"I... I don't know why I'm crying. I'm happy, very happy. Is it possible to be so happy that you cry...?" She shook her head quickly. "No! You haven't done anything wrong. Maybe... Maybe I'm just overwhelmed with the happiness..." She smiled and gave him a quick kiss. She felt a bit shy. "Yes... We have a lot to tell them too..."

"I guess that could happen." He kissed her back, feeling his passion rise for her. "D'you think they'll like me?" he asked, in mock nervousness, acting like a naive boy meeting his girlfriend's parents for the first time, "After all, they barely know me right?"

"I'm sure they will. How could they not? You already didn't try to eat them or kick them. They're impressed with that already..." She giggled a littlle and looked down at her paws bashfully. "After they hear how I feel about you... They will welcome you into our... "little family" for sure."

Meren smiled victoriously, "Ha! I have finally made you laugh!" He kissed her again, "Maybe we could make the family...bigger?"

"Yes..." Dementia agreed softly. She cocked her head to the side. "Bigger....?" She was silent for another moment before pressing on with her question. "In matters of pumpkins or in the act of mateship...?" She blinked. "You really get to the point of the matter of things it seems..."

Meren couldn't help but laugh, "Oh Dementia!" he exclaimed, "Pups! Pups of our own! Little warm waddling lumps! They'll look like you and they'll look like me!"

Her cheeks began to heat up again. A family of their own. This was no dream and it was really happening, but it still seemed like it was too wonderful to be real. To have a family meant having others around her to keep her company that weren't just pumpkins. No longer would she live in silence. "Yes. That sounds wonderful... I would very much like that." She stared at the ground for a moment. There was one more thing she was curious about, but she would let herself be surprised...

Meren nodded, "It does sound wonderful doesn't it?" He was soaring. He had found the perfect mate and he loved her, and she loved him. He started to think about what their future would look like...
"...Hey. What do you think our pups would actually look like?"

Many months passed by, but Meren's love for Dementia never dimmed. The pumpkin patch was now his home and he often woke up each morning, perplexed as to how he had met such a wonderful dragonfly. He was not only Dementia's mate, but now he was a father to three pups of their own - Peter and Amarillo, his sons, and Meriden, his only daughter.
Today, he was lazing on one of the largest pumpkins, keeping an eye out for intruding dragonfly that might come and try to eat their pumpkins. He wasn't too concerned with the pups, because he trusted that they wouldn't wander off the patch. And even if they did, he would automatically see them anyways with their bright colors.

Amarillo was out, sniffing one of the smaller, orange pumpkins. He crouched down and whined. He didn't get quite what his mother was talking about when she said pumpkins were people too. He wanted to understand so badly. Out of all the pups his mother and father had, he looked least like a pumpkin. Looking so much like his father that he admired so much was awesome and all, but he wanted some vines too. Amarillo looked around for his mother so he could ask her something relating to vines. She was the nearest one to him last time he checked. However, he didn't see her right away. He yipped out and tried to scramble onto one of the pumpkins so he could get a better look around so he could spot her. "Mama? Papa?"
Dementia was watching her pups from one of the bigger pumpkins she usually sat upon. She heard Amarillo's calls. The yellow pup had wandered off farther from her without realizing it. "Over here, Amarillo..." She called out to him. She smiled. Amarillo got confused sometimes about where he was because there were so many pumpkins, but he always called out when he needed help, so there was no need for worrying.

Peter was stalking after a bug that was on one of the things that looked like his mom. Stopping when the bug stopped he got ready to attack but let out a scream as the bug took off at him. He turned and went screaming about something trying to eat him and ran into a pumpkin only to fall over not harming the big orange ball at all.

Meren looked around rapidly, "Peter?!" he yelled jumping off the pumpkin and rushing to his son. "Are you alright?" Meren asked, worried as he picked him up and placed him on top of the pumpkin. "What happened son? Are you hurt? You know your mother will be very angry with me if you got hurt." he said as he checked Peter for any sign of injury.
Meriden tumbled through the vines, humming to herself. She smiled as she found her favorite place on the patch. It was a small area, big enough for her to lie down and play with the leaves. Meriden plopped down, and started to paw at a small pumpkin, the size of her paw.

Dementia had snatched up Amarillo by the scruff of his neck before hurrying over to see what Peter was yelling about. She was always cautious when it came to others trying to eat who were close to her. She had to deal with that when protecting the pumpkins all the time. "What happened? He isn't hurt is he...?" She asked after putting Amarillo down. She had arrived at the scene and always saw her mate had taken care of it... Or at least was trying to. She didn't quite understand what was going on yet.
Amarillo looked around, trying to figure out which part of the patch his mother had brought him. He felt a little better knowing most of his family was around, but.... "Where is sista?"

Peter sat for a moment looking around for the bug that had tried to eat him. "Therewasthisbigbugandandanditwastryingtoeatme!!!!" He didn't think he was talking so fast but the bug had scared him when it took off.

Meren tilted his head, amused, "A big bug that tried to eat you?" he patted Peter and turned to Dementia, "He's fine there aren't any scratches on him. Just scared that's all." he smiled down at Amarillo. "I don't know where you sister is. Maybe she's playing a game with us. How about we try to find Meri?"
Meriden continued to play with the pumpkin, giggling to herself. "What a pretty pretty pumpkin! It's so cute!" she squealed.
