Alright! I'm finally sticking my nose to the grindstone (who ever came up with such a saying?) and throwing down some lines on your friend. I'm sorry it's [still] taking so long, but as you know, graphite portraits are a lot of work! And I don't want to give you a piece of trash, so I've been looking for inspiration... plus today I'm trying to put off cleaning the basement >.<

Oh I know it! Hair is so... grr!!! That's what I'm stalled on. I think it looks quite nice.
Your friend is a guy, right? I know, that's so rude! But I just wondered because of the pretty features. Great eyes and lips!
I'll have it done by tonight, I think. I just need to darken things in - it's very low contrast atm.

Well you have cute friends ^^ I'm so glad you like it. It's hard to capture the essence of someone you don't know, so I was hoping you'd recognize it. Do you draw everything freehand or do you use guidelines? I use guidelines/reference points. I'm a horrible cheater.

Well you caught him very well, it looks so much like him. Yes I also cheat, I just measure everything. Otherwise I can't get it even close to looking like the picture. I used to use a grid, but I find I get better accuracy without. And Ive finished yours. I think it turned out rather grainy, but I hope you like it =)

Oh my gosh... that is amazing! I feel so bad - mine doesn't look half as good as yours crying Mine is not nearly as smooth. I'm so sorry. I feel indebted to you, still. j/c, what do you use to blend?

No way, yours is a much better quality than mine. I use tortillions and tissues to blend. Tortillions are very easy to make and quite useful.

I used a tortillion, too, but maybe I should have used tissues as well. It gives things a much smoother appearance. My tissues in my room are mentholated + lotion, so I figured that would not be so good :p
