Kael's face sunk even more.

"How many of them, and how many of your friends?"

Careful with his footing, he started forward again one long stride at a time, rather than risking a faster pace slipping him up. Still, for just walking, he was trotting damn fast.

"Sam, I'm going to pick these guys up. If things get choppy," he glanced at the man, sternly, without breaking stride. "I want both of you to break for it. Sam, Brown'll need the back up. Someone still needs to get there, soon if possible."

He kept on moving, hoping it wasn't gonna come to that. Hoping he wasn't about to get an earful. Hoping there weren't going to be too many.

If Kael had been more religious, he would probably have been praying pretty hard right then.

"The less people I have on my mind, the easier time I'll have slipping around these things. Keep yourself safe, and I'll do the same, if it comes to that."

"Just Johnny's left man! Come on, we gotta hurry!" he said, half turning as Kael started forward. He was matching his pace, heading down the street, nodding and waving for Kael to pick up the pace a little.

"Four of them things got him pinned up. Last I saw he had blocked himself in pretty tight... but come on, time's runnin' out!"

He waved again, and started to pick up the pace regardless of if Kael would or not. Snow and ice be damned.

Sam looked from Kael to the stranger. She wanted to get back to Joe but at the same time, she wanted to help.

"Yeah...cowboy...that's not going to happen. And you know it." Joseph had other people with him, she wasn't about to let Kael run off by himself. And Sam followed after both of them. Besides, she'd have a tough time getting through by herself if there were more zombies anyways.

"s**t. Fine. Four shouldn't be a problem. Let's hurry with this."

He picked up his pace to match the other man's, clenching his jaw in frustration every time he began to slip a touch, but for the most part he just ended up going faster and faster.

At this point, he'd probably end up jogging, just letting the guy lead him to his friend and the zombies.

As long as it stays at only four of them...

The man picked up the pace even more, as he lead the way around a corner, sliding off into the wall of the hovel on the corner, having made the turn, somewhat, after he bounced off, skidding as his feet struggled to keep him running and balanced.

So dazed, so stunned, and so business with his pace, he hardly noticed the ZombieBot 5000 there, just 20 feet away from him, and staring right at him. It was a big one, oh, not Athan big, but definately broad at the shoulders and burly in life. It started slowly towards the Leader, stomping towards him while the man went down, having to use one hand to brace against the ground less he fall flat on his face.

Kael followed, only a few steps behind, and...

He stopped, sliding just a touch and blinked.

"Down."

No way the guy was reacting fast enough to that quiet tone, maybe not even if he'd shouted.

Kael bolted.

Digging a toe in he started on a few quick steps forward and then, abandoning balance, simply leaped- a full on tackle lead with his shoulder, meant to take him and his guide off their feet from the side, probably to slide to the side along the ice. A bit forward, but the sideways motion would keep them out of the instant-danger zone.

"SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM-!!!"

He turned over onto his back, scraping the edge of his boot's sole against the ice to clear a spot that he could brace against and started drawing his sword. It was gonna be an awful mess if the thing got on him though, off his feet and with something that big, he wasn't sure he could remove an offending limb or hack past one to it's head before it could get him in a bad spot if it came.

Blink.

...and then action.

She saw Kael dive into their 'guide' and that was her cue. Well, that along with her name being screamed. In an instant, the rifle was at her shoulder and her legs were braced and she was firing. Headshots, of course, to the zombie robot. And since it was so damned big, she wasn't taking chances. And it wouldn't be a single shot fired, but a minimum of three shots, before seeing how it had affected it.

"OOF!"

Kael slammed right into him, and sent the poor guide right back into the wall with a thud that had to have left a fairly nasty bruise. He seemed to be stunned, not really sure what was going on, or where he was as he tried to get his hands and feet back under him.

It was a wobbly, long process that was going to keep him out of the fight this time.

Meanwhile...

A Kael sized Zombie Treat zoomed across his vision. Fast moving, it made the Robot pick up the pace himself, jumping over towards the swordman, hands outstretched as he dived towards him. The Bullets came in, one glancing off his skull, the other hitting the arm in the way, both leaving little gouges, but he seemed to still be coming, even when the third hit, taking out the back side of his skull in a shower of destruction.

It was almost stupidly simple, anime style swordsmanship he referred to, where as he usually tried to keep things more simple and effective when he could keep on his feet.

Of course, he was only on one foot.

Kael shifted around, onto one knee, but his weight was going forward on the foot he had on his cleared spot, and the sword-

The blade was straight upward and with one hand at the top by the crossguard, the second down by the pommel of the full two handed blade size hilt on his equivalent large one handed blade. Over all?

It was a heavy blow straight downward, falling on the back of it's head and or neck as it lunged at him, forcing a faceplant while it was still about three feet beyond where his hands and legs were reaching to- not his full blade's length, but enough to keep him just barely out of it's arm's reach. Hopefully it'd destroy it's head too, making a horrid sound as chips came off the blade of his sword from the contact of steel head against steel, but if it showed more signs of movement he'd continue to hammer on the thing with smaller repetitions of the first blow until there was nothing distinguishable as a head or neck left, or either that thing got a hold of him, or one of it's buddies came charging.

And Sam would fire again. She was a good enough shot not to hit Kael, but she still fired into the body of the robot zombie, for another three shots. But she couldn't do anything about the bits of shrapnel.

SMASH! The blade cracked down on the skull. The head was giving way, not completely demolished. It's hands twitched, reaching out towards Kael, crawling towards him.

A shot, and another smash, the rapid swings were beginning the tell as the robot zombie slowed down, making only 6 more inches, almost within reach.

And the Leader had his sabre out, cracking along with Kael. The blade wasn't as heavy, but he swung it just as fast, together the thing shuddered and died. pumped full of holes by Sam, with metal flakes showered over everyone nearby from the beating it took, but it was dead.

His sabre still out, and with one bad notch in it, apparently from beating on metal creatures, the leader got his feet, letting out a sigh as he started running again.

"Come on, 3 more blocks!" he called out to Kael and Sam, "Two down and one over!"

"Right," Kael sighed, shaking his head and gritting his teeth, rising quickly and catching a breath. He glanced back behind Sam to check and make sure there were no zombies coming up from her direction. That seemed all clear, so-

He took off after the guy, this time keeping his sword unsheathed. He didn't quite get to full sprint, but this way he wouldn't feel so likely to fall on his face, nor would he be needing to draw the thing if something else tried to get in on top of him.

Just need to finish this... better get at least a goddamn 'thank you' when ey're out. ******** zombie city, didn't want to do this all a second time.

Sam checked as well, making sure there were no zombies behind her before she ran to catch up with Kael and their intrepid guide.

"You owe me again, cowboy." Sam shouted as she caught up. She was trying to keep it lighthearted or she'd completely freak. Because she had the worse feeling that these zombies were somehow the citizen's reincarnated. They hadn't been doing anything unordinary until they'd been spotted.

There was a tinny ring through the air as they approached the next corner to take. Thier intrepid leader slowed down to take the corner, as the tinny ringing continued, puncutated by regular "Thumps".

It seemed to be coming closer again, from behind the direction that the leader was turning. The area here was quite slick, the snow having been trampled down and hard packed into a slick ice patch.

"Almost there!"

With the sound rising and the urging on, Kael started picking up the pace, nearing a run himself when he started slipping.

"-nnghf. Sh..."

He fell on a hand and his a**, pushing around and up to his feet again.

"Yeah, hold off on the shopping until after the zombies are gone."

Wait. What was that?

Apparently Kael had figured it out at some point. After all, it had been a bit of time with each of them now. Infact, it was probably just pretty sad it had taken him so long as it had.

He started to pick up the speed again, rapid, long steps, slamming his heel in through the layer of ice atop the snow to get a bit of grip. Kael wasn't moving as fast as if he'd just risked slipping, but he hated falling over on ice. Especially when he had a still mostly-sharp thing in one hand.
