*He's nothing,* Skywise sent, as cutter filled the new elves in, *We're used to Strongbow. But the only wolfrider that was ever worth being scared of was Cutter's sire. Whoooweee he was one mean son of a prickleboar. He was our last chief. Bearclaw was gruff and rough, if it weren't for his mate, we'd probably all be dead. Bearclaw was a grand wicked Elf. After him, Blood hunt is just a cub.*

Skywise laughed a bit. *Just be careful, if he recognizes who ever you pick, there might be a little him glaring about soon. Then again, Dart's nothing like his father, so maybe theres hope.*

Cutter's nearly ate him alive, back when Leetah thought she could fight it,* He chuckled, but it was more grim, less joyful. *We almost lost him,* he sent, softer now, all mirth gone. *And it was nothing compared to what Dewshine went through. But those are the exceptions, of course. I've seen so many pairs for whom it passed and was gone, and for those for whom they chose to be life mates, not love mates. Couples that complete each other. Moonshade and Strongbow, Bearclaw and Joyleaf, Of course, Redlance and Nightfall, but they're a special case. Which is to be expected of those two. My parents, I was told, were very much in love from the moment the recognized each other. But, not for me, I suppose, to be a cub bringer. And as Dewshine once said, love is much more pleasant.* He nuzzled her suggestively. *Wouldn't you agree?*

She listened thoughtfully and nodded *Sounds complicated.. but like all things it has its good points and bad points.* She grinned *Though I prefer to pick my partners on my own.. without.. intervention...* 'Or cubs...' she added silently. From what he was saying they could only breed when this Recognition hits them... no wonder they were so shocked with twins and that she knew others. Though she admitted it was nice to have a small... whatever they were doing and be relaxed and not worry about adding to the 'One night Stand' babies brigade..

He chuckled. *Oh we can have all the love mates we want, we just can't get cubs without recognition. Because of their proximity to the palace, the go backs could, but their babies were not as healthy or strong as ours, and some died in childbirth. Of course, they don't believe in healers either. Go Backs shun magic, while there have been some exceptions, it will be interesting to watch New Wold and Snow racer when Suntop and Leetah get at it.*

She raised an eyebrow *That seems silly. If there's a way to heal then you should take advantage of it... magic or not.* She glanced at Leetah and Suntop *They're healers then?*

*Leetah is. Suntop.... we're still not sure how to categorize his magic. he's not a healer, not a plant shaper, or a rock shaper. he's not a glider. We've only ever met one other elf with magic like his, and that's his teacher, Savah. and she's called the mother of memory. No other identifier for her magic.*

Cutter howled and raced to the edge of the new holt.
"Wrong?" Skywise asked, grinning. "More like right!" He howled as well, then leapt from the tree.
