"I...Well..." Trying to think of a comeback was hard when the person you intend to comeback at was right. "You spit the blood out before..." Was all the Russian managed to come up with. As Einar let go Lai inspected his hand. Very clean, very thorough. The blush that was fading slowly rose anew. An unreal thought at the back of his mind teased Lai as he looked at the blond man.
What if he is a vampire?
Lai shook his head. Stupid. Of course he's not a vampire. They did not exist while Einar...Einar very much existed. As soon as Einar spoke and started moving Lai came out of his ponders and followed, tagging along only a little ways behind and leaving his bicycle where it was.
What if I do not want to wander?
As Einar paused in front of his door to open it, Lai was not looking around, just at the door and the hand on the knob. The creaking of the door opening automatically got Lai moving as he followed Einar in. Once inside he glanced around the room and smiled at the state of it. He stopped near the middle, waiting and watching as Einar got the cream and gauze.
"Your room is certainly...More lively than mine." Lai smiled as medicinal cream heated the wound up again. It did not sting so bad anymore and Einar standing close again made Lai feel odd; safe yet not, hot but cold, a myriad of feelings and their opposites. These feelings puzzled him, but feeling content presided over them all and he was.
"I do not know how to thank you enough Einar." He started, thinking over how he could properly thank the man as gauze was placed over the cut. "Maybe sometime I could make you dinner? It is the least I can do for you." Lai referred back to Einar asking his talents and the man seeming interested in them. He hoped Einar would agree to that as payment. If he said 'yes' Lai could go about one of his talents and get a chance to speak to the Norwegian again without either of them being startled at first to the others presence.
As soon as Einar was finished Lai gently touched the covering on his face. Secure and barely any pain now. He smiled as he made eye contact with the other man.
"Once again...Thank you Einar." He paused, remembering a question Einar had asked him back in the facility. "The reason I want to be like you is because I admire you. You are talented and quite smart and keep a level head in troublesome situations. Even though I forgot you, seeing all that back in the training facility...You deserve admiration." Another smile and flushing of the face.
So close...Why do I feel like this? What is this feeling? And does he feel it too?
Lai felt awkward, he did not know how to continue. Oddly the awkwardness was pleasant. He would have stayed there for as long as he could until it dawned on him.
"I left my bicycle in the training facility."

"Dinner sounds good, but I wonder if you can cook traditional Norwegian foods better than my Mom does."
He was joking around of course, as his mother burned anything she got her hands on (even water), so a meal cooked by a man with no sense of taste would do about a thousand times better then that woman. Even Einar could do better than she could and he tended to put too much spices and salt into things.
When the wound was finally covered he gently patted the gauze with the tips of his fingers, feeling a little proud at his own style of field dressing. He hadn't gotten much practice in lately with things so peaceful around here, so he'd been worried he was a little rusty, but to see his job done Einar was a little relieved. There was some training from his proper time that seemed to remain with him despite the lax nature that was setting in from the seemingly peaceful LOTUS compound.
"You should probably seek out Shee first before you worry about your bike. I think she's the person we're supposed to talk to here if we get hurt, or at least that's what she told me. I wonder if she meant only me or everyone, as she got kinda weepy there at the end."
Einar thought back to his meeting of the small woman, but that didn't really matter. what mattered was getting Lai's face all cleaned up proper, fetching his bow back and re-stringing it, and then maybe taking a good long bath or something to help calm his nerves. He was feeling hot and bothered so maybe an icy bath would do him the best, but why icy? Why a bath for his nerves at all? Maybe it had something to do with Lai, and the fact that he was interacting with a person not on a war scale, or he wasn't quite sure how to handle someone so docile. Either way seemed acceptable to him, though Einar had an inkling there might be a third reason. Once that could be trouble.
Only one way to find out.
Slowly ushering Lai towards the door, Einar opened it and allowed the Russian man to step out into the hallway. He made sure that his hand was on the door and he could easily close it afterward, so without any further thought Einar gave Lai a smile, wished him a good day, and gently pressed his own lips to Lai's. It seemed like a small light went on, and Einar quickly backed up and shut the door, not caring if it was in Lai's face or not.
. . . I'm in trouble.

"Dinner it is then." Lai sounded chipper, and he was. "I have never cooked Norwegian food before, so I do not know if I can do better, but I can try."
As Einar tapped the gauze he had set, Lai's eyes shut like they always would if something was too close. Involuntary action, but he didn't mind. He enjoyed the touch. Why though? Those mixed feelings stirred in him and rose questions again. This was different than interacting with anyone else, let alone a man. Lai had not forced this man away when he cleaned his injuries...In fact, he enjoyed them much to his puzzlement. The Russian had a sense of knowing he would struggle and fight back if a different male tried to do that. What made Einar different? He had just re-met this man and yet just looking at him made him turn pink.
"I am sure I will be fine. You have decent," If somewhat tantali---odd, ODD... "Medical skills Einar." Another faint smile to the Norwegian before he was being ushered out the door. Lai assumed the man wanted to clean himself up, and he wasn't being hurled out, but still it was sudden.
As Lai stepped into the hallway he realized he had not asked Einar about what day for dinner would be good for him. He turned briskly, only taking a couple steps out into the hall anyway, and met Einar's smiling face at close proximity to his own. Not the catty, wily grin, but an honest smile. Lai was taken aback, he had not expected it, but was drawn in with curiosity as to why he was smiling like that.
Before Lai even had a chance to ask, Einar spoke and leaned in, kissing him softly. Lai froze, eyes wide, his breath catching, and his heart feeling like it stopped before hammering in his chest. Before any other reactions could occur, the blond's door was shut and Lai was left standing looking stunned at the hardwood paneling.
He kissed me.
