Lenneth's eyes shot towards Brandon the moment he opened his big mouth. She was going to congratulate him on his win, just like any good sport would, when he'd started telling her that it was expected that she would lose. Well of course it was expected! But did he have to say it like that? Her hands clenched into fists and her eyes shot daggers at him. That no good arrogant egotistical pig! Screw congratulating him! What he needed was a good hit on the head to bring his head down from the clouds!

Without saying anything, Lenneth grabbed the pillow that she had earlier been resting her head on and with every strength she possessed (which wasn't really much at the moment) threw it at Brandon's arrogant face. Her sight had blurred though, the moment she moved that fast and she missed as a result. It was only by a few inches and he would no doubt feel the air left behind by the soft projectile. It ended up hitting something at the far corner of the room. The sound of something cluttering to the ground came next.

Her cheeks burned from that mistake and she crossed her arms and looked away, trying to look indignant and annoyed. She really hoped that he hadn't noticed it. Well...the good thing about this was the fact that whatever she had knocked down, it didn't break...or at least, she didn't think it broke.

"Chernobog isn't strong enough to completely dismantle a strong enchantment especially if it was made by a Silverlake," she explained, hoping to sway the topic away from her blunder. There was little chance of that happening she knew but she could still hope right? It was free after all.

Just take the bite will you?

Brandon grinned as the pillow raced trough the air and missed him by a hair. The moment it hit something he flinched a little and looked over his shoulder. Only to find a rather angry looking White Fang shooting daggers with his eyes. Brandon shrugged and pointed towards Lenneth as he was saying that he couldn’t help it.

He turned back to Lenneth and found her looking away with a face as red as a tomato. He chuckled slightly and reach out to ruffle her hair as best he could. With her looking like that he couldn’t help but feel a bit light hearted. It had been a long time since he had seen a woman annoyed and irritated. Ah well, he shouldn’t be getting carried away now should he?

He raised an eyebrow at Lenneth’s explanation and grinned, “that’s good to hear. Otherwise I would have to force you to fix it up again.” He then took a sip from his beer that was standing on the table besides him. “Say, if you are able to thow pillows like that I can take it you are alright. So could you please get out of my bed? I need some sleep since I didn’t close an eye last night. After you had left I had been called to the Wilderness to rescue a comrade.” He yawned slightly and sighed. Well, it wasn’t true what he said but she couldn’t know that. If she believed him she would probably think that he faced her after a night in the Wilderness without sleep and that he still beat her. He was throwing the proverbial salt in the wound with this one.

She mightily scowled as he ruffled her hair. Didn't she tell him already that her hair was something she took great pride in? And he was ruffling it up like a big mop of black mess? This man truly was the most irritating person alive! For the hundredth time she wondered as to how on earth her father could have thought that they would make a great pair. It took only a moment for her to comb it back to perfection with her hand. Once thing great about taking care of one's hair was that it obeyed without complaint.

Her eye twitched in response to his yawn. Didn't get any sleep? Did he not tell her earlier that he'd gotten enough rest? She was brimming with irritation again. Was he telling the truth? If he was...she gritted her teeth as she glared at him. If he was telling the truth, then he'd beaten her fair and square while he had been at a disadvantage. Were her skills THAT bad?!

No! She would not accept that!

"Alright! So you're good at this! There's no need to twist the blade!" she said, almost yelling at him, "this isn't over! DO YOU HEAR ME?!"

"I reckon he heard you quite well miss."

Lenneth looked away to check who had interrupted her. What greeted her was a smirking White Fang.

"You said that it wasn't over," he glanced behind him only to see the other White Fangs in the room smiling in amusement, "ain't that right boys?"

The White Fangs nodded in unison and Lenneth could only turn away her face in embarrassment. She had not noticed that she had already been yelling. This whole conversation was probably going to circulate throughout the barracks for a while yet. Good lord. She really knew how to make a first impression. She glared at Brandon. This was all his fault!

"And I'm not moving from this spot until my head's clear so you can forget about catching up on your sleep for a while yet," she said, trying to even out the odds. It was a lie. Well no! Her statement was true...to an extent that is. While it wasn't exactly feeling her one hundred percent, she knew that she could walk all the way to her home alone without fainting.

Brandon just smiled as she scolded him for ruffling her hair, an honest smile that held no mockery. He had ruffled her hair to tease her as best as he could, the same reason why he told those lies. It was his one big love, teasing people and he only did it with those he liked best, such as One Hit John and Striker. Comrade’s trough tick and thin. It actually surprised him how quickly she had rearranged her hair so it made him wonder what was so bad about it.

He started chuckling when she started shouting, he couldn’t imagine a bigger difference in feelings then these. He was just about to tell her that it was actually a little lie just to get her fired up but at that time things just had to take a turn for the worse. His smile instantly disappeared and he shook his head when Jake opened his mouth.

A blatant idiot in Brandon’s book, the man didn’t know the right side of a sword and was always looking for trouble. Nonetheless he was a White Fang and Brandon never did anything to harm him. But he did outrank him, not by stripes or a title; he had more experience and had been a White Fang longer. So Brandon stood up when Jake and Lenneth had finished talking. He gave Lenneth a short smile, “rest as best as you can. I don’t want you to hit the ground a second time.”

With that he glared directly at Jake and his buffoons, “I suggest Jake, that you and your bunch of miserable dogs stick your tail between your legs and run. Or I might think about taking a few of you along with me on a deep run of the wilderness.” One might wonder what such a deep run is, well, to put it simply it’s running deep in to the wilderness to try and find villages of orcs or trolls, then eradicate them and move on. Basically one of the most dangerous things to do amongst the White Fangs and only done by those who have enough experience. Normally this would exclude Jake but Brandon could ask for special permission to teach him. In this case it wouldn’t be teaching that would happen, more like a beating of sorts.

With the threat having been delivered and with his life literally hanging by a thread, Jake, the recipient of the verbal attack, took a step back. His face scrounged up into a sheepish grin and he laughed nervously before he took another step back. The crowd behind him, carefully taking note that things were rapidly getting out of hand, suddenly remembered that they had something they needed to desperately do. And as one, they all shuffled away, mumbling about their tasks and busying themselves with things that they weren't really planning on doing in the first place. Jake, however, did not retreat and proved Brandon's theory of him correct. He was a total and utter idiot.

"Hey. Sorry man. I didn't know she was off-limits."

It was the wrong thing to say, he realized that the moment an apple found its way right at the center of his forehead. Dumbstruck (in perhaps more than one way), he stared at the innocent red fruit that was laying on the floor. He was rubbing his forehead when he looked at the perpetrator in confusion. Said perpetrator was standing slightly behind Brandon, her right side being covered by the White Fang's bigger body. Lenneth continued to glare fiercely at Jake until the man began to sweat in earnest. Somehow, it didn't surprise him that Brandon was going for a woman who could make a man retreat by just giving him a 'look'.

A while ago the fiery woman had been struck speechless by the very words that Brandon had imparted on her.

“Rest as best as you can. I don’t want you to hit the ground a second time.”

That was probably the nicest thing anyone had ever said to her and she really didn't know how to react to it. One didn't exactly say thank you to words such as those...did one? She had blinked and she opened her mouth to say something before she closed it again and remained silent. She had looked down and focused on the blanket that was covering her legs. She had categorized it as white, soft, and...clean? She didn't know. There was a nice scent coming from it but she didn't really want to smell it just to check what that scent was. It would look...strange to everyone. She had tried to dispel the awkwardness she felt but she was not having much success. Cruelty and harshness she knew how to handle but kindness? that was something else altogether.

She was almost thankful really, that Jake had snapped her out of her thoughts with his careless words. Automatically, she had grabbed the nearest thing to her (which was an apple from the fruit bowl) and had thrown it at the tactless man. Her aim had been perfect, unlike the time when she had thrown the pillow at Brandon. Then she had glared at Jake until the man understood that she was not a woman to be trifled with.

"I thought that Brandon was the most tactless person alive but it seems that I was wrong," Lenneth said as she stepped forward and stopped hiding behind Brandon. Of course, she really just couldn't open her mouth and not insult Brandon. She wanted payback for him ruffling her hair after all and she was going to get whatever it was she could take. She didn't wait for Jake to reply and instead, she turned her attention to the White Fang that she had earlier been sparring with. She grimaced as she tried to get whatever it was she was going to say out of her mouth. In the end, she had to turn her head away, her cheeks a slight pink.

"My father...wants to invite you...for dinner tonight," she mumbled before she scowled and turned back to look at him, "it's better if you don't come though. My family will get the wrong idea," she added hastily. She had mixed feelings about this invitation. On one hand, she didn't her family to meet him and 'formalize' their nonexistent relationship. On the other, she wanted to know how he would act towards her father, the greatest blacksmith in Brindol.

And...and...well, she was the one who was going to cook.

At that very moment, she wanted the floor to swallow her whole. Knowing that it wasn't possible, she crossed her arms and glared at Brandon, "Never mind. Don't come. I'll just tell them you're busy," she said before she made her exit. She was not running, she told herself firmly, she just had to get home now.

Brandon had been smiling all the time. To see those excuses for men cower before him. It’s not that he enjoyed threatening them; it’s more that he enjoyed seeing them sweat and stumble away. Was it not absolute fun to see those arrogant faces go from confident to fear? He raised an eyebrow as Jake said what could have possibly been the worst thing to say. If he knew Lenneth just a little he knew… And there he had it, an apple perfectly aimed hit Jake right in the forehead and Brandon laughed out loud. Oh how much fun this fierce woman was, truly something he would chase after. He was almost having as much fun as when he would try to fight a troll. One misstep and you would be killed. As for Lenneth, one misstep and you would be facing a glare no man dared deny.

He looked over his shoulder and up at Lenneth as she once again insulted him. “Hey, what was that good for? Insulting the man who’s taking care of you.” He shook his head in faked disbelieve as she walked out behind him. Apparently she was feeling better already, too bad, he was enjoying this little moment.

She then suddenly in a streak of shyness invited him over for dinner. Where did that come from? Her father she said, the greatest blacksmith in Brindol had invited him over. Impressive he had to say the least but more importantly, Lenneth asked him. Did that mean something or… Yeah, there he had it, before he could have even thought about it she was already telling him not to come. Well, that did it; he wasn’t busy and would enjoy the meal so why not accept?

When she turned to walk away he quickly grabbed on to her wrist and stood up. “Hold on for just a moment. You still have those bandages wrapped around your head like your some psychiatric patient.”

He grinned with his own joke and little stab at her before he straightened his face properly. “Anyway, what I meant to say is that I would love to come over and have dinner. I’m sure it’ll be great and I’ll try to be on my best behaviour.”

He then seemed to glow a little as he made himself big out of so said pride. “I mean, it would be rude if I wasn’t. Because it’s obvious you really want me to come, otherwise you wouldn’t have even bothered asking me.” He said with as big a smile he could muster and actually knowing that she would have a fit over that last sentence.

WHAT?!

Lenneth looked like she was contemplating murder rather than the menu for tonight's dinner. This arrogant man! This arrogant arrogant man! She could just hit him! She really could! Her hand was even twitching with the need to close it into a fist. The only reason that was stopping her was the fact that she knew they were in the White Fang Barracks and that any act of moderate violence would probably get her locked up for an hour or two. And she really could not afford to give that much time to the White Fangs. Not today anyway.

"I'm not...I didn't mean-," Lenneth sputtered before she caught herself and glared fiercely at the man who was able to get her to be as meek as a kitten one moment and as ferocious as a lion the next, "I asked you because I had to you...you...egotistical tactless man!"

She mentally cringed at the ending of her sentence. She wasn't thinking properly. It was probably because of her head wound, she thought, and not because Brandon had rattled her to no end! She wouldn't give him that much credit. She crossed her arms and blew away a lock of her hair dark that had made it's way to her face. This was so very frustrating. Why was it that he always acted the opposite of how she wanted him to act?

"And you don't have to come," she said as she looked away, "I mean, it's not as if-" her eyes widened as she abruptly stopped herself. What on earth?! She was making excuses now? And she wasn't even sure if it was for him or for herself. Where was her pride?

"Never mind! If you want to come then by all means. Just...don't be late. My father doesn't like it if people are late for dinner," she said as she glowered at him. Her cheeks were pink though. The poor thing was wearing herself out, "now take these bandages off so I can go give my father the news."

Brandon had to admit that he loved each and every moment of this. Lenneth was stuttering and blushing her way trough it while trying to maintain some sort of proud attitude. His facial expression kept changing with each sentence she said. Pseudo hurt when she called him names, surprised when she told him he didn’t really have to come while he had already said he was coming and amused when she warned him to be on time.

He sighed slightly as he stepped forward after her failed rant. “You do know I was just teasing you right?” He said with a soft smile while his hands reached for her bandages. “Come on now, let’s get those of and walk you home.”

He hadn’t expected her to be so tired after the fight and the way she had just worn herself down wasn’t good either. Then again it made the perfect excuse to walk with her, boy was he in luck today.

He then started wrapping the bandages from her head and his hands touched her gently to make sure he didn’t hurt her. “So tell me, why are you always lashing out to people like that? Is it meant to scare men away?” The last part was said with a big grin on his face, once again he was gently teasing her and this time he honestly hoped she would take it better then last time.

Lenneth looked at him with a frown. How the hell did he figure that out? She waited for a few seconds before shrugging her shoulders and looking away. Since the bandages were gone now, it was of no consequence. How should she answer anyway? She cleared her throat before she looked at him again and with a small smile, simply backed away from him. She glanced around, searching for her weapons when she caught sight of the White Fang she had earlier hit with a pillow. He was pointing to a...chest? She frowned and opened the thing and surprise surprise! Her Chernobog and Sun Chakrams were slumbering peacefully inside.

"I...I don't know what you're talking about," Lenneth finally answered as she strapped her weapons to her person. She still had her back against Brandon so he wouldn't be able to see her sorry face. She had never been good at lying. Pretending she could do but outright lying was something else entirely. She cleared her throat before she turned back to him. She was biting her bottom lip, a sign that she was slightly nervous.

"W-well...I suppose I'll be going now. Err...see you later," she said, seemingly not to have heard about the 'walk you home' part of his speech before she made started walking towards the exit...or what she presumed was the exit. She blinked in the middle of her escape and stopped. She'd never been here before! There were so many doors. Just which one lead outside? With an embarrassed huff, Lenneth turned towards Brandon.

"How do I get out of here?"
PostPosted: Wed Feb 25, 2009 5:41 am

He had to admit he was enjoying the current scene quiet a bit. For the first time since he met Lenneth she didn’t have a direct reply ready and to see her in disorder was a bit strange but fun nonetheless. As she searched around for her weapons Brandon sat down on the bed. Surely it would only take a few seconds after she found her weapons before she’ll realize that she didn’t know the way out. Being knocked out never helped improve ones sense of direction.

Was she really so oblivious unaware of her own self or was she just lying? He asked himself after she replied. Surely she could not be aware of her own actions but then again, some people just weren’t and he had seen examples of it himself. So he decided to just let this case rest until he got a bit more evidence. Questioning her any further would push her in a corner and he was sure she would unleash hell upon him if she was cornered.

He was about to raise his voice when she said her goodbyes, hadn’t he told her he would walk her home? But then he didn’t because then his previous assumption came to life. She hadn’t the faintest idea which door to take and the way she looked around was enough prove of that. It got confirmed as she turned to him and asked him. Brandon now stood up from the bed and dusted himself of a bit. “So, are you willing to accept my company now?” He said as he walked away from her and held open the door a few feet further.

“This way milady,” he said with a sarcastic bow and grin. After she would pass trough the door he would straighten himself and walk after her. He would then catch up and accompany her over the courtyard. The rest of the White Fangs that were practicing would only throw a quick look towards her and if they happened to cross eyes a small nod. She had earned some of there respect for standing up and defending herself on instinct after she fell down on the rock. If she had been able to channel that instinct and use it they would have even considered asking her to join them. But seeing how that wasn’t the case she would only receive a small nod.

Once they passed the courtyard and started walking on the streets Brandon would chuckle slightly. “I still can’t believe you pulled such a stunt on me. To try and kill me after seeing your own blood.” He would give her a stab with his elbow to show her that what he said was all in good fun just to avoid her blowing a tantrum again.

Lenneth rolled her eyes at his bow before she left the barracks. She massaged the back of her neck as she passed the courtyard. There were a few White Fangs that she exchanged a nod with but that was all. She'd be back later once she upgraded her skill. The thing that worried her was the fact that she had lost control...again. She'd been trying so very hard to control her instincts and yet, whenever she was caught off-guard, they immediately took over her actions. She supposed she couldn't blame herself for that. It was the trauma from a few years ago that made it so difficult for her to control her own reactions. She should be thankful that her reaction was fight instead of flight.

Still, Lenneth thought as she entered the streets of Brindol, it was quite bothersome that she couldn't control herself. She didn't know if she was ever going to recover from her emotional scar. She glanced to the side at Brandon when he made a comment about her 'going crazy' back when they had been sparring. She felt him elbow her lightly and she raised a brow. The feisty woman put one hand on her hip and smirked at him.

"Believe it. If I hadn't hit my head I would have done a lot more White Fang," she said as she flipped her hair to make it look like she was showing off. She was getting used to Brandon. Her blowing up in his face never seemed to do anything to him except cause massive amounts of hilarity. Sounding like one of those girls in Brindol didn't do anything either. He just called her on her bluff. Now she was going for a different strategy: teasing. It was his favorite sport so she figured that she may as well try her hand at it.

"You better be ready for next time. I'm going to do everything I can to beat you."

They crossed several streets and houses before they finally arrived at the Silverlake Smithery. It looked like an ordinary house actually except that it had a second floor that had the Silverlake inscription on the wall and was larger than most. A garden was at the back but it was plainly hidden by the wooden house. Lenneth approached the door where a sign said 'open'. She turned back to Brandon before frowning and looking away. Hell this was awkard.

"So...thank you for walking me home."
PostPosted: Fri Feb 27, 2009 5:15 am

Oh, he hadn’t expected that one now had he? With one hand on her hip he had expected a mighty comeback but when it was just a tease he got interested even more. Apparently she realised that Brandon enjoyed her outbursts and that she wouldn’t give in to it anymore. Too bad, he figured, they always livened up the conversation. But this, this could also be interesting. As she tossed her hair it ignited a small spark of desire in Brandon. Boy, she was a fine woman he had to admit. Not to forget the way her body bended… He had to stop himself from drooling before he could work up a proper reply.

But by now they had arrived at Lenneth’s house and Brandon found it to be quiet the house indeed. Nothing too fancy but it did point out to people that the residents in this house were wealthy. He then suddenly grabbed her by the wrist as she walked to the door without a word and wanted to enter. Too bad for Brandon he was quick on his feet because otherwise she would have turned around on her own accord.

As he held on to her wrist he looked in to her eyes and smirked. He couldn’t let this opportunity pass; he would just have to do it. His smirk turned dirty and it showed as he got a bit closer and whispered, “You would do anything, to beat me?” Yeah, no passionate kiss or embrace, just filthy words whispered in a tease. She could probably hear the underlying comical tone in his voice. Not to mention that after he said he had a grin of childish joy on his lips.

One thing had to be said for Brandon, he had gut for pulling this one off because without a doubt he was going to get a big frontal slap in the face, a discontent huff and the door slammed in his face. But all that was worth it to just get her riled up and in the meanwhile, have a small peek at her feelings for him. Teasing was one thing, but Brandon did it with such cunning that he got info out of it as well.

Lenneth's cheeks were tinted a slight shade of pink at his insinuation. What on earth? Her dark eyes were wide with surprise and confusion as she looked at him. Her mouth was slightly open as well and it was only when she swallowed that she even noticed it. She would have stuttered and gaped at him had she not seen the playful grin on his lips. Oh so that's what this was all about. The p***k. Well two can play at that game!

The feisty lady rearranged the look in her face into one of a sultry seductress. She'd seen enough of the antics of barmaids out of town to have been able to pull this one off with ease. With a smirk, she stepped closer to Brandon and laid the hand that was free on his chest. She leaned forward, as if to kiss him, but she bypassed his lips and stopped directly beside his ear.

"Anything," she said in a soft voice that was almost a whisper before her hand snaked upwards to his collar bones, "even this."

And with those parting words, Lenneth deftly kicked him in the shins. She stepped back as she let him fall to the ground and glared at the White Fang. The nerve of him. Although she had to admit, he had guts to do that to her. In a way, it actually raised her admiration of him. It really was just too bad that she had experienced such things before. If she didn't she would have been a blabbering mess right about now. And it really was just too bad for Brandon that she didn't mind playing dirty to get her way.

"I have to hand it to you. You have quite the courage to have attempted such a thing."

Crossing her arms, she turned her back on him and started walking to her door to her house. It couldn't just be a normal goodbye and see you later kind of parting couldn't it? She looked back at Brandon before scowling at him.

"And don't be late for dinner!" she yelled at him before she slammed the door close. Inside her house, Lenneth skipped towards her room, a happy grin on her face. Whether it was from Brandon's actions or her kicking him where it hurt the most was unknown.
PostPosted: Fri Feb 27, 2009 6:52 am

First slight confusion and shyness and then she suddenly turned a hundred and eighty degrees as she stepped forward. Brandon raised an eyebrow but his smirk remained. She was really good in this, adapting so quickly that he hadn’t seen it coming. Her hand on his chest however did more to him then just tease. It fuelled the spark from before even though he knew she was just playing.

Her words whispered and her hand that crawled up his chest almost put him on fire. Could this finally be it? Could he finally have found a woman that pleased him greatly? Yet, this was all a play and so he had to ignore it, this wasn’t the true Lenneth.

Then it struck him. Like a bucket of ice water that extinguished his flame; a cheap shot in the groin. He grabbed his crotch and bend over. His face was one of pain and disbelief. He couldn’t believe she would do this, not his groin. He glared at her and bit away the pain as best he could. Why this? Why had he deserved this?

After she had entered the house and slammed the door shut Brandon was still in pain. However, at the moment he could walk up straight with it and as such he did. He walked away from that bloody house and vowed to never return. “Bloody woman, kicking me in the nuts,” he mumbled as he lost his normal cool.

Mumbling all kinds of words he walked over the streets of Brindol. Had he gone back to the barrack right after the kick in the nuts they would have all looked at him, seen where the pain came from and laughed. No, it was far better to walk around to get the pain away and come over as natural as possible.

After his little walk trough Brindol he arrived at the barrack again. A few nods here, some idle chit chat there and soon enough he was lying in his own bed staring at the ceiling. Would he still be going to that dinner? She had invited him again after all so perhaps he should. He then sighed and decided to just let it rest, for the moment he would turn himself on his side and take a nap. His mind always functioned better after a good rest and for the moment he had to assignments on his agenda.

"So what's gotten you in such a good mood?"

Lenneth simply smirked and continued chopping the vegetables. It had been a while since she had cooked in a proper kitchen. It was a world different than the ones where she usually made her meals (the outdoors, the run down inns, and the abandoned huts for starters). She stopped once she had gotten all the vegetables. She placed each type on the side before checking the soup. A little taste and she frowned. Quickly, she crossed the kitchen and grabbed some pepper from the cabinet before sprinkling a little bit of it in the concoction. She mixed it slowly before tasting it again. This time, she was satisfied with the flavor.

"Oh now I get it. It's Brandon isn't it? It's because he's coming for dinner isn't he?"

Lenneth finally turned to her brother. Her smirk was still in place. In all actuality, she did not expect Brandon to come. That blow she had dealt him was her ultimate weapon against suitors. If that didn't get the White Fang to turn tail and run...then she didn't know what the hell would. The point being that Brandon was definitely not going to come and so, she would once again be free of men who wanted to shackle her to their side and be a house wife or their breeding machine. She simply shook her head at him before she sent him to the dining room with the now ready soup.

Turning back to her cooking, she tossed the vegetables on the frying pan and added butter before she began mixing them together. As soon as they were cooked, she placed them on a serving plate and made certain that it looked presentable. She frowned as she put the now dirty pan on the sink. What if he did come though? What was she supposed to do? She didn't know and it dampened her mood. Was he that stubborn? If he was...Lenneth bit her finger. No. No man could be THAT stubborn. Rest assured once again, the lady began cooking the main course which included some roast chicken and her famous gravy.

Out in the dining room, her father and her brother were looking at each other with puzzled expressions. There were both thinking the same thing. Lenneth had managed to scare off another potential son-in-law/brother-in-law. She wouldn't be that happy otherwise.

"And I really thought that this one was able to win her over," daddy dearest said with a sigh as he sat down on the head of the table.

"Maybe it's time we stopped interfering with her love life?"

"Hah! And let her handle it? She'll die a virgin!"

"I heard that!" Lenneth's voice came from the kitchen and the two cringed at the tone.
