*snickers* Well, I know what your vote is for...

So who besides myself, Neuf, Res, and Divash are actually interested in coming? If that's all we get, that's still pretty good, though....

Well Dis Dommu is only about 3 hours away from where I am, if push comes to shove I'll kidnap him so I'm not the only guy at this event.

Now that we're focusing on Brookline allow me to give yet another example of why Brookline

http://www.chabadbrookline.com/ <--- Ultra-Orthodox
http://www.yibrookline.org/ <--- Modern Orthodox
http://www.congki.org/ <--- Conservative
http://ohabei.org/ <--- Reform (If nothing for the architecture)

All these Synagogues are within the area of Brookline known as Coolidge Corner. They're all within walking distance of each other. If we play our cards right, we can visit them all.

And if we're really lucky we can all get rooms at the Bed and Bagel.

You're forgetting the part where I'm underage and my family would come, including my dad, twin brother, and other brother. blaugh

Do you guys know each other IRL?

And what happened to camping? Hotels now? *sniff*

Well, theoretically we can have a winter meeting in a nice city where everything is in walking distance, it would make it easier for those who follow the rules of shabbat strictly and it gives an opportunity to others to do the same.

We all get Xmas off right?

And this is why we have given ourselves so much time to plan this event.

We need more input.

Depends on how global warming plays out.

Cold = Awesome
Hot = Evil

Cold you add more clothing to keep warm
Hot there's a limit on how much you can take off to cool off.

This coming from a man who has been known to go out in a T-Shirt and an open flannel shirt in 20 degree weather.

I have to say, I loved the camping idea, just not really for Shabbat for those who are observant. I know it can be done, but I myself do not have the expertise to be sure I wouldn't be doing something that's forbidden just by accident.

All the ideas, actually, sound great to me. The thing is, I know I won't be able to afford the travel in the next year or two. I've just had two relatives die, and two more are barely hanging onto life by a thread. All my spare money (what there is of it, now that I've lost my job -- six hours before the start of Yom Kippur, no less) is going towards funeral trips across the country. Don't count on me going any further from Chicago than I can go by Metra. sad

Just plan something that'll be fun for everyone who's sure they can go, and if I can manage it at all, I'll show up. If I can't, I'll be there in spirit.

Well here's the deal...

I've pitched brookline... and camping...

if people want to come for camping for a group shabbat/tabernacle in the wilderness kinda thing, well I have 300 bucks set aside just for this trip, and with the interest rates the way we are... by summer I should have 300 dollars and 25 cents, set aside for this trip. Hopefully Niagara falls, hopefully I will bring my full kitchen and we will just eat for 3 straight days.

If people want to show up randomly through out the next few months and explore Brookline, and the rest of the greater Boston area, send me an email and I'll see if I can be a tour guide.

I think that will work out for the best, random visits to Neuf with plans for a major together thing later.

So any new ideas or will this meet up will just play it like an episode of Skins?

Well, my vote is still to meet up in Chicago again. But depending on where I go to school, I might be able to swing up to the coast. However, that's pretty unlikely, as all of my choices but one are in the midwest.

Skins= ?
