"Maybe later you can help clean up."
She mustered a smile, then withdrew to serve the soup up into bowls that she set at the tiny kitchen table. A basket of warmed, sliced bread sat in the center, and Sophia was just setting spoons by each place setting as her grandfather shuffled into the kitchen. Without a word, he sat at the head of the table, and held out his hands to either side of him. Sophia hurriedly took her place beside him and slipped her fingers into his. She motioned with her eyes for Sky to do likewise, then bowed her head. As Sky took his place at the table, the old man muttered grace under his breath; it was in Russian, so Sophia doubted that their guest understood more than the 'Amen' at the end, but none-the-less, it made her grandfather happy.
"Amen."
Taking up her spoon, she pushed it through her soup absently as she monitored how much her grandfather ate out of the corner of her eye. As usual, he slurped up a little broth and made a show of eating more than he did. Blinking at the sudden moisture in her eyes, Sophia followed his example and pretended to eat.

Sky understood every word that Sophia's grandfather spoke. After all, he is an angel. He looked at both of them and picked up the spoon. It felt odd in his hands, possibly because he was holding it wrong. He then glanced again at the two and mimiced their handling of the spoon and then placed it in the soup.

They ate in a silence punctuated only by her grandfather's faint slurping now and again. When they'd eaten their fill, the old man rose from the table, paused long enough to permit his granddaughter to kiss his cheek, then shuffled off down the hallway. Only the dull thud-click of the door closing remained to bid them goodnight.
Sophia watched him disappear with a heavy heart, then returned to cleaning up the table mechanically. The craving was starting again, and she thought if she could just get things straightened up, she could settled down with a drink once Sky had gone to sleep...

Sky did not know what to say to er at that moment. It had that dull silence in the air. He was use to it but he doubted that Sophie was. He raked his brain to find something but to no avail. This acting like a human buisness was rather hard than he anticipated.

When the last of the mess was cleared, and the kitchen returned to rights, Sophia turned to Sky with a small smile. He'd been polite and well-mannered all evening, something she appreciated in a house guest; and while she still knew next to nothing about him, he'd been kind enough to indulge her grandfather's ways. It was enough to earn some measure of her trust.
"I was thinking of going out. You're welcome to come with me, or stay here if you prefer. I can have the guest room made up, give you a chance to settle in..."

"I shall accompany you." Sky replied with no hesitation. His job was to watch her 24/7. Wonder if he will actually watch her while she is sleeping.
((Lol. Sky is a stalker whee ))

((LOL! xd ))
She was taken aback by his immediate answer, but gave a faint shrug as she retrieved a light denim jacket and threw it on. In the process of grabbing her keys and checking her pockets for her wallet, she spoke to him.
"Fair enough. It's not far, just down the street. You don't mind walking I take it?"

"No. I do not mind." Sky responded as he rose from the table.
