(Sorry about the cheiftans, but groups like 10-20 people need a high ranked commander you know?) Richard heard his com and knew trouble was on one end of the COM...But which was it? His end only had a few grunts and a maimed jackal. He knew the sergeant was in trouble. He took our his assault rifle and killed the pitiful Jackal and grunts. He than hobbled over to the wraith and looked around, being in sniper school you have to notice some things about the environment. He looked on the ground and by chance almost missing it he saw a human footprint heading away from the wraith. Gotcha. He checked his amunition, twelve sniper rounds with four in the current magazine, four more clips of MA5C ammo, and 4 Plasma and Spiker grenades. He could take out a good number of covenent troops. He then quickly followed the tracks to the forrest, searching almost fruitlessly. Then he spotted blood, not brute blood but red HUMAN blood. He searched for 3 minutes then found a limb and uncovered the rest of the maimed marine. He knew it was fruitless but he tried, pumping steroids and bio foam into the wounds. 'Goddamn it! ******** Covenent bastards!' Even though he wasnt a medical soldier he agian went to sniper school and knew what to pack in emergencies. He Turned on his COM "Any UNSC marine force in range, my name is Richard Resnick. I have wounded, unknown if alive and I am about 170 Meters from the now defunct AA wraith. Please any UNSC personel respond!"

The pain was above all. Yet.. He could not feel it. Numbness as his brain stopped spinning. Stopped working. Thoughts being lost as soon as they were thought up. The human body tried to fight on a fruitless battle.
The ODST knew the wounds. Knew the many spikes driven through his chest. In truth he wished them to leave the body here. Mark KIA and leave him be. Leave him to rest in this lonely part of the woods.

"Holy s**t!" He reopened his COM " Vector Five Five do you copy? AA is down and we need imediate medical transportation!" He turned off his COM. "Sir you got me out of a situation, Im getting you outta this one." A rustle in the bushes caused him to turn, MA5C in hand. A lone Grunt appeared with no weapon but 2 plasma grenades on his belt. Richard didnt much care for visitors. He shot Twice, one grunt down. " Hang in there boss" He quickly grabbed the plasma grenades just as spiker rounds pierced through the foliage. "Damn it! I had hoped we would have more time! BOss your gonna have to pretend dead ok?" He quickly but gently moved Winters under the nearest folaige so he could watch but not be seen. More spiker rounds shot through, almost hitting Richard. He took a spike grenade and threw it towards the oncoming fire. A spiker round hit a tree trunk 4 inches from Richards body, sinking into the bark and cooling into a sharpened metal dart. The grenade exploded, shreiks of pain followed from wounded Brutes. 'Good I got a few of them, I'll throw another to see bring down their numbers.' He primed it up and before he could throw it a brute charged through eight feet away with a spiker with a spiker. Richard threw without the brute noticing behind it and heard a grunt of surprise. It stuck. The brute turned noticing crunching of foliage and charged, firing blindly. One shot hit Richard in the thigh. Before any more damage could be done, Richard had his assault riffle aimed at its head and pulled the trigger. The metal plate deflected a few rounds but two got through its eye socket and hit the brain of the monster. Richard then slung his assault rifle and tried to pick up the spiker, barely able to lift the huge weapon, he fired into the forest then stopped. Shrieking. Hearing this noise he fired again, this time until the clip was gone."Winters" he whispered " You still alive?"

"Copy that 314-05, I'll keep the area clear as possible. Continuing search for survivors.", Bren replied into his COM. He returned to his previous actions, moving debris, checking for life. The wreckage was still ablaze, and no doubt that soon any remaining fuel would detonate from the heat. He had to hurry and find any survivors.
During his search, Bren uncovered one piece of debris to find WO Karr, barely breathing, but his vitals were good...for now. "Karr! Can you hear me!? Wake up!", he yelled at the man, moving additional debris so he could drag him away.

"Goddamnit Vector Five Five where the hell are you?!?" Richard shouted into his mike as spiker rounds tore through the dense thicket of trees, just to settle in the tree trunk protecting him... for now. He climbed up the tree to get a better look at the forces against him half a minute ago, he wont come down for a while. He saw one brute captain surronded by two armored brutes and about six grunts, two of them setting up plasma turrets. 'They must think we have an invasion force or something cause I've never seen them do this before.' He turned on his COM agian but only heard static. Odd. He turned off his come and unslung his sniper rifle. "How you doing down there Boss?" No answer. Probably tired from as he said before " Hauling a**". Richard looked down the scope and fired. CRACK! CRACK! CRACK! He shot two of the three brutes in the head or neck area the third was alive but was mortally wounded in the shoulder, Richard having hit an artery. The grunts, with no leader, ran around in anarchy. The only two grunts not running around were the gunnery grunts and they, amazingly calmed the grunts. They in their native toungue must have told the crunts to clear away from their line of veiw. After the grunts moved the turrets spouted blue purple streams of plasma, burning the trees and native plants, and practically chopping down Richards tree. He knew he couldnt jump down from twenty feet and not end his life. Knowing this he climbed to the other side of the tree and made the tree fall down on its opposite side, the side he was occupying a split second before. The tree fell over and landed only a feww feet from Winters. Richard Injected more bio foam, his last container, into the wound on his leg, then injected half of his steroids into himself. 'Might need some later.' Then the firing stopped. Richard then lobbed a plasma grenade into the air. He heard the frenzy of the grunts trying to dodge the burning grenade. The even more chaos as the grenade landed in between both of the turrets. After throwing the grenade he checked Winters, hobbling because of his rib and thigh. The bleeding had stopped and his pulse wasz there but very low. 'Damn, if God himself doesnt help this man, I will personally see to it that He helps everyone else!'

Brennan grinned. "Looks like your alive kid..." He turned and walked away. The scenario returned to red and became an internecine.
Anthony awoke to people standing over him, his chest hurt like hell and blood oozed from his head. His helmet was AWOL and half of his chest armor was cut off in a chunk. His shoulder guard looked like scrap metal and his leg felt like a spike went through his foot to his thigh.
Anthony looked to the Marine who had picked him out of the wreckage. "You my friend are my crutch, Help me up."
The marine helped Karr to his feet. (Hope you dont mind me putting that)
Keying in his COM, he pinged the Captain and First and Second platoon's Sergeants.
"First platoon, Swing around the back of 5th Platoon and flank. Second, come reinforce my position. I need EVAC outta here stat. Resnick, come here and help me out."

Richard silently crawled through the thicket of brush and under growth while being pursued. Winters' pulse died away almost two minutes forty five seconds ago. THe trap he set for the bastards didnt work. Before leaving the body he primed up a grenade and shouted "Fall back!" and then planted the grnade in the ground, waiting for the demons to follow him. The explosion was dimly heard, only killing a few grunts. He turned on his COM, but then thought better and turned it off. He tried to confuse his pursuers by zigzaging and making erratic turns. So far nothing had worked. He spotted a samll cave with moss growing inside it. He ran for it. He then waited in the darkest corner of the cave for the Covenent to follow. They came but they only paused at the entrance of the cave, not entering, then ran to the east. Richard waited about five minutes then took out his star of David necklace and prayed. Then after praying he got up and stealthily walked towards the smoke pouring in from the downed pelicans. He chose one trail in particular, for what reason he didnt know why, but he had a feeling. He walked for about seven minutes and then the forest slowly started to fade away. Then he saw the group of marines and one man using another as a crutch and he heard his name called.
"...Resnick get over here"
He knew the man's name, Anthony Karr, Pilot of the downed pelican. " Sir, yes sir!" He responded and hobbled to the pilot. "Sir, Sergeant Winters is dead, and I have a few wounds that need some attention." He said as he stopped in front of the man. "By the way before I forget" He unslung the sniper rifle and held it up. " Anyone need a sniper rifle?"

"I need a crutch damnit..." Anthony said to the Corporal. Winter was dead...? This was not good news. Anthony's Heart sank for his friend who had just been killed. He remembered the RECON mission with him. Well, just another casualty of war...
Anthony snatched the rifle from the Marine's Hands. "Set me down at a good firing position. My leg's broken and I think I'm internally bleeding. Someone fetch a medic. Resnick, your a good runner... Go try and find me a Medic. Thats an order Marine."

"I'm on it". Richard "ran" more like jogged in his condition, back a little ways to find a medic. It seemed like forever he had jogged and then he thought he found one lying in a defensive position. "Hey, we need you to help Karr and myself". The man didnt answer. Richard nudged the man, but he just went back to his position. Richard then flipped the man over to mind the man had plasma burns ans spikes jutting out of his torso. Richard's eyes grew wide with fear, knowing that they were being cut off from behind. He jogged back, this time with adrenaline in his veins, to the pelican. As soon as he got there, he told everyone what he saw. "Sir! The medic I found was dead and he was about one and a half klicks behind us sir. I'm gonna see if there are any more medics in the area that can help". Richard the started of to the east, moving stealthily in the underbrush. He again saw a medic, but this time the marine was barely alive. "What happened here?" But the Marine only pointed to the right and then closed his eyes and started shaking uncontrollably. Richard then injected the rest of his medical steroids into the medic and the shaking stopped. He glanced to the right and stopped dead. There was a brute with a spiker in its claws staring at him. It made a strange face at him, what passed as a smile for a brute. It raised the weapon and pulled the trigger. Richard wazs hit in the tricep, shoulder, and chest. Before everything went black, Richard remembered turning on his COM and saying one sentance. "Sir *cough* Resnick here, bad news*coughing* I'm dead and *coughs up blood* your surrounded".

Soon the pelican started towards the ground, turning so Ari and the rest of the men could jump out the back and right straight to the crash. When the pelican turned so Ari got a view of the downed pelican, he immediately belched at the site, close enough to see the horror of all the dead men, but none the less, Ari got out and ran to the pelican as quick as he could. Once he reached the survivors his CO started talking to a soldier while Ari and the other men talked with the other 2 men, and helped one pull out a man from the wreckage.

He nodded, and started to carry Karr to a decent position. "I don't know how you survived that sir. You must be extremely lucky. Now let's hope some of that luck rubs off on me, I want to go home.", he said as he walked, and looked up to the approaching Pelican. He waved his open hand once or twice and continued to carry Karr towards a small gathering of bushes surrounding a tree. Bren gently set down Karr, and waved over a medic. "Keep an eye on my back for me, sir. It sounds like we're surrounded.", he said as he unholstered his M6G and ran to the Pelican.
Passing a few Marines, he stopped one and asked, "Where is your commander? I need to know whats going on here, plus a bigger gun would be nice."

((Ah.. By the way you can't tell a ODST's pulse because of armor in the way xD.))
"I've got you young one. Relax." It was Sarah, her voice calm. Like a mothers. Choking away at the tears. This AI truly would miss this man. Winter.
The man had been entrusted to her in a way. His parents were gone and she was to watch over him.
"Your job is not done yet. You don't have to die."
Blood licked his throat, his mind was floating elsewhere. Some far off place. Richard was gone. The weightless of death seemed to be coming down upon him.
A becon lit up. His eyes, hazy, clouded looked upon his HUD. It was bearing down right upon his position. Beside it his own condition. Almost KIA. Almost gone.
"Hold on Winter. Just hold on soldier."
"What... About... You...."
"They'll find me.. But they can't destroy me."

"I told you to stay with me, Winter and you run off to get yourself killed" said the SPARTAN Commander, reaching down and grabbing the first spike from the Master Gunnery Sergeant's chest. In his left hand he held a small canister of biofoam. He grasped the spike and then pulled, opening the wound for more blood to spill into the body and lungs. Quickly he placed the biofoam which absorbed the blood giving the Sergeant time. The chemicals and nutrients began to feed the body; thank god the SPARTAN suit he was given came with extra biofoam made specifically for wounds such as this. There were certain agents in this biofoam that made the cellular structure of the organs begin to grow back. "Lucky I found you when I did" he wasn't so much as talking to the Sergeant as he was to himself, finding comfort in his words. He continued to do this to all the other wounds, reaching behind the Sergeants head to the helmet to turn off the transponder shortly after. The Commander did the same. "We're going to hide out until you heal, which shouldn't be too long from now, give or take a day" said the Commander picking the soldier up over his shoulder, drawing his side arm. According to the sonar/topographic map provided by Angel, his AI, there was a cave one click south of their position. He made his way toward it.

"Sir...?" The ODST asked, gasping for air each time a spike was pulled from his body, yet nothing more. No sob, no scream, just pain masked behind layers of chemicals and the ultimate mindset. The man was dressed like a Spartan, a hovering hero. One that, as many Hell Jumpers were, jealous. But to him jealously was not something that came into the midst of battle. Winter was stronger then most of his own kind, kind of soldier.
"Sir. I am Sarah." Beckoned a voice from the man's speaker. Something Winter would have been disgruntled about if he had been able to retort. "Do you have access to all of Winter's medical files? If not perhaps a look over his file may be helpful."
Sarah was a herself, and never referred herself as an AI. Something against her. She thought herself more then artificial. And sometimes for good reason.

"Stow it Sarah, we need to be silent" he said as he trotted swiftly into the denser jungle. Above their heads the air began to become more humid than it was, denser with moisture. A light drizzle turning into a pour. By the time they reached the out cropping of rock the rain had turned into a steady downpour, lighting flashing in the sky, the thunder cracking like a whip at their backs, the Gods telling them to hurry.
It was a storm like none that Michael had ever seen, but he would focus on that later.
Slowly he climbed down the small cliff with one hand and the Sergeant over his shoulder, all the way to the cave where the entered. He set the man down against the hard limestone laying down on his back. gently the Commander took the mans' helmet off.
