knowledge or skill will waken them before it's due time. So yes. Using surprise as a tactic would work exceptionally well. So too would tieing the person up. if they can not properly flex the muscles or touch the counter point then they can not effectively restore themselves."

He seemed so...interested! Kyil felt as if he could just talk about this for hours! He honestly was feeling quite well right now. Cleaned and dressed in good clothing. Even if they were not the cloths he'd prefer to be wearing. Kyil could not help but let his gaze slide and linger on the bag with his beautiful new outfit.

"Ah!" He turned his gaze back to Mikaril, a wide smile on his face. "That is an excellent idea. We would not want you to accidently mis-remember a touch. So then. Shall I perform this touch on you? Then I can show you how to counter it. It's a very harmless touch so we should be able to practice it a few times. However, it may make your arm hurt if we do it too often."
PostPosted: Sat Dec 06, 2008 1:21 pm

As he watched, Mikaril got a fleeting thought that Kyil seemed to feed off of his smiles. The way his face lit up when he smiled at him or showed any sign of having fun; he acted as though his purpose in life was fulfilled every time Mikaril showed him a smile. He supposed it came from his living to please others for so long. I wonder if he'll ever leave that behind, he found himself wondering. Just once I'd like to see Kyil smile at something that pleases only himself.

He smiled as Kyil acknowledged that they could indeed be used effectively with surprise. He liked to operate best by surprise and startling opponents rather than meet them head-on and hope for the best. That was why he never liked the ways of a warrior. There were so many other ways to disarm an opponent rather than brute force, and the non-violent ways were always the ones that came with more humiliation for the victim. Which resulted in more power for him.

Mikaril nodded with understanding and noticed Kyil's glance at the bag where the outfit was stashed. He chewed his bottom lip thoughtfully, then he smiled at Kyil.
"Hey, I have anotehr idea. How about you show me that one pressure point, I'll practice on myself; and I promise I won't do it too often; and you can try that outfit on and see how it looks on you. You might even be able to walk around and, you know, break it in."

Mikaril seemed pleased enough with his answers. This was good in Kyil's mind. The more Mikaril smiled, the more satisfied he felt. When Mikaril followed his gaze to the bag, and guessed rather correctly what was going through Kyil's mind, he did not attempt to hide the slight flush that rose in his cheeks. "I think this is an excellent idea of yours Mikaril. It would be enjoyable to try on the outfit you had purchased for me!"

Kyil reached once more for Mikaril's hand;. This time he placed the fingers in the correct spots, and showed him just where to apply the pressure. He waited to see if Mikaril's limb would go numb and limp. His lips quirking upwards slightly as he looked at his friend and unwilling master. "There now..and then..here..." He shifted the fingers so Mikaril could feel another spot on his arm. Pressing in there he waited to see how Mikaril would respond to the sudden flow of blood and control returned to his arm.

Mikaril nodded and tried to watch solemnly as Kyil applied the pressure point. He felt a numbness and his eyes widened as he watched his arm go limp. He tried to wiggle his fingers and they didn't respond. "Wow," he breathed, deciding that he didn't care for the sensation; it felt as though tiny electric shocks were traveling up and down his arm, and yet he felt nothing else. Interesting how you only felt the uncomfortable stuff.

He smiled with relief as Kyil applied the counter point, and he could practically feel the warmth of the blood rushing into his arm. He flexed his fingers and watched them respond. Then he gingerly felt the two spots with his other hand. "Thank you," he said to Kyil. "I'll practice this, and you can go and try your outfit on. I won't peek." He scooted around so that Kyil could have some privacy and began poking his arm, watching in fascination as the arm went limp, then back to life, limp, back to life. Like a child playing with a toy, he kept on poking his arm, forgetting his words that he would go easy; he just found the feeling irresistable, despite it's discomfort.

Kyil remained at Mikaril's side for a few moments. He wanted to make certain that the other had correctly learned which areas to apply the pressure to. As Mikaril would successfully numb, then restore his own arm, Kyil formed a faint smile. "Ah, good. You do have it. This should be a easy enough of a point for you to learn in no time. Perhaps then you might be interested in teaching me something..." But..the matter of the outfit had come again, and Kyil's eyes lit up with a eagerness.

"Ah! Yes! Thank you Mikaril. I do not think you will peek at all so you do not need worry about such assurances. besides, I am certain there is nothing you have not already seen of me from the bath house." With a rather light laugh, Kyil pushed himself to his feet, and nearly trapised over to the bag so he could redress himself. As he pulled the thin garment out of the travel bag, he felt a pleasent tingle travel through his fingers. It was so soft! It was so light! Just like what he was used to wearing back in the Black!

Kyil shucked his clothing with no hesitation. Kyil said he would not peek and he felt he had no need to double check as he folded up the cloths he had been wearing previously. Tucking them into the bag, Kyil noted with only minor dismay the tempeture difference on his skin. Hopefully the cave would not develop a cold draft! With a delighted smile upon his lips he gently donned his new outfit. Each piece he pulled on tickled his skin. The bottoms fit so snugly! And the loose transluscent pants pooled just like a skirt! Kyil slipped the pink top on, and fussily swept it over his shoulders before he wrapped the golden scarf about his waist. He had no mirror to gaze at himself in, so instead he fluffed his fingers through his hair a few times, then spun about on one gold slippered foot. "Mikiril!! how do I look?"
PostPosted: Sun Dec 07, 2008 9:00 pm

As he practiced, Mikaril wondered what it was that Kyil wanted to learn from him. Probably some basic thieving skills, or maybe some tricks. He knew a few; those he had learned from his brother and a few he had found out for himself. He felt himself flush at Kyil's mention of what was or might have been seen in the bath house, and covered it up by focusing extra hard on the point, so much that he did the next one a little too hard, and had to bite his lip from the discomfort as it took several seconds longer for the feeling to return once he did the counter.

A few more like these and he felt as though he could take on the whole Underdark and rob it of its darkness. He wondered anew at touches that could be used for more.....nefarious means. He had heard of touches that were more like smacks or chops that cut off the flow of blood to one's brain and would leave the victim dead in less than a minute, but not before enduring the agony of the blood being deprived from where it needed to go; quite useful for interrogation, if the touch truly existed. He had even heard of one that was somewhere on the chest and rumored to cause instant death. He had no need for such a point, but if it came down to either him or his attacker.......well, he HAD already killed a drow, even if it WAS an accident.

He heard Kyil and scooted around, his arm flopping about like a fish, and smiled at his friend dressed up in the pink slave girl's outfit. Despite it obviously being made for a female, he couldn't deny, it went well with Kyil's eyes.
"Looks pretty good," he said with a nod, "Good and comfortable." His arm sending him angry reminders that it would like its feeling back, he looked down and administered the counter point before standing up and rubbing his arm. "I think I've definitely got this one down; hopefully when the situation demands it, I can use it quickly. Now was there something you wanted me to teach you in return?"

Kyil felt just like his old self at this time. Dressed in something rather lovely and with a given task more or less. Kyil was able to take his mind off his present troubles by merely focusing on the small good things that he had the good fortune to have at this time. He let his eyes travel down the feminine garment with a look of satisfaction reflected within. He gently ran his fingers over his chest. The fabric felt so very soft! With a small twitch of his hips, Kyil caused the sash about his waist to sway and flutter with every step he took.

"Ah! All I would need now are some accessories and a little eye liner and I would feel complete!" He murmured with no small amount of wistfulness in his voice. He dand to his sash, and began to pull the shimmering length through his fingers slowly while he waited for Mikaril to take stock of him.

"Ah! You do like it? Thank you Mikaril." Kyil eagerly responded to the small compliment. His eyes lifted, almost with a trace of shyness, and he looked at the flopping arm. "You are not applying the point too much are you Mikaril? You can end up hurting yourself if you are not careful." Kyil gently cautioned his companion. In the next moment he was silent and still as he contemplated Mikaril's question.

"I am not certain Mikaril. I have never put much thought into the lifestyle of a thief. I am not certain what I need to be taught. What do you feel would be a good skill for me to learn first?"
PostPosted: Tue Dec 09, 2008 9:43 pm

Mikaril looked for all the world like a guilty child caught doing something naughty as he finished flexing his arm and making sure that he had his entire feeling back. "Well, I might have gotten a little carried away; I was pretty eager to get the move down." He sincerely hoped that this hadn't ruined his chances of Kyil teaching him any more of the points. He wasn't sure that Kyil would be willing to show him more if he thought Mikaril wouldn't be able to show some restraint in practicing them.

But as Kyil asked of him what he should learn first as a thief, Mikaril mused silently. He honestly couldn't remember having an official first lesson in thievery; he had just observed his brother at it, and Triellyn would notice his interest and give him a pointer or two, then a scenario to work out, and before he knew it, he was absorbing the bits and pieces like a dry cloth mops up water. But he did recall one thing that always stayed with him; how his brother used to tease him about having a face that would make a spider think twice about biting him.

Mikaril nodded to himself before smiling at Kyil.
"I think a first good skill would be what every thief will need eventually no matter how good they are; the ability to play-act. A thief who has the fingers of a sprite is no good if he gets caught. You have to make yourself seem as though you're the last person in the Underdark who would steal the accuser's purse. Furthermore, it's good practice for thinking creatively on your feet; something that you do constantly as a thief, not just when you get caught." He gestured to Kyil. "You for example, with your looks and your fine clothes. If you pulled a purse and were stopped by the former owner, what would you say to him that would make you seem innocent and make your story more credible?"

Kyil caught the shamefulness in Mikaril, and though he smiled, he did not say anything disapprovingly to him. "Well, so long as no damage is done..." He needed to focus though. As Mikaril would speak to him about Play-acting...all Kuyil could think of was Misdirection.

He released the sash from his hand, and brought his fingers up to twirl in his hair as he considered just how he would react. Truthfully he'd probably be scared. Thieves were not taken to kindly..well..actually...as far as Kyil could figure out no one was ever taken kindly of. Though..

"Well I suppose I would attempt to look insulted and ask him if I looked like some sort of pick pocket, then I'd probably tell him he ought to be more observant and point out someone who was stepping around a corner or seemed to be trying to avoid being seen?"
