Lt. Brookman BAD VIKKI! scream Examples? Hmm, well there are new world types (Forge World, Noble Born, Mind Cleansed and Schola Progenium) to hail from with their own weapon and equipment. Some of the worlds in the Calixis sector are fleshed out and new careers for all classes are presented, ranging from corrupt local commissariat members to bounty hunters from the Bloodsworn. There's also some sweet origins to buy with your starting XP, such as veterans from a war or the such. The book then spends most of its pages on several new world types: Feral/Feudal, Hive/Forge, Frontier Worlds, the Void and War zones. Each world gets its own assortment of weapons and other items. Quite some good stuff in there, like hand-cranked heavy stubbers, 9-70's, "Father Shot" Muskets, Scipio Arms knock-offs and the infamous Hecuter 9/5 from the Eisenhorn and Ravenor series. Buy it! Buy it! Buy it! I don't think it's in the budget for some time to come! sweatdrop We're waiting for Rogue Trader and I'm building up my Guard army remember.

I've pre-ordered my copy of Rogue Trader, sadly I can't afford the sexy collectors edition with hand written Warrant of Trade (which I'd love to have the name "Macharius Brookman" on it) and resin seal of the High Lords of Terra.

Recently started a new DH camapign around here. We started with three players - a Metallican Hive Gang Heavy, a Noble Guardsman, and a Volg Arbitrator. One session later we were joined by an Assassin of some sort. As the GM said after looking at our character sheets - 'huh, better get your door-kicking boots then.' Everyone is specced for combat with the exception of the hive ganger - He's got high BS and a heavy stubber, so his advances have all been spent on tech skills to become the defacto tech-priest.

We wrapped up out DH campaign not that long ago, sorry bunch that we were. My character was half-blind, half insane and a nervous wreck due to a daemon. Our cleric has officially lost faith in the Emperor during our ordeals and decided to shoot himself when he lost his nerve during our final session. Our little inkie was torn apart by muties and our replacement guardsman caught a bad case of death. My character was the sole survivor and rather fittingly we decided to put her in an asylum where she regained some of her sanity and fell in love with another former acolyte, together they now live a quiet life, forever tormented by nightmares. crying
So yay..... Happy ending there.
But soon, Rogue Trader! surprised

I think I prefer DH to RT - all my favorite moments in Alternity came from times we almost died and pulled through by the skin of our teeth. RT doesn't have the same danger threshold as DH.
Also, purely as a mental exercise, I and some other guys came up with a character in RT that can step into a room and everyone has to either dive for cover, or explode into red mist. Initial concept from /tg/, refined by a few friends.
Equipment necessary: MIU interface units with two shoulder mounted stormbolters (or heavy weapons of your choice if you have the power armor to justify mounting them) two wrist mounted bolt/auto pistols with vox-triggers, stormbolters akimbo with recoil gauntlets and pistol grips, 8 digital weapons and a pair of Baleful Eyes. With GM consent - digiweapons/eyes are flamers.
With a single full round action you can fire both shoulder mounts, both wrist mounts, and a stormbolter. With Talents, this build quickly becomes monstrous, allowing the second handheld stormbolter into the mix, a total lack of penalties for this, independent targeting of each weapon, additional damage on every shot fired, and the ability to combine the output of several weapons on a single hard target. Reputation alone might justify giving this character a Fear rating in DH.
If I ever run RT/DH, he will be an antagonist, and trousers will be stained when he is spotted. Which will make it all the sweeter when they finally off him.
EDIT: to make this even more ridiculous, make him a Mechanicus Secutor with a Machinator Array - you can add another two pistol weapons to the mix via weapon mechadentrites.

Lt. Brookman Which of course raises the question, what role will you be fulfilling onboard? surprised Void-Mistress. I'm going to pilot the shuttles and fighters. whee I want to be like Medea Betancore and Brae Jagdae(sp?), though with plenty of my own quirks and personality. Our GM is already busy building us a system to explore and our brave Rogue Trader has built us a mighty vessel. But like Vikki remarked, it's a bit tiny though.. sweatdrop I'll post my character when I'm home and have my things more or less unpacked again.

I haven't got a lot on Luna Starkiller right now (cheesy name I know, but I like to think of it as an earned title of sorts whee ) other than her origins. Obviously she's a Void Born, born in the holds of a massive Imperial Navy vessel where she was forced to survive from the day she was born, marking her as a Stubjack, however over time she came into contact with certain elements of the crew, who impressed on her a sense of servitude and duty expected of all who inhabit the Emperor's domains, be it planet or void, she became Duty Bound, feeling that she had a duty towards humanity as a whole, however there was a great Calamity that shook her to her core and made her realize that all that really mattered was, Fortune, lot's of it. Now she serves as a Void-Mistress with a young dynasty, where she had quickly established herself as a Mistress of Small Craft.
It's just a quick draft, I'm working on the background whenever I get some more ideas to tack on. But in a nutshell my character is born aboard a ship, had to fight to survive, came into contact with other crew and became a pilot, upon seeing the void for the first time got the startling realisation that there was more out there than just her own skin but would later flee due to treason or something like that, finally realising how people really are and deciding to make a fortune for herself.
Motivation is a bit lacking as of yet as to why she has turned into a money grubber. sweatdrop
Visually my character wears a Navy issue flight suit with integrated armour padding, a compact bolt pistol, a navy issue shotgun and the usual techno junk that all the other characters also carry.

Extremely broken and horrible character time, DH edition!
The Hive Gang Heavy I've been playing for 4 sessions or so now has been made largely superfluous by the Techpriest who just joined us. Scum have a horrible advance scheme for building something like a Heavy, and between the Guardsman and the Arbitrator, we have horde killing down. So my backup character is going to ride in from the wings. And she's horribly, horribly broken. This is a Rank 5 character - 3400 XP spent, and she may get another 200 - 400 before she actually sees play.
Lyra Imperial Psyker- Templar Secundus
WS: 42 BS: 32 S: 35 T: 35 Ag: 38 Int: 31 Per: 33 Wp: 73 Fel: 24
Wounds: 15 Fate Points: 3 Insanity: 9
Advances include Living Nightmare, all four Wp advances, Psy Ratings 2 through 4, one WS advance, Quick Draw, Counter Attack, Wall of Steel and Blademaster.
No, Wp is not a typo.
She has 18 minor powers and 5 Biomancy powers. Most of her powers can be cast without risking Phenomena simply by virtue of her large Wp bonus and invoking. Some powers can simply be activated and sustained roll-lessly without even pausing to use Invocation.
She has little in the way of equipment - Data slate, hardened bodyglove, compact laspistol, sword, psykana mercy blade, and a force longsabre.
The force weapon does 1d10+9 R damage in her hands, with Pen 8. Between her balanced weapon and the Precognition she can indefinitely sustain, she has a 62% parry chance. She has an extra parry per round and can strike back when she successfully parries. She's one advance away from a new bonus in both Str and To.
