"Wonderful." he intoned, another soft smile gracing his features. "I was hoping you'd be interested in coming by to read a bit of those books with me."

Tal smiled. "Of course, if you're truly interested."

"I am."
Soon after they were in Mr. McAvery's sitting room once more, the larger of the two books opened in Talhevar's lap. Riot had positioned himself gracefully upon the one arm of the chair, balanced in such a way that was attributed to his feline blood.

"Where would you like to begin?" Talhevar asked, flipping through pages, "It can be read in a great many orders, but perhaps we should just begin at the beginning?"

"Probably. I'd get confused if we started somewhere else." the other admitted sheepishly. He did have trouble getting lost if he couldn't read what was in front of him.

"Alright," Tal smiled, and he began, "The relationship between edhel and the amar, that's 'Elves' and 'the word', is built solely upon respect."
His head was acting as a instant translator.
"To respect the naneth, I assume that's 'mother' to you, means respect in return, and thus a harmonic balance between the living and the eternal."
So much reading. Relating Elves to nature, to the world, to the skies. In hours, Tal reached the end of the section.
"--and unto the last day of his life, he shall be cradled by the naneth, and treated as her child until he is enveloped in her...forgiving? Forgiving or loving bosom."

Riot listened with rapt fascination, his feline features twitching with peaked interest or intrigue at each new thing. He stored these words and the information he heard in the back of his mind, neatly filed to be brought out as need arose.

Tal took the ribbon hanging from the binding of the book and marked the section off. He was smiling, content, comfortable. Hm! A very long time had passed!
"Did you like it?"

"Mhm. Quite a bit." he explained softly, his voice a little awkward to use after such sweet silence. Listening to Tal read was rather nice in and of itself.

Tal nodded. His voice was quiet, rich, melodious. One of his best features.
"...and now what?"

"I wouldn't know. I don't completely want to move." he admitted, laughing lightly. "I've gotten comfortable sitting like this."

Tal nodded and stretched, a rather feline movement in and of itself.
"I agree."
Oh my, Riot! Was that a hand on your leg?!

The feline male's tail swished softly as he noticed the hand but beyond that, he gave no notion that he'd noticed the contact - no objections. His smile did get a bit wider though as he relaxed more into his position.

Seeing no objections, Tal went a little further. He rested his head beside his hand, closing his eyes. Contact was warm and wonderful...maybe they should read that section next.

Softly, the arm that was upon the back of the chair reached down to brush a lock of the elf's hair back behind his ear, as the man often did himself. Nope, no objections there. He might just have to inquire about other sections of the book that might indicate certain information later on...
