'Qiu Lin' giggled, giving her little guardian snow angel a little lick in appreciation. He had no reason to hold back anymore or even care. His brother saw this new him and he couldn't just change himself for Rui. He'd be lying to his face and he couldn't do that. Whatever punishment the ancestors set upon him for it he'd take it.
Cutely, the kitty peered at the two new boys. She didn't know them either, though one looked fairly familiar. And hot. Very hot. The teen picked up the fake tail, twirling it between her fingers before strolling over to the newest masked...whatever it was, leaving the angel's side. "Ah...hello. I Qiu Lin." Once again she curled her arms around his, moving her body closer to him. "We play?" Eye flutter. Big eyes. Small cute smile. Fake chest rubbing against arm. Did desperate people really do these things?

Part of Micajah died with that lick, there was no doubt about it. He could feel his soul shriveling inside of the husk that was his body, the small bit crackling as it gave a few last cries for help before fading into oblivion. It was cemented now, in his mind, that he would not forget this night any time soon based on the reactions of the students (to him and his dress) as well as the interactions that an older boy was placing onto him.
He had to draw the line at the lick and was about to say something when Weiyuan left his side to go off and speak with someone else who had come up and addressed them. He thought he recognized the young man as More, the boy who had torn a door down during that fire incident months before. He narrowed his eyes for a moment as the memory came back, but that quickly subsided once he realized he was free.
This was his chance, and the youth gave a faint smile before hurrying away from the small group that had accumulated. If it looked to others like he was feeling because he was upset about something then he didn't care - it was more or less he needed to get away and calm down.

More chuckled at Scyeth's actions, the boy sure liked to show off. The young man was about to follow Scyeth when the cat-looking girl stuck herself on him. More was startled by "Qiu Lin", but after the surprise came the extreme discomfort of being cuddled by a complete stranger. In addition, the woman was...tall, and her body felt...strange, more angular than regular females (More wondered where he had came in close contact with females, definitely not in this school, perhaps sometimes before he'd lost his memory). The young man coughed awkwardly, and tried to politely pull his arm out of Qiu Lin's grasp and shift out of the way.
"I'm More, nice to meet you. Uh..." The young man worked hard to keep his smile as undisturbed as possible, but he couldn't help but to feel goosebumps creeping up on his skin. Something was off about the cat girl, but More wasn't bright enough yet to figure out what. "Well, there are plenty of games here, I think. Which ones did you want to play?"

Startled, Nathaniel was dragged across the courtyard towards the one person he didn't want to be near. Had he really just given permission to More to take him to Scyeth? That was the equivalent of signing his own death sentence. Shock took over mannerisms and his composure fell to pieces. Luckily it was true that his makeup was so perfect, thus negating most of the emotions on his face aside from the creepier ones. However, it seemed upon this night that the Aussie punk was having a small ordeal and couldn't stand to handle Nathaniel right now. Saved!
But when God closes a window, he opens a door. A this door was all naught. There would be no more good deeds tonight, Nat was sure of it. For as Scy retreated, boyfriend in tow, something else approached. It was worse than Micajah. Frilly and princess-like, Nat could tolerate his cross-dressing acquaintance. Feminine and lacking in seemingly more than one moral value, he was not so sure he could take this student. He didn't know who it was, but strangely More seemed rather friendly and offering his name. Should he do the same? He stared a moment more at the cat girl, stepping away from More as he did so. She was literally on top of him. Adjusting the goggles on his head, he seemingly tried to assume a more cool manner; he couldn't leave More in the hands of this creep!
But how could he intrude? The other seemed much more interested in More than himself. Not that he wanted to change that. But still... couldn't quite butt in without it being awkward. Oh well. Putting a hand on More's shoulder to offer a bit of support, he too pulled a smile on Qiu Lin. It was not a gentlemanly kind however. It was far darker.
"Hello there, I don't mind playing games with you so much myself if you'd be willing to let me join?" Had he really just said that? It sounded more like a scary ***** than a greeting. Honestly Nat! Good job trying to get into the mood. Mentally, he was banging his head onto a hard surface. This felt more and more stupid by the second.

Well things seemed to be moving at a rather awkward pace. Standing back to watch the unfolding disaster, Nash couldn't help but hold back a few giggles, trying his best to be sympathetic toward RuiZhi's current situation. He didn't know much about Scy's boyfriend but just by watching him, he seemed nervous about this event.
Thankfully he was a far enough distance away not to hear all that had transpired. He didn't even think he wanted to know at this point. Rui looked upset, Scy looked like he wanted to kick someone, and whoever that cat person was, just looked gaudy. Shaking his head with amused disappointment, Nash moved along, following Scyeth and others to the first event. He got a glimpse of other students also making their way over. This meant new friends... or at the very least acquaintances.

Oh he was late, very late, and how well did he know it, the sort of late that made him fidget and fuss, knowing how his mother would have scolded him back and forth and sideways and upways and downways about being so terribly rude. But then...some part of him was sharply reminded that his mother wasn't here, and he'd had more important things to do. He'd had to write a note...a note that could possibly tip the scales to his future one way or another. Gods but he was nervous about it, and he'd left paper scattered all over his usually neat floor with failed attempts to pen what he wanted to say.
But it was done...it was done, that was good, now...for better or worse, he'd see how it turned out.
He could hear laughter and voices now, and he fidgeted before stepping out to join everyone, fussing at his costume. Jaden was dressed in his own rendition (though if one thought about it, it was recognizable) of Peter Pan. He'd even mussed his own hair and given him self the 'dirty orphan wild boy' appearance. Authenticity was everything, after all.
Curious as he was about this entire fiasco, his eyes were only searching for one person, no easy feat amidst friends and classmates that were all dressed up as someone else this evening. A few of those costumes were particularly...er...special.
It only took him a moment to find his target, however, the brunette with the goggles. Nathaniel. And was that a...girl...? Maybe? He couldn't be sure, but the feline disaster appeared feminine enough, and Nat was waaaaay too close to her, odd for the British lad, in Jaden's opinion. Shyness coming to the fore, Jaden hesitated, but unfortunately it was too late, he was already in the midst of things and in plain sight, though standing a goodly distance away from Qiu Lin and her apparent entourage. Lovely.

There certainly was quite a crowd gathering and he was really starting to feel stares on him. Either he was pulling this 'girl' thing off really well, he wasn't pulling it off at all, or horny boys were thinking they could get laid tonight. Weiyuan really didn't want the third to be happening. He held no interest for that tonight.
The cat-girl smiled at her current target, snuggling against his shoulder. More....ah, the guy who ripped off a door. She tilted her head, putting a gloved-finger to her pout, searching her English deficient mind for the right words. Though her thought process was interrupted by a......well she didn't know what it was. But he looked a bit creepy....sounded that way too.
But curious eyes landed on the black enveloping his face. Qiu Lin let go of the arm she was holding and stepped closer to this new person. She pressed her body close to his as she lightly trailed a fake claw of the markings. How...unusual. Either way she had two playmates now.
The girl smiled, turning so that she was between both boys, she took an arm in each hand, snuggling both of them. "Apples!"

First mistake: apparently he had come off more alluring than cruel. Second mistake: his costume was too interesting. The consequence: he now had some kind of thing pressed against him and touching him. A shudder ran up his body and all breathing stopped in his throat. Disgust didn't quite register fast enough. Shock set into his body and he stared down at the thing caressing his fast before he was forcibly dragged by it. Screw More! Every man for himself! It took every damn nerve in the poor Brit's body to resist physically shoving this person away. Didn't personal space mean anything anymore? There was such a thing as 'too' in character! And this was it. It was insanely overboard.
Ice ran through Nathaniel's veins and he swallowed hard before gently, albeit as forceful as possible, pulling his arm away from the female wanna-be clinging to him and More. As he took a timid step back, smile plastered onto his face like a fool, something caught him in the corner of his eye. Something green and blonde. Something with two different colored eyes. Jaden! Oh thank Heaven! He was saved. "Ah uh, if uh... you don't mind, I'm going to get a drink...why don't you go on without me?" Social abilities out the door, and mentally apologizing to More, Nat shook himself off a little and walked (brisk as he could without running) over to Jaden. Taking both the American's hands in his own gloved ones, he looked desperately at Jaden, "You just saved my life."
Never had Nat been so shaken except since the death of his parents. However, this trauma was far less scarring and just involved the need to vomit and take a shower maybe five or six times before utterly attempting to refine party manners and try again next year. Toxic green eyes then looked over his best friend, appraising him and trying to put that terrible moment behind him. "Is this why you were late?" he raised an eyebrow, letting go of the others hands and assuming his perfect demeanor again. It took a lot of effort, but now that he was away from the thing he could feel sane again. A slight flush crept across his cheeks: he was disgraced by his inappropriate behavior. Luckily for him the makeup could hide his shame.

Jaden wasn't the only one who was terribly late. Brushing pale hands against an even lighter garment, the hurried teen swiftly observed the finishing touches on his costume before reaching for a little black stuffed cat he then shoved under his shoulder. A billowing colonial shirt draped around his torso, hanging down past his pants, while half the shirt tucked in. It was easier to keep this way and he moved more fluently. Animated feet scurried along the wall, stepping lightly with the absence of shoes to shelter sensitive toes.
Hearing voices he paused and observed before continuing forward, measuring exactly how many people were attending and he tried to distinguish as many people as he could. The costumes were elaborate, stunning, and beyond brilliant. A few students he recognized right off, but for others it took a moment or two for him to conclude an identity. Silent awe spread through him. Elijah was dressed as Thackery Binx. His obsession with old movies was never truer, and due to the Halloween theme, he couldn't help portray a character from a lovable Halloween themed film.
He gave a light chuckle as he spotted Micajah. 'So this is the costume he mentioned. My God, it is brilliant,' he thought to himself. The only oddity was that it was the prime outfit for an upper-class English woman, but the angelic implicates struck 'Lij's interest. It was stunning to say the least. Glancing about the room he spotted other students, another girl, and other unique costumes that intrigued him. How did they all have the time to pull off these elaborate outfits? Elijah just managed to finish his, and it was probably the most simplistic of the populations.

Scyeth eventually set RuiZhi down, hoping some of those idiots followed him. Well, he had Nash, at the very least. And poor More had been captured by Weiyuan. Poor More. The once-blond wondered idly if he should rescue his dear friend, though, he looked like he was actually doing a decent job of trying to extract himself from the clingy situation. Nat deserved every minute of awkwardness he got. (And then Scyeth had to wonder: was Weiyuan in character, or did he re- On second thought, he would just let that thought rest.)
The Chinese-for-a-day wrapped an arm around RuiZhi's waist, keeping him firmly anchored in case the youth tried to make an escape. "Alright! Go on, Nash. It'll be fun." A wicked smile. "I promise I won't hold you under." But boy, that would be fun, wouldn't it?

Well wasn't this just dandy.
RuiZhi had gone from being mildly freaked out by Weiyuan's 'appearance' to being hefted over the shoulder of his boyfriend like he was little more than a sash for the costume. The Chiense youth stayed perfectly still, not wanting to throw the blonde off step, his cheeks darkening from the display. Were he in a better mood, he would have laughed about it, but he was still rather disquieted over his brother...or what remained of him.
Once his feet touched the ground, he heaved a sigh of relief, staying close. Scyeth didn't have to wrap his arm around the shorter teen to keep him still, but RuiZhi was not about to complain. He rested a hand on the one twined around him, more for comfort than anything, turning to give Nash an encouraging smile. Yeah, that was better - he didn't have to let his evening be dominated by his own self-doubt. Luna, but growing up sucked.
"Do you best," he cheered Nash on in his own way, feeling just a bit more at ease.

Jaden blinked, completely dumbfounded by what he'd just seen, and more at Nat's apparent shaken state, goodness, he hadn't seem him this worked up about anything since they'd first really become friends, when the other had let him in. "Your life?" He reached up and adjusted the British teen's goggles a bit, smiling slightly as he felt just a little more comfortable now that he was next to the costumed Nat, no matter how odd the costume might be.
And his secret was still a secret, though it soon wouldn't be.
"And uh...well...it's only part of the reason I'm late." He admitted, "Though a good portion of it was cuz I couldn't get these leaves sewn together in a way that wouldn't tear them." Why yes, the tiny blond had indeed used actual leaves as part of his get-up, going again for the authentic look. Coloring slightly, the blush vivid against porcelain-pale skin - unlike Nat's make-up hidden embarrassment - he looked the other up and down. "Your costume certainly suits." He commended, before letting his gaze wander, seeing what everyone else had come as...barring...the very scary chick...kitty...thing...
Somehow he didn't even want to KNOW who that was.

It was different. He was different. Although the facade was fading to true mannerisms now, it went even further when he was with this boy. With Jaden. Jaden seemed to make everything easy. Seemed to take the tension away out of everything. It was simple. So very simple. And still so powerful. It ricocheted through his body like a rocket and then cooled off. One slight shiver, eyes never leaving the other, he gave a small smile. Real and true. Worthy of who he was. Worthy of the young British boy whose life was filled with tragedies but who would not deny what he had. As the other adjusted the goggles on his head, invading his personal space, he felt no such reaction. No reaction similar to the one that had shot through him with that... thing. Reaching up, he grabbed the other boy's hands and laughed, adjusting his own goggles yet again.
Somehow, being with Jaden made his costume feel less creepy as well. It felt comfortable. Right. Perfect. Just like Jaden. The blush, the bright one that spread across the American's skin like a plague, was what Nat knew him for. It was his best, or if not best at least his most vivid and recognizable, feature. "Wonderful job Jade, it really looks quite authentic. Perfect! Hm?" He looked down at himself again, as if he hadn't been doing that for the entire day already, and then gave a small sigh, "That's the reaction I keep getting." He offered a brave smile to his best friend. His only friend. The only trustworthy person around (perhaps aside from More, but he was a touchy subject just yet.)
So trusting of the American was Nathaniel that he didn't even bother to ask the other reason for Jaden being late. He was sure that whatever it was, it was a good and valid reason. Pure, innocent, and wonderful. Like he himself was. A part of him wondered how long he would be fascinated by the other's good intent despite the world's state. And yet, the other part didn't care, so long as he stayed like that and stayed safe. Yes. Safe.

"Uh..." It was the most intelligent thing he could think to say. That last comment from Scyeth was a bit foreboding but he would trust the youth, so far he wasn't all that bad. "I guess I'll give it a try." Stepping up to the barrel he watched all the apples float about in the water's surface then turned an apprehensive eye back toward Scy, managing a small smile for Rui's encouragement. "Here goes..."
With eyes closed he quickly dunked his head into the barrel mouth wide. Chopping around for an apple he wrestled with one for a moment but it bobbed out of the way resurfacing just as he came back up for air. With water dripping down his face he was thankful for waterproof face paint. "Ah missed..." He chirped stepping aside for the next student to try.

Scyeth had to try quite hard to suppress the urge for a good dunking. It wasn't as though he had anything against the younger student, Nash just happened to be smaller and available. Ah, well. The Aussie just gave Nash a pat on the shoulder when he came up empty-handed. "There are towels right there," he said, motioning to the table for collected apples and drying off. "Now it's my turn," he announced, giving Zhi a peck on the cheek before letting go and slithering (yes, that would be a good term for the slinking motion he used, as though he was stalking the apples so they couldn't flee him) over to the bucket.
The youth pushed his hair back and dunked in, biting viciously at an apple that insisted on floating away. What he wouldn't give for a pair of fangs.
But his mission was ruined and the Aussie resurfaced, shaking like a wet dog as he rung out his hair and pushed it back. Good. The black dye wasn't running. Scyeth turned to RuiZhi and gave him a toothy grin. "Your turn!" he chriped.
