The trio, D, Gina and the child arrived in the Village of Lorta just as Dusk of the second day, from meeting one another, broke over the horizon. They had to devaite from their path and find a darker one to travel during the daylight hours, of yesterday, for Gina. Even as it was now the Noble would be dying to seek a shadowed area as the sun started to rise.

Ds steed silently went by the houses, whose occupants where just starting to wake. Stopping his mount infront of a tavern, only to turn his head to look at Gina from over his shoulder. "I suggest you get a room here, keep a low profile for the day and by night head to somewhere safer." D said in his usual monotone voice. This is where the girl got off and there was no arguing the matter, not with those eyes looking at the girl.

D and his mount could be clearly seen from where the old man and child where. The youth wasnt to far from their home, and he did stand out even in the morning hours. His all black clothing, long hair and beautiful features caused him to stick out like a living shadow.

"Where's your Aunts house?" D inquired as he turned his gaze to the child now, once Gina had dismounted from his steed.

The child looked down and just slid from D's horse without a word. He didn't have one but had grown fond of Gina. "Don't have one." He turned his head up to D. "I'm going to go with Gina. She's nice to me and I like that." He turned and headed over to the noble, grabbing her hand in his.

"Come on Gina! Let's get you inside!" Atleast with the child by her side, she would appear more human that normal.

-------------------------------------------------------------

The boy looked out as he heard a horse drawing near. He blinked and lept down the steps of the porch. The boy ran into the street and could hardly believe his eyes. Even in the little light, he knew who it was. He could tell from all the stories his grandfather told him. "Old man! Hey old man!! Come here! Quickly!"

The old man groaned and slowly pushed himself up out of his seat. It was so hard to get up these days. He slowly made his way down the stairs to the anxious boy that was jumping around. "What is it Gregory.."

"It's him! The guy you told me about! It has to be him! You said he rode a magnificent black horse that looked like a demon from hell! And you said that he wore only black and that you could see his light skin in the moonlight! It's him Grandpa! It has to be him! Maybe he can help us!"

D frowned ever so slightly it didnt even looked like his expression had changed. The child would rather be off with the Noble girl then him? D silently watched the two go, part of him not liking the fact that the child was running off with a Noble, but it seemed he had little say in the matter.

By the time the two slipped into the Inn D had lashed the reins to his steed and started to head to the Mayors home, or at least what he expected was such. He halted his steed not soon after lashing the reins, when the sound of a shouting child came to his keen ears.

Turning his gaze in the direction of the home, D watched the child grab his granfather and continue to shout something and look in his direction. D gave his horse a kick and headed in the direction of the house but not nessecarily to it just yet. After all the child could just be curious about the youth, something he got alot of and had stopped paying attention to frantic children, swooning women or angered men as he went by. Though his instincts told him these two had something to tell him...

"Look Grandpa! He's comming this way! I can't believe it! I'm sorry I didn't believe your stories Grandpa!" The youth appologized and stood beside his grandfather as the horse came down towards their home. The old man smiled and looked to D. He knew he would stop.

Once he did, the old man slowly walked over to him. "D, it has been a very long time since you've been here. I do hope you've been well." The old man bowed his head out of respect for the great hunter.

"Grandpa! Look at his face! He really isn't human is he?" The child walked around the horse and got a good look at D's face. It was still so young. He ran back to the old man and behind him. Such a thing was unnatural to him.

"Don't be rude Gregory. Now appologize. You wanted a great hunter, and he has come to deliver us from evil just like he did before."

The boy lowered his head and stepped foreward slightly. "Sorry Sir..."

The old man ruffled up the boy's hair with his decrepit hand. "Go find a nice stable to put the horse in once he has dismounted."

"But where will the hunter stay?" The boy looked from his Grandfather, over to D and back again.

"He is a hunter and a guest in the town. He will stay wherever he pleases."

D halted his horse when the old man smiled at him, he recalled the mans face, even though it was much older now. D didnt seemed surprised when the old man remembered his name, he was a hard character to forget, even if you only saw him in passing.

D watched the child as he observed the youth it wasnt until the boy had settled and the old man was finished talking that D spoke up. "What kind of evil?" D inquired, ignoring everything else that was said between the child and old man, for now. D stayed atop his mount for the time being, it wouldnt be until he had the information he needed that he would consider dismounting from his steed and housing it somewhere.

"A vampire. It is always a vampire isn't it? That is why you are still in business." The old man was having a hard time talking so the boy took over for him.

"His name is Raziel. He lives in a castle he took over not to far from here. Just past the next town. But his reign continues to extend every day. We've had numerous people kidnapped and we are at wits end. If we don't give him what he wants, he'll come and wipe us out like the other towns. So we have no choice but to give him a sacrifice every week. We sent another hunter after him but that was four days ago and she still hasn't come back. I think it's safe to say that she's dead. But something has to be done! We can't live like this anymore!" The child stomped his foot on the ground as he tried to get his point across.

"That's enough. There is no need to put an extra emphasis on this. This man has been hunting since long before even I was born." The old man took a few deep breaths as he kept his hand on the boy's shoulder, more for support than anything else.

"We tried keeping him out of the town, we really did. But he cut through our best men as if they where nothing more than dried out leaves in autumn."

A small part of the youth had to wonder if Raziel the Noble the boy and child spoke of was the Noble girl's father. It didnt sound like it, but such things werent left unexpected, not in Ds mind. D nodded lightly, unable to turn down a job that meant cutting down another vampire, even if it meant no pay for him.

"How often do the kidnappings happen and whens the last time you gave him a sacrifice?" D inquired while he ran through a list of things to do in his head. First it was to get as much information as he could from the child and oldman, then he would head to the mayor, to see what he knew about this dilemma. Then he would offically take the job and seek out the noble before striking him down, preferably before nightfall.

"Again, it was four days ago. The female huntress that came into town insisted that we offer her up so she could get into his lair without a fight. Everyone thought she was crazy and it must have been so. He should be comming back for another sacrifice this sunday." The old man sighed and rubbed his head.

"Luckaly, she didn't want any money. She just said she wanted supplies when she got back. We have plenty of money to hire you if you will accept the job. Lodging and anything else you need will be free as well."

The other hunter they spoke of would that be the mortal female he had come across? She had certainly been a huntress, and in quiet a rush. Maybe he didnt have to speak to the mayor, if what the child and old man said then there wasnt much time for information gathering, then again there wasnt much more to be gathered.

"Ill take the job." D said after a moment. "Ill expect payment after i dispatch the noble." D said to the old man and child before he turned his gaze to the horizon. It was early and the blood that ran through his veins begged him to sleep but he couldnt, not yet. First he was going to head out to the noble's castle and see just what he was up against.

"Tell the townsfolk not to give another sacrifice to the noble. Keep inside your houses tonight, board them up if you must. Ill be back before nightfall." D said before he lashed the reins to his steed and headed off, back out of the town and to the next one, which he knew was not far from here.

Seventy years had passed and he ended up back in this town, ridding it of a noble yet again. And if his memory served him right it was the very same castle as before.

"What is it about tonight? Two vampires following you, one attacking a village not far from here, and now another attacking this one! Did someone stick a flyer on these towns 'please attack here'? You know i bet its all connected, but of course you've thought of that already." The voice spoke up. "I wonder if well get to see that sexy huntress again.... mmm. I think she fits you, cold, distant, hot.... your perfect for eachother."

"Shutup.." D said sternly, luckily they were out of the town before the odd conversation started between the two.

Gina had watched most of this event from the doorway as they had entered the hotel. she heard the old man talk of a vampire, and she began to wonder about it. who is this man? she thought to herself. why is he around here? such a peaceful place....
"o my" a womans voice disturbed Ginas thoughts. "what a strapping man on that horse." she said as she went to the front desk. Gina sighed as she turned her head to the older, much bigger woman. "hes handsome, and seems to be such a gentleman. i'd love to get to know him." she said, hinting at Gina to get her to make the vampire talk to this human. Gina turned her head, watching as the vampire that saved her a few times. she could hear a voice talking with him, but that was only because of her sleek hearing. she felt a small smile grow on her face, thinking about the womans claim. "i dont think he is interested in maiden comfort." she finnally said, and looked back at the woman, feeling a frown make its way to the end of her cheeks. "room for two please." she said, holding the young boys hand. "and i would like to have a dinner, if that is possible." she said, already knowing what she would get. a raw steak, that has been freshly cut. this would be a good way to get her thirst quenched.

Catherine or Cat as she prefered to call herself now looked at the small town in front of her. She quickly took out a map as she reined Lucifer to a trot and studied it with her violet eyes. The map had named the town Lorta and she was heading to it. Her stomach growled loudly and her cheeks were painted pink in embarassment. It had been three full days since she had something to eat.

Once she had arrived into the town, Catherine trotted up to the hotel and reined Lucifer to a halt at the entrance. With the grace of a noble she dismounted and walked inside leaving Lucifer untethered. A sudden whinny caused her to turn with her fiery red hair whipping around like a fan and stared at him with a curious gaze. Lucifer had his ears pinned back and pawing the ground in anger. He was just like her, stubborn and high spirited to the end and that was why she chose him to acommpany her rather than her own horse.

" I gave you my apple"Catherine said recalling how she had given him her apple and that was the last bit of rations she had since yesterday. With a shake of her head she walked into the hotel and went straight up to the front desk.

Gina heard the noise of newcomers as she turned her head to the woman who gave her her dinner and the boys food as well. she saw this out the window, although it wa getting harder to watch without getting burned. she thakned the woman as she left, and she gave the boy food. she looked at the window again. she put a curtain over it, her skin feeling too warm for comfort. she turned to the small boy. "are you hungry?" she asked. "i bought food for the both of us." she smiled

"Wow really! Thank you Gina!" The small boy ran over to claim his plate to her. He smiled and promptly took a seat on the floor and started eating. He finished his plate in no time since he hadn't eaten in days. He practically licked it clean.

"Mmm, that was good! Thank you Gina!" He smiled and put the plate on a table before going to the window that Gina was just at. He looked outside and noticed the woman on her horse. "I hope we weren't followed. Gina!" He turned his head back to her and closed the curtian again as he ran over to her. He grabbed her hand energeticly and looked up at her. "You don't think we were followed right?"

The castle that laid beyond the town stood as a beacon of lost hope for any that gazed down on it. It had been daylight just a moment ago but now the area seemed to be covered in a thick cloud. The smell of death laid over the entire area. Jagged rocks popped up from the ground, ready to claim the life of whoever happened to stumble on them.

The path towards the castle was long and desolate. No one in their right mind would have crossed this way. The tracks that were still laid into the ground had been that of Raziel's horse drawn carriage. Though by now, they were cold. As D moved closer, he would be able to see a massacure. There seemed to be hundreds of bodies. Each one of a horrible monster that had once been a man.

Some had strange new appendages comming out of their bodies, others seemed to take on the shapes of tree's or plants. Some had green skin and large leather wings, while other's still have massive claws and fangs that barely fit in their mouths. They were creatures that not even God himself had ever intended to place onto this earth. It was certinly nothing that anyone in their right mind would possibly concieve of.

Laying among the bodies, was that of the white mare that the huntress had once been riding on. It's neck had been torn out by one of those horrible creatures, and the poor beast bled to death. Though the saddle was still there, the bags that held various items were not.

Guiding his steed over the desolate path avoiding the jagged rocks and following the cold tracks of the carriage to the castle. His eyes stayed on the road ahead, not seeming to take note of the horrific creatures that should have never existed in the first place. His blue eyes did catch the sight of a white mare, one familiar to him, dead upon the ground.

"Such much for her staying safe eh?" The voice commented, though the comment was one of regret. A child could have put together what had and was going on here. D continued on his way, not even to stopping to examine the dead mare.

It wasnt long before the youth came upon the courtyard of the castle. Dismounting from his steed D left the animal loose, if it should be tempted to run, but usually it stayed put no matter what happened. D had made good time, and with a glance to the horizon he saw the sun rising steadily, even if the area around him was cast in shadow.

"No doubt the work of those damned candles or a weather controller. Just watch yourself." The voice from his hand warned as D walked up to the castle doors, his blue pendant glowing brightly.
