The next morning, Jake and Lola woke up to the sound of the alarm clock. Putting the purple orb back in his pocket, Jake spoke, "Well there is a place here called nugget bridge. I suppose I will go there to train." Lola nodded, "Yeah, I'm going to the route just before Cerulean to prepare for the contest. Let's meet up for dinner?" Jake nodded and left for nugget bridge.

At nugget bridge, Jake was greeted by a group of four trainers. "Welcome to nugget bridge," the first man said. The second man spoke, "You defeat every trainer, you get a special prize." It was the third man's turn to speak, "If you even make it to me, I'll crush you with all my might." The fourth man just laughed. The first man spoke again, "And it all starts with me! Munchlax, go!" Jake spoke, "A Munchlax, huh? Oddish, go!" Oddish came from her pokeball.

"Munchlax, use drain punch!" Munchlax ran towards Oddish, his fist glowing. "Oddish, just take the attack so we can use ingrain!" Oddish planted her roots into the ground, then got hit by the drain punch attack. Oddish rolled backwards and got back on her feet. "Oddish, use acid!" Oddish bent over and spat a puddle of acid at the Munchlax. "Munchlax, wipe your eyes and then use tackle!" Munchlax wiped the acid out of his eyes and ran towards Oddish. "Oddish, sleep powder!" Oddish bent over and sprayed a white powder in the Munchlax's face, causing him to fall asleep. "Now Oddish, use absorb!" Oddish then began to absorb all of Munchlax's health. After a few seconds of absorb, Oddish began to glow. "Huh?" The other trainer said. Jake laughed, "Nice job Oddish, you're evolving!" Oddish finished evolving, revealing a Gloom. Jake held up his pokedex, "Gloom, the honey it drools from its mouth smells so atrocious, it can curl noses more than a mile away." The pokedex then spoke again, "Gloom forgot absorb for mega drain." "Alright then Gloom, let's finish this off with mega drain!" A flexible beam of green light emitted from Gloom's head, heading straight for Munchlax, pushing him straight into the air, sucking his energy until he was fainted. The green light was then sucked back into Gloom, giving her all of the health she had stolen and Munchlax fell to the ground, fainted.

The second man stepped up, "Its my turn!"

"Machop, go!" The trainer shouted. "Beedrill, go!" Bedrill came out of his pokeball. "Beedrill, use twinneedle!" Peedrill charged at Machop, striking him with a twinneedle attack. "Machop, brick break!" Machop jumped in the air and slammed his fist at Beedrill, pushing him to the ground. "Now Machot, use seismic toss!" Machop landed, ran towards Beedrill, then grabbed him by the leg. Machop jumped in the air, still holding Beedrill, and slammed Beedrill on the nearest rock. "Beedrill, quick, get out of it and hit him with a fury attack!" Bedrill quickly recovered, hitting Machop with a fury attack. "Machop, brick break!" Machop hit Beedrill again with brick break. "Beedrill, get up quickly. We don't want to take another seismic toss. Now use Poison Sting!" Beedrill shot many poison barbs at Machop, leaving him with a poisoned status. "Now Beedrill, twinneedle!" The combination of Beedrill's twinneedle and Machop's poison left him fainted. The trainer spoke up, "You've beaten me! But the next trainer won't be as easy."

The third trainer stepped up, "Parasect, go!" "Candra, go!" Candra came from her pokeball. "Candra, use air cutter!" Candra whipped her wing at high speed, sending a sharp blade of air at Parasect. "Parasect, use stun spore!" "Candra, use air cutter to push it back at him!" The stun spore was shot towards the Zubat. But Candra sent an air cutter, pushing the stun spore back at Parasect, leaving him paralyzed. "Now use supersonic!" Candra sent a series of soundwaves at Parasect, causing him to become both confused and paralyzed. "Parasect, slash!" Parasect quickly hit himself with the slash attack. "Now Candra, finish this off with wing attack!" Candra dove down and hit Parasect with her wings, causing the pokemon to faint.

The battle againts the fourth trainer wasn't easy. Jake just barely managed to take out his Ponyta with Jin the Poliwag. But when he did, the fourth trainer tossed a nugget at Jake and unbuttoned his Jacket, revealing a black shirt with a large red "R". The rocket grunt spoke, "Nice job kid. We could use someone as good as you on Team Rocket. So what do ya say, wanna join?" Jake laughed at his face, "As if I would want to join you! You guys are nothing but trouble. We're out of here." Jake headed to the pokecenter for a quick rest, and made his decision to challenge Misty before dinner arrived. He had heard from the townsfolk that Misty wasn't as challenging as Brock and they all said that Jake would be able to handle her. The team Jake had decided to use against Misty was Candra, Gloom, and Beedrill.

Jake grinned at the thought of battling Robert. No doubt it would be hard, but it was a battle Jake had been looking forward to for a long time. "Sure, I would love to battle you," Jake said as he recieved his pokemon back from Nurse Joy, "You name the rules and I'm down with it. I take it you've already recieved the Cascade Badge?"

Jake nodded, "Alright Jin, come on out!" Jin was released from his pokeball, revealing a small Poliwag. "And your choice?" Jake asked Robert.

Jake thought, "A Vulpix, huh. This gives me a type advantage...but knowing Robert...he's got something up his sleeve." Jake then looked at Jin, "Alright Jin, let's try to stay on our toes. Mud shot!" Jin opened her mouth and shot a jet of mud in Farrah's direction.

"Energy ball?! But that's a grass type!" In Jake's state of shock, he allowed Jin to get hit by the energy ball. Knocking her a few feet back. "Sorry Jin, get back up and use double slap!" Jin got up and jumped towards Farrah. "Farrah is fast. Hopefully Jin can still manage to strike a few hits."

Poliwag was hit with the energy ball. Causing her to fall to the ground fainted. Jake began to think, "Well, the thing that got Jin was Vulpix's speed advantage over her. So I think my best bet would be to use my fastest pokemon." "Candra, go!" Jake threw a pokeball out in the air, which then opened up revealing a Zubat. "Candra, use Air Cutter at the ground to get rid of this smoke!" Candra did as her trainer instructed.

"Quick Candra, Vulpix is right behind you. Dodge to your left!" Zubat dodged to the left, just skimming the ember attack and taking little damage. "Now use supersonic!" Zubat sent a series of soundwaves towards Vulpix.
