"Cheerios a la Demi," was the first thing he heard, and he found that kind of humorous. He didn't have a whole lot of time to appreciate it though, because Demi caused a bowl to land in front of Sigma, and he looked up at her. She started pouring in cereal and huge amounts of milk, finishing everything off with a "There you are, sir!" He was speechless (how is that different from anytime though) at the random kindness, but appreciated it none-the-less. He started eating as she took her seat once again and began to watch him, although she didn't get to for very long. He heard Dion whisper to his sister, "Dem, staring is rude," and watched him scrawl an apology on the paper Sigma had used to previously communicate with him. He wondered why Dion felt the need to write it down, but let it go. He figured it was just to not let a perfectly good piece of paper go to waste.
"Guess when I'm finished, we'll start some of those chores. I hear Rosen might want the infirmary floor mopped," he heard Dion pass on to Demi, her, twisting her mouth yet nodding as she heard this.
Girl must hate mopping, Sigma thought.
"What do you say, Dem? Should we go now?" Dion asked his sister. Sigma was rather glad to hear that she had refused, as she wanted to spend time with the large amount of people in the room.
"What about you? What are you up to today?" she asked, turning back to Sigma. She shook her head frantically after saying this however, and stated, "No need to answer. You're probably really busy." He retrieved the paper that was being used earlier, and wrote down, Actually, no, I have nothing down for today, at least, not as far as I know. Want any help with mopping? Oh, and I'm not sure what the hell was going on, but uhh, whoever said your aren't a girl clearly can't see well and needs my glasses more than I do. He slid the sheet back over towards her. As he was in the midst of doing all this, Mutt returned to the room to get more cereal. He wasn't really paying attention to the conversation, but he did manage to catch, "still hungry you could have eaten mine," from Allison. He did have to try to make no sound at this, and resist the urge to offering Allison a high five, but he managed to hold himself back. He was slightly shocked at himself; normally, he wouldn't think that was funny and would think of the others as being immature for laughing at something so childish, but he didn't.
Maybe hanging around these guys is better for me than I had originally thought. I should be around them a little more. He thought the last part as he looked up at Demi and looked away quickly, feeling his chest tighten slightly.
Well that's new.

((Sorry for the long wait. My parents are being Nazis about all fun I'm allowed to have because I have an 'F' in U.S. History right now sweatdrop . I may only get to post once a day.))

As Allison answered her previous questions, Demi kept her eyes on Sigma, scribbling down on the piece of paper he was using to talk to Dion. When he seemed to be done, Sigma slid the paper closer to her. She peered down, reading each word carefully. Her breath caught in her lungs as she read the last part. A blush filled her cheeks as she looked over at Sigma, who seemed to look away quickly. She gave a small smile and ignored Dion as he poked her side. Sigma really saw her as a girl? This was a surprise. She wasn't even sure if he really liked her. She gave one last glance at Sigma before slapping Dion's hand away. When she looked back up, she noticed Mutt entered the room again.

Dion squinted his eyes, trying to read what Sigma said to her to make her so happy. When he tried pulling the paper closer, she whacked his hand hard and stuck her tongue out. He rolled his eyes. "You are so childish." To this, she only shrugged. Mutt was now pouring himself another helping of Cherrios and watched how Allison teased him. Dion smiled. Back and forths between Allison and Mutt were always so amusing. Turning her attention to Dion, Alli even offered to help him with training as well as Mutt, claiming she was the better shot. He smirked, knowing this was a challenge to Mutt. And, as Mutt made a dirty joke, Dion couldn't help but suppress a laugh. He looked over at Demi, who had heard the joke and was now in hysterics, and even looked at Sigma, who supressed a laugh as he did. Both Mutt and Alli got up to leave, and Alli told him they'd be in the training room. Dion shook his head and smiled. He would be sure to stroll in late, just to give them a bit of "alone" time.

When Demi finished her laughing, she looked over at Sigma, who seemed just as amused. "Hey, you know, Sig..." She looked at Dion and winked. He seemed confused by this. "Since Dion has to go practice with the others, I could probably use a hand with dishes and mopping and stuff." She smiled and looked down at her fingernails, which she absent mindedly started to play with. "That is, if it won't be boring for you." Dion went to open his mouth, but Demi hit him hard in the stomach. "Come on, Di," she whispered to him, "I really wanna break Sigma out of his shell. Please??"

"Dem, I doubt you being a loud mouth and him being quiet is the best match up," he said, shaking his head disapprovingly. "But, if you really want to and if he wants to, I suppose it's fine. I really need to get the practice in anyway." Demi's face lite up as she threw her arms around her brother. He smiled and laughed. "Ok, ok, I get it. You're welcome." He pushed his bowl in front of him and got up from his seat. "I better make my way over to the training room. I don't want them having all the fun." He waved goodbye to both Sigma and Demi as he slowly made his way to the training room. As he approached, his steps got sloppier and his hands started to shake. Maybe this was a bad idea...

Demi folded her hands on the table and looked over at Sigma. "Well...umm..." She couldn't believe she was so nervous and had nothing to say. That was certainly a first. One thing was for certain though, she wanted him to like her. She wanted to badly to be his friend. She smiled and slid his paper back to him. "We'll just wait till you're finished. Take your time, please. I don't want you to go hungry. And if you want anything else, just ask." She shook her head, messing her hair up around her face. "I'm not as scarey as I seem, although Di would beg to differ. Anyways," she grabbed her finished bowl, along with her brother's, and ran it over to the counter, where the others were. She returned to her seat with haste and took a look at the table. "I think maybe we'll clean up in here first..."

Allison's smile grew slightly as she saw Mutt's admiration of her accuracy. "Not bad for a girl I suppose, and you're how far away, 15 meters or so?" She scrunched her nose, "For a girl, eh?" With a pleased expression, he continued, "Now let's see how well you do with something like this, I'll go first as demonstrator." She tilted her head to the side and watched as Mutt strolled away from her and picked up the cleanest towel in the room, though it was still grubby. He shook it slightly, and he returned back to Allison's side. Mutt swished the towel in front of her face, allowing her to inhale the pungent smell. She watched him carefully as he tied it tightly around his eyes and took a deep breath. "Mutt...what are you doing?....Mutt?" He didn't seem to hear her, because he shook his entire body, as a dog would, and took his gun out of it's holster. She took a few steps back, and watched him with wide eyes, as he spun around a complete revolution and put a bullet into each hole that she had made a few minutes ago. Then, as to show that he was definitely a better shot than she, he turned 180 degrees and shot a perfect bulls eye onto the target that was fastened to the wall.

Allison looked at Mutt with growing admiration, she wasn't even sure if she could do this, but she knew that he would probably want her to try. He reloaded and put his gun back into his holster, "Living on the streets and hunting Embers did teach me some nifty survival tricks though." She walked over to him as he untied the towel and looked into his milky eyes. She watched as he smiled and brought the towle back up to her eye level, and he shook it once again, "Wanna try?" The happiness in her eyes started to mix with nervousness. But her father's voice filled her head, "Alli...don't just use your eyes to shoot..use your smell, your hearing..all of your senses. You can only learn with practice." She nodded, "Sure..I'll try. But, I have one request.. once I have the blindfold on, please just stand back..." She paused and smiled, "I wouldn't have to treat you for bullet wounds.." Mutt smiled as he looked back over to her, and he tied the towel around her eyes. "Okay. Now can you go sit or something? I ..really don't want to hurt you Mutt..I haven't done anything like this in years."

She took a deep breath and imitated the spin that Mutt had done only a few moments ago. Allowing her breathing to slow, she used her other senses as her father had instructed her to do so long ago. She shot carefully once, smiling at the familiar noise of impact on the dummy, she moved her arm up further and shot again, now smirking. She placed her gun back into it's holster and cringed slightly as she removed the towel from her eyes. She didn't look at the dummy, rather she turned to Mutt and said, "Well before I even look, I'd just like to say.. I haven't done this since my father trained me to seven years ago.." Allison watched as his face turned into a smirk, and he began laughing. Not knowing what he was laughing about, she turned to looked at the dummy. She saw smoke emerging from two holes that were way off from the targeted area, the crotch and the dead center of the neck. She sat on the ground and laughter started to shake her body. Between laughing bouts, "Now, aren't you glad that...haha... I didn't turn around and shoot..? ahahahah.." She stood up, still giggling as Mutt cringed and moved his hand to his crotch area.

((It's not much..but it made me laugh...lols...))
PostPosted: Sat Nov 29, 2008 4:31 pm

Still laughing, Mutt hugged his abdomen as the pain of laughing took it's toll. Raising a finger to his eye Mutt wiped away a tear, "Well I'm glad you didn't turn around that's for sure." Mutt said whilst his hand still lingered near his crotch as if in an attempt to protect his private areas. "Remind me to never get you mad or to blindfold you again, well for the last one, only if you have a gun in your hand" Mutt said a chortle escaping the confines of his mouth. "Allison I'm still very impressed, I have to hand it to you, you've been taught well. Now we have to see if Dion has the same natural skill."

Still setting on the floor Mutt stretched out his legs on the floor and touched his toes, stretching the muscles in his legs. Inhaling through his nose then exhaling out his mouth, Mutt drew up the reserves of his limited courage, "Hey Allison, does the name Lynn mean anything to you? I heard it on the ship and I just can't seem to place the name." Now that Mutt had some fun and games it was back to business as usual it seemed, Mutt had been itching to ask the question to someone, but Mutt felt as if the only person he'd be safe asking was Allison. Perhaps building up some friendships wasn't such a bad idea after all, they could in the long run be beneficial in realizing some opportunities that presented themselves.
Waiting for the response he needed Mutt plucked his glasses off his nose and wiped the lenses on the sleeve of his shirt. Mutt gazed at the objects around him, everything was a hazy white, as if all the objects had been doused with a fluorescent white paint.

Fastening his eyes on where he knew the target was on the wall. Mutt couldn't make out the lines nor colors of the target, Mutt sighed with resignation as he couldn't even make it out from the wall. It was the same vibrant white as the rest of the wall.
He had trained himself specifically to be able to memorise the positions of targets, just in case a time came when he lost his glasses in a gamble with death and life on the table as the bets.

Allison walked over to Mutt and sat down, a smile still plastered on her face from laughing so much. "Remind me to never get you mad or blindfold you again, well the last one, only if you have a gun in your hands," he said, with a small chortle. Allison smiled, she knew what he was hinting at, but she shrugged it off. She slowly layed back, placing her hands behind her head and watched Mutt carefully. "Allison, Im still very impressed, I have to hand it to you, you've been taught well. Now we have to see if Dion has the same natural skill." The constant smile that seemed to be on her face came back again as she sat up again. She poked his side, "Awh.. you mean it?" Pulling her knees to her chest, she wrapped her arms around them and placed her head down. Allison watched as Mutt stretched, obviously getting the courage to say something to her. "Hey Allison, does the name Lyn mean anything to you? I heard it on the ship and I can't seem to place the name."

The smile disappeared from her face, a serious expression put in it's place. "Lyn... why do I know that name...I heard it just yesterday...who was talking? Logan..." She nodded slowly, "Yeah...I know of Lyn." She looked over to him now, the serious face still present, "Where did you hear of her?" He was looking around the room without his glasses. She shook her head, "It doesn't matter.. you know of Cohen Winchester, right? The "future ruler of Destiny"?" He returned the glasses to his face and nodded. "Okay.. Lyn is Cohen's fiance." She shook her head, "I was in the room when Rosen was being briefed on it.. but I was with a couple patients, so I couldn't hear much.." She looked at Mutt carefully, a smile creeping back onto her face. "Mutt...can I see your glasses?"
PostPosted: Sat Nov 29, 2008 7:24 pm

"Ah well then, I suppose it would be natural for me to hear the name Lynn on a rebel ship then" Mutt said, covering his tracks.
"Mutt...can I see your glasses?" Mutt raised an eyebrow at the question and quick change of topic, giving Allison a side long glance as a secondary reaction. Taking a hold of the cool metal frame of his sunglasses, Mutt slipped the glasses off and dropped them into Allison's proffered hand. Mutt's eyes near blind as they were, soaked in the sight of the other rebels hand. The soft contours of Allison's palm led up to the smooth nimble fingers of each digit, all as perfect as their brethren each topped off with a clear shell of nail.

Tearing his eyes away from the alabaster hands Mutt squinted at his own hands. Tanned and cracked, like a dry river bed, his hands were a record of his past. The fingers were calloused from the daily practice he performed with guns, his nails split from the oil and grease used to clean his guns, and a pale scar that ran vertically along the back of his left hand. An old wound he had got from a inconsequential brawl with another street kid who had attacked him with a small pocket knife.
Noticing the smile that had snaked it's way across Allison's features Mutt grimaced playfully.
"What are you up to?" Mutt inquired, looking at the glasses in Allison's petite hands. Glancing upwards in irritation at the artificial lighting, Mutt spasmodically rubbed at his sore eyes which were beginning to water. After rubbing at his eyes Mutt flashed Allison a smile, his eyes still scrunched up and bleary. "Wow Allison, now that my eyes are all bleary you look even prettier, maybe I should do this more often." jested Mutt, grinning at his own pathetic attempt at humor.

Allison outstretched her hand, waiting for Mutt to let her borrow his glasses. He slipped them off his face and dropped them into her hand. She held them and glanced over to Mutt's hands, which he were examining. She was smiling at his working man's hands, he was so young and yet he'd been through so much.. they all had. "What are you up to?" Mutt asked her, still seeing the glasses in Allison's hands. She unfolded them and placed them on and saw that he was rubbing his eyes after looking up at the lights. He then stopped and smiled at her, "Wow Allison, now that my eyes are all bleary you look even prettier, maybe I should do this more often."

She knew that he was only a joke, by the smile that was evident on her face. But she allowed a pout and she crossed her arms, "Perhaps I just wanted to save you from seeing my despicable face any longer. Or..maybe I just wanted to see things how you do." She looked forward, at the dummy that they had shot earlier. She grinned slightly, noticing the large hole depicted in the crotch. Not looking back at him, she said in a low, almost unheard voice, "Do.. you really think that, Mutt? Am I really that horrible?" She slipped off his sunglasses and held her arm out to her side where he was seated. She dropped them into his lap, and returned to her previous position, with her knees to her chest and her head on her knees..only this time it was faced towards the wall, not facing him.

::Flashback::
Allison stood outside of the school, dressed in a jumper--as per the uniform--"Mommy..what if they don't like me there?" Her mother kneeled down so she was eye level with Alli, "Sweetie.. you're the smartest and most beautiful little six year old there is around here. Nobody can ever say or do anything to change that for you." She looked away from her mother, her face twisted into a frown, "That's not what Freddy said... he said the exact opposite of that.." The woman frowned and stood, taking hold of her daughter's hand and lead her into the school. They didn't say anything else to each other on the voyage to her classroom. However, before letting her enter the room, she whispered into Allison's ear, "Not everybody will like you..but you don't need those people."

Mutt balked and sputtered at the question, the words to express his disillusionment and apologetic feelings not forthcoming. After a moments pause to recollect his thoughts Mutt finally spoke, "Of course I don't think that Allison, you're not a horrible person at all. I should be asking you that question but the answers so obvious I don't need to ask it." Laying his glasses on the ground next to him Mutt's eyes bored into the back of Allison's head. "What I don't understand is how you can think that, when you're the kindest person I know. Another thing that is completely beyond my comprehension, is why you even bother talk to someone like me. A piece of scum who wouldn't hesitate to sell you all out to Garth if he offered me a good deal." Teeth clenched, Mutt grinded his molars, creating a dulled crunching sound that was easily detected within the silent room. An outward expression of his bewilderment.

Calming himself Mutt laid a hand on Allison's shoulder. The motion sent tiny pin-pricks of sensation throughout Mutt's arm, the action so completely foreign and unpracticed that it managed to feel odd and eldritch. "I should be the one turning away in shame, if I had any of your honor I would, your apparent shame is completely unfounded."
Grasping both shoulders now, Mutt managed to find the fortitude to twist the small woman around so she now faced him. Allison's face however was fixated on the monochrome floor beneath them, and with a new resolve Mutt removed a hand from her shoulder and lifted up her chin, fixing her clouded eyes with his own milky hues. Once the two had established eye contact Mutt gave Allison a smile that was gentle and yet pursed with confusion. "You need to snap out of those glooms Allison, you should have more confidence in yourself."

Allison closed her eyes, rather than continuing to stare at he wall. She didn't know why Mutt's comment had struck such a sensitive cord, but it had. She only opened her eyes once Mutt spoke again, "Of course I don't think that Allison, you're not a horrible person at all. I should be asking you that question but the answer's so obvious I don't need to ask it." "You're not a horrible person. I'm just far too sensitive." She could feel him staring at the back of her head, "What I don't understand is how you can think that, when you're the kindest person I know..." "I'm not all that kind..." He continued, "Another thing that is completely beyond my comprehension, is why you even bother talking to someone like me. A piece of scum who wouldn't hesitate to sell you out to Garter if he offered me a good deal." She wouldn't allow a smile, "You wouldn't sell me out...and you're not scum...not in the slightest..I don't think so at least."

She didn't want to look at him, but she let her breath escape as Mutt laid a hand on one of her shoulders. "I should be the one turning away in shame, if I had any of your honor I would, your apparent shame is completely unfounded." She smirked for a moment, she was starting to feel better, though she didn't like him feeling so unhappy. Now he was grasping both of her shoulders, and he twisted her around to face him. Instead of looking at Mutt, as he had wanted, she stared at the floor. Allison wasn't quite sure what to say or do when he lifted her chin, fixing his eyes on her own. She sighed inwardly and looked him in the eye, he gave her a gentle smile and continued on confused, "You need to snap out of those glooms Allison, you should have more confidence in yourself."

She returned his kind smile, her eyes slowly getting happier with his kind words. "Mutt, you're not a bad person. I'm sorry that I made you feel that way. I'm just...too sensitive when it comes to some things." She paused and looked away for a moment, "I don't usually allow people to see me like this..but for some reason I let you see what's behind the mask of the seemingly always happy person." Her scrunched her nose and smiled, "And another thing that is completely beyond my comprehension, is why you think of yourself as a piece of scum. I wouldn't talk to you, if thats what I thought of you. And...I may be completely nuts..but I think that I'm one of the few people that you wouldn't sell out to Garter." She smiled and inched forward so that she was closer to Mutt, his arm still on her shoulder, and she wrapped her arms around him. "Thank you..for making me feel better."

Not pulling herself away for a few seconds, she thought to herself, "..I wonder when Dion is going to make his way up here..."

"-Di, I really wanna br- -ell." Was all he managed to catch of whatever it was Demi was saying. He could only assume however, that it had something to do with him seeing as Dion replied, shaking his head dissaprovingly, with, "Dem, I doubt you being a loud mouth and him being quiet is the best match up. But, if you really want to and if he wants to, I suppose it's fine. I really need to get the practice in anyway." Sigma was rather shocked when Dem exploded in a bomb of joy on Di, and hugged him. "Ok, ok, I get it. You're welcome," he said laughing. "I better make my way over to the training room. I don't want them having all the fun," Dion said, leaving the room, waving bye to what Sigma figured was to both Demi and himself. Demi resumed her watch to Sigma, and he thought she had gone speechless, because all she said was, "Well...umm..."
No, no it's impossible. Demi can't be speechless, the universe would implode from lack of sense, he thought, shocked by this. He was grateful for her offer to get him anything else he wanted, but he never liked making other people do work for him. When he caught her statement, "I'm not as scary as I seem, although Di would beg to differ," Sigma retrieved the paper from Demi, got his pen again, and wrote down, this time in a nice, neat cursive, as opposed to his usual italicized, computer writing, You're not as scary as you seem? But... you're not scary at all. He signed that last message off with a(n) ∑ under what he had written, something he only did when his message was completely sincere. I guess we should get to this though. Then those dishes. He wrote, his writing restored to it's default italics. He passed the paper over to her, and put his bowl in its proper place. He returned to see that Demi had fully read his message and she seemed to be even more embarrassed than before, as she was a healthy shade of red. He laughed silently to himself, the left side of his mouth tilting up to make a shard of a smile come into view for about a second, before he returned to neutral. Hope she didn't see that, he thought. He took the paper back, noticing Demi's hand twitch a little, as though she wanted to stop him, but didn't. He payed this no mind and wrote down, So, what do we do about this? I have no idea where the cleaning material is on this ship. Mind showing me? He pushed the paper back over to her, and re-took his previous spot at the table, elbows on the table, arms up, hands linked together with his thumbs in front of his mouth, watching Demi, awaiting orders.

Once again, Demi watched as Sigma carefully scribbled down on the paper and slid it in her direction. She bit her lip down when she noticed it wasn't his usual handwriting. He even signed it, which made her smile. The rest of the message was the same handwriting as before, which had to mean that Sigma meant for the first message to be...No. He doesn't like me at all, remember? Still, she couldn't help but look in his direction and blush wildly. When Sigma returned from bringing his bowl up, he took back his paper, to Demi's dismay. The reason? She wanted to read his previous message over and over. She pulled her hand back instead. He slid the paper back to her and she read it with a smile. He really wanted to help her. She looked up at him and held out her hand. "Follow me..."

Dion stood in front of the training room, trying to control his breath. What's the matter? It's only training practice. He was trying to psych himself out. Trying to talk himself out of this spell. He moved closer and made his way inside, only to stop short at the sight of Allison and Mutt embracing. His face went beat red and he started to stammer. "Oh...uh...sorry, sorry, I didn't..." He bit his lip and covered his eyes with his hands. He knew it was stupid, they were only hugging. But, he felt he just ruined an intimate moment, nonetheless. "Do...do you want me to come back?" When he heard no answer, he shrugged. "I'll be right outside." He went back outside, leaning against the wall as he let out a breath. He was certainly not prepared for that, and that didn't help his current situation...

Sigma looked a bit reluctant to take her hand, so Demi reached out and grabbed it. "Don't be shy, come on!" She led him over to the counter, where the grabbed all the empty bowls. "Now, we'll be going in kitchen territory. Watch out for chef," she said, pressing her finger to her lips, signaling him to be very quiet. They made their way towards the kitchen, Demi leading the way with every small step. They slipped into the kitchen and went over to the sink, where a small stack of dishes lay. "Here we are! My work station!" She tossed the bowls in the already soapy water and took the bowls that Sigma held, throwing them in as well. She dumped more soap in and ran the water. She giggled, pointing to her left. "You might wanna put some gloves on. This could get really messy..."

Clearing his throat Mutt gently pushed Allison away, her eyes glistening with happiness and past sorrow. Dion burst in and saw the two of them embracing, pretending he hadn't noticed Mutt looked up at the ceiling in an awkward manner, betraying the way in which it felt right to be exactly where he was. After a few stammered and uncomfortable sentences Dion withdrew outside once again. Sighing Mutt squeezed Allison's shoulder for what he felt as if could be the last time, and turning away Mutt stood up and walked over to the door.
Sliding open the barrier between them, Mutt couldn't help himself as laughter came unbidden as he saw the furious shade of red that dusted Dion's cheeks.
"You missed all the fun Dion, but shooting practice is still on today as well."
Taking out his spare shining handgun, Mutt grabbed Dion's hand and laid it in his hand.

Bewilderment and a nervous excitement washed itself over Dion's whole face, and the blush started to dissipate to make way for a waxy white instead.
"I'm glad to see you're excited," began Mutt as he dragged the twin into the static air of the training room. "But don't pass out on me" joked Mutt as he steered Dion in front of the target plastered to the wall. Stepping away from Dion Mutt cradled his own stubbly chin in thought, and then began:
"Okay first rule. Never wear a blindfold when you're shooting, it's just plain stupid."

She wouldn’t stop Logan from doing what he had to do to keep them safe, but she didn’t need to see what was happening, either. Rose pushed unsettling thoughts out of her head as she continued down the narrow hallway after Cole.
“Wait up kid,” she called when she realized the boy was out of sight.
“AHHHRGGGG!!!”
Rosen almost jumped out of her skin at the sound. The hair on the back of her neck was standing up on its ends and goose bumps trailed down her arms. Only when her brain registered the voice did her heart stop pounding and her muscles relax.
“Cole,” she said with a sigh, turning around to see the boy standing with his fingers curled into claws and his mouth contorted into a wicked grin. He might’ve been growing into a young man, but he still had the sense of humor of a small child. Rose feared that he would never grow out of scaring her and that she would have to be on guard for the rest of her life.
“I got you that time Rosey,” Cole chimed, the impish smirk still plastered on his face. His eyes were gleaming with enthusiasm.
“Yeah, just like every other time you jump out of some odd hole in the wall or crawl out from under the hospital beds. Now tell me, where were you hiding this time? I thought you were in front of me.”
“Nope.”
“Nope?” Rose asked, placing a hand on her hip and looking down at him with a raised eyebrow. “What do you mean, ‘nope’?”
But she never got her answer. The wayward boy laughed and grabbed her hand, suddenly sprinting forward and dragging Rosen along with him. Rose smiled as she struggled to keep up with the erratic and unpredictable boy. Every few minutes his shaggy brown hair would whip around as he turned to face her. His sparkling hazel eyes challenged her to keep running and not chide him like the other adults.
She wondered how old he was. His face was childish, but with every passing year his features grew sharper and more defined. The rebellion in his eyes only grew more restless. Rosen thought back to her first day aboard the Highwind. Cole was by Logan’s side every second. She’d thought he was Logan’s brother at the time. She knew the truth of the boy’s origins now, as did a few other people, but she rarely spoke of it for Logan’s benefit. As for Cole, he was happy just treating Logan like a father.
Rosen was snapped out of her reflections when Cole came to a sudden halt. He dropped her hand and opened the door for her, smiling kindly but panting from the sprint over.
“Here we are. Still hungry?”
“Not really,” Rosen said to him as she passed by, “But let’s get some food anyway.”
Cole ran off ahead of her to grab his food, but Rosen lagged behind. It struck her as odd that there was a voice other than chef’s coming from the kitchen at such an early time. What was most anomalous was not the voice itself, which was that of the rambunctious Demetria, but the absence of her brother’s more subtle tone. Rosen slipped into the kitchen to insect, giving a polite nod to chef when he caught her on the way there.
“Hello, Demi,” Rose said, sticking her head into the kitchen and looking around. “Ah, and hello to you as well, Sigma.” She looked from one to the other with a small smile and made her way over to a counter, pulling herself onto it and yanking over a box of cereal in one swift motion. Swinging her legs gently over the side, Rosen fumbled around for a bowl.
“So,” she said as she poured herself some breakfast. “Is life on the ship so boring for you that you have to start cleaning before anyone has even eaten?” She chuckled lightly. “And where is that brother of yours? I can only imagine the trouble you’ll get yourself into without him…”

((Sorry it isn't much, but I just needed to catch up.))
