Bhaskar nodded and padded over to stand next to Muroki. "Hey there, I'm Bhaskar.. You're Muroki, right?" He looked up as the earth shivered more, then back at the cub. Can't seem upset by this, not to the cub. "Where you headed?" Maybe he could just.. talk Muroki into turning back and hanging around the lionesses.. Bhaskar wanted them all together. Something here was majorly wrong. The earth itself was.. moving!

Laini heard words of her crimsom friend but didn't answer. She couldn't. Her full attention was in the cub that so eagerly wanted to come out and see the light. She had noticed others as well but didn't react much to them. Well, she had important mission to do. Though inside of her mind, she was a bit embarrased. To give birth in such publicy, in front of strangers. She would rather had the birth in more private environment. Earth trembled more harder, it's roaring sound filling her ears but right now grey lioness didn't noticed it much through the pain she had.

A low snarl came from the usually pleasant lioness at the next pain. Sharing her den site with Laini alone had been fine, but now with the earthshaking and everything; her patience was wearing bit thin - as was one of the cubs. Still, she tried to quieten her growls.

Focus through the pain. She dug her claws back into the sandy ground and tried to calm her mind by concentrating on its quaking. What a day and place to give birth in...

*

"I was going to go hunt crocodiles." -before the ground started shaking this much. The cub sat down and looked at all the other lions with a golden gaze that didn't suit one so young. He'd ask one of his elders about the shaking soon..and running off held less appeal than it had a few moments ago.

Raikha, is it possible to get a response from Bhaskar to Kit, from when Kit addressed him?
I'm running out of things for my babies to say to each other. xD

((Oh! Sorry.. I didn't notice he had spoken to Bhaskar! sweatdrop sweatdrop ))

Bhaskar lowered as the shaking grew stronger under hid feet, keeping his balance. He turned his head to Kitwana after another nervous glance from Muroki to the lionesses. "Hmm? Oh.. Hello there.. did you call to me?" he shifted his body around, pulling Muroki to his side with a paw. He lowered his head to speak to the cub "Sorry to do that, Muro, but I think you should stick with me.." raising his head, he kept speaking louder, so Kitwana could hear as well "..this trembling is odd.. the gods must telling us something." His tail, held straight out, wavered as he kept his balance.

As Kirjava had gotten closer to the ground, she was shaken off balance by the ground. It was moving! Pressing her stomach close to the ground, crimson eyes glanced at the group of lions up ahead. Apparently they were feeling it too. What was happening?! Never having been through an earthquake before, she was a little frighten. "What's happening?"

Oh why! Why they didn't just come? Peacefully, without pain? Why she did have to bear this all? Laini wasn't as strong as Rahima. She couldn't hide her pain. She couldn't keep her mouth shut. She just let it out. In kinda way, it helped her to bear the heating pain inside her. "Please... Someone... Make it STOP!!!" She wasn't sure that she wanted to stop. The birth? The earthquake? Maybe them both.

((Sorry Naita, I skipped over you but I wanted to do this announcement.... Okay, now, everyone. I will give you the permission to skip my turn, at least if no one will directly contact to Laini (which I doubt)... I find it hard to figure out anything new and interesting to my posts. So, go ahead. smile ))

Derisive chuckle escaping his throat at both the adolescent's and Sethunya's words, he addressed the orange one first, calm remaining despite the shaking of the earth, and of Masego, who seemed intent to burrow into Kit to escape the shuddering of an angry earth.
"Such mental prowess," he uttered under his breath, before nodding to Bhaskar.
"How come your kin to birth in such untouched earth, child?"

The presence of so many rocks about the area ready to hold cubs alerted his sensibilities, shaken off with some effort.
"Some god is awakening," came his reply to the orange adolescent's words.

Beside him, Sethunya did something truly rare- agreed with the ragged male.
"So it would seem," she uttered, before her ears perked to the call of the birthing Laini.
Rumbling below, rumbling above. So great things came to be, she mused, before slinking forward, caring little for this supposed little 'sentinel' who stood guard.
She paused on the entrance, knowing full well the feelings of birth and the wishes therein. Halting in her approach, she simply watched as the earth slid about the group of lions there assembled.

A cub caught Kitwana's eye, small, afraid, helpless, and to his chagrin, the rangy male found himself padding with large steps across the tremoring ground to meet her.
And still the earth continued to be at odds with itself, shaking, slipping, sliding beneath him.
Head bowed low, that harsh voice came out surprisingly low, unnaturally soft.
"Hush, child. Close your eyes. It is but the lullaby of the earth, it rocks you to sleep."
Such was said below the volume of common hearing, for Kitwana would have none know these words, save the tiny child.
None must know.

The earth still shook, much to Kirjava's distress. Crimson eyes closed and ears pressed tightly against her small head. She was afriad, and she wasn't ashamed to admit it. While she didn't see the lion come in her direction away from the small group, she did hear his hushed voice. As the words flowed to her and gently touched her mind, she peeked her eyes open. Lifting her head up, she saw him before her. A small graced her maw, thankful for his kind words.

Thinking about it, even though the earth was at odds with itself, the shaking movements weren't as jagged as they appeared before. Perhaps, the earth was singing a lullaby.

Bhaskar blinked "Kin? Oh, no, they are not kin.. " he glanced towards the lionesses and shook his head. It grew, the shaking. He frowned at the ground as a paw slipped a little in the dirt.

Muroki looked up at Bhaskar and pressed his small body into the orange fur for support, comfort. A god? Was that what was causing the ground to shake? What was a god?! His basic logic told him that play-hunting crocodiles; sand lizards, in reality; was off.

Sethunya rolling her eyes at him, Kitwana gave the cub a quick smile in response for her own, before turning to eye Bhaskar.
Not kin? One wondered why he stirred so close to their birthing, were they not related.
Still, he was not by nature prying, and simply gave the adolescent and his little cub friend, staying close to the tiny femme, the shaking earth unnerving even him slightly.

"Anger and awakenings cause gods to show such force, so legends say," he said at last.
That he had gone so long without snarling at the other seemed out of character, perhaps a mixture of the happenings and so many innocents about? Perhaps he simply felt the orange one no threat, away from the claimed lands of prides, and below his own size.

With her small tail curled around her, Kirjava didn't understand why the ground was still shaking? Gods? The little crimson and tan female did not understand the concept of gods that they were talking about. It was all greek to her. Crimson eyes gazed up at the male who had whispered softly to her and was grateful he was still there with her. Shifting her gaze to the others, she noticed that they were sort of huddled around the two lionesses that were some distance away from her but within sight.

Raising her head slightly to look up at the male, she asked in a tiny voice, "Why is the earth still shaking? Won't it break and fall apart?"

"I hope not." Sand-toned ears flicked back briefly at the thought, before rising to the alert again. The earth breaking apart would be...bad to say the very least. Offering a smile to the lions he'd followed briefly earlier, he joined in the conversation.

"What is a god, please?"

Smiling down on Kirjava, once more the gruff tone was softened, the features cleared of an habitual scowl.

"It shakes to tell us what we must know. As the rains fall, the sun rises, and the moon chases it each night, so the gods speak."
To the male cub his voice was raised, some harshness recalled as it returned to the hearing of adults, he called out a response;
"Gods are that which create us, that create what is around us."

"They are the only masters of mortals," he added as an afterthought.
Whether this was a warning to the other male, the other adults, or simply a spoken memory of what once was, Kitwana's voice was raised upon it.
So he believed, none but the gods were owed his service.
