Ico! I just realized something! I have a deadline for The Wood to your Mother show at the same time! I'm going to make this piece on wood and submit it to that ^_^ I'm excited.

Iconoclast make sure the subject matter isn't the Daily Show or the Colbert Report, we don't want Hansma to have an unfair advantage

So I don't think it's possible for her to draw just that. XD; Hansma: On wood? That's cool. How do you prep wood for use?

Well you can just paint right on it if you want. I haven't done it in a long time so its going to be kind of an adventure.

I paint on wood a lot.
I just gesso it, normally, but thats with acrylics and some wood sucks up all your paint, so it depends. Plus i dont like wood grain all up in my paintings that much
if you have a peice of like plywood, that s**t is going to be hard as hell to paint on because all it will do is absorb your paint and swell a bit.
god its so nice though. I reccomend it to everyone.

At the bookstore at the college they have these nice little wood panels to paint on. They even have the 'frame' on the back of them... you know, to make it like a canvas? I don't use gesso ever, but I do use gloss and matte mediums to seal my illustration board sometimes. I kind of want to wood grain to come through because that is the theme of the show. I think it might be a good effect to play around with.
