Amythest was almost reaching the boundaries of the shallow water. She had enough exploring for one day. With a thud into her head, she fell stunned for a second. She slowly floated down a little bit, and in her mind, a few seconds felt like an hour. She was feeling all dazed and confused. When she finally came to, she saw the other fish. "Did I run into him???" she wondered to herself. This was rather embarrassing. How did she not notice someone right in front of her. She blushed a little.

"Um.. I'm so sorry. I guess I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. Here, let me get out of your way."

Amythest started to blink quite a lot. *Is he looking at me???* she wondered. *But, why would he look at me so much?* She started to wring her tail. "Oh. The name is Amythest. You don't have to call me Miss. Well, I'm not really sure because I don't really have any family or friends. So, noone really calls me anything." When she mentions this, there is a quiet sadness that lurks deep in her eyes. She saw out of the corner of her eyes other couples. She started to wish in her heart that someone would think about her. That there might be even just one person who she mattered to.

"Hmm..." Amythest nibbled on her lower lip. She had never really thought back to that. The time she heard her name was a long time ago. It was from a parent she didn't know too long. It was a fuzzy memory of her mother telling her name. Her mom said how her scales were so bright and shiny. They reminded her of lovely purple gems called an amethyst. Her mother liked to be different and spelled her name a little oddly. She could no longer see her mother's face however. It was in fact that same day she witnessed her mother swallowed by a larger fish that ate the smaller ones. Her mother had told her to swim as fast as she could away. She did, and she moved away from the deeper waters after that. Deep waters were no place for young fish. To be even more to the point, Amy had been lonely for a very long time. This was the most attention anyone had ever paid to her, and she wasn't very sure of how to handle herself. She would blink and look at him.

"I am not sure. I think it means purple gem or something like that. Do you know what this pool is? I know it's the shallow waters, but it just seems more merkier than other shallow water. I noticed all those fish together out there. Kind of makes someone feel lonely."

In her eyes cried out a lonely yet earnest clownfish. She had a hunger for the companionship of another fish. A life alone would not keep her anymore. She was finally an adult. She had to find her own way in life now.

Amythest listened sincerely to him. This was the most company she'd had as long as she could remember. It was wonderful. Part of her wished he would just continue to stay there and talk with her, look at her, think about her. Well, she wasn't sure if he was even thinking about her when he was looking at her so much; but she did wonder. It was a natural assumption to make as usually if someone looks at you long and hard enough; they must be thinking something of you. She floated slowly down. There was a bed of ocean plants. She was able to rest her underbelly on it while still flicker her tailfin every now and then.

"Do you think we should leave here? I mean... Are we not allowed to be here if we aren't a couple? I mean.. what makes fish be couples anyhow?"

All this thoughts and talk of couples started to kickstart her mind going, and not to mention set off her biological clock while it was at it. Couples... breeding... families, children.. all these ideas were just blossoming in her mind.

"Really??? You really like talking to me??" She was so happy. It was unbridled and completely obvious. "Cuz...." She paused for a moment taking in some air to offset her racing heartbeat with some oxygen. "I'm really enjoying talking with you too. This is like so great..." She moved just a little closer to him, in a subtle way of course. Somethign about him was stellar, and it just pulled at her. She couldn't fight this feeling whatever it was.

Amythest flickered her tail like crazy, and she floated up maybe only a few inches and spun around real fast. "Cool!!!" Her eyes sparkled. In these parts of the water, the sun came through. It reflected in teh water, and it reflected in her eyes. She swam up closer to him again, but this time, she got even a little more closer. She flicked out her side fin in such a way that it almost nearly brushed his side fin. She just let go of all her inhibitions and decided to ride with the moment. So far, it was the most incredible one of her life. She was not about to lose any part of it. "Well, somethings to know about me is that I like the warmer parts of the water. I like feeling the sun's rays warm the water. I like the big rocks. Until now i've been living in a tiny hole of a cave in one."

Amythest was not prepared for so direct a question. She was almost embarrassed and afraid to admit she had never had a boyfriend so far. Would he think she was just a total loser? She wanted to cover up and tell him some grand story about how popular and sexy she was. Still, there would be no truth in it whatsoever. She decided rather to be brave and honest. She gulped down a huge lump of fear.

"Um. I guess I haven't." Her face flushed full of embarrassment. She was trying to be brave, but she couldn't hide how awkward she felt at such a question. "I haven't had any boyfriends really. To be quite honest, I've spent most of my life alone. I don't have any friends or any family. I lived in a small cave... that's most of what I remember. I guess even though I seem rather outgoing and direct right now. Often, I'm very shy and afraid. I don't even know why I'm talking so much to you. Something about you just makes me feel ok and safe I suppose. That has to be it."

She started to feel engulfed with nervousness and her tail fin would flitch every few seconds as she moved her eyes afraid that hers would see laughter or mockery in his. It was such a pleasant visit. She waited. She still nursed a hope that he wouldn't mock her.

She chewed her bottom lip a little. "Well, I don't know. I mean, if given the ordinary happenstance of actually seeing people on a regular basis. I could tell if i'm really shy or not. However, I just never really get to see or talk to anyone. I think I would like to socialize more. But, many of the dwellers in these parts are evolved mer-people types. I just don't feel like I fit in with that. " She calmed down a little and floated next to him again. "Oh... don't worry bout me too much. I'm really ok, so what do we do now?"
