((Im so sorry between work and school I have not had time to be on in a while...
Alyen and maverick. Both of you are coming up with wonderful ideas and you are going to have to help me with this one. As my best friend so aptly puts it I am a video game deprived child. (My mother does not like them so I have never played... though a few people are trying to teach me smash bros...)I have little knowledge when it comes to such things. If you two want to pm me or come up with a time to be on IM and figure this out that would be wonderful.
Wow all of you are so formal. I am not used to Thread mistress... just Fae is fine if it pleases you.... If you wish to continue being formal I don't mind but it must be getting annoying to type...
Anyway I like the class thing and I really like the personality thing....I just have to figure out specifics. I apologize for making this so Vague and I thank you all for your patience with me.)) Kira wanted to run. Every fiber in her body told her to, but something made her run back and grab Kayne by the wrist and pull him with her. She had a feeling Shin would follow once he no longer had to protect anyone.
"Come on!" she said impatiently. "We don't have weapons and I am not experimenting with what will happen when we die thank you." she had pulled him as far as the first line of trees by then. She looked back for Shin a thin worry line appearing between her brows as they compressed together.
Kira worried about everyone. Despite her slightly spoiled and self centered nature she really did have a big heart and she could not run away and leave them behind whether she wanted to or not. It was just the way she was.
This was not the first time she had tried to save someone. She had gotten hurt several times doing that. She may not show it much through her athletic abilities, but she had a bad knee from the time she had pushed her enemy out of the way of an oncoming car. That had torn the tendon in her knee... The person she saved did not even help her up. She had not cared much. Kira never expected gratitude and because she got it so seldom she did not know what to do when it was expressed to her.

((OOC: Any time from 6-12 PM Eastern time is good for me to be on IM on weekdays. Weekends vary, but I'm usually on most of the day after noon Eastern time. I would just send a PM, but I think Aleyn and I should converse with you at the same time, Fae.))
'This may be the dumbest thing you've ever done.' Shin stood facing the great sea serpent and suddenly felt very, very small. Just as he had hoped, the dragon's eyes were fixated on him, and while Shin knew there was no possible way he'd be able to subdue it, it should be enough time for the others to escape. All of this time he had been staring at one of the dragon's great eyes, making the most ridiculously mismatched stare down one could imagine. Shin chanced a glance backwards to see that everyone else had retreated to the safety of the forest. Unfortunately, the dragon saw breaking the stare as a challenge to strike, and lunged with is mighty maw gaping. As Shin's blood boiled, he flung himself to the side, diving onto the sand and avoiding the razor-sharp teeth of the sea serpent. Knowing he barely had a moment's advantage, he sprinted forward, trying desperately to gain suitable footing on the sand. The sea dragon's head raised again, searching for its prey, and it took a moment to discern the difference between the cloud of sand that had risen and human skin. Remembering back to the habits of animals that were naturally preyed upon, Shin began to run in a zig-zagging fashion, in a rather sad attempt to confuse the mighty beast looming behind him. As he neared the edge of the forest, the dragon let a cry loose that shook the trees and caused waves to spill over the shore, and Shin's heart sank in fear. With one last burst of speed, he drove into the foliage an used the cover of bushes to sneak behind the tree closest to the coat. From the loud impact he heard back on the beach, he assumed the dragon had struck - and missed - again. Shaking, he sank to the ground and loosed a sigh.

Kira hadn't the need to drag him; Kayne had been broken from his trance-like fervor when he'd felt himself being pulled away from the - as far as he was concerned - magnificent specimen of Serpentalis occidentalis maritimus. Dragging his gaze away from the great wyrm, he found his feet and sprinted with her the rest of the way. As they watched, Shin burst from the cloud of disturbed sand that the serpent had made, and race into the forest just as the creature struck again.
Kayne jogged over to Shin, squatting next to him.
"Very brave, I must say," he commented with a sheepish grin. "But I must apologize for my previous behaviour . . . I understand that standing in such proximity to admire an angry serpent isn't the best course of action."
((I'm good from 4:30 to 5 pm, 6 to 7 pm, and 8:30 to 9:25 pm Eastern everyday. There might be days when I'm not here, usually Tuesdays and Fridays, but if there's anything you want me to know, feel free to PM me. I'll check it.))

She watched Shin in horror. She could not watch him die. The thing came so close to catching him. She was doing all she could to resist the urge to run back. She would probably only mess things up worse, but she could feel tension building in her.
Finally he made it to the tree and she followed Kayne over there. she completely ignored Kayne's statement.
She fell to her knees on Shin's other side and leaned against the tree for support. She had been really scared. "I thought you were going to die." She said softly. Please don't do something like that again." Her face was pale white and she coulf not get her hands to stop shaking.

Kynum finally reached the tree-line at a jog, a few paces away from the rest of the group. He sheathed his sword and turned to them as the beast gave its cry of frustration. With a smile Kynum said, "Well!...That was fun, eh? Don't you just love the wildlife here in Almalexia? Mayhaps we should continue through this forest to our destination and gain a bit more distance from our friend over there." after a few moments went by Kynum continued, "By the way, what are you names? I am Kynum, Knight Errant of the crown of Almalexia."

Seeing that Kira was in a shaky, shocked state, and Shin was still recovering, Kayne stood to answer the man.
"My name is Kayne. My companions are Shin and Kira," he answered, hoping the two didn't mind him speaking on their behalf.

Speechless, Shin observed the genuine care and concern Kira's expression wore. "I'm sorry. I just didn't want any of you to get killed." He said, standing straight and holding a hand out to help Kira up. "And I agree with your sentiments, Kynum. That beast might have some sort of destructive breath, I don't know much in the way of sea serpents."

Kayne's attention went to Shin when he straightned. At the other teen's comment, Kayne shook his head.
"If the mythical creatures are like any I've read about, the Occidental Sea Serpent has no destructive breath. They aren't Occidental Dragons, merely a distant relative to them. Sea Serpents often prey through constriction." He crouched down next to Kira, tentatively placing a hand on her shoulder. "Miss Kira, are you alright? You look like you're in shock."

Kira took the hand up. She did not need any prompting in getting out of the dragon's potential range. "Its alright...... Lets go." she said softly. She was annoyed by how surprised he had been when she had showed any kind of feeling. Why must everyone believe she was heartless? what made him think that she wanted to see him die anymore than he wanted to se them die. She sighed inwardly. People were all the same it seemed.

"That's a relief." Shin said, to Kayne. "Moving into the forest seems to be our only option at the moment, but we don't know what's lying and lurking in there, either. It could just be a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire."

"I suppose we had better get used to the heat, then!" Kynum said in response to Shin. "Well come on, it's a better part of a day's journey this way to get to our city." Kynum pointed in a north western direction as he spoke. "We should probably set up camp at some point a bit before nightfall, as it's already after noon." He lead the way through the trees and brush that included ferns and various coniferous trees. Some of the plants seemed odd even from the perspective of the natives. There were some plants that oozed blood when they were cut, and even more that attempted to wrap themselves around unwary travelers and drag them to the depths of the underbrush. As all this was happening and the Serpent let out one last frustrated roar in the distance, Kynum felt he had forgotten something...

(( sweatdrop XP srry guys, i should really get on more during the weekends. i'm mostly online on weekdays.))
Ailis winced when Sinion's razor teeth took a chunk out of the beach. She almost jumped, but a vine was holding her back. By the time she untangled herself, the travelers and native had gotten to safety. She figured she should calm Sinion now, since he tended to stay mad once he got mad.
Ailis leaped from the tree branch, random vines reaching out to slow her fall. She hopped the vines to the beach fifty feet below, and hit the ground running. Looking much like the reckless fool she was, Ailis jogged right up in front of the raging beast and stopped with her hands on her hips, wearing an expression a mother might give a toddler throwing a hissy fit. *A'ight, calm down ye sensitive beast! They didn't mean harm to you, just let 'em be.* Sinion growled and put his massive head down to stare into her laughing eyes. Ailis didn't flinch, keeping her hands on her hips and her eyebrow cocked. Sinion looked away and snorted, sending a jet of silvery, glimmering mist into the air. He withdrew into the sea, making his exit just as dramatic as his entrance. Ailis turned and sauntered away as Sinion's great spiked tailfin slapped the water behind her, sending a cascade of shining water up against the sunlit clouds.
Ailis tracked the travelers, which wasn't difficult. She had only to follow the trail of broken undergrowth and the sound of feet crunching leaves and fallen branches. She spotted the before long, and a grin spread on her face. *Excellent.* Ailis stood on her branch, arms outspread, and simply fell forward. She grinned at the rush of wind in her ears and forest growth rushing by her. Right before she hit the ground, her arm caught a branch. She swung around it to lessen her momentum and then dropped, landing in a crouch on the path before the travelers led by a native she had not yet seen.
*Hiyah.* She said, looking up with her lazy, casual smile. She stood and hooked a thumb in her belt, taking into account the group's appearance. She saluted with two fingers, completing her trademark look with a gesture from her mountain pack tradition. *"Voice of the Mountain".* She adressed herself. *Sorry about that little joke, couldn't pass it up. Really my name's Ailis, a simple halfbreed. How fare ye?*

The new creature arriving made Kynum flinch a little bit as it dropped to a crouch in the path that they were walking. As the halfbreed spoke to them and introduced herself it seemed less and less likely that she was a forest spirit from the Ether come to haunt them all forever. Kynum was superstitious about that kind of stuff. "We fare...um...good, I guess. That is if you don't count giant sea creatures finding us particularly delectable. My name is Kynum, Knight Errant of the crown of Almalexia. That is where we are headed, this rather eccentric group and I." Kynum gestures to the group.
