The lively night was bursting with enthusiastic bliss. Everyone seemed to be happy. From his branch, Chase had a pretty good view of the Meeting Area. Sentinels of all ages were already gathering in small groups, chatting, laughing, singing… There was a small crowd surrounding a singing Bard. “He must be incredibly entertaining. “ Chase thought with delight, wondering if he should join them. As a glimmer of excitement crossed his blue eyes, he directed them to another area where a very pretty female seemed to be drawing just as much attention. Oh, she was a minder! And there was the little one, how adora…wait, what… oh! So that was a Spectre. Chase narrowed his eyes. He couldn’t exactly hide his excitement and curiosity. He stretched his dark wings but before his talons even left the branch, a rather impressive male joined her and the minder, feisty as she seemed, did seem to retract a bit. Perhaps she was slightly bothered by the increasing number of Sentinels that surrounded her – it would be best to leave the introduction to a more appropriate occasion.

Hazel fluffed happily when she was indeed recognized. Thorn really had grown, and she hadn't been around as much as she'd liked these last few months. The life of a ranger was a far-flung one, and she was much pleased to be back around her friends. She looked around when he asked as to if she'd seen another Deep Woods type, and finding non shook her head.
"I'm afraid not, Thorn. Was she someone you knew?" She tilted her head to one side, catching a glance of darker feathers passing between two lighter Sentinels behind Thorn. The figure moved too fast though and she would later assume it had been a flash of feather dye or a wayward branch. As the other bird landed she shuffled aside, listening intently to the two crafters...well crafter and crafter-to-be, chatter on. She was well at peace with her own quiet, far too accustomed to hearing only her own tones to miss them now.
Regardless, her attention did begin to wander. First she looked 'round to the bards, who had drawn a fair crowd. A moment of listening and she decided no. The song they were rounding now was not one of her favorites, though it wasn't bad. Next item on the list of possible delights was the food. As tantalizing as it was, eating alone was another day-to-day excercise for a ranger, and she had planned on finding someone to chatter with this time. Maybe she could find someone else she knew...
"I'll see you later maybe, Thorn. Say hi to Liam and Roth for me, just in case I miss them." She nodded to Mag and fluttered off, not wanting to stop their trade banter. She circled a while, looking over the faces of the birds below. No...no...no one familiar. She lit on a branch after a few more go-rounds, thinking perhaps it would be easier if she waited for someone she knew--or didn't--to come to her. For the moment she occupied herself with watching the more vividly-colored birds, enjoying the mingling of her species.

Chased looked around, hoping to find a familiar face but it seemed as though luck didn't want to anything to do with him that night. He did notice a small female fledging, humming quietly to herself. For an instant, he considered encouraging her to join the other fledglings but she seemed really content on her own and he decided he wasn’t willing to disturb her. Besides, Chase was very much enjoying listening to the little female and wondered if she was considering the Bard profession.
He suddenly noticed a Deep Woods female landing on a nearby branch. She had lovely white markings that contrasted her brown plumage. Well, he would defy Luck! If he couldn’t find any of his friends, why not try to make a new one? The female’s attitude wasn’t uninviting and he might as well try to mingle a little. He leapt from the branch and flapped his wings until he was close enough to land at a respectful distance of the female. He felt a short dab of pain on his right wing which he fully ignored in order to give her a proper greeting. “Hello, miss.” Chase said with a lively tone, stretching his wings and bowing in front of her until his head almost touched the bark “Do you mind if I join you?”

"Crazy Sentinel! Crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy!" Bracken's singing was, mercifully, interrupted by Fern. Who had apparently encountered a crazy Sentinel.
"What's wrong, Fern?" Bracken asked, patiently, "What about a crazy Sentinel."
"HIT me. Flying. RIGHT into me!" Fern sputtered, indignantly, "THERE," she looked in the direction of Hazel and Chase.
Bracken followed the Parus' line of sight, spotting Hazel. She was cute, if, y'know, a little odd. Spreading his wings, he flew over, landing next to her. Fern, with an offended chirp, flew off in the other direction. "Hello, Hazel," he said, smiling slightly, "and hello to you as well," he nodded to Chase.

Thorn nodded at the little Parus. "Pleasure to meet you too, Sol." He looked back up at Mag. "I just have Cassiel right now. My parents found him for me; they're Rangers, which is why I live with Liam. It must be fun having lots of Companions."
Liam heard the voice of his fledgling. Thorn was talking to a female Mist with a bright Parus. He chuckled. It was good that Thorn was so social. He felt Roth tugging hard on his tufts, and he turned his head in the direction the Skurri indicated. Among the strange faces, he saw Hazel's familiar form. Roth chittered excitedly, and, sighing, Liam launched himself in her direction. A male was next to her, one he hadn't seen before, but Roth was hitting him now, paws balled up into small fists. He flew over to her and landed on her other side. "Hello, Hazel!" Roth said nothing, instead jumping in front of the female Deep Woods and cuddling into her belly feathers.

Hazel shuffled a bit and turned to regard the assorted folk who had just landed by her. It seemed she was popular tonight, and she was glad for it.
"I knew waiting her would work best." She piped to herself, eyeing first the newcomer, then Bracken. Pleased by Chaser's chivalry, she too dipped, fanning a wing in a lady-like way. "A pleasure to meet you sir, do join us. A lovely night, isn't it...I'm sorry, I don't think I got your name?" She hopped about a bit, resettling where it would be easier for the three of them to sit together.
"And hello again Bracken." She clacked her beak at the male she had met recently, holding a talon out at him. There wasn't time for him to even respond though before she had to set the foot down again, balancing as Roth burrowed against her. Catching a sight of that lovely fluffy tail, she shuffled to one side, tucking him under a wing with a fond pat.
"It seems we have a crowd now, mm?" She bobbed at Liam. "Good to see you too, Liam. Thorn seems to be enjoying himself." She leapt up momentarily to spot the fledgling, still chattering away. It was amusing, she noted, suddenly being surrounded by the taller males. She must look downright teeny next to them!
((Wow...Hazel got popular XD))

Roth scrambled up Hazel's back and started rubbing her head. Liam rolled his eyes. "He's gone nuts, I think." Looking at the two other males, he bobbed his head. "I haven't met you yet! My name is Liam, and the idiot flirting with Hazel is my useless Companion, Roth."

Birch noticed some Sentinels leaving without much worry. He couldn't please everyone, and he didn't want to. It was much more fun to be annoing.
Let’s hope the crash is soft Let’s hope the crash is soft Hey! Ho! Watch him go Let’s hope the crash is soft
One of his eartufts twitched as he heard the word "artisan" in the general chatter. He would have to touch up his dyes sometime but he pushed this thought back and concentrated on finishing the song.
He landed in a tree He landed in a tree Hey! Ho! Watch him go A fledgling in a tree
Birch decided not to try to push his luck. Singing the whole thing over again would be a bit too much, so he gave his audience a bow to mark the end of the performance. He straightened again and made sure he had eye contact with at least some of the Sentinels in the audience before speaking.
"Thank you! Thank you!" he said in the booming voice he reserved for announcements, "If your ears have recovered from this terrible assault I'd like to point out that we'll have a bit of a bard festival in the Crownleaf theatre the next few nights if the weather is decent."
He bowed again and scanned the crowd to see if Tousled had moved, but her wonky looking eartufst were still sticking up behind a pale Sentinel.
"I hope to see you all at the theatre," he said with a smile and a wink, "And if you excuse me this bard here is going to get something to eat before the best bits are taken."
Birch hopped from branch to branch trying not to crash into anyone. The jingling from his bells gave fair warning at least. After a bit of shuffling he was able to land on the branch next to Tousled.
"Hello again," he said and grinned, "Care to join me in the madness down there?"
He motioned at the dense crowd surrounding the gatherers.
"Here's the plan," he said in a mock whisper and leaned towards her, "I'll crash near that huge Shadow gatherer in the middle and then you can fly in after I've cleared the path."

A bard's jangling bells caught Thorn's ears. He watched as... hey, there she was! That fluffy Deep Woods female! Thorn watched her. All he wanted to do was talk to her... maybe she could give him some tips!

Lore was enjoying her first longest night. She listened to various bards sing, and was so impressed by their melodies that she tried to hum along. Though after noticing that her nearer neighbors seemed to cringe as she hummed, she stopped, realising that she must not be as in pitch as she thought she was. Not really knowing anyone in the croud, she fluffed out her feathers and listened to all the merryment going on around her, lit by the ever-glowing moon. Thinking of the Brigadier's story, she stared at the moon for a while, lost in thought and almost asleep. Such a large event was a bit tiring, she wished she could practice flying a bit more instead of simply sitting here, but she didn't feel like moving from her perch.

((Silver- you should bring Lore over to Thorn! Fledgling talk!!)) Thorn sat on his branch and watched Birch talk to the crafter. He wondered how he could get her attention without being too annoying. She seemed to be afraid of him the last time... maybe she just didn't like fledglings. He heaved a sigh and scanned the area for any new faces. To his surprise, he saw another fledgling! She was silver, like the moonlight. He waved a wing at her, beckoning her over.

((Fledgling chatter! ^^))
Lore woke up with a start, realising that she'd been dozing. She peered around, hoping that no one had noticed. But what was this? Anouther fledgling was waving at her. He was a deep woods with eyes like pale sunlight, and looked vaugly familiar. She hopped over to see what he wanted. "Hi." she said, "nice night, eh?"

Chase folded his wings elegantly, the right one a little faster than the left one and eyed the female with a pleasant smile. “A lovely night, indeed. Do pardon my rudeness. My name is CloudChaser but feel free to call me Chase…” he paused for a brief moment and then continued with a much less formal tone tempered with light mischief “… but you can also call me Four-Eyes!”. Chase turned his head, pointing its back on her direction, showing her the round markings as he let out a short chuckle. “And you are Hazel, apparently!”, he added, returning Bracken’s nod with a polite smile. Just as he was about to formally ask for the Sentinel’s name, Hazel greeted him and soon after she seemed like she’d lose her balance as a small companion attempted to hide under her belly feathers. “She is rather popular!”, Chase thought to himself with an inner grin, as another male landed on the branch. As he introduced himself and the “flirtatious” Skurri, Chase repeated his name lowering his head slightly in a respectful greeting.

"It's a pleasure to see you again, Hazel," Bracken replied, "And to meet you, Liam, CloudChaser, and Roth. I am Bracken." He nodded politely at the three of them, "I don't know where Fern got off to, since we're introducing useless companions. Though I suppose she did tell me that Hazel was here, so perhaps she isn't entirely useless."
The Parus in question was off in a huff that Bracken would rather go spend time with a female than comfort her. OH, look, a shiny pebble! Wait, what was wrong again?
