Amie smiled and held him up again. "He's... I don't know," she said funny with a false half-pout. "I got a card with him. Telling me to care for him, but... what he'll be, if anything else,... I suppose that remains to be seen."
Marlith smiled, nearly laughing. "I'll take that as a 'good' different." she said. "To be fair, I guess I have to give my impression. My very first impression was a sort of conquest, but even before I spoke I sense something. You were worth... spending more time on, more..." she waved her hand, searching for words. "Je ne sais qoui... sincerity. I had a desire to know you more."
Sam nodded very slightly, suddenly aware they were still dancing. Amazing, she thought. It seems natural. Then aloud, "I don't believe in putting off love, not when it's real. I'm jealous of you. I wish it were as plain to see a true love." She blushed slightly. "Not that... I mean. I wish you didn't have the color blindness first. But just the knowing when it's real."

She smiled. "Well based on his coloring what do you guess him to be?" She was making small talk if anything...
"A desire eh?" he grinned. Okay he had needed to be out more rather then stuck at home reading or something.
A twitch of a smile touched the corner of his mouth. "You're jealous of me? I should be jealous of you. You can see color, and appreciate them. I'll have to discover them all over again..."

Amie laughed. "Based on his color and the flower pattern I would have guessed he was a girl. But the letter was specific. After seeing what's in the labyrinth, I think he could be anything."
This time she did laugh, lightly. "I didn't mean it that way, but, I'm a woman of flesh and blood, so yes, there's that too. But I mean about getting to know you. You're interesting."
"I know," Sam admitted. "It's silly isn't it. I would hate not to see color. It adds so much. But, so many people are never sure. You do have that at least."

She giggled. "I wish I had a companion like that... it'd be kinda cool. They seem like they'd live a long while...."
"I was joking. Though now how do i convince a few siblings that I'm not in love with you?" He did like her. He just wasn't ready for the whole I love you date then marry thing. He was a dragon....He wasn't going to screw up.... on purpose anyway.
"People take it for granted...even their emotions they take for granted. I could have memories of feelings, of what they were but may not feel them for long..."

"He is a wonderful friend, even though he doesn't talk. He came into my life at a low point. Really helped me out."
"Let them think what they want," Marlith said as the food arrived. "They're goign to tease anyway. It's part of the joy of families. In the mean time..." She shrugged. THe temptation was there to say maybe he would fall in love, but he clearly wasn't there. He didn't seem the type who would deny what he felt if he knew he felt it. To be honest, she was deeply in twitterpation, but barely knowing him, she couldn't say she was in love. What did one do when one wasn't looking for a lusty but brief affair but wasn't in love, but still wanted to be with someone. This was new territory. She took a bite of her food.
"Which is why we need to find you... someone. You're good. I can tell. You deserve the feelings and the colors, and everything the world offers. I hope I can return that to you." She nearly blushed again. She had meant help him find someone. But the way it had sounded... would he take it that she meant she was in love? surely not after what she had said before.

"I've only had my sister to help through the tough times...then again with all the fighting she does, she needs me around to heal up." She grinned. "Though it would be nice to have another to lean on sometimes."
He simply smiled. "True enough..." In the meantime, he cut into his steak, grinning a little, seeing how rare it was before taking a bite. And it was good...even when it wasn't cooked and he would stomach whatever else decided to come with it.
Alex smiled briefly. he'd caught the bare thought but that was it. "I appreciate the help. I really do." There...that wasn't taking it wrongly was it?

"You get along with your sister then?" she asked. "My sister and I are quite different. I suppose she cares, but I'm not part of her social circle. She doesn't care for who I am." She shrugged. "More friends are nice, but it's good just to have one person who likes you, isn't it?"
Marlith spoke between bites. "You know what you like," she said. "There was a time I thought that everyone did. But so many don't."
Sam was very suddenly awkward. It was a mental situation, but she could feel it was affecting her whole body. Her feet stumbled just the tiniest bit, ruining the rhythm of the beat. Why was it such a big deal that he understand what she meant? Was she such a bad candidate? Why was she even having these thoughts? She had told the truth: while she had never excluded herself from the idea that people would have a match, she had also never specifically thought of herself as potentially a match for anyone. But now the thought had unintentionally come to her mind -- because of uncareful words, and now she couldn't shake it. It was foolish and irresponsible. She wanted for him to see color, not just because she loved all people, but she wanted *him* to see color. She wanted to be there when he did. She shivered, and finally released his hand, stepping back.
((yay! I should write romantic comedies starring Meg Ryan or something!))

((heh heh romantic comedies...))
"it's quality that counts, not quaintity. Yes, I do get along with her very well. Sure we have a few arguements and fights but eventually we push that stuff aside when we need each other. I should let you meet her..." She mused at the thought.
Dyvim blinked at her, mouth opened slightly to receive the next bite before he closed his mouth and looked at her curiously. "I like good meat. There's a friend of mine who's mother makes this excellant stew....I can't get enough of it!" He grinned. Okay a dragon who reads books and enjoys good food....just don't ask him to cook.
"Something wrong?" He asked as he let her go. He tilted his head. Sure he could have plucked the information from her...but that was a really rude thing to do...and he wasn't rude.

"I'd love to. She sounds like an interesting woman."
Marlith took another sip of wine. "ANd you honestly do. Many people choose to like things because they're 'supposed' to." She shrugged. "There's a difference. It makes you real. On the other hand, I... am not always sure what I like."
"I..." She started. She wasn't willing to say it. What if it was just a whim? What if he didn't feel anything? She wasn't sure how to say it anyway. She turned her face. "You know how to dance well. That will impress a woman. I... could set you up with someone if you like."

"Alright. We'll go find her then." She grinned. Oh this would fun! Already, Ris was moving to find her sister.
"Why not? Some things are liked on instinct." He pointed out, eating the bite that hadn't gone to his mouth yet.
"Who do you suggest?" Again, he sensed something wasn't right. Would he push it? Not today.
(no pic of rose yet either. Still need to work on that)

Amie found Ris's enthusiasm infectious. She hastily cradled Bonnie in the crook of her arm and followed after her.
"Well, with food, sure. But I feel so directionless sometimes. I don't know. Maybe I'm just trying too hard to be philosophical."
Sam felt a strange mixture of relief and disappointment when Alex let it go. "I know someone. She needs someone, but doesn't always realize it. She needs someone. She's been hurt before so she needs someone who would be faithful. You certainly fit that. She's kind, cultured, intelligent. And has a hard to pronounced name," she grinned at the last bit.

(*shuffles about stores in hopes of finding a shop for images* ^_^ )
Ris was careful not to run or move too swiftly. Amie was only human afterall. She even 'felt' for her sister along the way, curious to finding her.
"So stop trying to be so philosophical. Well tone it down a bit and you might be surprised to how much more you like things." He was trying to advise her, rather then come off sounding like he was telling her what to do. It was often something he'd heard from raven occassionally and he had taken it a time or two himself.
Alex arched a brow. "A hard to pronounce name?"

Amie kept up, feeling excited about it. "You know where she is?"
Marlith leaned back. "Maybe I'm trying to impress you. I second guess myself a lot. Now, I know some basic things I like, but... what I really want, long term, that's where there's sometimes mystery." she shrugged. "I suppose I can live without it. I do, however, like this wine." she took another swallow, finishing off the glass.
Sam giggled lightly. "Ynisbetryn. I guess it's harder to spell than say. There's a rumor that she once went by Isbeth, but she doesn't care for it now."

"It is a rather nice wine isn't it?"
"Why not now?"

Amie nodded, not sure if she'd be seen, and focussed on keeping up until they reached their destination.
"One could get used to it," she said.
"Well, she's had it hard. It's a diminutive form of her name, like 'richie' for Richard. So I think she just feels too old for it."
