She turned to Joe,"That's not a bad idea, there's no way the cops would be able to look into it." She pondered some more and thought about Charles' question. "I don't even know where the rifle is, my father's the only one who knows where it is," she scowled. "And William's right, it'd be too loud."

"You guys never let me have fun anymore." He plopped himself onto a barrel as the last of the costomers left. "I'll drop them off in the river up by... well you know where." He still disliked to talk about what had happened on that river spot or anywhere near it since what had happened there a month ago. "So when do we need some more rum, the guy wants to do things quicker this time. the cops are starting to close in on him, which would be a problem for us, both financily and legally."

"The river's no good, it's not very deep, the bay is just down the street here," Doris told Charles. She looked at the two unconscious men laying on the ground. "I hope they don't stain the ground," she said as she noticed one of them was bleeding through their nose. She cringed, she never liked the sight of blood. "We should hurry up and pick this up, before my father sees this, he'd think I wasn't ready for this place," she nervously played with her long pearl necklace.

"Alright, I'll drop them off there on my way to my blind date." He slapped his head as he spoke, obviously annoyed over the date. "That last girl I got paired up with was a freakin' golddigger. Remind me to never let your father get me a blind date again doris. He has poor taste in women my age." He grabbed the man that was bleeding and carried him upstairs and deposited him in the back with the other man. He walked back down a little later. "And you are never setting me up either joe. The girl you paired me with was a freakin' cop! A cop, you b*****d!"

Joe just smiled, and lit another smoke. "Doris, you want a drag? Anyway, I'm saving the best for myself." He winked at Doris and laughed a little, then stood, "You need some help with those bodies, Charles? If it's to make Doris's pops happy, I suppose I can pull one of them out of here." He looked to Doris, "Unless you'd rather me here, sweat heart."

"I'll take that drag," Doris said, she took a satisfying drag on the offered cigarette and blew out smoke and handed the cigarette back to Joe. She smiled when he winked at her, she liked getting attention from men. "Oh, whatever you want to do is fine," she told Joe when he offered to stay with her. "I have to clean up anyways and get the place ready for tomorrow," she told Joe while she started picking up trash and empty glasses. She felt Joe's eyes burning right through her, which made her nervous; to be flirted with is one thing, to be stared at is another.

Joe nodded, and stood up as straight as he ever did, "All right, kid, let's get these bodies disposed off." He walked up to get to the car. "You drive, and I'll tell you where we're heading. I've heard of a nice place to set the bodies on their final voyage." He went with Charles to the vehicle.

"ya ya, let's just hope this stinkin' jalopy will get me to my date on time." He opened the driver side door and slid inside, turning the keys as soon as he was settled. "Let's get a move on already." The engine rumbled to life as he looked at the two idiots in the back. "Heh, good thing I tied them up, they won't be much of a problem if they wake up." He laughed slightly before opening the other door for joe.

Joe got in. "You have something to wack 'em with? Something nice and heavy like a steal pipe? It's a lot quieter and what not. Oh, turn here." He lead Charles to a point in a mostly abandoned portion of the bay. "Here will do." He helped get one of the men out, "Quit struggling. You're just making this more annoying than it has to be." He took out the tire iron and tossed it to Charles. "You can do it. I hate this part." Joe turned around.

((I love you guys, if you were my neighbors, I'd so give you guys cotton candy... XD ))

Doris began sweeping, she stifled a yawn as she stood in the middle of the room. She was too sleepy to finish cleaning the bar, so she left the basement, locking the door behind her. When she opened the door to her house, her mother was sitting in the living room, sleeping. She attempted to sneak in past her, but her mom is a light sleeper.

"Where have you been?" Her mother asked.

Doris turned around. "Working," she said.

"I bet you were, or were you getting neck in some dingy hotel room?" Her mother stood up and walked over to her, her shrill voice just above a whisper. This accusation made Doris flushed.

"No mother, I wasn't getting neck, I was really working," she said, not bothering to keep her voice down. She turned on her heel and went upstairs to her room and slammed the door. Maybe I'm getting too old to be living at home Doris thought. Who would I live with? She pondered as she changed into her pajamas and slipped into her silk sheets.

"Ya ya." Charles grabbed the tire iron and swung it by the man's head, though missed intentionaly. "I just relized were I've seen you and your buddy before. Your wanted for a bank robbery from two days ago. Heres an idea, you don't tell about the bar and we don't blab on you. deal?" He had to suppress a laugh at how fast the man was shaking his head yes. "Alright then." He untied him and let him and his buddy go on their way. "Hey joe, I can't believe you were hitting on daisy earlier. Her pop will probably kick your a** if he ever finds out." He laughed a little before hopping into the car and hanging out the window a little to see him better. " I'm nearly late for my date and unless you can find a date in a few seconds, your walking."

His eyebrow raised a little, watching the two men run away. He tried to talk as he watched them, but nothing came out for a bit. "You...they're getting away?" His head dropped, "As much as I hate to wack a guy, that's going to definitely end up poorly. Hit the road for your date, kid. I've some thinking to do anyway." He waved dismissively, yawning. "They always come back, Charles," he shouted. "When a rat gets in a kitchen and you let it out, it'll be back with friends." He shook his head and continued his long journey.

"Alright, your choice." Charles drove off toward a local restaurant for his blind date, never noticing the truck that had a runner from a rival bar drive behind him. As he neared the restaurant, the car behind him slammed into him sending him forward. "What the hell!?" He swerved around and somehow he stopped in a parking spot. "Ooook, that was lucky." He walked out the door and entered the restaurant as the man who had slammed him stopped in a restaurant for another chance to hit him.

The walk was a long one, but it gave Joe time to think. He enjoyed the moments, lazily lulling along the side of pavement as cars drove past. Some honked. Others yelled at him that he shouldn't be out in the district so late. When he finally came to the city proper, he stayed to the sidewalks. The stars above had some capability to penetrate the lights that brought San Diego alive, and he paid them some heed, wondering what it was they had in store for him next.

He laughed and shook off the idea, having never really been big into the stars. His parents weren't either, but every now and then the stories would intrigue him. Finally arriving at his small apartment, he looked up once more as if to bid the stars farewell, and went to sleep, his overly long legs resting on the slab of wood at the foot of his bed. Tomorrow would be another interesting day, more or less. He wished for less as he drifted off. Exciting days were such a bother.

Charles walked to the seater, which was an old man with a pair of oval spectacles wrapped around a chain hanging around his neck. "I'm looking for a miss evit." "Right this way sir." The man led him to an empty table that had a card on it. "Miss evit isn't here yet but she already reserved the table, so you may as well wait." "Great." He sat down and waited for a waiter to come by.

After several minutes a woman wearing boyish clothes walked to his table and sat down. "Your charles?" "Ya, you evit." "Of course silly." Finally, someone who isn't a cop or freak "So what do you do for a living evit?" "Well don't tell anyone this but I'm a rumrunner." She stared at him as charles dashed away as soon as he heard that. Damn it, damn it, damn it! Can't I ever get a break." He dashed out the restaurant and hopped inside his car. He drove back and started down the rode quickly, making the runner from earlier's job much easier. The man drove behind him and at a corner rammed evon right into a wall, making both cars catch on fire.

Several minutes later an ambulance and looks in the wreckage and saw only charles was alive, if barely. The lifted him out and quickly put him in the anbulance and drove off toward the hospital.
