Onward goes the Lahren, up the stairs. But it was a long climb to go.

In came Ray, slowing to a halt from his damn near full blast sprint. Wheezing and coughing a few times he bent over and put his hands on his knees. He needed to work out more. Lifting his head up he scanned the area, trying to find some clue as to where the others had gone. Logically they would have gone up right? towards the violence....lovely.

"Got...to catch...my breath..." he said between his panting, trying his best to catch his breath. Being human wasn't always what it was cracked up to be.

Just as Ray was about to enter the Palace Dome his small device would beep and the flashing would go solid. Not to long after that a box would release it's parachute and fall right in front of him.

It would contain two H&K MP5 sub-machineguns, plus eight magazines.

Thank you Joseph! Even though he posted this one in the wrong thread.

Oh hell yeah, firepower. Tossing the top off the box Ray would remove one MP5 and admire it for a second, pulling the action back just to make sure. It was loaded. Slinging it over one shoulder he picked up the other and held it in his hands, ready to shoot it when needed. One for him and one for his mate whenever he caught up with him. Scooping up the extra magazines he shoved them in various pockets in his tactical vest, having several spare pockets that were enough to fit all of the magazines. He was carrying enough firepower for two...and he was proud. Starting off at a job he began his ascent upward, to where hopefully everyone else was waiting.

Hell if the stairs would stop him...for long anyway.

Throughout the city, the people of Frostschild were coming home. Men, women, and children, knocked out of reality by a magical punch no one saw coming, were being nudged back into existence by the very same force. Eating, sleeping, shopping, working, they had been going about their lives, and to them no time had passed at all. Still, something was not right.

They were changed.

Metal. Jagged. Screaming and shrieking with inhuman voices, they returned skeletons of their former selves, grim visages of decayed bodies animated through the fusion of magic and robotics. They would go about their daily lives, clumsy brutal mockeries of what they once were, but lacking in human comprehension or understanding.

That is, until they saw someone alive, someone unchanged, someone who was still human. They turned on these people, watched them. Approached slowly, cautiously, sizing up the strange being. They would clang their metal teeth together threateningly, stretch out their claw-like fingers, and then...

...they would attack.

God damn, where did that kid go?

Akechi muttered an obscenity to himself. Ray seemed to have charged on ahead. Akechi himself took it at a brisk jog, so he'd reach the others a bit late. He'd be the cavarly, most likely. He didn't trust the ones who went ahead with anything.

No sense with rushing into death right?

Akechi's brisk pace allowed him the luxury of being completely onguard as he pressed forward. He even allowed himself to tap into his psychic powers.

And then there was this rough mental image of where everybody was in relative position to him. It wasn't very clear, Akechi couldn't maintain it for longer then 5 seconds, (already, his head began throbbing), but it was enough. He broke contact.

"Damn, there are more people up there then I thought"

His hand went to his walkie-talkie.

"Brown? There are alot more people up here then I expected, and I don't think everybody's friendly."

...

s**t. His walkie-talkie was ******** broken.

Broken.

Shrapnel. Akechi cursed himself for not noticing it earlier.

He ran on. Oh he ran.

Caesar busted out of the central field's corn at a run, making huge strides through the material. He moved adeptly through it, and was able to gain only a little more speed once on the Palace's upper grounds.

Something was nagging him-- some little voice of sanity saying that, if there were other people here, he had just seen them eliminated by the force of that explosion-- but he kept moving. It hadn't been that big...

He moved for the upper reaches, pockets and bag heavy with the loot largely taken from this place to begin with. He was not concealing his movement, he was at a dead run.

s**t was going down, and he needed a direction before the metal creatures caught up to him.

VRROOOOM, SCREEECH!

The APC slides to a stop in front of the dome, Chen getting out of the vehicle, taking the key with him. Pocketing it, he shuts the door and stares at the Palace Dome in front of him. Looking at it for a second time, thoughts of her came to mind, having him feel ashamed for seeing this place like this, the snow falling from the sky making the scene look pretty sad, especially with the broken windows from an earlier explosion. Though the goggles hid his eyes, behind them, he displayed a worried, sad look. He started to believe now that it was entirely his fault that the goddess was gone and her city changed forever.

Joseph loaded some songs onto a memory chip he found, and put it into his headset. Syncing it with his teams, Low Rider began to play as background noise, hoping it would help keep people off the edge. Quickly chanting his Wraith commandments he took on his wraith form and moved up to Chen. “Dude cheer up; bet your girl back home wouldn’t want to see you like this. Look on the bright side, those metal things haven’t shown up yet. Also hate to say it, but our mission now it to survive. If we come across some people we should try to form solid groups, locking them away puts them as an easy meal!”

With that he turned the safety off his rifle and stood ready to take point.

"I'm going to start scouting. Keep in contact with these.. things," the warrior offered almost disdainfully, referring to the small communicators they had on their wrists and in their ears.

And with that, he was off at an almost unnatural pace. He was more than happy to move out on his own, ahead of the rest. His long strides carried him off into the Dome proper, his loping movements keeping him to the shadows and hopefully out of sight and without making too much sound.

Chen just walks ahead, despite Joseph trying to cheer him up, heading back into the dome. This scene had grown familiar with him now, from the rising steps to the entrance into the audience chamber. Looking at the stairs, he heads up them toward the upper floor, deciding to go check on something.

As he wandered deeper into the dome, he began to hear that telltale scraping of metal on marble, the occasional shriek that came from the robot zombies.

And then, he hit it--the throne room, packed full of zombies that had been worshiping their God-Queen when it all went down. They sat on their knees, looking vacantly towards the empty throne. Hearing the man's footsteps, they turned and looked at him.

The tension, as they say, was palpable.

Oh..

Deitric froze, stock-still. His turquoise eyes took in the sight in front of him, rows of monstrosities on their ******** didn't move, still. He kept his senses open, but he noted the empty throne. Had they been there, even after the life of the Queen had been ended? Was there something else - above, below, or even still sitting on the throne? What kept them there? The thoughts ran through the fighter's head, but he suppressed them for now.

He waited for the zombies to move. Beneath the surface of his frozen form, he let his power cackle to life - if he had to fight, it was going to be a hard one, but it was better to be ready than to hope for the best.

The zombies stood to their feet, almost calmly, except for the occasional shriek that they habitually made. As one, they began to walk towards Dietric, claws extended. Picking up pace, they grew louder and louder, all charging for the doorway he stood in.
