"He's a pack leader, if that's what you're yammering about," Madison breathed, thankful to have his personal space once more. "Geez, I didn't make you regress or anything, did I? Are you spirit sensitive? Something else? I really don't know a thing about soul magic, got no idea what's wrong with your head."
Great conversationalist, our Maddie.

"He... he did it." This news seemed to calm Teil down a great deal, sighing softly as he glanced around. "Where are we? Who are you? Have we met?" he asked, blinking at Madison as his eyes cleared and focused on the unicorn. "You have a card on your horn..."

Nope. He wasn't lying. "Did you hit your head?" Maddie asked curiously, drawing his knees closer and resting his arms on them as he stared at the demon curiously. "And yes, there's a card on my horn. You can thank Morrie for that one."

"Head...? No... why would I have hit my head...? And who's Morrie... do I know him? Her? Him? Her? It?" Asteil asked, blinking. Morrie...? Was that some sort of weird nickname...? Pet name? Love name?

Rather belatedly, Madison realized that asking an amnesiac what they remembered was usually a hopeless endeavor.
Oops.
"Never mind that. Tell me about Atticus--you've been a bit out of the loop, you might have noticed. What's the last thing you remember?"

"Atticus... said something about the Quest... and then we talked... and then he was gone... and..."
What had happened afted that...?
"A thunderstorm... and that's all," Teil whispered softly. "I don't know... what happened after that."

Hokay...
Storms, tempests, metaphors.
No, this one was probably literal. "Does the name 'Madison' ring a bell? At all?"

Asteil blinked slowly. "No...? Should it?" he asked, bewildered. What the hell was going on here...? Where was Atticus? Damn coon...
Now that he was no longer terrified that Atticus had been killed doing something stupid or 'noble', Asteil found himself distinctly annoyed that the coon wasn't here. And that he hadn't been the one to tell Teil first that he was a pack leader.

There was a fascinating shift of emotions going on underneath that demon's skin... Madison wasn't entirely sure the new emotion would be better than the... frantic schizophrenia? Okay, fine, new would be better than old and it wasn't quite schizophrenia.
"Selective memory loss, huh?" he said more to himself than to Asteil. "Look, friend, you're missing a bit of time in your head, okay? I don't know when Atticus became a beta, but it's been less than a year--...Are you listening to me?"

"A year?" Teil blinked. "Less than-- but more than a while? Wait... but he was just... I thought..."
Oh hell no. HELL no. "What did he do?" Teil whispered, wondering how the hell he got mixed up with someone like Atticus. "What happened...?"

"Are you asking that rhetorically?" Madison asked curiously, "I really have only the barest idea of what the hell you're talking about."

"I need to talk to him-- I need to know what the hell he did!" Teil swore viciously under his breath. "You have to take me to him. Please?"
Something had happened, and Teil just knew Atticus was at the center of it. Which meant that this was going to be problematic. Very problematic. Especially if things had changed since Atticus was now a Pack Leader...

"Funny that," Madison mused quite calmly, vague smile stretched across his lips, "I actually don't 'have' to do anything. You were being confused, and now you're being stubborn and irrational. In both cases, you've been pretty psychotic. I'm really not inclined to do what you tell me to."

Asteil studied Madison for a moment before smiling. "You're right. You don't. But I don't have to stay here and talk to you either."
With those words, Teil took to the skies as fast as he could, trying to get his bearings.

Stupid--little--
However fast Madison's appreciation of Asteil's existence was rapidly detiorating, he still felt a tad responsible for the neurotic idiot.
Unfortunately, the weakness of before didn't seem to be taking hold anytime soon. Apparently, the only thing holding the demon back before had been confusion. Well argh. "Bet he doesn't even know where he is," the unicorn sighed, doing everything in his power to keep from being irritated. More irritated, that is.
Two options. Let him go off, find Atticus on your own. Or stop him and stuff him in a closet until you figure out what's going on.
"Whatever has you so distracted, Garden?"
The unicorn jumped in surprise, "Hello~ Eddie," he recovered as best he could, glancing at the coon from the corner of his eye. "I have a problem," he continued, pointing at the fast fleeing demon in the sky. "You want to help me not let him find Atticus on his own?"
Of all the anthropomorphs he knew--knew well enough to say he knew, at least--Madison was the one who seemed to understand the way things worked. Pity, that. "I'm not quite sure what you mean," he murmured indifferently, eyes on Asteil.
"Sure, okay," Maddie nodded agreeably, taking off one of his rings and tossing it in the air, drawing some invisible insignia into the empty space in front of him. He caught the shimmer-net the ring had been with a well-practiced ease before just as quickly throwing it up and away in the direction of Asteil's flight. "Make up your mind by the time he 'lands', kay?"
Edmund pursed his lips slightly, waiting to see if the unicorn's newest trick carried any true merit.
