Eidel swam farther out, toward the deeper part of the spring. Once she noticed Lovell was following, she decided to have some fun. She swam in a circle, wrapping around him. She put a paw around his neck and pulled herself closer. She chuckled a little, and then realized she needed to breathe. She burst to the surface, gasping for air.

Lovell chuckled and watched her swim around him. He instinctively wrapped his paws around her as soon as she was close enough to him, and then held her up while she gasped for air. He held on to her and watched her curiously until she caught her breath.

Eidel coughed once and then was able to breathe easily. She looked up into Lovell's eyes, now feeling his closeness. She tried to hide any signs of nervousness that threatened to creep up. She put one of her paws gently on his cheek and leaned her head to rest her forehead against his. "Heh...thanks," she breathed.

Lovell smiled and whispered back, "No problem. I'm glad you're okay." He held her even tighter now with one paw and stroked her cheek with the other.
"Why don't you stay close to me from now on, huh?"

Eidel nodded, losing herself control and better judgment completely as she stared into his eyes. She moved her head to rest it on his shoulder. "I don't think I will mind that at all," she whispered.

He let out a low chuckle and breathed into her ear, "And neither will I..."
He then started paddling with his back feet back to the shallower area. He couldn't tread water and hold her the whole time, he needed to get to where he could stand. He paddled gently, not wanting to disturb her or cause her to have any reason to move away from him.

Eidel tilted her head to look out around her as she felt them moving. She then realized that all her weight was on Lovell. "Oh, am I too heavy?" she laughed, but didn't attempt to move away from him. She didn't really need an answer to her question. She slid a paw to the muscles on his right forearm. "You're quite strong," she commented.

"No no, not at all!" he replied, almost too quickly.
He got to a place where he could stand, and he stopped. He smiled as she laid her paw on his muscle and then chuckled, "Thank you...it comes in handy sometimes..."

"Like now?" She stroked down his arm once more. "You often have to save the damsel in distress?" Under the water, she flipped her tail around him to brush against his back.

He shivered as her tail slid against his back and he grinned at her.
"Yes, like now..." he breathed. "But I have to say, you're the first damsel in distress that I've ever had to save..."

"Oh really? That seems almost hard to believe." She put her paws around his neck lightly. "You're so very good at it."

He smiled and rubbed her back lightly with his paw. "I'm not so sure about that...maybe I just got lucky," he said winking.

Eidel bit her bottom lip and she wrapped her bottom legs around his waist. "You must be very lucky," she purred.

Lovell shivered again, and breathed out somewhat heavily. He leaned close to her and stared into her eyes. "I guess today is just my lucky day..." he chuckled and then added, "and yours..." he leaned his face close to hers, so close that he could almost taste her breath.

Eidel took a deep breath, taking in his scent. She moved her face so her mouth was a centimeter from his. "I think you're right," she breathed. She gently touched her lips to his, closing the distance between them.
