I'll also be glad to help anyone with English (it'll be American English) that wants/needs help. Feel free to PM me about it.

English is my second language, as well. smile
I think English really isn't that difficult to learn. Usually, the main problems people have with English are with the tenses. But those aren't that bad either; you just have to make a bit of an effort...
English grammar is quite easy, compared to grammar of many other languages.

Usually, the main problems people have with English are with the tenses.
Speaking of which, Finnish has no future tense. If necessary, you can get around that by using the verb tulla, meaning "come":
"Niin tulee tapahtumaan."
"That will come to pass."
But the idea of a grammatical convention to indicate future events used to confuse me a little when I first began to learn English. (Incidentally, our word for "future" is tulevaisuus, quite literally "that which is coming".)

I can help with English! ^^ It is my first language... And I'm actually ashamed of that. domokun I wish I grew up with a foreign language like most the people here. razz Lol. At least when I'm older and move somewhere else I can say I grew up with a foreign language(to them). biggrin That'll be fun. The thought encourages me to learn more. whee

Whee I'm babbling... xd Oh well I'll submit 'cause...

...

I'm babbling again... sweatdrop *bad habbit*

Arabic has no present tense. You can, however, use future tense as present tense.
It's the other way around in our language. "Mies astuu ovesta" could mean both "a man steps through the door" or "a man will step through the door": there's no way of knowing, apart from the context.
Quote:
I mean, what does the fact some languages don't have a future or a present tense mean?
An emphasis on either the status quo remaining the same in perpetuity or the futility of planning far ahead, perhaps.
Quote:
Languages have lots of sub-text in them, and they say much about the people who speak them.
The everyday imagery that native speakers take for granted occasionally fascinates me. For example, the Finnish word for "horizon" is taivaanranta, meaning "heaven's shore", which ties in with the ancient cosmology. Yet hardly ever does anyone even pause to think about its etymology.
