"That was what I thought too..." the words escaped him before he could think them better. But it was true, the first thing Allen ever thought was how Lavi looked so lonely. A person smilling, open-hearted and far-more talkative than him... and still, a person who seemed far away, just out of anyone's reach due to his choice of staying away, hidden behind walls of impenetratable secrecy and that smile... his jokes... Allen sighed. "There had been a time when I wondered that myself..." he smilled gently, as if to reply to that statement. 'You didn't wonder.' his mind poked at him. 'You knew you were shielding yourself. Shielding the world from yourself.' this wasn't entirelly true though, because, in time, his defences had grown weaker, small cracks beginning to show on the frozen ice he hid close to his heart.
"Didn't you think I was a freak...?" the sullen question surfaced on its own, he did remember Lavi saying he looked older because of his hair but nothing more, pretty much. And this was getting silly. He'd swear he acted just like a baby seeking confirmation about his actions... himself...

Why did Allen ask the questions Lavi had horribly sappy answers to? "Eh, no. I thought you were pretty cute." And why was it when Lavi tried to make it sound less sappy it still came out to imply he liked Allen!? Lavi groaned, his face flushed red with embarrassment.

"C-Cute?" of all things Lavi could say... Allen felt his cheeks flush with embarassment. What was that he was saying? Cute? Him? How could that be? Allen closed his eyes and took a couple of deep breaths. Surely... things couldn't be as simple... right?
"W-What do you mean, Lavi?" he asked, sitting up, his eyes trying to focus to Lavi's single visible green eye.

"I--i mean I think your..." Lavi couldn't get the word out, even after he had already said it.How could he say he thought the other was cute without confessing? Well, he had managed not to say anything else, so it might work. "Y-yeah, I mean...your cute, that's what I think."'

Allen blinked. Lavi was acting jumpy all of a sudden, maybe it would be wise not to push it any longer. It was good that way. Laughing softly he ran to the window and looked outside. He wasn't laughing at Lavi's answer, just his reaction. Turning halfway to look at him he extended a hand in his direction, still smilling, his wings spread to either side. The way the light was reflected by the pure whiteness of his feathers made him really look like an angel some times like this. He was rather happy that he was told he was cute. He was happy... because Lavi thought he was.
"Yeah." he nodded his head, "I understand." he really did, maybe for the first time in his lifetime -or after-death-time?- he did understand. It was a strange feeling, painful and sweet at the same time. It made his heart flutter in his chest and gave him a strange high that made him think he could do anything... or almost anything.

'Thank god Allen does, but I didn't understand me.' Lavi thought, his arm circling Allen protectively. It was corny, but Lavi wanted his little angel by his side. "I'm not going to leave." He said in a soft voice, having begun to nod off.

Allen's smile faded, loosing its brightness. Clear eyes watched at Lavi intensly as if he wanted to be able to see the way he thought Lavi could, down to the bottom of one's soul. Was he speaking lies or truth again this time? Which was it, really? Fear grasped his heart and clenched tight. Was Lavi saying this just to comfort him because he'd be leaving soon? What was it? Suddently finding himself wrapping both arms around Lavi in an awkward embrace he felt himself move a bit from where he was standing and heard himself speaking. "Please don't go..." he mumbled. "Please don't leave again"...

Have I scared Allen this much? Lavi wondered, pulling Allen closer. "I'm not moyashi, I won't." Or at least, he'd try. He fell into a doze, comforted by Allens warmth and closeness. It bothered Lavi, knowing they couldn't remain this way for long,knowing he couldn't, not with his student in the state he was in, and the pain that had been left in their hearts with the blond bakanekos true passing, as well as his identity. Lavi wouldn't believe for five second now that Casey had been a tortured soul in his end days, and that he had not recently met Rynl either, the two just looked too much alike. Oh well, lavi would try to figure it out later.

"You said that back then too..." Allen frowned. "But you left..." he mumbled, hiding his face from the other. He felt silly saying such things, especially when he couldn't even recall them good enough. Even so there was this sullen hint whenever he tried to think of it, his past and Lavi. It was not only the patch of blackness, there was also a perpetual feeling of longing and unfulfilled wishes lingering just underneath the surface. Allen could recognize it beneath his own actions, lurking, hiding from shade to shade.

It was rather dark when Lavi woke up again, this time to the sound of small breathing, seemed Allen had fallen asleep, Lavi smiled at how innocent he looked. 'Even though he's tainted, he still looks innocent. The red-head thought, carding a hand through Allens hair. He could have sworn Allen spoke to him while he fell asleep, but he might have imagined it. He decided to stay, until Allen woke up.

Allen dreamt of floating in a quite sea, maybe falling through it in reverse -upwards-. It was a sunset and the sun painted everything golden and red. After his small 'journey' he came to rest in the golden sands of a shore. He heard footsteps and so he openned his eyes to look. A dark figure approached him and kneeled close to him. The other didn't speak at all, he just stared at him and when he was satisfied he left. Allen was alone again and so he slept again, the warmth of the sand bellow him comforting.
He woke up by a violent tremor as if there was an earthquake going on. Maybe he was too early to think he wouldn't have et another nightmare. The sea pulled him back in, dennying him the safe haven he had found and back into the dark water -now the sky was dark too, the sun gone and not a star shinning in the dark velvet night. He fell, drowning, unable to fight back, until he was caught by something, someone. His heartbeat easened as he felt safe again and soon he was sleeping again.
Allen woke up, his eyelids fluttering open. It was quiet and warm. He yawned softly and closed his eyes again allowing the sensation to linger longer. Lavi was still there... he could hear his breathing, relaxed as well. He smiled but remainedquiet nontheless, not wanting to wake the other up in case he was still sleeping.

"Moyashi-chan, you gonna wake up yet?" He called softly. He had felt Allen stir, and decided to help him wake up. He hadn't wanted to, but he sadly had things to be done, like seeing just how much of the study had been destroyed.

"What if I don't want to...?" he questioned, almost childishly, while pulling the blankets over his head. He wanted to stay there longer and he didn't mind acting a bit silly for a while. it was going to be okay, after all he woke up without having one of his usual nightmares.

Then i'll make ya!" He crawled under the covers, intent on playing Allens game, since Lavi knew the white haired boy needed some fun. Seeing Allen, Lavi pounced, assaulting him with tickles. It had been so long since he had enjoyed himself, let alone with Allen.

Allen giggled at Lavi's assault. He really was ticklish and the other seemed to be taking advantage of that. Trying to retaliate but failling he tried to push Lavi away -but failed again. "Lavi!" he protested. "That's unfair! Unfair!" even so he laughed, he laughed, carefree -noticing for another time that not many things have changed from they time they were alive-. Curling in a fetal position to protect himself -another futile try- another image surfaced in his head. Smiling peacefully up at Lavi this time it was his turn to assault Lavi for a tickle attack. However, not paying much attention he ended dropping Lavi off the bed -subsequently falling himself atop the other.
He blushed embarassed looking at Lavi. "Ah! Sorry!" he exclaimed.
