The temple was located in the middle of a vast plain of snow with nothing else in sight. It was twilight, the sun hanging low near the horizon, neither rising nor sinking from the same level but merely circling the sky. Even though it was summer, it was still extremely cold. Made of crystal-clear ice, the temple reflected all kinds of fiery shades of yellow, orange and red. Within the thick walls made of ice, Nerissa sat in the center of the chamber, next to a small, round pool that had been carved out of ice. As she gazed at the blood red liquid within the pool with an expressionless face, almost as though she were hypnotized, her pale lips moved, barely making any sound.

The words
"Reineleae Nerissa of Su!" echoed in the almost silent temple, where the only audible thing was the quiet chanting of Nerissa. The low-pitched voice that had just spoken seemed to be too strong and loud for the shrivelled and gnarled old lady that had silently approached the young girl. Both had the same turqoise mark on their foreheads that vaguely resembled a snow flake, both had the same white fur cloak and both had similar dresses. "As the current Lamiales and the mentor of the future one, I present thee the Cup of Aestartea!" She quietly placed a silver cup with intricate, snowflake-like designs on it, in front of Nerissa. The girl, now having stopped her chanting, picked up the cup, which had a greenish blue, thick-looking liquid in it. Rather than looking at her mentor, she continued to gaze at the blood-red liquid within the pond. The old woman slowly moved so that she was once more standing right behind Nerissa. "May the spirits of snow, ice, water and wind show you the way!" she said in an even louder voice - her voice rose to such a volume that, with the echoes and the absolute silence outside, she almost sounded divine.

Nerissa closed her eyes, her brows furrowed with intense concentration.
"I lay my life in your hands! Guide me through the way, o divine spirits! Open my eyes, give me sight, even if I am blinded by the truth!" she called out, her high voice sounding like the chiming silver bell. Slowly, she opened her eyes, raised the Cup of Aestartea to her lips, and began to drink. Soon, she was feeling faint and her vision became blurred. After that, there was only darkness.

As soon as Nerissa jolted up from her bed and opened her eyes, she noticed that the room she was in was like nothing she had seen before. The walls weren't made of ice; that was obvious, as they weren't see-through. While she could vaguely remember those times, she also knew that the walls weren't made of wood, as wood had a rough texture that these walls did not. Examining everything around her, she could tell that almost nothing was like the ones they used in the temple. Could this be..the house where the spirits live? Is this a trial I must pass in order to be approved as the Lamiales? Mater Laea never mentioned this.. Nerissa thought as she examined everything around her. At last, she noticed a thin, white sheet that resembled some sort of a cloth that lay on top of a small table made of wood. She instantly recognized the runes written on the cloth; they seemed to be directing her to some sort of a dining room. It seemed strange to her that such a rough, unbendable kind of cloth could exist - it seemed pointless. And plus, weren't wax tablets more efficient for writing on?

Putting aside the questions for now, and determined to gain the favor of the spirits, she used the door to walk out of the chamber. She followed the directions, looking around with curiosity, and trying to prepare herself for the ordeals she would have to go through. As she was walking, it became more and more difficult to breathe. She had noticed a strangeness in the air since the moment she had woken up. However, now it was becoming even more suffocating with every step, and she was almost panting as she walked. This must be the first trial! she thought to herself as she removed the white fur cloak that had been wrapping her body. It did seem to feel better at first, yet the heat seemed to increase with every moment.

Suddenly, when Nerissa took another step, the environment changed from the hall she was in into a desert. There was no sun in the clear, blue sky despite the dry heat, and the sand dunes seemed to stretch for ever. Nerissa had no idea what this place was. Placing a hand on her chest, she tried to walk in the sand with her boots made of two layers of fur and animal skin, failing in the process and falling over.

"Hi there, dearie." the strangest voice she had ever heard said as she was struggling to get back up. Nerissa slowly looked up in order to see who it was that had just spoken. In front of her stood a being that looked like a fluted, long and green stick with two arms branching off at different heights. It also seemed to have sharp-looking fur on it, although it was surprisingly sparse. Near the ground, the green being had tendril-like, brownish white branches, the tips of which were stuck into the sand.

Nerissa's eyes widened slowly, and she bowed down in front of the cactus.
"O, great spirit! What is the next test that I shall have to take?" she asked, trying to speak in a loud and rythmic manner just as her mentor had; however, due to the heat, there were many breaks in her speech and her voice came out as though she were being smothered.

A wild laugh came out of the cactus.
"Spirit? I'm no spirit - at least not in the manner that you speak of. Stand up, dearie, I only want to ask you some questions."

Nerissa slowly raised her head, looking at the cactus with a puzzled look, and then stood up in a rather wobbly manner. She felt dizzy; sweat dripped off her chin, and her cheeks had flushed, giving her an unhealthy appearance. "Please..if..if you are no spirit, then please ask these questions quickly so that I may return to the temple, to be tested by the spirits."

"Very well then, dear. What would you do if you failed these tests that you keep talking about?"

"It is the law of Su that if the future Lamiales fails to please the spirits, she is to be killed."

"Hmm. What would you do if all of your powers were taken away?"

"I would live the life of an ordinary woman. However, I would still know that the spirits will guide me through anything I do. Whether I have abilities or not has nothing to do with it. If I talk to them, they will hear me. If I listen to my heart, I will hear their voices."

"What do you hope to achieve?"

"I hope to guide Nila with the help of the great spirits and the other oracles. I hope to help them listen to the voices of the spirits."

"Interesting. I can see that you aren't feeling well, dearie, so I'll just ask you one last question. What would you do if all forms of life died out on your planet? Not because of the great spirits, but as a part of something even greater?"

Nerissa frowned. "I..do not think there is anything greater than the great spirits. However, if that were the case, I would communicate with all the great spirits and all the oracles; I would try to gather power, and I would try to protect that which is precious to me." She hesitated for a short moment, before continuing. "Even if it appears to be impossible, would it not be foolishness to watch without attempting to interfere?"

The cactus slightly tilted itself to the side. "Well, dearie, thanks for answering my questions." it said in a cheery tone. "Now follow me, and I'll take you to the place you've got to be." Without waiting for Nerissa, it began to move towards a point in between two sand dunes. Nerissa followed the cactus, which was moving by sliding its roots in the sand. It was very difficult for Nerissa, and she seemed to lose her ballance every three or four steps; however, the cactus went on without waiting for her. As she was following the cactus through the valley in between the two dunes, she felt that her feet were stuck in the sand. She couldn't move anymore, and the cactus was almost out of her sight. Nerissa bit her lips, looking around desperately, yet there was nothing but sand dunes around - no one could help her out, and she could not pull herself out either. She closed her eyes, her heart fluttering as she was being pulled down in an extremely high speed. Soon, she was in the sand up to her neck...and then, her face was also covered.

Surprisingly, she could feel something solid beneath her, and the air seemed cooler, gentler to her now. She reluctantly opened her eyes, and looked around. She was in a chamber similar to the hallway she had been walking in; however, there were no doors except for one, on which a silver plaque said "Dining Room" in runic letters. She gave the chamber she was in one last glance before carefully opening the door to the dining room and stepping in.

As soon as Nerissa closed the door and turned around to face the table, she noticed that the human-looking beings seated were somewhat taller than what she was accustomed to. Her eyes widened; could these be the great spirits? She bowed down to them.
"O, great spirits! What is the test that I shall have to take? What ordeal shall I have to face?" she asked, her head still bowed as a sign of respect.

Having heard such a loud exclaimation from the small woman, Mishalu turned her head to look down the hall. The young woman was standing in a large doorway. A large table was inside and several were sitting there. Mishalu's hawk like vision would be beneficial here afterall. She wasn't sure as to if she should approach but the toy shifted again, right into her right ankle. She looked down, obviously interupted from her view, and frowned.
"What now?"

"It's time to go -honk!- That way!"
The voice was cute and cheerful, like a young boy who still enjoyed playing with toy boa-.
'Ironic' she thought.
"Where is that way?"
The boat started to rev towards the room where the young woman had exclaimed something about the great spirits.

"WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
Mishalu merely followed calmly. Her senses on full alert.

((A few things to note: I'm assuming that Misha appears shortly after the main batch did, so this is playing catchup to the dinner scene. I started writing it awhile ago, so some parts may not work well with the newer posts... Also, Misha does not speak 'human' language(s) (aka English), so dialog she speaks in her native tongue will be in <> brackets, until the language barrier is solved smile ))

Mishaweha said quietly to the supervising Brave. He nodded in response, still keeping watch over the people. Mishaweha had volunteered to help with the evacuation efforts of Thunder Bluff, their capitol city. The two of them were standing near a line of civilians, waiting for the elevators to take them off of the high mesa. A few pack kodos (large beasts of burden) carried belongings; a few had taken down their once permanent tents, dragging them behind. Conversations were going on, trying to sound light, but all seemed depressed as they temporarily abandoned their home.

Mishaweha hoped it was temporary. She looked around at the now ghost town. Only the tents that were too large to move remained; many of the smaller huts had been removed, so people could have shelter where they relocated. And all of this was because of the earthquakes. They had started not long ago, and came as a surprise to the Tauren. The plains of Mulgore, or indeed, the entire western continent of Kalimdor, was not known for earthquakes. The first one was put aside as a fluke. But then they kept happening. Mishaweha and other shaman had consulted with the earth spirits, but they were too distraught to even provide any coherent answers. Others magics also provided no insight, and the earthquakes continued all over the world. Avalanches and collapses of various rock formations resulted. Parts of the grand mesas Thunder Bluff stood on started to crack. While no solution could be found for the earthquakes, it became apparent that the place Tauren called home was no longer safe.

Once the last batch of people had left, Mishaweha and the others would perform on last sweep of the city, and then depart themselves.

came a cry from the crowd, shaking Misha out of her thoughts. The ground started to rumble, a few chunks of rock breaking off the edge of the mesa. A panicked scream was shushed.

cried the Brave next to Misha. People obeyed, shuffling inwards while keeping their animals under control. Except a young boy, who seemed frozen right at the edge. Mishaweha dodged over to grab him. Standing too close to the edge, she lifted him up. But then the rock beneath her feet broke- she would fall. Quickly, she tossed the boy towards the others; he would be alright. And then she fell off the towering mesa, and tried not to panic.

she started, but they did not respond. Instead, she plunged into darkness, which puzzled her until a rock fell on her head, knocking her out.

---

It was warm. The blankets were cozy. But for some reason her head hurt, and she shouldn't be lying around in bed...

Mishaweha opened her eyes, and stared directly at a pleasant but very strange looking wall. It wasn't her tent at all. Why in fact, she was supposed to be helping with the eva-

The Tauren leaped out of bed, looking around quickly, remembering what had happened. This was not where she was supposed to be at all. It didn't make sense- she had fallen. But what was that blackness? Some sort of mage trick?

she thought to herself, calming down enough to take a closer look at the surrounds. She gentle touched the smooth walls, felt the fine fabric on the bed. She paused for another moment, contemplating that. How could she have gotten to human lands?

She then a note sitting near the bed, addressed to her. She picked it up and read it over. She turned it over a few times, and the pocketed it. Mishaweha then noticed some of her gear carefully laying against the wall near the door. Shrugging again at the oddity of it, she fetched the gear and equipped herself; afterall, there was no telling what she would be facing in this strange dream (for that was the explaination that made the most sense to her, even if it felt much to real to be a dream).

Making final adjustments to the positioning of her wolf-helm, Mishaweha approched the door, pressing an ear against it. She could hear voices. Opening the door, she peeked around outside, and saw a gropu of humans turn a corner. talking. She stayed still a moment, and it didn't seem like they noticed here. Which was good. She didn't want to fight them, and that's often what humans wanted to do, in her experience.

she reasoned, and began to follow the note. Left, straight, right, left, right....

"Hi there!" said a long, looped up piece of cloth. Mishaweha looked up from her note and blinked. She could've sworn that bandage spoke something. she asked.

the bandage said again, this time in a language Misha could understand.

<... Hello,> was the Tauren's weak response. A talking bandage!?

it said. Mishaweha merely nodded in response.

the Tauren responded; she had been so busy she had forgotten about it.

she amended.

Mishaweha paused at this one. There were so many close to her in her life. she narrowed down the answers.

The bandage bended a bit, as if to nod.

she answered without hesitation, only afterwards wondering how the bandage knew so much about her already...

Misha said softly. will do it again.> She glared at the bandage for a moment before regaining composure; the idea that her people would be destroyed was most upsetting. The bandage didn't seem to take notice of that.

With that, the bandage waved a tendril at her in farewell, and the floor let out beneath Mishaweha before she could even respond. She fell down for the second time that day, though this time the fall was automatically slowed. She landed gently in front of a couple doors. A quick check of her note indicated that this was indeed the dining room. She opened the doors, entered, and almost ran out again.

Inside the room sat the humans she spied before, most of them eating at the table. A second set of doors to her right had a person in front of it as well, pale, and bowing before the others in the room (some where giving that girl some strange looks). She attempted to open the door behind her again to get out, but it seemed stuck (she could see a piece of cloth through the door's crack and mentally cursed the bandage). Instead, she opted to edge slightly away from the door and the dining people, and tried really hard to look friendly.

Following the instructions the foglets gave to him he walked through the boring halls. This had to be the cleanest and most boring building he had ever been in. Yawning he made another turn and ran smack dab into some strange animal. "The ******** is that?" He muttered staring at it. The creature seemed to be a sort of tall animal thing that had lots of hair. Scratching his head he waited for the foglets to analyze and see just what this strange thing was.

It turned out it was something called a llama, though they were supposedly only alive on the human reservations. Frowning slightly he scratched his head. "Ok, so there is some strange llama thing, well whatever." He muttered and did his best to step around the strange creature.

"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?!" The llama yelled at him. Well not really yelled but for some reason he gave the impression of a loud over narrating voice.

Glancing back to the llama and frowning slightly. "Umm I am trying to go wherever I was instructed to go?"

"NO! YOU NEED TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS THREE! THEN I SHALL TAKE THE!"

Laughing slightly at the llama and turning to face it he shrugged, he had done crazier things, why the hell not. "Ok sure why the hell not?"

"INDEED! WHAT IS YOUR NAME?"

"Full name or just first?"

"FULL."

"All right, its kinda long, well not really." He scratched his head slightly doing his best to remember all of it, the foglets kindly reminded him. "Ah it's Alt Misu Quin Lang. Doesn't really fit does it?" In all honesty he didn't really like his name, usually choosing to just go by the first three letters.

"NO IT DOESN'T. NEXT QUESTION! WHAT IS YOUR JOB?"

"Well its more of a hobby, but I do get paid for it I guess, anyway I am a hacker. Haven't ran into a system yet that can keep me out." He was pretty proud of that, and people had tried to desperately to keep him out.

"SOUNDS LAME." Alt frowned at that comment but didn't say anything. "LASTLY WHAT DO YOU TREASURE MOST IN THE WORLD?"

"Haha! That's an easy one! Myself, if you don't treasure yourself most then there really isn't any point in being here is there?"

The llama didn't say anything at that but turned around and clipped through the hallways. Having nothing better to do Alt just shrugged and followed him. Soon they were at a set of doors, one of them had a large cow type person, they were probably a trait user having fun in a different body for a while, the second was some girl who was bowing before a large table with people in it. "Kay... Well thanks for taking me here strange talking llama!" Alt waved at it before stepping around the girl and into the room. "Sooo whats going on here?" He asked before he just started laughing, something about this whole situation seemed funny.

This must be one of the great spirits of land! Nerissa thought to herself as Mishaweha entered the dining room from another door. However, it does seem strange - if she truly is one of the spirits of land, there is no reason for her to be here. It is said that only the spirits of water, wind, ice and snow appear before the oracle of the North, the Lamiales. She raised her head slightly in order to see Mishaweha better. She had never seen such a being before - she looked rather intimidating, with her great size, yet she could tell that there was something that seemed..gentle about her. Why would a spirit of the earth come to her initiation, if they were not meant to appear? Nerissa bowed her head once more, thinking that all would be revealed soon enough.

Nerissa did not look back to see who it was when another person came through the door she stood in front of. Perhaps it was the spirit of ice, encompassing the whole northern region, and thus being the strongest one of them all? Perhaps she had come to tell her the tests she had to go through! However, as the person stepped around her in order to enter the room, she noticed that it was a male. She waited quietly for him to say something, and he did talk; however, what he said was far from what Nerissa had been expecting. Hearing the casual way of his speech, and his laugh, her eyes immediately widened and she straightened her back, looking at him with eyes willed with a mixture of curiosity and shock; her face, however, appeared to be completely emotionless. She reluctantly approached the man, who was much taller than her, and wore clothes she had never seen in her life, not even when she lived with her family in warmer climates.

"..Um..Excuse me.." she said in a very quiet voice, as though she were afraid of upsetting someone. "Do..do you not know what is going on here? I have never heard of a male oracle in my life - where have you come from?" She clasped her hands on her abdomen, right below her chest, and tilted her head slightly as she looked at him. She looked strangely childish, and her high voice made her appear more so. After hesitating for a brief moment, she continued to talk; meanwhile, she was scanning him with her eyes, trying to take in every detail. "Do you come from the southern lands, near the Great Desert, perhaps?" Then, as her eyes slowly shifted towards those sitting around the table, she asked in a hushed voice, "Are you not afraid of angering the great spirits?"

Jade's fork dropped at the sound of the newcomers. One of them was a walking cow, but on two legs! Talk about diversity! It was kind of scary. And then the clothes that everyone wore was interesting. "Hi?" she waved lamely. What great spirit?

~~

The butler had now reached the dining room and motioned for the others to sit at the table. "Please be seated. Your meal will be served." Due to the magic in the castle, the Lady had arranged for language barriers to be broken.

Misha was in just an overall shock. She didn't show it but looked as though she was ready to facepalm at the situation. There was a cowoman, someone who proclaims people to be great spirits, and people wearing weird clothes. Where she came from, clothes were very diverse so she didn't mind but some of the fabrics she had never seen before. She was curious about the fabric, but kind of weary of the people.
"Through the door. Through the door!"
The boat chimed. It sounded like an excited little boy, pulling his mom to the park.

Misha looked down at it, arching an eyebrow. She then proceeded in. A butler walked up to her and ushered her to sit. She sat the furthest away, with out sitting at the head of either table, unsure of what was going to happen. She was confident in how she portrayed herself. What happens happens, but for once, it wasn't predictable.
'This should be interesting.'

"Hello," he said. "Can I assume all of you have been ripped from wherever more or less instantly? We have been also. My name is Cyler, this is Jade, Jonathan, and Hope. We are currently awaiting the 'Lady'. A being who, hopefully, can give us some answers." Cyler eyed the newcomers with a great curiosity. What he saw surprised him a little. 'Well we have a walking cow and another human... I think and an human with pointy ears. Well after the things I’ve seen so far I guess I’m not as surprised as I thought.' Cyler was careful not to say that incase he angered the newcomers. "Well anyways why don't you all take a seat. The food delicious."

Hope was starting to get fidgety. She was torn between wanting to be home - the increase in monsters was a threat that needed to be taken seriously and she wanted to start on that, and being full of curiosity for all the newness’ - especially Jonathan's arm and strange weapons!

Hope watched the others enter the room. She could tell by their various expressions that none of them really knew what was going on. Just how many people were being brought here?

Misha, seated, looked around slightly but her eyes darted towards this 'Cyler' being. He was taking on a leadership role which could be presumed to be a problem. She decided eating was NOT an option. At least not yet. She had eaten recently and her stomach said no. Something was different and there were many types of food around. She was used to the natural foods of the environment and prepared food didn't really sit well with her. Her expression was bored but whenever someone made eye contact with her she smiled reassuringly. She didn't want people to start freaking out now. That could pose a problem.

The remaining guests' favorite dishes are immediately served as they sit down. The butler smiles slightly and says, "This should be all the guests that we are expecting."

Mishaweha blinked in surprise as a newcomer walked in and spoke- not in surprise of his appearance (which was strange, from what Misha recalled humans looking like), but for the fact that she understood him! The words at first sounded foreign, but their meaning was immediately supplied in her mind. The effect was slightly unsettling, but, she mused, very convenient.

The small human asked the new one about what was going on, and about spirits. It piqued Mishaweha's curiosity; were there great spirits here? If there were, she couldn't see them. There were only humans... well, mostly humans. One at the table appeared to have a metal arm, and none of them were wearing the 'right' clothes.

"Please be seated. Your meal will be served," said the butler who had entered without Mishaweha noticing, voice magically translated in her head. She pulled back for a moment, startled, and then moved toward the table where her gestured. She pulled off her helm as she walked, giving a nod of thanks to the man. As she sat another entered. "An elf! Hm..." thought Mishaweha. The new one looked similar to the ones from her own world... but still not the same.

And then, magically again, food appeared in front of her. Succulent kodo steak, fresh Mulgore bread, and a grain salad were on the plate, with a cup of fresh melon juice. Her stomach gave a slight gurgle, reminding her that she was indeed hungry.

Before digging in, however, another at the table spoke, giving a synopsis of what had happened to him and several others at the table. Not quite the same as the black hole she fell into, Mishaweha thought, but fairly close. She began to eat, listening for further information the others could provide as they waited for the 'Lady'.

Nerissa hesitated for a moment as the butler made a gesture that was both alien to her, yet one that she could clearly see what it meant. Would it truly be alright to sit down? Yet from the looks of it, no one really seemed to know about the great spirits. If they were not the great spirits themselves, and if they were not oracles like her, then where had they come from? And where were they? She looked around herself carefully once more, and then slowly moved towards the table with visible reluctance. Everyone seemed to be dressed so strangely! And the names that the young-looking man who had called himself Cyler uttered were absolutely foreign to her. She looked around once more, and then seated herself next to Mishahewa.

As Nerissa sat down, several small cups appeared on her plate. One seemed to have a red, transparent liquid with a great number of various types of berries, mostly red and black in color, floating in it. The cup itself, a deep blue in color, was immediately surrounded by frost, and steam began to rise from the liquid itself. In another, emerald colored cup were chopped up squares of dried meat. In a third cup, this one dark red, were a pile of small, round and smooth-skinned fruits of a bluish white; their surface strangely looked like mother-of-pearl. Nerissa glanced at everyone else, uncertain about whether it would be rude for her to begin or not, but as many of the people seemed to be eating, she decided that she could help herself. After murmuring a soft prayer of thanks to the great spirits, she picked up the blue cup with the berries and the liquid in it, and began to drink from the cup itself. Meanwhile, she was still observing the people around her.
