Syd blinked, confused at finding himself not on the ground and in the arms of Calum. He looked around, Dreville was nowhere insight, but instead, the squirrel was dizzily walking around. Syd blinked, trying to register what had happened and why he wasn't on the ground. Soon he realized that Calum had caught him, and he stood up, blushing and looking around nervously. "Uh...thanks..." He murmered nervously, looking down at the squirrel and picking it up. "Hmm..."

"No problem," mumbled Calum. He shoved his hands into his pocket, only to pull them out again a few seconds later. Like Syd he felt nervous, only Calum didn't know why he felt nervous. He stared at the squirrel, his mind working to figure out what happened. When his mind settled on a conclusion, he bit the inside of his cheek to hold in a laugh as his eyes shined with amusement. "Were you just attacked by a squirrel?"

Syd stared at the squirrel before looking up at Calum, staring into his eyes. He looked for a moment, unable to look away for a few moments. He'd looked him in the eyes at various points during the night, but, now, he'd finally noticed it. He looked amazed for a few moments, finding himself in a bit of a trance, before snapping out of it and looking at the squirrel again. He grinned and nodded, laughing heartily, "Yeah, mate, ahah!" He set the squirrel down, laughing, "I told you they were evil!"

Calum's brain seemed to go on pause during that few moments when Syd's gaze was locked with his. Foreign thoughts danced around in his head, more things that he would have to think over later. When the spell was broken, a deep laugh bubbled out his mouth before he could stop. "Maybe they're just out to get you?"
He stared at the small fury animal, and was relieved to find that he didn't feel the urge to bite off its head. A welcome reprieve from his usual urges when around small animals.

Syd sniggered, "Yeah, I guess so." He grinned at the squirrel, who was looking back and fourth from Syd to Calum. "I guess he's cuter than a normal squirrel." He pet the squirrel on the head, and it squeaked, purring in a squirrel like way and rubbing it's face on Syd's fingers. It then jumped up and flyed over to Calum, landing on his shoulder and seeking attention from him as well. Syd laughed.

Calum hesitantly reached up to scratch the top of the squirrel's head. Surprised that it didn't run from him like other animals do. "It seems rather friendly."

Syd smiled, "Yeah..."
The squirrel squeaked and nuzzled Calum happily before shooting over to Syd and slamming him in the face again, then climbing up on top of his head. Syd groaned, "Ow..." He said, sighing and rubbing his face before looking abck to Calum and patting the squirrel on his head before taking it off and setting it on the ground. "Anyways...lets keep going."

Another deep laugh when the squirrel smacked Syd in the face again, though he tried to hide it behind a cough. He cast one last look at the squirrel when Syd set it on the ground before continuing forward when Syd was ready.

Syd laughed along with Calum. He sighed, beginning to walk along with Calum.
The squirrel, left a few feet back, grew infuriated and jumped into the trees, getting to the top of one, and dive bombing Syd, landing on his shoulder and staring at him.
Syd looked at the squirrel, "Huh...?" He stared, sighing and moving to pick it up, before it jumped on his face, latching on and refusing to let go. Soon, it began chattering loudly like it was laughing, making fun of him.
Syd stopped, frowning and waiting until the squirrel moved.

Calum stared at the squirrel then looked back at where Syd had set it down, then back again. "Either this squirrel really likes you, or it wants something."
He held up a hand and made strange animal like cooing sounds in the back of his throat, trying to coax the squirrel to let go of Syd's face.

Syd groaned, not really able to talk with a squirrel straddling his face.
The squirrel flicked it's head around, staring at Calum and looking at his hand. It crawled down from Syd's face and sat on his shoulder, nuzzling him for a minute, before jumping to Calum's hand, rolling around happily.
"Uh...maybe he just wants to come with us...? Or is it a she...?"

Calum smiles and runs a finger along the squirrel's tail, enjoying the feeling of the soft fur. "Maybe..."
Looks back at Syd. "Uhhh, dibsies on not checking?"

The squirell stared up at Calum and twitched its tail, making pleased squirrel noises.
Syd blinked, biting his lip and sighing. "Uh...okay..." He lifted the squirrel up, looking under it and putting it back down in Calum's hand. He blinked, "It's a girl." He said, calmly, scratching her head and smiling as she nuzzled him. "We should name her! And one of us should keep her, since she'll probaly follow us anyways."

"Like a pet?" Calum's ears perked up, an almost childish light entering his eyes as secret yearnings he thought long buried rose up. He'd always wanted a pet while growing up, but was never allowed to have one. Only the head of the orphanage was allowed to have a pet at the orphanage, and animals weren't allowed in the library. Where he stayed for the last four years of his life before he had to leave...
He stroked the top of the squirrel's head. "What should we name her?"

Syd grinned, "Yeah, like a pet. And she'll stay with you every other week and with me every other week...this island is small so it wouldn't be hard to deliver a squirrel." He looked down at the squirrel, who was looking up at Syd and Calum affectionatly, "Hmm..." He thought for a moment, "How about...Squ."
