Roydon yelped in surprise as he felt something around his feet and just about fell over - and the only reason he didn't was because he was holding onto Arwen.
Arwen laughed (as did just about everyone else). "Still not used to that, are you?" she teased her husband, helping him regain his balance and then letting go of him. "After nearly two years ..."
She giggled again and knelt down to collect the fluffy cat into her arms, then snuggled her and stroked her from head to tail. "Good job, Saki," she grinned.
Elros smiled and nodded. "It is always better to practice where and when you can ... and as long as you do nothing to seriously harm them, it does them no ill, either."
He glanced out the window and nodded. "And I see Lord Aragost is returning," he murmured, rising to his feet, "which means that it is my turn to go out on duty. Lin, if you would like to accompany me you are most welcome. If you have no weapons of your own I can supply you with a few. Miyu, Toshiro, come, I will escort you to Lord Aragost."
Rose giggled and reached out to touch the tips of Naida's fingers with two of her own. "Then you and I have something in common," she winked. "This is also my second time coming here. The first time was when I was a child, I was taken away from my home by some very bad men, and Donovan saved me and my brother and brought us here, and then we returned home ... but now we are back for a visit."

Donovan chuckled, Saki and Arwen at times were made for each other he decided they both hadn't quite grown up so to speak. Even though they were very much adults.
"You shouldn't encourage her."

"But it's fun......." Saki purred in protest as she was being petted.
Her tail thumped against Arwen happily and pleased that she was able to catch Roydon off guard. Saki turned out to be quieter than most Fluffy Cats probably because she was use to living among elves who's hearing was beyond excellent and who's footsteps were none existent.
"Besides I have to get my pounces in!"
"Yay!" Miyu slid off the place she was sitting, she had been very quiet at the serious conversation because she knew it was a serious conversation.
After all Miyu had heard the rumours or rather the news as well as anyone else in the clan and knew very well what had been going on.
"I'd like that," Lin admitted, she probably hadn't been with Elros since that one time when she was a child, it was a long time ago now, "I have a knife on me."
Which she was grateful, she actually had forgotten her knife a few times after starting school social experiment, because she wasn't allowed to have it at school, but then adjusting to after school had been hard.
Naida's eyes grew wide (not that they weren't already wide). She had heard a bit about the bad men, but she didn't know that much about them, "Really?" her small hand held onto Rose's fingers, "That must have been very scary!"

Arwen giggled into Saki's fur. "Come on, Donovan, she's supposed to be playful ... she has to keep in practice so that she doesn't lose her touch."
Roydon chuckled. "It's all right, sir, really," he assured Donovan. "It's a bit of a tradition between us now ... a competition, you might say."
"And one they never tire of," Haradhel added with a smile. "Come on everyone, dinner's ready, come sit down." And she beckoned for them to follow her to the dining room, where the smell of a large warm meal was wafting through the air.
Elros walked across the room and took his bow, quiver and sword from hooks on the wall, and once he had each of the weapons on his body he smiled at the children.
"Off we go," he murmured, heading towards the door.
Rose nodded seriously. "It was awful ... I was afraid to leave my home for a long time after that. But now I feel safe here, as long as I'm not alone." Her eyes grew bright. "And I can visit with my friends as often as I like!"

Donovan chuckled and shook his head he was glad Saki wasn't staying with them, having a cat that active just might drive him up the wall and down again. He looked around briefly, it seemed like the kids were on their own.
Which wouldn't be the first time they had done that, besides they probably weren't that hungry.

Kara giggled a bit more and took Donovan's hand, "Don't worry, the kids are with people we know and they'll be fine, besides it was roughly noon when we left so they should be okay."
At least no one was going to go hungry.
Toshiro hopped off the bed and made sure to stay close to Miyu, even though he was fine by himself.
"Alright," he agreed.
Lin followed along with others, it was only when she glanced out the window did she realize the time, but she was sure it was alright. It wouldn't be the first time any of them had stayed out instead of going back to the ranch house.
"That's good, I wouldn't like to be afraid of going out because I'm out all the time, I get to live in a large lake and it has a pretty waterfall and there are these water places where I can go and visit other people without walking and there are pretty flowers that grow on top of the water....." Naida went on, she was very happy to be able to live outside.
Feng giggled to Aliya, "Naida loves her new home, though at times I have to look for her because she forgets the time."

Suddenly Elrohir appeared in the doorway, just in time to hear Kara's comment to Donovan, and he grinned broadly. "Well," he chuckled, "isn't this something new ... Kara's reassuring Donovan, and not the other way around. Is the world about to end?"
He laughed and headed over to join everyone, slapping Donovan genially on the back. "Good to see you again, welcome back," he said warmly, his eyes sparkling impishly. "How've you been?"
He sat at the table, as did the others, and then Ahren also appeared in the doorway. He scanned the room silently with his eyes before he moved to sit down, nodding Kara and Donovan an polite hello.
Elros led the children out of his quarters, down the hall, down the stairs, and outside once more, and started heading in the direction of the forest. There were other elves passing them as they went, returning to the barracks for their meals, but Elros paid them no mind.
Aliya smiled brightly at Feng. "I should like very much to someday see your home," she said wistfully, "or at the very least, a picture of it ... it all sounds so beautiful ..."
Rose giggled at Naida, her shyness gone already. "Well, that does sound wonderful," she agreed.

Kara put her hand over Donovan's mouth so she could say it for once and not him. Knowing Donovan he would glady do so just because he could.
"I'm going to have a baby," she told Elrohir and everyone else who had not heard, which was pretty much everyone else but Haradhel.
Lin watched as the other elves passed, growing up it had become a habit to see if there were any she recongized. Granted she never did get to really know all of the fighters of the Ranch (with the shifts that was never possible), but she knew most of the day fighters at least.
Miyu on the other hand kept close to Toshiro and Elros... or rather Toshiro was keeping close to her (kind of hard not to when she was hugging his arm) and therefore Toshiro was close to Elros.
"I don't think anyone would be pleased if you and Amdir disappeared for several months," Feng giggled, even though she would have loved it as well, "Though a picture I think I can manage. Well if I asked Serenity or Trisha that is."
"Yup so I don't have to worry about not walking yet, because I can get everyone at home and sometimes if we're going somewhere else I get carried like now!" Naida nodded happily.

Donovan removed Kara's hand from his mouth and chuckled at her, "If you wanted to tell him you could have just said so."
He was a tease... and he knew it. He was probably going to get whacked for that too.

"But knowing you, Donovan, you wouldn't have given her the chance even to say that much," Haradhel laughed as she began to serve everyone. "Honestly, I don't know who loves dropping news like that more, you or Ulrich."
Elrohir chuckled. "Congratulations, both of you," he smiled warmly. "I hope it all goes well for you. And speaking of which, how are Lore and Elnara and the twins? It's been a few years since we've heard anything."
There was one elf who passed the group that paused in his step and peered at Lin curiously. His hair was a light shade of brown, his skin a creamy olive colour, and his eyes were a vivid violet. Like the other fighters, he had a bow on his back, sword at his side, but unlike them he also had throwing knives strapped to his biceps and a throwing knife sticking out of each boot - though they were nearly invisible.
He looked up at Elros. "This is her?" he asked in elvish.
Elros nodded, a single nod of the head.
Aliya's eyes lit up. "A picture from Serenity would be wonderful!" she agreed happily. "It's been so long since I've seen her at all ... her work is better than Halmir's, and that is saying something. He's the best artist I've seen in this world - on canvas or paper, at least. When it comes to wood crafts, I've never seen work to rival Ada's."
Rose giggled at Naida and leaned forward a bit, and some of her long black hair fell in front of her shoulders. "You sound as if you have a lot of fun in your new home," she smiled warmly. "How long have you been living there?"

"They're settling in wonderfully," Kara replied with a smile, "I suspect it was a bit difficult to adjust, not because of living in their new home since most of their children have moved out... but rather with Lore working again that I think took a bit of adjusting. She lives close though, to the children that do live on the grounds."
Which were many still... even though Celebor and Idhril weren't... she still couldn't believe that Idril had a daughter but there was no mistaking where that girl got her looks from.
Lin turned to look the moment the question was asked, it took another second for her to realize he was referring to her. She didn't recongize him, it would be hard to forget anyone like him though she decided. His hair and skin colouring were unusual... like the way Artheal's colourings were. She looked between the two men...
"Why do you ask?" Lin finally inquired.
"When she has time then," Feng giggled impishly, "She and Trisha have taken to the project of painting on walls in a lot of the houses, in fact the first places they painted was Elnara and Lore's place, and it's full of climbing roses on the walls."
"Uhm.... a month... or more... I don't know...." she leaned over a bit careful in not to fall out of Adan's arms she reached out to try and touch Rose's hair, "Pretty...."

Elrohir nodded thoughtfully. "It would be quite the adjustment," he agreed softly, "to be together all day every day ... and then suddenly only in the evenings ... and how are the twins? How old would they be by this time?"
He was certain not very old, considering how slow time in Gaia went, but still, he wanted to know.
The man chuckled softly at Lin, his violet eyes sparkling mischievously. "Because it has been a long time since I have seen you, Lin of Gaia, and I could not quite remember if you were you at first."
He grinned. "And do you remember me, by any chance? It has been many long years since we have lain eyes on each other ..."
Aliya's eyes began to sparkle impishly. "And I think you've just given me an idea," she laughed. "If I ever find some spare time, that is. Between all of the children and the animals ... it's amazing I have time to take care of the house."
Adonijah frowned at his mother and murmured something softly in elvish, taking care not to look at Feng and Ryu as he did so.
Rose giggled and held her hands out to Naida. "If you want to play with my hair, you're welcome to sit with me," she invited her warmly. She looked up at Adanedhel, who smiled warmly and nodded, handing the mermaid off to her.

Kara had to really think about it, the other thing was it hard to pin down their birthing day since it was all in elvish months. She really had to ask Elnara about that.
"They are around two months, it hasn't been that long since Elnara and Lore came back so.... it's only been a few weeks or so."
So maybe it was three months.
Lin tilted her head, observations fliting through her head... he talked... sort of formally in a way, but it seemed natural. Why this was she could not say, but his mannerism were very... old fashion? No... just something about it. She hadn't seen him in her last visit, so which mean the last time she saw him she had to be a child...
She chewed her lower lip thoughtfully slowly going through every name... and she realized slowly there was on person she had not met... in a very very long time, "Timaeus?"
After all he had made her think of Artheal... but was his eyes so violet? She couldn't remember...
"Do you go back to the Ranch to care for the horses now that everyone is older?" Ryu didn't use grown up since of course Adonijah wasn't an adult quite yet, but he was close as well there.
"Yay! I like playing with hair, sometimes if I'm up early and Mommy is sleeping I play with her hair," Naida told Rose happily.
Which was true and unfortunately for Feng she learnt getting braids out of wet hair was very difficult.

Elrohir chuckled. "I should have known better than to ask," he grinned. "Our months are so different ... I suppose only Lore and Elnara would know how old they are now. Or at any point of time, for that matter. Youll have to tell them to visit us again sometimes, can you do that for us?"
"Oh, and tell them to come to the Southland," Arwen beamed. "If we get word of their coming, maybe we could make it to the palace in time to see them!"
Roydon laughed. "I'm sure we could ... though we would need at least a week's notice in order to make it in time." By now he was used to the fact that his wife was of royal blood - and not only that but of one of the highest ranks - and talk about the palace, the queen, or anything of the sort no longer embarrassed him.
The man chuckled and nodded his head. "Very good," he grinned. And then suddenly he switched to English. "I suppose your father is here as well, is he?" he asked. "That means we will be heading out on a hunt in the next day or two ... I have begun to accompany the Hunters, I hope he will not mind if I also go along."
Aliya shook her head at Ryu. "I go for a visit once in a while, but that's it," she replied. "Elberon has a new stable hand specifically for looking after the horses' health, so we no longer have to do so. We have our own animals to worry about now ... though I don't think we had the time, the last time you were here, to show them all to you ..."
She smiled warmly. "Perhaps you could go along with Adonijah when he does his chores next," she suggested. "He's always calmer when he's with the animals, and even if he doesn't speak to you at least he won't be running away."
Rose sat at the table and giggled, brushing more of her hair in front of her shoulder for Naida to play with. "Arwen sometimes plays with my hair," she smiled, "but only when Roydon's away working or something."

"I'm sure they will," Kara laughed a bit, "After all, no one in the Southland has seen the twins yet and Yue and Yukito had promised to set up another portal to the Plantation so Elanra and Lore could visit without worrying about the desert."
She giggled a bit a smiled.
"And there was some talk about taking rose clippings from the garden if possible."
And since Celebor had not come on this trip she supposed there wasn't any worry about there being too many people. Though Lin couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed she truely had not seen Timaeus since they were children, but he did said he wanted to be just like his father.
"I'm sure he won't," Lin replied, "Though you'll probably have to re-introduce yourself again. At least I'm lucky we got to talk as children, I don't think he's seen you since you were even younger than that." "It was a short visit, but we were just there for a visit and not because Donovan had a hunt to go to," Feng admitted, "This has to be the first hunt in a long time, I'm surprised he hasn't gotten twitchy from not doing anything."
"He does things.. he bugs the headmaster, even though he hired Lain to do that for him," Ryu replied with a chuckle.
"Really? I haven't met Arwen," Naida admitted taking a handful of Rose's hair, of course her hands were tiny so a braid would take up both her hands completely, "We just stayed here the whole time we visited, but Uncle Ryu says that they always stay here."
The twins since they only rode horse back to spend time with Adan and at times Ahren or Alyse (though that was rarely), never had a reason to go to the Ranch.
