"Linla," she says, flushing slightly. "We thought you might sleep all day." Her tray is filled with meats and pies for lunch. She quickly gathers all the breakfast dishes and lays out the fresh food.

Despite having finished most of the breakfast spread, Bel starts in on the meat and pies.
"This is really good, Linla, thanks!" He munches enthusiastically for a moment before pausing and looking to the girl again. "Did you want some?"

"Oh I shouldn't-" she starts, but her eyes rove greedily over the array and she quickly digs in along with Bel. "This is good," she grins, "Windrel is a good cook."

"I'll have make sure to thank Windrel before I go, then..." Bel muses aloud.
"So...do you know who saved me?"

"Oh, I don't know," she says, "the guards brought you in. But Lady Bethel might know. A young man convinced her to let you have the room for the night. I think she knows him."

"Hmm...well, I'll be out of your Lady Bethel's hair soon enough..."
Bel turns to the tub and pulls the tie from his hair, preparing to bathe. He felt crusty all over. With his back turned, the scar across the right side of his back is clearly visible. Its obviously an old wound, with the puckered, uneven flesh pulled taut and faded. But it must have been a grievous wound to leave a scar that big.

The girl looks away nervously, but the scar catches her eye and she gasps. "How-" A sudden, sharp call cuts her off. "Linla! Where are you girl?" Heavy footsteps sound down the hall. "Are you in that room again?" The door rattles and a hefty woman steps into the room. The anger on her face fades into shock as she sees Bel. "Oh," she says, "you're awake."

Bel blinks at the sudden appearance of more visitors.
"Hi...are you Lady Bethel?" he smiles.
Why was everybody surprised that he was awake? He didn't remember much of the attack...it must've been bad. But here he was, alive well, though feeling a little bruisy.

"Yes," the lady says, putting a pleasant smile on her face, "I am Lady Bethel and you are in the Boar's Head Inn. And Linla," she turns to the girl and shoos her gently towards the door, "Needs to serve lunch to room 21 and 22." She turns back to Bel, "Kite should be back shortly. Is there anything we can do for you in the meantime?"

"No...thank you, you've done enough already. I was just thinking of taking a bath." Bel jerks a thumb towards the waiting tub. Bel was starting to wonder about all the attention. He was just a gypsy kid fished out of the harbor. Ah well...savor it while it lasted.
"Is this Kite...the one who saved me?"

"You were half dead when they dragged you out of the water and Kite healed you," she says, "He insists that it wasn't him who saved you though. He says a vine had you and something caused it to let you go. I think he's just playing modest."

"They really should make sure killer vines don't take up residence under their docks..." Bel scratches his head
"I'll be outta here after my bath, don't worry about me. Thanks for everything, really."

She laughs, "I've lived in this town 13 years and I've never seen such a thing. The guard was searching for the creature, but they found nothing. Kite, high and mighty church b*****d that he is, thinks that's evidence of his point. I'll let you get to your bath, though, and inform Kite that you're awake." She gives him a short bow and then leaves.
As Anyel is making his way through the city a warm voice breaks his solitude. "Do you come here often?"

Bel feels confused about the entire situation, now. For one, why is this Kite character so interested in his well being. Kite seemed like a rather influential fellow.
Bel sighs and peels himself out of his skivvies and climbs into the tub for a much needed wash.
