Name: Shayne Knight AKA: The Spoon Current Age: 17 Appearance: Shayne stands six foot two inches tall, weighing in at just over two hundred and twenty pounds. He appears to be just a lanky fellow with slightly pale skin, green eyes, and nearly jet black hair.
Heavy muscle tone, Shayne is ripped beyond the six pack, he has eight, along with plenty of scars along his hands and forearms are side effects of the years of martial arts training.
Usually walking with slumped shoulders and head down, many people tend to not notice him, which is kind of to be expected.
Clothing wise, Shayne wears things that allow him to move freely; loose, non-saggy blue jeans, sweats, slightly large t-shirts, and such things along those lines. Costume: Shayne’s ‘costume’ varies each time he puts it on, rarely being exactly the same more than once. One day it can be samurai armor, the next a lab coat, bunny mask, and doggy pajama bottoms. It’s simply a matter of what he can find that hides his identity and allows him to move about. Primary Power: Shayne has exceptional hand-eye coordination, superhuman even. He can hit a mockingbird in flight so long as he has a chance to follow its movements for a couple of seconds. Of course his choice of weaponry is a bit odd, spoons. His preference to spoons has led him to name this ability 'Ambidextrous Spoon Slinging' Secondary Power(s): Mastery of several martial arts including; Isshinryu, extensive training in Krav Maga, several forms of Northern and Southern Chinese Martial arts(Shaolin), Ninjutsu, and of course his father's martial art, Supu-n Saiketsuryu.
Along with the usual side effects of peak physical condition and years of training; above average strength, speed, agility, endurance, and general physical attributes. Weakness: Lack of pudding for more than a day or two sends Shayne into withdrawal. Of course this includes bullets that get past any protection, being stabbed in the face, the usual. He may be a ninja, but he is still human- just a very awesome one. Personality; When walking into Shayne's room, one would have to watch out for any assortment of bladed weaponry lying on the ground hidden under piles of clothing. While messy, Shayne knows where everything is, creating a method to the madness, or at least that is what he claims.
Shayne is, by nature, a people person. Unfortunately he had no real friends, aside from his parents, until the age of thirteen and the lack of contact makes him more than a little reserved at first, yet he is almost always in a decent mood. Once someone gets to know him, however, they find someone who is rather easy going and genuinely cares about them, the world, and the people in it; then again, if he didn't there's no way he'd put his life on the line to protect others. Other than, of course, the fact that injustice, quite frankly, pisses him off.
Above all else Shayne is determined. Bullheaded would be an accurate description. This, of course, means he can be a bit blunt and unwavering on some topics. Biography: Shayne's parents had globe hopped for the entirety of their marriage, never staying in a single place for more than a couple of years. During this time Jeffrey took the opportunity to study under some of the most prestigious masters of martial arts around the world. While living in Japan Shayne's mother, Alice, became pregnant.
The two decided to stay in Japan while waiting until Shayne would be old enough to join them on their travels.
During this period Jeffrey opened a dojo in order to support the couple; while Alice, temporarily, became an assistant English teacher at the local high school.
~Skip a couple years~ Alice had decided it was time to settle down in a permanent home, no more globe hopping, she claimed it was unfair to their son. Jeffrey, however, thought it unfair to take away the opportunity to see the world. Drama and a few months, no lawyers, later, Shayne was globe hopping and training daily with his parents. Albeit the training was done just because it was cute to watch him attempt to perform moves while imitating others.
Shayne's mother remained with them but stood firm in her belief that this was no way to raise their child.
Shayne's early childhood was made up of home schooling, lots of training, and few real friends due to how often he moved about. This of course didn't mean he had no friends, but how many people are 'true' friends before a certain age. Having no siblings, he was just a little spoiled, but kept everything in line so as not to be a brat.
Shayne's relationship with his parents is a little odd; Jeffrey is Shayne's father, friend, and master. Alice plays less of a role as Shayne's friend and is more a strict teacher and mother, while trying to manage not to be too strict.
Up until the age of thirteen, Shayne moved around the world without a 'permanent' home, his mother and father taking jobs according to their abilities. Jeffrey would take up a spot in an existing Dojo or begin his own, temporary one for Self Defense. Shayne...Well Shayne was pretty reclusive when it came to people his own age, seeing no point in befriending anyone outside of the other students at his father's dojo.
Due to the globe hopping, however, he became quite the linguist, sort of. He can understand most of what people say, unfortunately unless it's English or some basic, literal words, Shayne is useless in two way translation.
As a surprise for Shayne, his parents decided to finally give him a permanent home; in Minneapolis.
It was here that Shayne began to step out into the world, into Middle School and then High School. Unfortunately, it was also here that Shayne's mother passed from a car accident involving lots of rain and another driver not seeing a stop sign.
The effect rippled through the family, Jeffrey spent more time in the dojo than ever before in an attempt to keep his mind busy. Shayne reacted in a similar, yet very different way. After hearing of a hostage situation within the city, Shayne donned his father's samurai armor, took up the most plentiful metal object he could find; spoons.
At first, being a 'superhero' was just a way to escape from the pain of his mother's death, but soon, it became part of him. Every lesson from his father and mother began to take form; help the helpless, put others before yourself, use your strengths to your advantage. Little did he know it was also, partially, planned. Sure, his father expected a more socially accepted version of crime fighting, like becoming a policeman or an armed member of the neighborhood watch.
Over the next two years the Spoon would become a semi-famous hero, at the very least he was famous in Minneapolis for his off the wall fashion sense and choice of weaponry.
During high school Shayne made one particular friend whom he would never forget; Evan Gardner. She was first the girl that Shayne formed a crush for, later they became close friends. Around Shayne's sixteenth birthday the two became a couple. So much was shared between the two, even the Spoon's identity. She was also the reason they left Minneapolis.
During what was assumed to be a run of the mill armed robbery Evan was shot and killed. Shayne snapped for a moment, nearly killing the assailant. Even after rushing her to the hospital before police had gotten onto the scene of the crime, it was too late.
Before long Shayne's dad decided it was time for one last move; Delmor. Goals/Motives: Shayne, quite frankly, wants to help as many people as he possibly can in order to honor the lessons taught to him by his father, mother, and Evan. Vices: Pudding; vanilla pudding to be exact. Shayne loves the stuff; he's practically addicted to it. Psychological withdrawals aren't uncommon if he goes more than a few days without it. Other: Shayne loves chick flicks. He blames Evan, but in truth it has always been like that. Silly hopeless romantic.

Task One
I already have one character, but I want to start up a second character and this time do something different I have never done before. Last RP I created a hero, (Doctor Clean), who started to use his powers for good, but when he got himself into a bind, he had to resort to siding with the bad guys. This time, in the present RP, I am using a man that wants to use his powers to not only help himself, but the better of mankind.
With this character, I want to be able to explore the depths of evil. What makes somebody evil? And a better question... do these people that are "evil" think of themselves as an "evil being?" With this character, I want him to kind of be alone in the world. That, in my opinion, is how every "evil" character is born. Either they are alone, or think that they are alone. My new character will be isolated from normal society in the fact that he has nobody to talk to. Second, I figure I need to give him a power that is above and beyond ordinary powers. Something that if used in a certain way, would make that character feel more superior than they truly really are. Almost like a God. This idea actually came when the Character Challenges Thread came open and the challenge: What sort of character would have no trouble flaunting his powers for the world to see?
My answer is a character... like the one I just described... a lonely, yet powerful being who feels he is superior to all around him... might be a good character for that challenge.

Task One: The IdeaAlright, so this is my first time creating an RP character that isn't me but I have created my own characters for stories... So, time to get started! >_< Note: Anything blue on the costumes is actually red. Tektek just doesn't have the color I wanted... I might edit them. And the Gimpi is in there cuz it's cute... that is all... Alma Thomsmith is based on me, mostly... Cuz I know me best? For the RP, she's 16, just so you know. She isn't goth but is what most people I know call "rebel". They "rebel" against what the fashion industry is doing cuz it's all a big money scam (and it is, in my opinion), so, she normally wears things found at shops like Hot Topic and the like or just comfortable stuff. Even if Alma is based on me, there will be plenty of differences, so don't worry. Mainly the whole powers thing and anything involving that, such as sneaking out. Other things that inspired her? Raven from Teen Titans was really only used in part of her powers, as far as I have planned, so that isn't a problem. Everything else was kinda thought up as I went. I think that's it for this step? O.o' Edit: sweatdrop I forgot to say that she moved with her mom and dad to Delmor, I think from south NY state or Northern PA... She has a bro and sis, both in college and has never even heard of Delmor before... so, likely doesn't enjoy the place at first.

Excellent start! Just a little tip: any time you can make fun of something, do it. We've had a few interesting names for "Hot Topic" (Lukewarm Subject), but feel free to go wherever you want with it. Also, Raven is awesome.

Yay! I like it a lot! Also, issues with tektek are exactly why we also require a text description of your character's appearance. There are unlimited appearances and limited options on tektek, so unless you can pixelate the tek yourself, you get stuck with subtle differences. Experience with writing is also worth it (not that you necessarily need it!)

@Atrox Saint: Right, so it's Lukewarm Subject now, eh? I laugh. @Nive: Ah, Tektek... It's a love-hate relationship. And thanks!
Task 2: A/S/L
Well.... I almost said all of this in the previous post... Anyway, Alma's about 16, a year after she got her powers... And a she in both ways... O.o' Obviously her first name is Alma and last is Thomsmith.
That was easy. (wow, Staples. O.o)

And now, back to this! >_<
Task 3: For better or for worse, for good or for evil?
Alma Thompsmith had a very unremarkable childhood; loving parents, 2 older siblings (brother by 5 years, sister by 4), pet cats and quite normal friends. Well, maybe not so normal. Alma was and is somewhat more intelligent than her years. Her parents had the policy of "Don't Know it, ask, now." This offered her a way of finding out about anything, even when her student peers would not learn for a few years. Also as such, her grades are normally "A's", even without Alma working hard. She also loves reading to the point of ignoring everyone around her just to get to the good parts of a book. Her main love was fantasy stories as a kid, but of course, this changes over time.
The end of Sixth grade was where Alma changed from carefree to rebel. It all started with a single joke here and a comment there, but it wasn't that. Almost all the friends Alma had were not to the point of maturity as her, therefore the resulting "She's a arrogant snob" attitude had begun to form in their minds. At the start of seventh grade, the bullying was to the point that Alma barely spoke unless asked a question first, scared of saying the wrong thing. She withdrew to books, but soon her "friends" said that she needed to stop reading. Her sanctuary was being invaded by books being taken from her hands, mid-sentence, and with a "You should stop reading, it's boring."
Alma had retreated so far that sometimes, she was marked absent because the teacher just had not seen or heard her as she was so quiet, even though she was sitting right in front of him. However, this was only at school. At home, the internet and the people she met there became her friends. Laughing and writing and reading as much as she wanted. Her books became mangas and ones the provided information. Eighth grade was much better as she was in completely different classes than her once friends. The wounds began to mend but scars don't just disappear, they fade. In short, Alma's middle school social years were hell. Academically, she got straight A's.
But now, she's healed. The scars haven't faded however. Alma dresses as a rebel. Black, long coats, strangely colored highlights, goth books, skulls, the lot. Deep inside, she's trying to prove she's special, not the nobody her once friends made her feel like. Even though she dresses like that, she does very well in school, rarely getting below an A-. The relationship between her parents and siblings is very good. It's not as if her parents try to be her "best friend" but they try to understand her. Her relationship with her siblings was normal, maybe less fighting but normal. Her brother and sister now are going to the same college (cuz they liked the same one, no other reason) and Alma is an "only child".
About the end of November of Freshman year (9th), one of Alma's four cats, Dazzy had to be put down. This, surprisingly, hit her hard, as she had not dealt with a death so close to her before. Shortly after Dazzy was buried at her aunt's and uncle's, her father got news that he had be transfered farther North for the government in a few months(Alma is not completely sure of his job). The Gov't. is providing housing for his family and him in Delmor (when he's off duty. Otherwise, he's at his apartment on the mainland, which is closer to work.) Then, the Thompsmiths went to her aunt's (Alma's mother's sister) and uncle's (aunt's husband AND 1st cousin of Alma's dad) for a congratulation party, as the new job was a promotion. Alma visited Dazzy and that is when the "Voice" came and gave her the "Legacy". (can be read as it is my app.)
And I'll tell more about her power and the beginnings of her role as a super.... hero/villian next post? O.o Jeez, I wrote a lot....

Ok, thanks!
Task 3.5: I HAVE THA POWAH!!!
Primary Power: Alma can lift/move objects with a strange black aura, and generally arm motions. She calls the black aura her "Shadows", even though it is not really a shadow. The Shadow wings on her back are used for flight, even though it is more of Alma using the Shadows on herself, therefore not requiring the wings at all. However, since Alma only discovered her powers about a year ago, she is not complete sure of all her abilities yet.
Secondary Power: Alma can make her wings "Solid Shadow" and use them in a way similar to spears, but they are more connected to her in this state, causing her pain if they are injured.
Weaknesses: While in her Shade form (aka, pitch black skin), very bright light will burn and blind her as well as weaken her powers. Hence, Alma only uses her Shade form at night. Also in Shade form, Alma can not speak, but for some reason can sing a strange chant that is in no way or even close to English. Alma believes that it is something tied into the "Legacy" being continued. (note: The chant does nothing, at least yet, it's just her only way of communicating in Shade form.)
I'll do more on Alma's begins of super.... hero/villain-ness tomorrow. I need to get off right now.

Alright I'll start at step three, cause I already have an idea and a name.
so.
Step Three:
Tehra LeVerryn was born into a regular middle class family, a family with problems like most. She was an only child. Her parents fought a lot- loudly and sometimes even violently. Tehra was too young and naive to know that these fights were not normal- they were all she had known to be a life. That didn't mean she liked it. But until she was 17, it couldn't be helped.
So Tehra dealt with it, sucked it up, make friends, went to school, did everything any other kid growing up would do. She learned that other families had dark places as well, so Tehra didn't worry too much about her bickering parents. She made good grades, participated in choir and took piano lessons. Tehra grew up. At age 17, she moved out into her own small apartment with her parents permission and financial support, though she did work a part time job to help. After she moved out, her parents stopped curbing their fighting for her sake and the fights grew worse, her mother would tell her. Then one day she got a call, her mother was in the hospital after her father had lost his temper and really injured her. They divorced quickly after.
The divorce and the realization that her family was not average weighed heavily on Tehra's mind. She became a bit of an insomniac and would roam the notioriously empty and somewhat dangerous streets of her dismal city. It was on one of these nights, in the early autumn that her life changed.
She had been wandering alone and caught sight of a battle she shouldn't have seen. It was between a fallen angel (a fact she later learned) and some other creature. Tehra watched a moment too long and evil one grabbed her, putting her in the way of the fallen's blade (surprisingly he was the good guy). He couldn't pull the attack, and Tehra was killed. She later woke up to findthat she had been resurrected by the fallen. His name was Damien, he felt so guilty about killing her that he made her into a fellow fallen angel to return her stolen life. He gave her the blade that killed her, warning her that it was powerful and that it would aid her, protect her, and sometimes hurt her. He told her that he hoped she used to her newfound skills for good, using the blade, the wings, the eternal youth, the enhanced abilities to protect those attacked as she herself was. Damien warned that if she used these powers to kill and destroy, he would kill her. And thus Tehra became a high school student and a powerful fallen angel mixed into one.
Her parents issues have not left her completely untouched however. She has little patience for silly fights and even less patience for senseless violence. Tehra quickly got used to her new race and became the Dark Guardian of her city. When creatures or killers outside police jurisdiction, or outside of police courage, tormenting the lost, the lonely, or just the unlucky- all of which Tehra had been, Tehra is there with her blade and defends them. She gets hurt, she's not perfect. But Tehra defends to keep others from tragedy, because they may not have Damien to resurrect them, But they have Tehra to protect them.
Unfortunately, she had to leave her hometown- she hadn't been careful enough, people were starting to notice the winged woman in the sky. Tehra couldn't be discovered. If she was known to be the guardian, her friends would be victimized by angry criminals, or her home ruined, or 'fans' or curious bystanders would interrupt her work. She couldn't risk their lives. Tehra heard of a town by the name of Delmor, one with a fair amount of crime, and room for it to grow. So she went there, hoping she'd be better at keeping her alter ego a secret, though her normal teen form was very much social.
