((sorry guys. Gaia was being mean about me posting. I'm back now.))

Faye really couldn't come up with anything to say when the announcement for dinner came. Instead of saying anything she nodded when lead by the boys and nodded again when the newcomer greeted her. She walked with Evan into the dinning room, slightly taken aback by the size of the room. They hadn't eaten in this area yet, using a smaller room for the dinners past.

She was a little disappointed when Veera announced no seating arrangement, but thought that it might give her a chance to sit by someone she didn't have to talk to. She looked around for a moment at the seats that were left, feeling a little overwhelmed she decided to hand the decision over to the boys with princes with her.

"Where would you guys like to sit?" She asked with a small smile.

Wafiya looked at her new living room. Who would've thought that re-arranging some furniture and a paint job could do! Her walls, now a light shade of lilac to match the lime-green and pink furniture. It had a very fairy type look to it, which was Wafiya's favorite look. She happened to look at the clock and noticed it was 2:00pm. She fluttered over to the kitchen to make some lunch.

Cain jerked slightly, coming out of his deep thoughts at the sound of the question. "I don't really care..." He mumbled, but then a suddenly brilliant idea popped into his head, one that was admittedly quite devious all things considered. "How about over by Elc?" He asked, his voice temporarily loosing it's far off quality and the softness it had earlier; now it was just raspy in the bottom of it. Cain's plan was quite a simple one: if they were near someone else then Evan might be less inclined to be flirtatious, Cain was hoping Evan was a little shy about these kinds of things, and what if Elc wanted to talk to Faye as well? Sure, he might be ruining his own chances, but he needed to test the waters some how.

Faye thought about it for a second, she couldn't quite remember who who Elc was. She looked at the table again and noticed the "new guy" as she had dubbed him. 'Oh, that must be Elc.' She thought, turning to Cain. "Alright, sounds like an idea. Lead the way." She said with another smile looking back and forth between her two escorts.

Elc's eyes flicked to the young royalty and back to Koreck. He leaned back slightly and starred with a researcher's eye at the man. After a few moments had passed he smiled slightly and said carefully, "Don't think I've seen you at these little get-togethers before." He reached a hand partway across the table, keeping his eyes on the man's face. "My name is Elc. I'm the Oracle around here."

"I'm bored, what more can I say," Koreck sighed heavily, and shook the man's hand, "Koreck. I'm a...mercenary of sorts," he paused, "Oracle...you've been the human world then. One of the lucky few blessed with that privilage."

Evan mentally raised an eyebrow at Cain's sudden mood shift, but said nothing and kept his face cool and collected as they got to the table. Oh, he was up to something, and Evan had to work with it.

Ok Evan, just like at old meetings and royal gatherings......on with the game face!

And just like that, his more confident self suddenly appeared; a dazzling smile came to his face as they entered. With a light skip to his step, he quickly greeted a few of the people from past meetings before he found a good chair. Nice spot, nothing broken on it....perfect!

"Ah, here's a good chair, Lady Faye! Eh, after you." he said, pulling it out for her to sit in.

"That's what everyone keeps telling me." Elc let go of Koreck's hand and sat back, smiling easily; he had decided that he liked this man.
"You ever been?" he asked.

Lasarina nodded in agrreement and started for a place to sit for the two of them, far from where her brother was headed with Faye and Evan. "Ya know, that actually reminds me... I've, uh... been meaning to... apologize... for when we were younger..." The princess started reluctantly. It was really hard to admit she was wrong, it went against her entire personality and it went against her need to keep herself shielded from others. "Truth is, I've always felt bad about it..." She continued slowly, she didn't want to do this but she knew she had to, and she knew she would feel better later. "I only treated you that way because I wanted to have friends... the only friend I've ever had is my brother, and I thought if I joined in with them I would be accepted... I actually thought you were nice back then, and I felt bad... but... I didn't want to be made fun of too..." Lasarina sighed nervously, scratching at the back of her ear in embarassment.

Once she got that part of her apology out, it was a little easier to continue with the rest of her apology. "I know it doesn't make it any better, but... I really am sorry... It was only when I got older I realized that being mean to you didn't make them my friends. I've regretted that stupid decision every day since then, and I really wish I could go back and stand up for you..." She finished with an apologetic smile. Sacrifice was just something you had to do if you wanted to be someone's friend, and in this case her pride was the sarcrifice.

"I'm actually from there," Koreck shrugged, crossing his arms, "But I fit in better here, than among the humans...whether I like it or not," he paused, shaking his wings a bit, "No offence, I'm just not overly fond of...your kind. I have my reasons."

((blech, I've got writer's block. My creativity is being channeled elsewhere))

Cain arched an eyebrow at Evan but smiled and laughed a little. "I see I've been beaten to the punch." He said in a good natured voice, but mentally he was only thinking: strike one for Evan, zip for Cain. Still, his smile was quite friendly and he actually did have to admit that Evan's move was quite good, he had a bit of grudging respect for the prince now. Cain pulled out his own seat and sat down, now that he couldn't be the gentleman, and merely smiled. "And they say chilvary is dead..." He complimented, the smile slipping into a bit more of a smirk.

((Totally BSing a flashback reason for Violet here; might as well give her a reason to fear people. sweatdrop ))

Violet was walking with Lasarina to the table, when the fire princess suddenly stopped and began speaking in a rather nervous tone, as if something she was dreading yet wanting to do. Whatever it was it was going to be no lie. Violet put up two good ears: what could she want to make her so-?

Violet stared in shock as the girl was speaking (probably rude, but totally unconsiously doing it), surprised to hear...an apology? For all those years back? It tugged at Violet's heartstrings as she tried to remember the time long ago while searching for her voice again.

She had remembered the breaking point; everyone wanted her to fly because she actually had a bit of wing more than the others. She didn't want to, saying that she figured that the gravity of the pull would be stronger than the flying compacity of her barely working wings and thus being a negative response and very pointless to try, but in the end was pushed off the tower by the group (probably for hte long complicated sentence to the other five/six-year-olds. That was a very long drop, pure drop, down into the lake. She had shot past blurs of tree and building, and looking up to see laughing pointing faces, and splashed into the water hard. She had nearly drowned, and her mom had been the one to rescue her. A very irritated mother had taken her home early, the child wrapped and shivering in a blanket and crying, with laughter in the background from the others. She had been scared of people since. And one of her wings had been sprained for a few weeks, but healed nicely as if nothing happened.

Violet finally looked up at the girl, tears of joy threatening to fall, but she held them back.

"Thank you. That means.......so much to me. You have no idea. I-I mean, I can't blame you for trying to join in; I too h
ad tried, but guess I was/am still the odd one out on this group. Perhaps I had been to shallow of mind back then; I should've tried to sound less like a brainac and more of a normal kid." she paused for a dry chuckle. "But that was never my path, and I thought by being more truthful about it it would have been avoiding living a lie. But I guess it didn't matter in the long run.

But yes, let's forget about the past and start anew; it's been awhile since I've been able to chat with you anyways." she smiled a rare, warm smile at her new friend. Perhaps this trip wouldn't be so bad afterall.

Evan noticed the boy looking fairly calm, but wondered what he was thinking on the inside. He didn't want this to be a competiton, but rather a chance to meet a nice lady.

After all, ever since tehy got an early picture of her, Evan had been captivated by her beauty. He'd spend hours just staring at the picture, murmuring random words (as violet had put it to him).

"Eh, it's nothing; it's just been awhile since I've been at any meetings. So, it's been awhile since I've seen you; how have you been?" he asked the other prince, to start conversation and to lessen Faye's nerves.

Elc raised an eyebrow, but still held his amused smile. "Well, you keep strange company for someone who doesn't like fairies." He glanced pointedly at Queen Veera.
Inside he was thinking of where Koreck could possibly be from. He claimed to human world, and the only way Elc could think of that being possible would be if he was a half-breed. Or perhaps he meant he was just born there. Curious.
Just as Elc had predicted, the Princes chose to sit near him, Prince Evan playing the chivalry card and pulling a chair for the Lady. Very nice. With mysterious dragonfly men and a human turned fairy, this was shaping up to be a very insightful evening.

Cain shrugged his shoulders in a response. "It's a bit complicated, actually." He said nonchalantly, but under the table both of his hands had clenched into fists again. "I'm sure you know how my father is... well, he's been... worse, lately... And to add to that Lasarina's been acting strange..." He said in a stiff voice, his eyebrows furrowing in worry. He might as well get out in the open now so that people would know later not to ask him how things are going.

Lasarina returned Violet's smile with one of her own. It wasn't as bad apologizing as she had thought it would be, in fact, it was actually rather rewarding. "To be honest, I like reading a lot myself. You don't have to worry about being the only brainiac around, though you were shockingly smart when we were little... Bet you could still talk circles around me." She laughed, grinning at the girl beside her.
