Jumping to cover the distance between Lavi and itself, the Bookman moved to engage in close melee. If it couldn't use it's abilities from far-away it would go for a violent struggle where Lavi wouldn't be able to take the upper hand. "You were never cut to be a Bookman, Lavi." it smirked, dangerously close now. "Once you cry for a person, yearn for a person, you can be Bookman no more. Even if those feelings, you deny... One must have no heart, sell their souls away, till their shells can contain nothing but information." it paused for a moment. "You were never cut to train the boy, Lavi." Revealing a dagger it was hiding in its clothing the Bookman would strike, one deadly strike... when it suddently felt sick. Raising its head up to look at the approaching creature it utterred a hiss of disgust. The mere existance of that being was a bane for its own existence. Withdrawing, uttering a cry of pain, it locked blood-red eyes with the other and growled, a low-toned growl, almost frightenned.

"A-Al-Allen.." its voice came out hoarse, as it moved backwards. Tails quivering after it. The reaction was pretty much subconscious, but... "Cursed be." it hissed, darting away from the two in the darkness. It would be a while till it was seen again, but it would be back. For now it had to get away from those two as fast as it was possible.

Allen landed next to Lavi, exhausted for a reason he didn't understand. "Who was she?" he asked, turning to Lavi, but then, suddently snapping out of it, as if he just remembered something really important he looked at Lavi and almost cried. "Are you hurt, Lavi?" he asked anxiously. "Did she hurt you?" he asked, trying to see for himself. He had almost panicked, truth be said. God... he was going in a panic for real! He could feel his heart beating fast. He would hate himself if anything happenned to Lavi and he couldn't stop it while being so close... It was something in the back of his head that screamed 'not again' even though only his subconcious could hear and understand it.

"I--i'm fine Allen." He replied slowly, still a bit perturbed with what happened. He quickly recovered, thinking of what the 'bookman' had said. "Rynl! He's in danger! We need to get him Allen!" What had she done to him? Where was he? Dead? Lying somewhere in a gutter!? Lavi certainly hoped not.

Allen nodded his head. "Rynl... why wasn't he at home?" he asked taking a dash ahead, his hand someohow having made its way to Lavi's now pulling him after him. He felt some remnants of the previous energy he had run still in his vains but even so he was tired. And still, he felt the need to help Lavi the best he could.

"Yeah! But he must have followed us!" Lavi dashed ahead, to the spot where he could 'feel' Rynl was, but when he got there, he was met with a gruesome sight. "N-no....you fool...you stupid fool!" He cried, rushing towards the disintegrating body of his fellow ghost. He had found Casey it seemed, just as he was finally ascending.

Allen froze on the spot. The smell of death was obvious, linering all around. Casey was... Casey was dead... Killed by what? That girl that fought with Lavi before? Who was she and what did she want there? Why did she want to tear their family appart? Because for Allen that's a bit of what the others were now, sort-of a substitute for a family. When you spend so much time together in the same place, you begin to develop close bonds with everybody else. That's just how things are... how things work...
But why...? Why Casey? The pale ghost was always quiet even though he was troublesome sometimes. He never did any harm to anyone... so why...? Why...? It seemed that death would just keep following him after all... in life... after life... Why did everyone keep on fighting... getting hurt...

Running up to Lavi, after him, he felt like crying. And still in front of the tragedy he remained deathly cold and emotionless. He didn't of course understand the full weight of the situation... but a death was still a death... and... and it wasn't fair. He couldn't even say anything in order to comfort Lavi...

Lavi had gotten over his sadness, and was now filled with a morbid curiosity. Why did the quiet, if perverted ad rude little cat look so much lie his student? The resemblance was quite eerie, and Lavi had a good answer why, but now had no proof. Guiding Allen towards the house, he tried his best to comfort him, he knew how attached the boy could get. "C'mon Allen, he's finally gone to rest, please be happy for him." But had he gone to his eternal rest? This thought would plague Lavi for some time.

There is one moment in time between being dead and born again. Such a moment exists between being and not being. It's a moment that creates such a powerful field of energy that if it took place in the real world instead of inside the void it would cause the world to crumble. Such was the nature of the storm in the Discarded Graveyard that had just passed, just a way to clean those things thrown away by everyone and everythng. In such a moment in time it was that He met the blonde Ghost. "You made a wish." he said, welcome. And grabbing his hand they both dissapeared from the void, leaving nothing behind.

Allen frowned. "Why did he have to die?" he asked, dropping his head, tears forming in his eyes. "It is unfair. Why? He never harmed anyone. Why are always the innocent that fall first? Why?" he couldn't just accept this. He couldn't... He just couldn't...

"Not sure moyashi." He said, opening the door to the house, nearly jumping back when he saw a familiar tall body infront of him, murmuring to another. "Yeah, he's gone, but not fully." The figure, a more human Verissimo, looked back at Lavi and Allen when he heard the door. "You two as well? Come on, I'm about to go set this lump back on the bed." He gestured to the unconscious Rynl in his arms, then walked down the hall without a word. Lavi looked back to Allen and nodded at him to follow.

Allen nodded his head and followed after Lavi, unsure of what to say, once again not reacting in the slightest at the nickname since it was no time to complain about jokes right now. Verissimo looked oddly human now. He wondered if all ghosts had the ability to revert into what they looked when alive under certain circumstances. He wanted to ask what exactly was hapenning but it didn't appear the right time to. So instead of messing everything up he just followed after the two, his head slightly hurting from everything that was pilling up inside of it.

Lavi waited outside of Rynl's room for Verissimo, who when he finally appeared looked normal again (cat normal). It was quiet for a few minutes before he finally spoke. "So...he's gone." It wasn't a question Lavi noticed, he replied anyway. " Yeah, and it wasn't pretty. And now we have problems, so many problems." He slid to the floor, unsure of what to do. It wasn't like him to be so unsure, to be so...so clueless, not even with the situation he had with Allen was he this clueless. Looking up at the two in front of him, he decided he needed sleep, and for a long period of time.

Allen sighed. He wasn't used into seeing Lavi like this. He was serious, so very serious and nervous. Allen could almost smell it in the tension that lingered in the air. Nothing he could say could make things easier however... He got up and sat himself next to Lavi. Forcing himself to smile he looked at him even though he instictivelly wanted to withdraw and sit further away.

"Lavi..." he spoke in a quiet tone of voice as if to comfort him. "No matter what happens, we'll see it through, right?" he timidly reached his right hand out to place it over Lavi's. "You were always the one to tell me that it was going to be okay... Now... it is my turn..." he mumbled. "No matter what happens, Lavi, we'll see it through... I... promise...?" he left his voice linger on slightly as if questioning himself. But all one could do was try their best after all. And Allen decided he wouldn't be weak anymore. No matter what his odd insticts told him he would overlook them and be strong. There were people that needed him to be.

"You can move if ya want moyashi." Lavi spoke, smiling sadly. "Your body language gives you away, and ya don't have to be so near to give comforting words." Allen wasn't obligated to, Lavi knew, and he appreciated the effort Allen was making. "Thanks for the words though, but I need to be by myself for a bit, that okay?" He needed to think, sit by Rynl's bedside, then run to the study, he had his work cut out for him.

Allen nodded. "I understand." he said standing up. "I think I'm just going to go... to bed now..." he mumbled. His head was spinning and he wondered if it was okay. It hurt pretty much damnit... He wondered if it was somehow connected to the odd fatigue that had taken him over. However, Lavi's words were a little hurtful. Allen felt as if Lavi was trying to push him away or something simillar. He sighed at the thought but went back to his room nontheless.

Flopping on the bed as he was, not changing out of his clothes, he was plunged in a deep dark sleep without dreams nor nightmares. Still the darkness and silence... they were terrifying... worse than nightmares. It felt as if... one didn't have a heart in the place of the heart but a clock... ticking...

ticking the seconds away...

Lavi said noting to Allen as he departed for bed merely stared at the door that led to Rynl's room. What was going to happen now? Was Rynl affected badly? What was Verissimo's goal, and most importantly, how had she come back?

In the room’s darkness something slipped from outside into the inside. In the shadowy space that ‘thing’ appeared to be as a slightly glowing semi-transparent matter. It curled and moved as if it was floating. A small tap against the window’s glass made whatever it was to turn and look that way. There was nothing else there apart the snowflakes that kept falling ever since that morning and the late autumn leaves that tended to gather –still- almost everywhere around. With s small sound the semi-transparent creature flew –or rather floated- further inside the room, to hover over Rynl’s bedside.
There was a wound. It could sense it. There was a wound, deep and bleeding, still freshly opened. It wasn’t a physical wound though. Those heal with time. The human had a hole in his chest. There was an empty void where his heart should have been. The creature felt immense sadness… it was its nature to feel this way about the humans it protected, if that person could still be called a ‘human’. It moved to sit on Rynl’s chest. It was as small as a small scarab, something less than an inch big, the human appeared to be a giant in front of it. Looking backwards towards the window where the other one was it made a small nod and laying down it quickly merged in with the human’s body, becoming one with him. Such was its nature.

It had to protect Rynl, but right now there was nothing it could do but dwell close to where his heart would have been and sleep in waiting. It could do nothing right now, so it would asorb the memories Rynl had and make them its own, it would seek far, ino his mind and his past, back to when Rynl had a heart and it would recover those emotions and feelings. And once it would have done this it would need a miracle and maybe a little bit of help to regenerate that human’s heart. But until then, Rynl would be a heartless creature. It was sad about that fact but what it could do… or attempt to do… was still better than do nothing at all. She knew it –because ‘it’ was a female and that was her mission now.

Allen slept through not one but two days. As long as he he slept, he was quiet, no nightmares to plague him that time. During the time of his dreamless slumber he couldn’t wake up, nor did he respond to anyone trying to wake him up, almost as if he fell in a coma. However, it was the morning of the third day ever snce that incident when he finally dreamt and this dream… this one… it was the worst so far.

He dreamt of Lavi trying to kill him while he was asleep. He dreamt of Rynl being crucified against a blood red sky. He dreamt of that ‘girl’ that was fighting Lavi the other day pulling the wings out of butterflies, then her turning into Lenalee who continued the macabre action with a smirk on her face. He dreamt of himself as a bird, being locked behind the bars of a diamond cage. He dreamt of a man whose name didn’t recall, running through a dark corridor –an endless corridor- towards the sun at the other side, his shadow growing long and longer, but when he reached the other side the sun had already set. He dreamt of Verissimo standing in front of a mirror, his reflection being someone else’s. He dreamt of Casey, holding his own body in his arms cradling it as if it were a baby.
And then he dreamt of himself closed inside a room of glass, blood splattered all around him, a scream echoing in his mind ’let me go’. His feet and hands had heavy chains attached to them, chains from which he couldn’t break free. Then a soft and warm hand reached out to him and set him free. The person to whom the hand belonged gave him an object that looked like a small razor and said something. Minutes went by in gonizing silence after that. Minutes filled only by tears and a growing feeling of desperation.
And then a scream.
One single blood-chilling scream.

Allen woke up panting, sweating, scared to death of the things that revealed themselves in his dream, this being the first time he remembered anything else other than the feeling the nightmare instilled in him...
