What a strange girl; she was thanking him with chocolate? Well, he did like chocolate. The girl was gone again in a moment and Andrew continued his song. By the time it was done, it seemed everyone had left the tavern. Was it closed? The Changeling shrugged and broke down his instrument, placing it back in the case. "That was good enough anyhow. We feel better now, don't we Duvessa? And look, we got a present." He picks up the chocolate bars. "Well. I suppose I will be eating your share, though." He did not mind speaking to himself aloud seeing as how the last patron had already left. Who was going to overhear him?

The Raptors were freaking. They could be seen, and that was something the leader hadn't counted on. They swarmed in and around each other in a crazy, unformulated pattern, knocking into each other left and right.
Clif lifted his Ruger once more, dropping the paint nozzel to the ground. His eyes trained on a target, emptying shell after shell into each dripping red body, until they were all dead. Their teeth protruded at odd angles from their strange flesh-like beaks, much like how a cat's tounge jabs from it's mouth when it dies.
There was a sour odor as the Shadow carcasses began to decompose, melting away and vaporizing before Clif's very eyes. He knelt down and reached his his hand into the mouth of the first, grasped the teeth of the upper jaw tightly, then wrenched them out. With a sucking, poping noise, the now feeble gums gave way to his will, gunk from the inner workings of the beast spraying forth and coating his clothes as he clutched a line of teeth in his hand. He quickly repeated the process until every line of teeth was recovered, and he was drenched in the splatter that was, essentially, whatever Shadows were made of.

Jasper allowed herself to relax as she entered the safety of her home. She had sprinted to her apartment to delay any other meetings with Shadows. As she lay down on her bed attempting to go to sleep, she couldn't help but think of Lila, and how she had saved her.

'And what was with her back?' Jasper thought. It wasn't visible, since it was dark, but it seemed as if there was a large, moving mass behind Lila's back. Lila had said a Shadow picked her up, but Jasper wasn't so sure if that was true.

"Oh well, nothing I can do about it now." She said to herself. She closed her eyes and, to her surprise, was actually able to fall asleep.

Clif decided not to stay in the warehouse. Four pairs of Raptor teeth would be more than enoough to pay for the weeks food, and besides, running across another swarm of Raptors was not in his health plan.
He quickly ducked out of the building, running through the narrow alleys in the array of the automotive district. He could see now that the weyrs were much more full than when he had come. The darkness of the Shadows was nearly physical, whisping out of every opening, while the loud calls of the beasts could be heard, screams terrible enough to cauterize a wound into a decaying mass.
Clif was nearly out of the complex when he heard a growl behind him. It was terrible, loud, and, most of all, hungry. He turned sowly, going around to face a Burlap.
The name sounds funny, but the creature is nothing to mess with. It was dubbed a Burlap because of the retractable hood over it's head. By casting it wide and far enough, the Burlap ensnared it's prey, like kidnappers and a burlap sack. The hood was the fleshy equivalent of an Isolation Chamber, cutting off everything from the outside world. You were disoriented, and therefore panicky, causing you to asphixiate. That was when it ate you.

It was late... Andrew finally decided to go home. There was no avoiding the normal shadows beneath which beastly ones lurked. But he never worried much about it; most scampered away with a flick of the wrist and a lighting of his hand. Still, his steps were hurried and he would be glad to reach his apartment. The lights he used to keep the shadows at bay was the only defense he had.

The creature padded it's way toward Clif, it's tails swinging in a soft rythum, like it was happy. Like it wanted to play with him before it ate. It must have come from one of those over crowded Shadow weyrs, because it's dark evergies were charged so much that it nearly shone black. It was definantly visible, and it's teeth were definantly bared. It looked like a panther, for the most part. An eyeless, hooded panther with three tails. Okay, retrospect, it looked nothing like a panther. But, it's claws were drawn, and it was closing the gap, slowly, as if waiting for him to do something. Clif was scared stiff, couldn't move. The Burlap had a solution for that.
It screamed.
Then, he was off, running full on down the alley, as fast as he could, with the Burlap loping along right behind him.

Jasper jumped at the sound of a shrill, shrieking sound, very unhuman-like. It could only be the cry of a Shadow. Slightly aggravated at being awoken from her sleep, she rolled over to look at her alarm clock. She had only gotten three hours of sleep, with was a decent amount for the insomniac.

"Oh well," She grunted as she got up, "Might as well go on a hunting spree." When she was dressed in her bounty hunting garments, she pulled a rather large, bulky case out from under her bed and opened it. Inside was her large assortment of weapons, which included guns, knives, and special weapons just in case she ran into a supernatural being. Tonight, Jasper decided on a pistol made of silver with silver bullets, two daggers and a machete. Then she ran out the door into the dark night.

As she used her unhuman speed running across town, she found the creature that had made the noise and why. It was a Burlap, a very dangerous breed of Shadow that Jasper had learned about in her studies. However, this was her first time seeing one. She then saw that the Burlap was pursuing a man, a hunter to be exact. Upon closer inspection, Jasper realized it was a man who had been in the Golden Tavern. Clif was the name she had heard him say.

"This could be interesting," Jasper muttered and, staying hidden in the shadows, quietly watched the pursue to see how Clif would get himself out of the situation.

Clif ran down the alley, unaware that he was being observed. He ran blindly for a while before he realized that Burlaps were much faster than any normal human could ever hope to be. He realized that, unless he did something, he was going to die. So, he did the only thing he could do. He turned to face the beast.
It seemed as though the creature sensed that the game was over, as the lopeing gait faded away completly. It stopped roughly six feet from where Clif stood, less visible than it had been a few minutes ago, but the teeth still glinted, silver in a swath of darkness. It's tail twitched rythmically, it's hood beginning to flap in a phantom wind. It was preparing to strike.
Clif removed his red-brown hat and slid his coat down his arms, letting it collapse on the pavement behind him. Now he wore all black, with the exception of the brown holster strapped to his chest. On the small of his back, there was a knot of looping cords. A pewter block could be seen within, or not really a block, more like a handle. His hand hovered inches from it, his knees bent and ready, his eyes agile.

[Sorry about the huge delay; IRL got in the way of Gaia. But! I'm back, and the RP shall resume!!! D: sorry again.]

---Day 2---

Alexander wandered the streets for a while, still too restless to go home for real. Even though it seemed that everyone else was heading back to their respective places, he just couldn't really settle down. He didn't feel like a fight, though, either. He just wanted to wander and find somewhere interesting to go.

As such, he avoided the place where he could hear the shrieking of the shadow creatures, but he felt bad for whoever it was that was being attacked. Normally he'd jump in, try to help out, but he was too tired. His reflexes weren't what they should be because of his injuries, and it would probably just get them both killed.

He stared around him, various people making their way to whatever it was they needed to do. Life in the city, while having a basic idea of what time it was, really just depended on the individual. Having no sunrise, always in this perpetual darkness, really kept things from being as simple as awake and asleep. There was always some sort of activity in the city...

Eventually, without his consent, his feet led him back to his mansion in the nobles' district, and he resignedly went back inside.

Immediately he was smacked into by a little sandy-haired teen, who promptly started scolding him for being out so late.

"I know, I know, Verr. I stopped to take a break after I was done hunting, that's all. Now, stop scolding and start helping." He stripped off his swords, laying them gently on the carpet, and then proceeded up to his room to bathe and change like he'd wanted to so desperately earlier. Sleep, however, may not be so easy.

Clif's hunter's watch beeped a bit. It was past midnight, the next day, and he was still stalemated with the Burlap. It had been a tough couple of hours, circling and watching. So far, both of them had given up excellent defenses, neither presenting any holes to the other. The tension was building; it had to happen soon.
Saliva was dripping from the now translucent creature. It's silver teeth were still clearly visible, and it mawed it's jaws hungrily. It padded left, diagonally. Clif responded in the same fashion, a soft step to the left. Circling, circling, endless circling.
Then, the tension snapped. It wasn't the big thing, just a subtle change. The Burlap's tails stopped moving and dropped down straight. The calm before the storm.
Suddenly, it struck, throwing it's weight forward, casting to hood forward, ready to envelope Clif in a shroud of darkness. But, Clif was faster still. His hovering, threatening hand snatched at the handle, then snapped upward. The bullwhip cracked open the translucent skin of the Burlap, spliting the hood and spraying him with the darkling blood.

Home, sweet studio apartment. Ah, how it was nice to be home. Well, it had a bed at any rate; that was always good. It was a sparsely furnished living space; the kitchenette area had a folding card table with one chair and his main living area consisted of shelves with his clothing and books and a trunk sitting next to his queen sized bed. The entire area was obnoxiously neat, even the tiny bathroom.

Andrew opened the trunk, placed his saxophone case inside and locked it up. There was nothing else important enough to him to keep in there; the chest's only other contents were some heavy weights. From under his bed he tugged out a table cloth, an alarm clock that was still plugged into the wall despite its location and a few other odds and ends typical for a bedside stand. He arranged these things with a**l precision atop the locked chest. A long story made short, Andrew was determined to make his baby as theft proof as he conceivably could. It was not the safest neighborhood he lived in.

Duvessa safely put away, Andrew took a quick shower, tucked the chocolate bars in the fridge and went to bed. Sleep came easily to him; it always did.

The beast screamed once again, jumping backward, before attempting to attack Clif again. Another crack of the bullwhip across it's eyeless face, and it ran off into the night, intent on seeking less dangerous prey before noon. Clif let out a long sigh of relief, and relaxed himself. With a quick jerk of his hand, he coiled the whip into his palm before placing it back in the holster on the small of his back.

Jasper, still in hiding, watched Clif and the Shadow battle on, almost as if they were dancing. At least, that was how Jasper saw most fights, as an improved dance routine. She studied Clif's fighting style, making mental notes. He was experienced. He copied his enemies in a mirror image. He was quick. So many little things that Jaspers eyes and mind took in, soaking up the information, and without her realizing it.

Finally, she came back to her senses when Clif cracked his whip and sent the Burlap running. Jasper simply smirked and stood, getting ready to head back home. There was no need for her to hunt tonight. As she walked away from her spot on the roof, a Shadow jumped her by surprise.

"What the-?" She started. Faster than lightning she spun, pulled her gun out, and shot the fiend. However, she had spun too fast, and was now falling off the roof of the 10 story building she was on.

Involuntarily, she screamed.
