Inwardly, Damian hated Chase's voice. Outwardly, though, he seemed flattered, even giving a nod to him standing in his little theatre-like setting.
He led her out with his hand holding hers up for the crowd to see in their delicate fashion. A space was cleared, the couple standing in the middle, looking as if they really were together. Oh, how Damian wished they were.

"Just like we were dancing in the living room," he whispered as he took her hand and then her waist. Her dress even felt lovely and soft under his slightly sweaty hand. He would apologize for that nervousness later; it was so uncharacteristic in this setting that it was shameful.
"Do not worry about them all. They are jealous." And he took one careful step to the side, turning her, hoping desperately that her feet remembered those few steps he had taught her. "Jealous of my beautiful partner... jealous of you, Raquel."

Raquel did remember. She just stayed focused on Damian's lovely face, a sad heartache taking over her. "Who?" She asked, closing her eyes for a moment. "No one's here...We're in the living room...happy...and everything's ok for once." She said softly, her eyes trying hard to water against her will. She opened them once more to look at him, fighting the urge to sink into him as they danced. Fighting the even bigger urge to kiss him in front of everyone.

He enjoyed that answer much more than any fantasy he could concoct while still keeping them there on the floor. Other couples were joining them by then, creating a moving arrangement of people so elegant and beautiful.

"We are home," he repeated with soft eyes. "We never fought... and we're about to order out again. The food will be here in time, while we sit on the couch, just talking about our day..."
The way he spoke of it was like a fantastical dream they could never quite reach, and how sad it was that it truly seemed that way.

Raquel smiled at him, one tear daring to slide down her cheek as they floated along like nothing was wrong. "And Trinity is snuggled up between us.....you'd say something ridiculously sweet, and I'd blush then-" She trailed off, a dreamy look in her eyes, posed for a kiss in her mind.

"Then..." He kissed her. Soft and fleeting, so he could still see where he was taking them, but he did kiss her. As he pulled away, his lips brushed her tear to erase it. This was how it was supposed to be, not this terrible waiting for the end of the night so they could say good bye.
Why did it have to be like that, anyhow?

"Then we forget about the food and just fall asleep, leaving some disgruntled worker on our doorstep..."
The song would be ending soon. Damia was familiar with it, and always thought it was much too short for such a dance with a beautiful woman.

Raquel was surprised she didn't trip. His kiss was so soft and pure, she was left, wide eyed and blushing. She swallowed nervously and was about to say something when she realized the music stopped. She felt like the dream was slowly slipping away and she wanted to grasp at it.
But it was completely lost when she felt a hand on her back. She turned, slightly startled to see Chase. "I hate to interrupt, but, may I cut in?" He asked as the music started up again, this time no violin. Raquel looked to Damian, not sure of what to do.

"If Raquel wishes it," he said, slacking his hold upon her. "There... are matters I need to attend to, but I shall be back shortly. Raquel," he said, looking at her, "If I may have one more dance before the night is through..."
Before she could answer the question, he slowly began leaving her side. This is what it would be like, he thought with a sickening twist in his chest and stomach. Slowly backing away, only to be consumed by a crowd of people, each left to fend for their own being.
And that was how they separated in the Ball Room for a time being, so Damian could leave and investigate for just a few rushed minutes.

Heart racing near out of his chest, Damian made his way towards a door. It was not marked, only ornate, but it was for employees. Thankfully the system recognized his face upon approach and did not lock, letting him behind the scenes of the Ball Room.

Guests of the hotel rooms could also be allowed in this area. If anyone saw him, though, he could just dismiss it with some lie. Anyone would believe him. They all pitied him anyhow, so of course they would allow him a few broken rules here and there...

He was practically shaking by the time he rounded three corners of the red carpeted hallways. There, at the end of the hallway marked at one end by a stained glass window, was his office. His name had been removed from the door, but it would always be his.

Damian Centurion took his hand to the handle, and to his great surprise, turned it. No security cameras were inside the last time he checked. He'd never needed them because of the seedy things that went on inside his own office...

Once inside, he immediately took to the desk. Drawers were opened, revealing nothing on the left side. There was nothing in the right, either, not even a pen, no scrap of paper that might reveal what had happened or who owned the place... Why was there nothing in the desk?
Silver eyes looked up and around the room. His personal belongings were gone, but that was no surprise. Probably sold... but there was a safe behind the one painting, which was the last place he could think of looking before going to what was his father's office.

The moment his back was turned, the lock clicked. Damian's heart stopped as his gaze shifted from the somewhat moved painting to the door where the most unlikely person stood, looking almost as beautiful as Raquel. Dressed in a black evening gown, Terra stood calmly in front of the closed door.

"What are you doing in my office, Damian Centurion?" she asked.

Raquel watched him leave, touching her lips absently, feeling insecure all of a sudden. But she was forced to snap out of it when Chase brought her into a close hold, as he lead in her in an intimate waltz. She didn't say anything, hardly looking at him at all.
"...It's very odd....you look like a normal little couple, quite happy for a pair of disheveled ex lovers..." He said quietly as he looked at her with an even smile. Raquel shot him a look. How did he know?
"Come here...." He stopped dancing, taking Raquel's hand gently in his. He led her away form the crowd. She was confused but didn't know what else to do so she followed him.

"Y-you're the one who inherited the Ball Room?"
Damian remembered her all too well. Every bone in his body ached at the remembrance of his wounds and near death at the hands of this woman. She could kill him silently in this place, and not a soul would know until his body was found. He could die.

"Oh, don't be so afraid..." she said in a breathy voice. Every step she took towards him swung her hips from side to side. Terra was predator and trap, appealing and disgusting all at once. Damian noticed how her eyes had been tamed with makeup and contacts, making them appear a golden brown instead of their yellow, while her hair had bee dyed a darker color to erase some of the odd raspberry tones. She was a different person in the ball room, but only to those she had never met.
"I can't hurt you, you know."

Inch by inch, he made his way along the wall towards the door. Damian was no fool.
"Why not?" he ventured, making Terra's insane smile creep up on her lips.

"Because! I was told not to. Even though it would be... so, so easy..." Her voice and words took on an even more strained, breathy tone, as if this was something to turn her on. The ideas of his blood and screams ricocheted through her skull until her eyes seemed almost dim.
"So easy, to say you assaulted me in a room with no cameras... isolated, so far from the others. But I can't."
Her lips pouted like a child's. Terra was so unstable.

"How did this happen?" If Damian could quickly gain his information from her, then he could leave, and go back to Raquel. He was already poised for a dash to the door, but Terra in blinding speed placed herself in front of it. He was trapped.

"Things happened, I was told to do this... this awful job." Once again her eyes became almost dead as she thought. In Terra's eyes, she was gazing into recorded information, with her Super lenses. Damian only saw a disturbing woman. "This awful job, though it is so easy to run this place. They give me money for their nights, they do things, illegal things, and it all... just... goes according to their plan. I ask for more, they give me more, and it all goes..."

"This is my Ball Room," she said suddenly, her eyes nearly lighting up with the fierce tone. "My Ball Room! I want to kill you all, each and every ruby and sapphire and diamond and silk and shoe and hand, all moving in circles that won't stop!"

Dancing, Damian thought. She must not like their dancing. But he had no time before her hand was somehow at his throat, cutting off air. The yellow behind the contacts was showing through so much that even in his deoxygenated state, Damian thought they glowed.

"I can't kill you, I can't hurt you, but this is my Ball Room because my lady wished it and another told me I can't... can't harm..." As soon as that glow came, though, it went, and Terra slumped backwards as if a switch had been turned off. Everything seemed normal, even her stance. This must be the Terra that isn't dominant.

Her breathing became heavy and labored, so much so that she had to go to the seat behind the desk and sit down. the entire meeting had been so odd that he wouldn't have been surprised if she outright died with him there, but he stayed anyhow.
"Leave, Damian Centurion," she gasped. "Get out. This is my office. My room. Get your answers somewhere else."

He had never run out of a room so quickly before in his life.

Chase led Raquel down the same array of doors and hallways as Damian had taken, though he chose a seemingly random doorgiving her a gentle push in.Raquel was slightly scared, but mostly confused. "What's going on ch-" She was cut off. Chse grabbed her roughly kissing her sloppily and in a strangely uncharicatarist undignified way. Raquel tried to pull back but he only moved down her neck heatedly. "Chase...!" She breathed, gasping for air and lookingfor an out. But he wasn't going to give it to her.

"Don't fight it love...you know we both missed it. How bout it bibelot? Just like hold times..." He began going at her quite ravenously, bringing her to tears. Msotly tears of anger, but also some old tears of fear and dread.

"NO CHASE!" She practically screamed, pushing him as hard as she could away form him. He was sent back a few feet, in shock.

"W-what did you say?" He asked, stuttering from shock and anger. "Did you just say no to me?" Raquel backed up, shaking terribly. Though she couldn't answer right away. It was a curse. She had been assaulted so many times, but each time was just as horrific and terrifying for her. She felt paralyzed. Chase made another advance, this time, taking a swing at her, sending her to the ground, crumpled into a ball amongst the lovely green fabric of her gown. He grabbed her by her hair, then readjusted his grip on her throat as she cried. "NO ONE says no to Chase Ch***!!" (too into post to look up. O.o) picking her up and throwing her roughly on to the desk in the office they occupied.

"Stop...please- I don't- I dont want to..." She cried, tears running down her face. Her voice was so small, so soft and begging for him to jsut stop.

"You've never said that before love..." He purred, a malicious smile on his face as he managed to tear her lovely dress a bit. At least enough on the arms and neck to rip it off of her. "You used to love me...what happened?" He asked, stroking her face as she writhed to get free. He had her pinned down to where she couldn't move.

"D-...Dami-...!" She croaked out in a soft, pathetic voice, too terrified to even call out his name.

"Oh thats right...you got spoiled!" He came down closely to gracefully study her face. "I always told you that you were suited for the fine life...but I was wrong. You're nothing but a filthy whore and thats all you'll ever be! You can dress a pig up, put lipstick on it, teach it to dance but it could never be a real lady..." he smirked as he held himself up above her now exposed body. She was wearing a strapless dark greenish black bra and a pair of matching lacy underwear to match. He eyed her with a lustful dirty gleam in his eye.
"Most ladies were put on this earth to be lavished and looked at...others were out here to simply be used for my enjoyment." He snarled before having at her again, Raquel finally being able to cry out in terror as she was assaulted just as she was when she was just a small child, then again when she was thrown out onto the streets, and again and again her whole life through, feeling the same emotions, same thoughts going through her mind. thoughts of suicide and death seemed sweet and she wished that she would die at that moment, just so she wouldn't have to go through this again. "D-....Damian...!" She croaked out before he covered her mouth hand went about his business with her body again.

Just as Damian left the doorframe, he heard a scream. It was only once, before another sound, more muffled that time, but in his heart he knew... He knew it was someone he'd met before. The sickening part was that with his distance, he did not know it was Raquel.
Terra was at his side. She'd recovered seemingly from her episode at the desk, the same feral eyes glinting.

"This is my Ball--"
"Yes, your bloody ball room!" he barked at her. "Give me a gun, I'm going to find them... And let's not waste time saying you don't have one, because I know you of all people would just for looks."

His sarcastic tone bristled her nerves, but she hiked up the skirt of her dress to reveal a holster on her thigh. Yes, he thought. Terra handed it to him grudgingly.
"I can't hurt people," she mumbled. "Stupid rules..."

But Damian was gone, long gone before she could finish the thought. Why she had complied with him, she'd no idea. Terra just watched him go, and shrugging, went back to her office to plan her appearance.

Heart racing with adrenaline again, Damian went down the halls with ears pricked for noises. He heard another cry, closer that time. His gun was ready, making him look like the policeman he really should have been.
Another cry. This time, however, it sent Damian running frantically down the hall, because then, he knew exactly who it was.

Another, a mad rush at a door, locked. Wrong one. Again, another door, but this time, it flew open to reveal the terrible scene playing out, with his Raquel looking at him with terror and a death wish he hoped he would never in his life see again.

The gun suddenly was no use to him. So blinded by rage, Damian found the strength to attack with the ferocity Terra held in her normal movements.
"You sick son of a b***h!" he screamed, tackling Chase to the side and off of Raquel. there was hardly any time for him to react before blow after blow was delivered to the handsome man's torso, but most importantly, his face.

Damian nearly mutilated him beyond repair. Features were blood, his nose broken, and all the while Damian screamed and swore as if on fire with his bloodlust.

Finally, as if the damage was not enough, he dragged him to the other side of the room just for the satisfaction of slamming his body against the wall. Only then, when Chase was so battered did he pull the gun, placing it to the man's temple.
"If you dare look at her again," he said, his voice shaking so badly, words almost didn't come. "If you dare touch her let alone even speak her name, you will die. I swear it." The barrel of the pistol was jabbed against his temple once.
"I took advantage of women, too, don't you think I have forgotten... but never did I commit such a crime against the flesh. I am not a man of threats, Chase, I am a man of promises... and I swear no creature in all of Veratia will weep for you."

What was keeping him from just killing the man in front of him, he wasn't so sure. His rage told him to do it, to pull the trigger, but the woman behind him told him that man was full of sins, and adding more would not solve anything.

Raquel had meanwhile found herself in such a blind terrifying fury, the sunk off the desk and against the way, crying ad trying o hide away as the scene played out in front of her. She had secretly prayed that if by some miracle, Damian could hear her cry for help-...and here he was. She was shaking terribly and tears made her so blind she couldn't make out what was going on. she was simply beside herself in fear as she laid crumpled on the floor. She finally had enough sense about her to stutter. "D-d...da-m...i...." But she found even her voice was too shaken and terrified to work.

He heard her small voice stuttering out his name. Every syllable lowered the gun until the barrel rested upon the floor, and only then did he back away from the ruined Chase.
"If you move, I will shoot," he said, before the dash to Raquel was made.

Damian crashed to his knees for her. "My baby..." As he beheld her, his face was so stricken with terror that anyone would have thought he was the culprit. But he was only guilty one one crime, and that was assaulting Chase.
"My baby," he repeated, sliding off his jacket to wrap her up in. He had no idea how badly she was hurt, so just went with the general gentleness he always used with his Raquel.
Damian slowly pulled her close to him like a fallen bird picked up off the pavement. Broken wings and no song. She was held to him with such an enveloping grasp that she almost seemed to disappear.
"My darling..."

This was his fault. He had strayed, he had trusted the Ball Room to keep her safe. Idiot! The Ball Room was a den of wolves that he had promised himself he would keep her from! And he had thrown her right to it, right to the wolf in his sheep's clothing who played a violin and mocked the songbirds with his music.
Veratia may not have wept for the battered Chase, but Damian wept for Raquel. His darling, and he had abandoned her long enough for this to happen.
PostPosted: Sun May 17, 2009 9:23 pm

At first she had reacted in instinct, cringing at his touch, pulling away and begging for him not to hurt her. But when she heard his voice, caressing her ears over and over, she melted, crying softly as he held her closely. "D-Damian.." She grasped at him as best as she could, muffled from his hold. Again hr mind was buzzing form terror and adrenaline pumped excitement, but yet she was completely blank, just crying into him, reaching out for the security that was never there for her.
Damian was her savior. He was the father figure she had never had. The gently love that caressed her and wanted the best for her. The lover that even after being told to leave, was still at arms reach to save her and love her again. He was her Damian.

"I need to get you out," he said through tears. "The police will no doubt come, I will be charged with assault and him for rape... but I will sort this out. I will get you anything you need, anything. My darling..."

Damian rocked her back and forth as she cried. Broken soul that she was and she was still alive. It was a miracle.
Silver eyes kept looking daggers into Chase as he sat propped up against the wall. He looked terrible, and somehow Damian could not believe he had done such a thing. Then again, he wasn't sure how it had taken him so long to just strike one blow.
