"Great! But--" Again, she was cut off by a tremble of glee as he kissed her neck, the shifter tilting her head towards her shoulder in a ticklish gesture. Agh, he wasn't making his easy~! As much as she wanted to let him molest her, she also didn't want to not be prepared when the day came for her to go into labour. Snaking up one of her arms, she pressed the heel of her hand against his forehead, pushing his head away from her neck, and stopping him where she could see him.
"Down boy...! I'm not done yet~!" She informed him with a giggle. "I couldn't find any open classes, so I got a 'Do it yourself at home' package instead! Since you agreed to it, I think we shoul go over it."

Nio's head was once more straightened; this time by force; and he let only the force of her hand keep his head from lolling back down, thereby retaining a comical posture. He cocked a brow when he was informed that the conversation was in fact not over yet, and when she finished up so nonchalantly it took him a minute to see where this was going. His head straightened up on it's own, and one eye closed while the other narrowed and stared her down.
"Oh, I see." He gave her the faintest of smirks, before reaching up and taking the hand pressed against his forehead, and intertwining his fingers with hers. "Well," He continued dramatically, "Since you've already bought it, how can I say no?" Of course, it was obvious this was her plan all along, but she knew better than to think he would have ever said no to her either way. It was probably just more fun for her this way.
"So. What do we do?"

When Nio's head straightened on its own, she slowly peeled her hand off his forehead. Once she was sure no further distractions would be coming her way, she struggled onto her feet and wandered to the coat closet, where she kept that kit for the time being. Pulling it out, she grinned at him before wandering back over to him, sitting down and putting most of the kit's contents beside her, focusing solely on the book for now.
---
Over the coarse of the next couple hours, Enoh would guide Nio from the book, occasionally pausing to ride out a small wave of pain. Naturally she passed those off and continued on; they were sporatic, after all. They went throw the entire book more than once, And more than once did the pregnant woman have to leave the room from laughing so hard...and she always came back with tears in her eyes. Lets just say that the pregnant strap on and Nio was the funniest thing in existance.
Eventually though, While Nio was helping her practice her breathing...she truely started to feel what she was pretending to feel during this practice. When this harder contraction hit her, her entire body tensed for a moment, breathing as evenly and deeply as she could. When it was over, she stared at Nio for a moment, then over at the clock in the room. These pains were becoming increasingly painful, and increasingly regular. She looked back at Nio, who no doubt could at least get some idea of the increasingly regular pains she was receiving...and gave him a happy, but pleading look.
"Nio...I think...I think we need to get to the hospital..." She flinched for a moment...she could feel another one coming on. "Like...Now..."

Nio had a very good sense of humor. Despite how funny he looked, and how ridiculous he felt, he carried the fake baby stomach around to get a feel for what his wife had been dealing with. He admitted that it was uncomfortable, but hoped that if there was a real baby in his stomach, at least it would be for a good cause. He was currently plopped down beside his wife, imitating her breathing patterns while holding on to the stomach in front of him with both hands. He was silently glad nobody was around to see this, because he was sure he looked like a fool.
He glanced at his wife, and noted the look of concentration on her face. It was concentration, wasn't it? She almost looked like she was in pain. They did say birth hurts, so it only made sense. He furrowed his brow and forced a look of concentration as well.
It was hard for him to understand how this part helped, but he did it anyway. Far be it from him to be labeled a bad husband just because he wouldn- ...
Hospital? Now? Was this part of the training? Or was something wrong?
He stopped breathing and rolled awkwardly to his knees, resting closer beside her. "What's wrong honey? Did this breathing stuff hurt too much?" He pressed his hand against Enoh's stomach, knitting his brows in worry.

Enoh had told him more than once that he didn't have to wear that fake belly the entire time; but she eventually gave up when she realized it was futile. Still...it felt nice to have someone as thoughtful as Nio for a husband; she was counting her lucky stars now.
She hadn't noticed that he was trying to mimick her when a contration hit her...but if she had, she probably would have giggled through the pain. He was way too cute! However, she hadn't noticed, and was therefore lacking in the giggles department by this point. Crimson eyes followed him as he shifted close beside her.
"No...No it wasn't the breathing...I think..." She paused for a moment, the excitement covering her voice. "...I think this is the real thing...!" As painful as the regular contractions were, she was still overjoyed that she was finally going to hold the little kitling she'd been carrying within her all these months...

"Oh."
The real thing.
"..Oh."
As in, they were going to have a baby.
"Oh.."
Now.
"Oh. Oh. Oh God!" It took his brain several restarts before he actually heard her correctly, but suddenly it hit him like a baseball bat, and he tried to get up but was caught unexpectedly unbalanced by the weight he held, and instead toppled over and rolled onto his back. His head hit the couch behind him with a thud.
"Owww.." He muttered in a wince, before reality hit him square in the face again. It was time. He let out a few more groans of surprise before finally slinking out of the fake belly and stumbling to his feet. He paced in a sprint back and forth in front of her, as if he couldn't decide which way to go first.
"Okay. Okay. No problem. Just gotta get the bag. Okay. And the kids. No the kids stay here. Gotta tell someone-" Before he'd even finished his sentence he began a sprint up the stairs, but stopped halfway and sprinted all the way back down again upon second thought. He dropped to his knees in front of his wife, and looked at her for a moment, before leaning in and kissing her forehead.
"Don't have a baby without me." He whispered, and brushed his hand against her belly. He took in a deep breath, and kissed her belly too before hopping back up and running up the stairs. "SAAMIRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA~" He screamed, searching frantically for the oldest child home at the moment, while grabbing the already packed bag Enoh had prepared for this moment.
Could it really be time? Was it really so soon? His heart was racing a mile a minute from excitement. Their child. Their own flesh and blood baby was about to be born. He couldn't believe it.

Normally she would have said something as he fell; but as it were, the same moment he tried to get up was the same moment she had another contraction. Enoh could only trust he'd be alright to get back up...for both of their sakes. When he came bounding back down the stairs, she was recovering from the previous contraction, and gave him a smile for his two kisses; one to her, one to their coming baby. "I won't..." She assured him softly; after all, she still had a bit of time between contractions; chances were this baby wasn't going to come out right away! But in the end, it just depended on how long Nio took to get her to the hospital...
Meanwhile, Samira was on the phone to Liam. She'd paused for a moment when she heard the pacing, and the running up and down the stairs...but as her adopted father screamed for her, she startled so badly she nearly dropped the phone. "Aiie~! ...Uh Liam? I'll call you back. You too! Bye." She quickly hung up and rushed out of her room. "Whats wrong?!" She asked her frantic caretaker.
Naturally, The rest of the house had heard Nio's scream for the currently eldest child in the house. They all seemed to be cautiously peeking out of their doors, but really, only one of them moved out of their room right away; and that was Vidya. The kid, still in her pajamas, wandered over to Samira's side and joined her in staring worriedly at her father. "Yeah...Is Momma okay?" Somehow, her Mother came to mind when she heard her father cry out.

"No. I mean yes. Yes she's okay. She's just going into labor. Sam, Viddy, you two are in charge. Watch over the kids while I take mommy to the hospital. I'll call you from there, okay? The number of the hospital is on the fridge if anything happens." He said all of this in a breathless rush, while he checked the bag in his arms to make sure everything was in there that she might need. Of course, he had no idea what she might need, so looking through it was a futile, useless effort. Were those bunny slippers? NO TIME FOR THIS! He looked back up at both the girls, just as Donny pushed himself between the two of them and looked up at his father sleepily.
"Donny was taking a NAP." He grumbled brattily, and Nio patted his head hurriedly. "Then go back to it Donny. Okay girls, call if anything goes wrong." He almost said he'd do the same, but realized what a bad omen that might mean, and shut his mouth. He kissed all three of their foreheads and practically vaulted back down the stairs. Donny toddled after, his eyes now wide and awake as he watched his father rush off. They were going off! Something important was happening! .. maybe they were gonna buy him Christmas presents! That seemed important enough.
"SPIDER-MAN!" He screamed out randomly, and to his one-track mind it made perfect sense. A moment later, the door slammed closed, and his father was gone.
The screech of a car was heard outside, followed by the peel of tires as he drove away. Even Donny had to pause at this turn of events, looking up at Vidya with confusion in his face during the silence.
No more than a handful of seconds later the car drove back up into the driveway, and Nio burst into the house, returning to his wife.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm an idiot, here- take my arm." He bent down on one knee to help his wife up, trying to ignore the fact that he had just attempted to drive off to the hospital to have a baby without the mother.

At the mention of no, both girl's expressions turned horrified and worried; and it was scary how similar they looked in that moment. Luckily, when Nio corrected himself, they relaxed; though the worry still remained. Vidya had already asked Enoh about having a baby and going into labour; Samira was old enough to just...know; and they both understood that it hurt to have a baby, Mieke being the case in point.
"Oh dear! Don't worry; you can count on us!" Samira eagerly, but worriedly, replied to their caretaker, Vidya nodding in agreement beside the Tahnee dog. Both girls looked down at Donny when the walking goldmine appeared, and Vidya tapped her finger against Donny's shoulder, as if telling him now wasn't the time to be a brat. Even Samira had to repress a giggle though, once Adonis screamed out of the blue.
At the peel of the tires, Donny wasn't the only one to look confused; infact, Vidya and Samira were taking double-takes; wasn't He forget---oh, there he is. The girls couldn't break themselves from their dumbfounded expressions as Nio came charging back into their house to collect the very person he was spazzing about.
Enoh, on the other hand, apparently found this hilarious, though frustrating. When he'd left without her, she grumbled and attempted to struggle to her feet; something that was much easier said than done. Already she didn't want to move, and already her body ached as it prepared itself to cross the line into motherhood; For real this time. How DARE he leave without her?! How could he forget her, his own wife, who was beginning to feel such pain! Oh, he was going to pay...
When Nio returned to her however, Enoh started to giggle, though it was strained from her attempt to move on her own. "Way to go, Goon." Was all she could manage, though the grin on her lips spoke more than that. Thankful for his help, she leaned heavilly on him as she slowly made her way to the door, and out to the obviously waiting car.
Once they were gone, Samira and Vidya looked at eachother, then down at the door they could barely see from the staircase. Vidya was the first one to speak. "Daddy's doomed..." She commented with a giggle to her voice; Samira just nodded her agreement.

Nio let out a quiet but nervously high pitched giggle and helped her out of the house, lowering her gently into the passengers seat of the car. He held out the seat belt for her, cooing gently and asking her if she was comfortable several times before finally closing the door and vaulting over the front of the car to get to the drivers seat. He slid in and put on his seat belt, before closing the door, turning on the car, and resting his hands on the steering wheel.
Then he looked up at the glass window, and thought things through. He reached into his pocket to make sure he had his license, pulling it out and giving it a quick look.
"Whew. Good thing I got this last week.."
He gave his wife a nervous smile and slid it back in his pants, unaware of just how doom-inducing that statement actually sounded. He checked every mirror before backing out of the driveway with a screech, and turning the wheel straight to drive on the road. To the hospital they go~!

'No' was Enoh's answer everytime she was asked if she were comfortable. Part of her mind understood why he was asking, but the other, currently dominate part of her frustrated mind didn't understand why he wasn't getting it, and why he was taking so god damn long to get her to the hospital! Eventually she lied to him just to get him to move; she appreciated his worry, and she was thankful he was even there for her; but she also knew that the quicker they moved, the quicker she could be on her way to delivering their first child!
A groan left her lips when he commented on when he got his drivers license. She knew it'd only been a week ago, but in her state, that was something she really, really didn't want to hear. "'Careful." She half-teased, half-warned. Though right now, she was probably leading towards the latter.
Enoh counted her lucky stars when they finally DID reach the hospital, though she had to remind Nio to NOT go park normally, because she wouldn't be able to WALK to the hospital. Emergency was the way to go! A couple nurses came to Enoh's aid, helping her into a wheelchair and doing checkups while Nio no doubt had to fill out a few small forms; stupid hospitals and their need to know everything! Once that was over, the party headed upstairs to one of the empty Maternity rooms, now changing the shifter into the proper hospital attire before helping her struggle onto the bed in between contractions.
Once she was down, they set a chair at the side of the bed for Nio, if he so wished to use it, and set to checking Enoh's progress thus far. Enoh, meanwhile, could feel her body changing the slightest bit, and slowly. It almost felt like she was involuntarily shapeshifting her hips, making them slightly wider to help the shifter herself through birthing. This shift, however easier it would be to the baby itself, was not easy for her right now; it irritated her muscles, it ached her bones, it leeched off of her strength; it almost felt like a contraction, only this pain lasted longer.
After another contraction, she looked around her for her husband, seeking his hand with her own. As jittery as he'd been this entire time, she found it strangely comforting, and she wanted that comfort right now.
The one thing she knew for sure, was that after this, she'd only adopt.
(( I'm not sure what happens at this; Kamiki could post how the birth went, or Nio could post; I'm not too sure what to do after this. @_@ ))

Everything had gone so fast, that Nio was eternally grateful for the seat they had provided. He slumped into it, feeling dizzy and lightheaded. He couldn't believe how well he had driven! He had hardly any experience driving, but when it came to getting Enoh to the hospital, some kind of instinctual importance had kicked in. He knew he would never be able to drive that good again, but still he felt proud for it. He slipped Enoh's hand between his when she reached for him, and held it tight. She looked like she was in so much pain, he almost felt like he would cry. Why did something so wonderful have to hurt so much?
His eyes flittered from the doctors that passed, to the nurses, to Enoh again. Were they doing all they could for her? How would he know? He pressed his forehead against her shoulder and kissed it softly, silently hoping that it would be quick.
Still, even under all his worry he couldn't help but be excited. Their baby was being born; she was about to bear his child. He felt jitters in his stomach just thinking about it.
He tilted his head up to the side, cheek resting against her shoulder so that he could look up at her with a faint, nervous smile. He wished he could bear the pain for her..
"I'm here baby, I'm here."

In all honesty, Enoh couldn't believe how well he'd driven either; she half expected him to forget the rules of the road much like he'd forgotten to take her with him the first time he left the house. Thank god for this turn of events, was all she could think on that subject at least. Smiling softly, she glanced over at him, then over at their hands.
"Th-thanks, Nio..."
The shifter gripped her husbands hand, giving it a rather 'this is all your fault' squeeze when another contraction washed over her. Enoh hadn't the faintest idea of how much time had gone by between when Nio got her to the hospital to when the doctors announced that she was at ten centimetres, and could finally begin to push; it might have only been a half hour or so, but to the shifter, it felt like an eternity. However, that announcement would mean more work for her, plus more frequent and painful contractions...lucky her.
Her nurses were very helpful; they told her to push, they told her to stop pushing, they told her to breathe, they told her to relax, they told her to push harder...and they just basically all around frustrated the pained woman to no end. Would they make up their mind?! Push, Don't Push, Breathe...honestly people! Still, the one thought she could cling to was that this was Nio's child she was about to bring into the world; his baby, the one she'd carried for him for months now. It made a future Mommy proud, no matter how much pain this one was in.
Still, eternity crept past her once more. Her hair, the one thing she'd lost control of during her pregnancy, put on a dazzling show of colours once she'd started to push; the pure shifter in her started to come out, and her hair seemed to conform to streaks of perhaps hundreds of different colours; on one occasion, her eyes opened and were no longer crimson; but they were orange, and her pupils were slit horizontally. One blink however, and the strange, foreign eyes were back to her usual crimson. Like all birthing women, she was sweating, and tears had formed in her eyes from the excess pain; and like all birthing women, she steadily kept at it, waiting for the--
"It crowned! C'mon sweetheart, push a little harder now, you're almost there...!" Oh, how wonderful that would be to he--wait. Wait! The nurse really did say that! Hope of finally seeing her son or daughter renewed, Enoh pushed harder, more determined to get this little kitling out of her. Then, happily; "And there's the little ones head! All we need to see now is the shoulders darling, and then the rest is a piece of cake...!" The shifter was anxious now; a few more minutes and not only would she be free of the pain, but she'd also be able to see Nio hold their baby; hell, even she could hold her baby! Her excitement and need for relief pushed her forward. Everything else happened so quickly after that; Enoh heard the cheer of the nurse as the final push freed the babe's shoulder, the rest of the body sliding out rather easy after that. Lying back against the pillows, she basked in the bliss of having finally been over that obsticle...and right now, nothing could make her happier. Nothing, that is, accept--
"Aaaand...Its a Boy! Congradulations! C'mon Daddy, why don't you come cut the cord, and meet your son?"
Okay, now that made her happy. Enoh was, most definately, the luckiest woman in the world right now; sure she was lying on a bed on her back with strangers poking around between her legs, and she'd just gone through the single most painful experience a mother could go through...but she wouldn't change it for the world. She was a real Mother now. She'd birthed her husband a son...Enoh was the luckiest and happiest woman in the world.

Nio suddenly felt the bones of his hand crack. Well, perhaps that was an exaggeration; it just felt like a strong enough grip to tear his hand from his body. He flinched, letting out a teeny whimper before biting his lip to keep from saying anything further. It was nothing compared to the pain she must be going through, he consoled himself. Nothing. He had nothing to complain about. Besides, it was his left hand; he didn't need it as much anyway.
Enoh's hair was a blessed distraction from the temptation to look over the barrier they had set up and see exactly what was going on. We all know Nio wouldn't have made it through seeing something like that, but luckily the colors caught his attention and he watched his wife change in awe. It was eerily beautiful, the way the colors swooped in and melted away. It was not, however, enough distraction to keep him from getting agitated at how many affectionate little nicknames the doctor kept calling his wife.
Sweetheart. Darling. On and on the man went, feeling some archaic need to add a term at the end of every sentence. Nio's pet peeve concerning the proper way to treat a lady was being rubbed the wrong way. His eyes now rested on the man, murderous. One more 'darling' and he was sure he would knock the doctor's block off.
...It's a boy! Congratulations!...
He was startled out of his thoughts by the sudden proclamation. His eyes widened as an ear-splitting cry filled the room, announcing his sons arrival. His son! He had a son! It was a boy! He had a son and it was a boy and it was his son! Nio let out a series of disbelieving laughs, before he got up from his chair and a little mass of blood and goo was handed to him. He looked up at the doctor, before giving another look at th- OH WAIT, that was his son! .. He stared at it for a second, his head tilted to the side. Were babies.. supposed to look like that? It was all purple and blotchy, even his skin.. and that was the least surprising part about him.
Still, that was his son. Suddenly the world shifted a turn in the right direction, and he sucked in a sharp breathe. He was handed a scissor, and the doctor held up the cord that still connected son to mother.
".. What?"
The doctor gestured for him to cut the cord, and Nio's face looked horrified. "Why would you want me to DO that?!" He almost screamed, and the nurse behind him laughed. Of course, it became obvious that babies didn't live their lives connected to their mother, so eventually he was coerced into cutting it, though he couldn't help but close his eyes as he made the cut. Once it went through, his eyes snapped open and he looked from wife to son quickly to see if he had just hurt either of them. The baby had stopped crying, and Enoh didn't look as though she was about to kill him, so..
A son. "Enoh.. Enoh it's a boy.. Enoh we have a baby boy.." He whispered, stunned. He watched them take the baby away to clean it up, and sunk back into his chair beside her, awestruck. His eyes fell to rest on her, and a moment later he bent in and kissed her. His eyes closed, and he whispered I love you against her lips.

Enoh wouldn't have looked down on him if he had admitted to her hurting his hand; in reality, she forgot what it was she held, and she also didn't realize how hard she was actually squeezing the thing she held.
As ear-splitting as their son's cry was, it was like music to her ears. Never before had she heard such a...such a beautiful sound. That shriek was coming from their baby...and how could any mother feel anything but pride and utter joy from hearing those cries?
Even she giggled as Nio seemed horrified by cutting the cord. Wasn't that mentioned in the book they'd gone through before she went into labour? Apparently he'd forgotten. When it was cut, she felt nothing; her body was numb from the birthing process, and her hips were slowly shifting back to their normal size, and the colours of her hair were fading into that electric purple she'd gotten so used to.
She almost regretted letting them take the baby away without her seeing it first; but that regret was washed away when Nio sunk into the chair at her side. It was enough to distract her from the sadness of not seeing her baby right away. The new mother only happily returned his kiss, whispering her own 'I love you too' against his lips as well.
The afterbirth was passed without a fuss, and the doctor briefly mentioned how lucky she was to not need stitches after that birthing. When the nurses returned with their son, the little boy was placed into Enoh's arms this time, to make up for taking him away earlier. Staring down at the boy in her arms, the shifter found herself speechless. This was Nio's son in her arms. It was her son. Their child, their baby boy, their son, their boy... A thousand emotions seemed to instantly lodge themselves in her throat, and happy tears stained her crimson eyes.
"H-He's...He's so perfect...He looks like you.." She managed to whisper, toying with the large, damp ears the little kitling had. Her fingers traced over the purple markings on his face, ones that faintly resembled her own, but of a different colour. She saw one of the nurses come towards them with a clipboard, and getting an idea of what was going to be asked of them, she turned to face Nio, holding their son close to her.
"Well...Daddy...Why don't you name your son?" Enoh couldn't help the disbelieving fondness that crept into her voice when she called him 'Daddy' in the presence of their first biological child. There were a thousand names that came to mind for her, but really...She kind of wanted Nio to choose one he liked.
Whether or not she agreed would be a different story.
