"Hey..so..I guess you probably have pretty good hearing, right? Or, at least, good enough to hear that stupid snake over there talk. Don't worry about it..I think he likes getting punched in the face." Serena laughed lightly and set the ball down, just as before. Wouldn't she love to see Shisei, all bruised up from annoying people to the last straw.
"Alright..let's see if you can get this one.." She stepped back and gave the ball a good push with the side of her foot. The Raiken wasn't even thinking about a strategy anymore..it took up too much time. Xyn was probably smart enough to already know what she would probably do. The ball sped a little bit towards the right of the middle. Who knows? Maybe Xyn would miss it. Maybe he wouldn't be paying attention.

Kids were amusing by nature, apparently. Shinichi grunted and replied, a smirk on his face, "Alright, from now on, you'll be known as Cool Brassa-kun." The Kage scratched the spelling for his name on the dirt, using the kanji for 'awesome' and 'amazing' to write out the kid's name. He finished with an arrow pointing to the boy and chuckled listening as Cool Brassa-kun excitedly described the battle wounds he and his gang concurred. It was interesting to hear that the youth concentrated more on Fay's emotional damage than on the frightening wounds Sevvi and he had. To the throat! A little deeper or higher and his head would have flown off. Shinichi grimaced, but was glad that the incident didn't affect Cool Brassa-kun too badly. He knew some who were still in shock and mourning for the dead. The Kage wondered if the boy lost anybody he knew, but decided not to bring that topic up on this festival day. He scratched his head at the boy's slang, secretly wondering what a naff was. But all that confusion dissipated once the kid had the galls to call him broody. A cross look appeared on Shinichi's brow at the thought of being caught so emotional. He had behaved unprofessionally. Bad Shinichi. "I'm fine from the sidelines," he said, gathering up his shinobi dignity, "Besides, people hardly want to go up against Maya. No one wants their a** kicked by Shimagakure's Kage. Unless... you want to be my partner, Cool Brassa-kun? Let me tell you, you'd be better off standing behind me when I kick that ball." Actually, he quite sucked at taijutsu, but no one here needed to know that. He was better than them all, even Maya, and that's what counted.
"Aah!" Orika yelped as the ball ricocheted off the ground and still speeding like an arrow, went right for her head. She dived, oh yeah, but as away from the charging projectile as possible. "Woah, Baki! You're really good at this! Those massive lion muscles don't seem to hurt either." Orika picked up the ball, almost dropping it when she felt the heat on the covering. She'd have to work just to stay conscious when going up against a lion! "Oh, yeah, well, I've got something for you too, Baki," she taunted as she hugged the ball and dropped it in front of the goal. Once Baki got into position for her to kick the ball past him, she ran up to the orb and pile-drived the thing to the left, with a slight curve at the end so the ball would actually land in the center of the goal. It was something she'd learned from watching the fisherman play every year. Yeah, go Lobsters!

Xyn was a little taken back by Serena's response. She was congratulating him? Didn't she want to win? It was at this point that the dark-haired boy started to wonder if he was taking all this too seriously. It wasn't as though he understood the purpose of 'fun', but he could at least stop focusing so much on the game, or perhaps the outcome. That was partially the reason he preferred to play such a game against someone he knew, wasn't it? Even though Xyn hadn't thought about it before, it was starting to make sense. Did that mean Serena was his... friend? He'd never actually given thought to it, and he was starting to think he should stop thinking about it all together. He didn't need any more distractions besides...
Xyn flinched at the mention of a conversation. He'd actually been trying to drown out everything from Maya's direction with other thoughts. He'd never be able to concentrate otherwise.
"... he is of no importance to me." A low tone escaped his throat, his lips not really moving except to pronounce the syllables properly, but more like a ventriloquist. Readying himself somewhat, Xyn made a quick glance at Serena's eyes... he was starting to understand she was just as bad at these mind games as he was. That was probably the only thing he could try to take advantage of. Unfortunately, by the time he made an effort to go at the ball, it still went passed him. He stumbled over his own feet a bit before quickly recovering.
"You... are pretty good at this..." Xyn tried an effort at encouragement, not wanting Serena to think he had any ill feelings toward her simply because she was winning.

Well, he had one goal. At the very least he was able to get that passed Serena. Now it wouldn't look so bad if he lost. Still, the urge to score another goal scratched itself into the back of his mind. Xyn tried to think of the simplest way he could kick the ball passed the Raiken. They were suppose to use mind games so... he'd have to make her believe something that wasn't true... but how was he supposed to do something like that? The thought of such a thing baffled him. As far as he knew, his clan knew nothing of such tactics... but if that was the best way to win...
Xyn thought about the idea of looking left and going right, but how would he know where he was kicking if he was looking in the opposite direction? All this was just too confusing for the boy. In the end, he simply closed his eye again and kicked the ball.

The ball dashed towards the boy’s legs like a mad bull. It was too low to grapple with the fingers. The snake could probably get out of the way in time, but what would that accomplish? Then it would be guaranteed to get inside the goal. He dodged her first kick because that type of power was not ready, but if the Orochi boy wanted to keep up he had to at least deflect its course. Shisei was still sure he could come back. His frame had made two goals on her already, something most of the others probably could not do. That and his mind were beginning to learn more and more of the situation. Soon he’d be able to formulate a plan to counterattack this alliance of the crow and lioness. Using his leg, Shisei would try force with force. He may get injured out of it, but a limb sacrifice to stop it from the goal would be worth it. His leg collided with the ball, but the sphere had acceleration of a hundred times more than his one foot could muster. The globe of fun once again attacked his ankle, smashing through like a rugby player going for the win. This caused the serpent to fall face first and the ball to roll into the goal.

Brassa gave a big small and haughty laugh. He had a title? He was legitimately ‘cool’ from then on. “Yes sir Kage-sama. I will humbly receive the title of ‘cool’. Indeed I will!” freckles stated with excitement. The boy couldn’t wait to tell Sevvi this. It’d get him jealous immediately. The twins and Fay would be amazed. Even Shisei might give a nod of appreciation to it. Or be jealous like Sevvi probably would. The boy’s lips became a grin just thinking of that. Of course he’d have to be careful to not let the title go to his head. Part of having the title of cool was not to have an ego. He’d have to teach that to his serpentine friend so he wouldn’t become a naff. His thoughts became cut short when the Kage had challenged him. “Noo sir! I’ll pass on your offer. I think I shall. Shisei’s brill and he’s being knocked around more than the football by Maya. I’d have to be barmy to go up against you Kage-sama. No doubt, I’d be. Although after Maya, maybe Shisei and you can go a round. He’d probably enjoy it.” The taupe eyes turned back on the field to see the snake child slowly returning from a vertical position. It also seemed that another girl with dark hair and a black jacket, and a boy in a shawl of darkness. “Shisei-kun are you some type of masochist? All these people seem to want to box ya all around the field and you’re edging them on.” the dotted faced boy said with a smile. That would probably the type of comment to fire up Shisei and get him into facing the Tategami warrior. That it’d probably be funny how to respond to that.
Meanwhile Shisei was slowly returning to his feet. Fate would have it that the ball would try and shatter the same ankle that Orika’s trap had tried to take a snack out of earlier. “Idiot…” the snake thought about freckles who seemed to be trying to make him the center of a joke. Well he wasn’t what was getting under his skin. Maya was beginning to irk him. Not due to the physical punishment, but due to the silent shield she would put forth when his mind was getting to the truth. Most would continue to banter trying to get the upper hand and then reveal more information. The woman before the serpent though used that unspoken barrier to protect herself. Yet even silence has its own answers. Shisei was sure he was getting closer to the truth. The lioness did have some bond with the little crow. While he lay face down in the grass his mind was contemplating other tactics to use. He did not think that the Raiken girl would aid him. “Serena… you’ve lured him to me…”. The shinobi in training slowly began to get up answering those around him. First Mr. Sunshine freckles. “Masochist? No. It’s just that when you work to become the best you get speed bumps like those two in the peanut gallery at the side.” the snake began, referring to mono eye and sly smile. His eyes then turned to the other team. “Serena… you just like sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong.” he began returning to a vertical basis. His back turned to away from the team passing the ball back and forth between his legs. He did it in pattern of a figure eight just to confuse the lioness. Really this was not the best he could have done. His aim now was the male on the other team. “No importance? A fair assessment… I just realized something. You and Maya-sempai are close, but you were not her partner in the first competition or in this one. Why not Xyn? Maya-sempai is important to me, but Maya-sempai finds you important. Why is Xyn important to you Maya? Also just how important is Maya-sempai to you, Xyn?” with the last sentence directed at both, he once again kicked the ball. This one was going at a curve, to fly over her head and hopefully get a peaceful touchdown in the goal.

Maya saw through Shisei's little plot easily, and snarled at him, the sound ripping from her chest, her glare dangerous. She left his question unanswered, though she was so annoyed with his constant badgering she stalked right towards him instead of blocking the ball - consequently, it hit the goal easily, though Maya seemed to pay it no mind. She walked until she stood a few inches away from Shisei, a low threat on her voice. "Remember you sleep in my territory tonight, Orochi," she spat, sneering at him and holding her last ball between her hands. She knew she'd make the goal, Shisei had done nothing to prevent any of her hits. Of course, the same could be said of her, but she had managed to block one. That was enough to put her over him, though he had shaken her more times than she had managed to get into his head. Maya shrugged to herself at that thought; she had gone into this knowing that she was no match for the intellectual, but it was still slightly irritating to have been right about it.

Maya didn't even bother looking at Shisei as she spat her last words at him. This was her last ball, and all she had to do was tolerate him a couple more minutes.
"You'll be lucky if I don't skin you and make a new belt outta you," she said almost casually, as if she skinned live humans everyday. She knew Shinichi would hear her, and hopefully he wouldn't take her seriously - though the thought was almost too tempting for Maya. She smirked and threw a massive amount of power behind her last kick. The ball lurched forward, almost in slow motion, though it blazed towards the net like lightning. Maya growled as she watched the motion, almost smiling at the grace of the spinning ball just zooming towards the snake. She hadn't even aimed it that well, but it was heading, once more, for his face. She winced slightly, but didn't give in. If he didn't dodge, he was an idiot for taking that kind of pain. Either way, she would score - of that she was confident.

Baki pricked his ears up quickly, not quite understanding the words Orika was saying, though obviously he was apt to not pay attention anyway. What he did understand though was that there was a ball whizzing towards him, and that he definitely had to block it or Orika would score. He leapt forward, dropping his body to the ground and feeling it hit against his flanks, but it didn't enter the net. Baki growled happily, shaking his thick mane and giving Orika a catty grin. 'Not this time,' he thought to himself, and turned to look at Maya, who had kicked the ball with enough power to sever that golden-eyed kid's head from his body. Now that would be interesting to see, the lion decided, since he himself had only severed rabbit head and that was because he had been hungry and wanted a quick meal. What would they do with the snake if he lost his head? Baki let out a low rumble of amusement at the thought, then turned back towards Orika.

Baki turned sideways, his left forepaw right next to his next ball. Sniffing at it carefully, he eyed Orika and the net, and lowering the front end of his body a few inches, he lifted his right paw and, with a mighty SMACK!, launched the round plaything towards the net again. He watched it go, nearly as fast as Maya, though probably with a little less power than the crazy girl. Baki smiled internally; Maya was definitely a little powerhouse. It seemed she had gained more from their wrestling than he had...he was still moderately lazy when it came down to it, though soon he would have to train hard since a human shinobi was only as strong as his or her partner, and Baki had been slacking slightly. However, what Maya had in power, Baki balanced in being able to sense bad intentions from people ... for some reason, the girl had no ability to tell that until it was damn near obvious...

“Score. As expected. It threw her off. Maya does…!” the youth’s words were cut off when he was face to face with a glaring Tategami. His ears were waiting for some type of reaction from Xyn that he did not notice her approach. All he knew was that the goal had scored. She growled out to the serpentine child about his sleeping accommodations and whose territory it was. Her entire persona now was intimidating, the snake child was not afraid to admit. His eyes grew slightly wider as the girl spoke with spiteful intentions and he took a step back to keep some distance. Shisei felt that he would be getting less sleep on the grounds because of this last interaction.
As they switched positions the snake listened to her threat as to skin him alive. He was not too sure how to take it. He doubts that she would disobey Ero-sensei’s orders. Yet at the same time he had no conscience of disobedience in Shima if it proved fruitful in his part. If skinning him till he was a walking pink sack of flesh would bring her joy, she just may risk the punishment. This thought would cloud his mind in this round. Cause even if she didn’t do it, whose not to say her protective lion would not do the job. It’s not like anyone could blame a hungry animal. “Is that what she’s thinking?” the boy thought with a shiver. “Is that something you want to say to a lesser student that you’ve taken under your paw?” Shisei replied. He wasn’t going to push it any further. He had figured out enough for now. The ball once again came at an alarming speed. This time the snake would not stick out any limbs to get it. His nose and ankle was damaged. If he wanted to continue with the competition then he had to calculate his risks better. The ball seared into the net once again threatening to take down the entire structure. The serpent youth looked at the ball where it fell and then turned back to his overseer. “Always impressive. Aren’t you Maya-sempai.”

Shisei took the ball and walked back into the position where he would do his last kick. Maya was becoming more enraged as time progressed. Shisei was used to dealing with a range of different emotions, but the two he knew the least to handle were blinding anger and sorrow. Anger could be quelled with force, but the serpent youth was greatly outmatched in force when it came to Maya. The topic of their relations would be at an end. The time to find a counterattack against it was the next step, but the lioness did not need to know that. For now the snake would ask other questions. Some that may diverge from the initial topic and quell her anger. He kicked the ball up and balanced it on his knee keeping one leg stiffly on the ground. His arms folded behind his back the snake child breathed another question. “Tell me Maya-sempai, have you been impressed with me so far?” he hit the ball with his knee up into the air and switched with the other knee holding the ball and the previous keeping his balance. “Also, why haven’t you allowed Karite into your clan? Doesn’t he meet your requirements as yet? If your waiting for him with team work, he works well with Orika. As for me, where we are now is as far as either of them will get. Shouldn’t he be eligible then?”. Shisei wasn’t too sure why he asked the last question. Perhaps something about the clan would ease her anger and the grass hair boy was the best, and only subject he knew of Tategami. Bringing up the bubble head or the older snake may just make Maya erupt. After his last question he allowed the ball off of his knee and kicked it on the floor. It was a grounder meant to go just past her left. Hopefully without much elevation it would be harder for her to grapple.

Maya let her emotions fall, save for the dramatically vicious smile on her face. She left Shisei's question unanswered - what did he need to know anything for? Xyn was her business....sort of. Well ok fine not really, but Maya shrugged it off, shivering and watching Shisei's movements. She smirked - he was not quick enough. With a quick movement, she twisted her body so that the ball deflected off her shoulder and away from the net, a malicious expression falling across her features and she straightened out and stared at Shisei. "Better luck next time, Shisei," she said quietly, rolling her shoulders and stretching, looking over where Baki was playing and smiling ever so slightly, whistling in a specific way so that he knew she was calling for him, encouraging him. She loved the lion more than her own life, and she was pleased to see him having fun with Orika.

What now...
Shisei seemed to be unable to mind his own business. His comment had not been directed toward the boy, but now Shisei was wagging his forked tongue at him. Always running his mouth, Xyn's muscles tensed at the thought of simply ripping out that tongue. There wasn't anyone he had ever met with such a foul mouth, and to talk to Maya and him in such a disrespectful manor. Xyn tried taking in a breath to try and restrain himself, but opening his own mouth somehow had the opposite affect. He would have turned his head and spoken out right then if he hadn't noticed the blood running from his clenched fist once he raised it. They were slow, small drops, but opening his hand and seeing the would was enough of a distraction to calm him. What was... this anger...?
"... you ask so many questions, but you offer nothing in return. If you want to know so much about me, answer the same question of yourself first..." Xyn closed his eyes as the damaged nerves finally weeded themselves through the tightened muscles masking the pain. Shisei said Maya was important to him?
"Answer me first. Are you truly that threatened by me? You seem to want to know so much about me, but only in relation to Maya." Xyn started to turn his head away, wanting to focus back on his game with Serena.
"Is she so important that you won't allow anyone else to get close to her? That..." Xyn stopped himself, fully turning his back to Shisei.
That I can't allow. You can't have her...
Munin stumbled a bit in his pattern. This boy didn't seem to be falling for the usual tricks. No matter, the raven was just starting. He lowered his head submissively, letting out several "wah" like calls to keep the boy's attention. He'd get something from this boy even if he had to fly up and steal it from him. He still didn't know what the boy had, there wasn't any smell of food anywhere in the area, but all humans had something to offer. Munin tried to make a slight step to the left, tilting his head in an effort to gauge the boy's response, but he made too small a stride and fell on his side, though quickly recovering.

Munin was having a more difficult time trying to win over this human than he imagined. It was only now that he remembered this creature was probably going through the same training as Xyn. The raven had a better grasp of how to deal with females, but if this male had received some type of special training...
"Wak, wak-wak." Keeping his voice high, or 'cute' as he had learned trying to understand the humans speak, Munin knelt closer to symbolize curiosity. He'd have to figure out what this human had, if anything, before he continued. If all else failed, maybe he could snatch whatever it was before anyone could notice.
