i have seen the armies fight together... im referring to something more like the witch hunter/daemon hunter codex that allows you to take them as an ally in another imperial army

I personally run a Codex Space Marine army with Inquistorial allies, primarily a squad of Seraphim, a Canoness, a WH Inquisitor and a DH Inquisitor (sometimes with or without Henchmen with Inquisitor separately).

As for actually fighting with allies I've generally only played with other Space Marine or Inquisitorial (mainly Sisters of Battle) armies. Which is okay as I know their strengths and weaknesses as well as I know my own.

As far as what I want from my allied players is someone who knows how to fit as much into their army as possible, I really hate fighting alongside someone who's spent all their points on some small heavily upgraded units, which are quickly ripped apart by mass Lasgun or Shoota fire.

Just thought I'd add that I really want to ally with a swarm army player and see how much destruction we can manage, cause that's just something Space Marines can't do, I'm struggling to fit 80 Marines into 2000 Pts (Bike Infantry included).

I just can't help thinking that the average Imperial Guardsman is only a quarter of the cost of a Space Marine, plus IG can have over 60 models as a single Troops choice, whilst the best I can ever have is 10.

I say that a guard and marine army on the offensive is just as if not more powerful than it would be if one holds the line while the other attacks.

Guard squads providing numbers and support to more elite marine squads to tie up and detroy an enemy.

I haven't tried it, yet, but I really like the idea of using Blood Angels and Black Templars together. Death Company and Assault Marines from the Blood Angles spearheading objectives and then flying in full Black Templar Tactical squads, with all the Initiates and Neophytes using bolters and Devastator Squads to help with enemy armor and then maybe a few Baal Preds with Assault Cannons and some Annihilator Preds for the enemy armor so that I can constantly move in to support the Assault Marines and Death Company. Just the idea I'm playing with for my next Apoc game.
