Emerwyn's nerves jumped and calmed all at once when Ian spoke.
She moved over to a chair and sat down.
"That I would - I thank thee."
Well, a fine mess you've gotten yourself into, Shakespeare!
How was she to tell Ian about her troubles, when he was the cause?

Ian went to his leaf stash and pulled out a few of the sweet ones Emerwyn had introduced him to. Handing some to her he sat on the bed with one for him. He chewed slowly before prodding Emerwyn again. "Please, surely thy problems cannot be such that I cannot be told. Mayhaps I could help." Ian was very worried and it was obvious in his voice. He continued eating the leaf waiting for some sort of reaction.

Emerwyn didn't know what to say. She cared too much to hurt him... But she wasn't even sure.... Did he feel the same way that she did? Or had he run away in fear of how she acted towards him...? She had never thought about this before. But, either way, she had to tell him.
"Ian... I must be forward with thee." Would the blow be lighter speaking like this? Probably not, but she pressed on. "For the past fortnight since last we met, one thing has been troubling my mind. The thought rose up before me like a wave cresting out of the black northeast, when the long darkness undersea roared up and bursted drumming doom upon the windwhipped sand." She was getting carried away here, of course, but she was caught up in a moment, and the powerful quote from Sophocles was only fitting. "The thought that was so evil, that I didst cringe each time it drew near, which was far too often indeed. And yet, something else arose within me. This something that was so pleasing, and didst bring upon me such a longing, such an aching need, that it only made the thought all the more evil."
She paused for a breath. And the hesitation made it harder to say.
"That great evil that has - and does yet - plagued me is - you."
She choked on the last word.
"The look in thine eyes, the sound thy voice makes, the way that thou speakest, when thou speakest to me... It has riddled me so that I shouldst love thee... when there is another."

Ian was speechless. In his heart there was joy - and yet deep sadness existed at there being another. But since Emerwyn had told him how she felt, he decided it only fair to tell her how he felt as well. "Emerwyn, I must also confess. My feelings towards thee art more than what I have showed to thee. Everytime I have seen thee, my heart swells with those feelings that I have tried to supress." He took a deep breath before continuing. "Mayhaps that is why I have been hiding, but no longer. But-" it was then that Ian halted. How was he going to phrase this eloquently? Then a burstof reasoning hit him. "The other - is the man from the photograph." He said it more as a statement then a question. His heart felt like it was going to break and he swallowed a few times to clear his throat, ignoring the moisture building in his eyes.

Emerwyn tried to keep her voice steady. "He is."
She stood up, unable to look him in the face any longer. She walked away, across the room. Maybe... If he didn't feel the way I do.... it wouldn't have hurt so badly.
She said something, or more simply mouthed it, her head bowed, and her back turned away. For all his straining, and his incredibly acute senses, Ian could not hear it.

Ian knew that and as Emerwyn turned away he could feel his leaf startto sit uncomfortably in his stomach chamber. Not now, he willed it. Wait, I can't afford to chew cud now. This was his only chance, he had to do something. If he waited he might lose his only chance to do something he felt he needed to do. He stood up and the bed creaked - rather loudly he thought - and approached Emerwyn from behind. He didn't hear her say anything except the two words and he didn't see her mouth moving either. "Emerwyn." He whispered unsure of what else to say. He blinked away the moisture and touched her shoulder lightly with a hooved hand his ears drooping.

She turned around swiftly and her arms were around his chest in an instant, her face meeting his.
Tears now fell freely down her cheeks, released with the urge that she satisfied.
There was no other moment but now.

Ian was startled when Emerwyn spontaneouslyturned around and kissed him. His green eyes widened and he wrapped his arms around her as well, after all, this was what he had wanted. His eyes resumed there normal size and Ian held Emerwyn close and kissed her back as best he could with his deer-like snout. Lucky for him his stomach wasn't using this inopportune moment to regurgitate. One hand moved from behind her and Ian used a non-hoof-covered portion to wipe tears from one of her cheeks gently. His ears perked back to an erect position on his head and at this time Ian felt as if he were floating.

For an eternity even longer and more glorious than the last time she'd held him in his arms, Emerwyn stayed wrapped in his embrace.

Then her eyes shot open. She saw Jerrick's face, as it had appeared in her dream. And she knew.

Immediately, Emerwyn tore away from Ian, a look of petrification on her face. Her head slowly shook, as though it was only just occuring to her what happened.

"No..." She turned, and fled.

((We can continue this, in fact I'd like to. He can follow her, or we can do a fast forward. Your call. wink ))

'No,' Ian was confused. He had seen the look on Emerwyn's face. For a bit he stared blankly as she ran then the fogginess cleared and he raced after he almost tripping. "Emerwyn!" he called after her. "Wait!" He almost tripped as he hadn't ever run on his hooves before. His stomach protested as he jostled it with his movements. Not now, he prayed, just wait a bit longer.

Ian was now at his door, now what was he to do? Previous times he had been fortunate enough to get help in opening his door, therefore he didn't even know if he was capable of opening it by himself. He looked at Emerwyn, unconscious in his arms and then back at the door.

Upon finding an idea Ian carefully set Emerwyn down in the soft grass to the side of the door and fiddled with his doorknob. No luck. Frowning he tried again cursing when it failed. Ian was not a very patient man and he grew very frusterated with the door very quickly. "Damn," he cursed backing a step away from the door. It was now time for "Plan B" Bending his knees Ian gave a roar and kicked out towards the defiant door. The impact of his hoof on the door sent a shock rolling through his body, a shock that with human feet he could have easily kept his balance, but with his hooves he teetered unsteadily and fell backwards onto his tail. "Wah!" His tailbone really hurt from that and he didn't want to get up so he sat there.

Joliette Rigiel

Joliette was wandering towards the cafeteria pulling her hair back into a ponytail, she STILL hated the green color and it hadn't washed out despite shampooing a half dozen times.. oh well she'd get it out eventually... she hoped...

The sound of a yell though caught her attention, it wasn't all that far away so she made a detour for it. Upon arrival she was met with half humourous and half disturbing scene "Ian? Are you ok?" she asks

Emerwyn still lay unconcious, the blood drying on her face, her body now on the ground. But her mind was still swimming with images.
As Ian laid her down on the hard ground, a dark sensation ran through her. She felt lost, and exposed. Bright flashes burst forth from behind closed eyes. In her sleepless dream, she wanted to squirm, but her body would not allow it.
For all the fighting and tossing she did in her dreams, her body and face were still as death.

Ian heard Joliette's voice from behind him but for now he made no effort to get up. Looking quickly at Emerwyn and seeing her lie there still as death made his heart squeeze. "I am relatively unharmed, but I would request thine assistance for a slight inconvenience I have." He winced at the ain in his tailbone and pushed himself up slowly. "I seem to find myself lacking the neccessary patience to open this door." He was too far used to it to be embarassed anymore.
