Lance continued to follow. He bit his lip to keep himself from talking. He really wanted to tell her that he had been trying to meditate more. In fact, he felt that he almost had something while trying ti near the water. If only his sister's hadn't interupted him while meditating he might of been sure. Of course, Lance was forced to keep this to himself. He let out a quiet whine and still followed the other.

Motoko had finally lost herself in thought when she heard a quiet whine from behind her that just had to break her concentration. Stopping abruptly she whirled around and huffed in exasperation at the young adult, "What?! WHAT could it possibly be that is SO very important that you can not keep your tongue still for more than five minutes?!" Motoko frowned at Lance and sat down with a stubborn thump, "Now that I have already asked, you'd better start talking, because I don't want any of this "nevermind" stuff you hear? You've got 30 sec. of my time to say what you absolutely must say and it better be wroth my while..."

Lance jumped back a bit in surprise. And he had been doing so well. "W-Well uh... you see...." He smiled a little. "I've been meditiating like you taught me and I thought I felt something the other day! By the water!" He grinned happily and wagged his tail, wondering how she would react. "Am I getting it, maybe? Am I?"

Motoko shivered a bit at the mention of water and sighed, "If you felt something by the water, then... As much as I regret to admit it you're probably of the water domain." She blinked and looked around wearily, "It wasn't really worth the 30 sec... you probably could have waited until we got to the base of the mountains... but in a way I'm glad you told me.... yes I think you may be getting something but... don't get cocky now alright?" She stood and stretched, continuing on the pathway she was on earlier, but this time she spoke while she walked, "When near water, do you find yourself more attached to... to... how do I explain this... the cold or the wet feeling of it?" Motoko hoped that maybe at least he was more aligned to ice than just water, but she wasn't going to push it on him. Her dislike of water, was not something she wished to divulge on the boy, so she decided to be without a bias attitude...

Lance frowned a bit. "Regret? Is water bad? I thought it would be a good thing since it's fun to swim in and stuff...." He ears folded back and he continued to follow along, but was now by the elder's side again. "I think it might be the wet stuff... but I'm not sure. My sisters interupted me before I could get into it too much." He sighed and mumbled something about his sisters under his breath.

Motoko shook her head, "There is absolutely nothing wrong with water for you. It suits you wonderfully. I'm just more of a rock person myself, but just because you're affiliated with water doesn't mean you lower yourself in any way in my eyes, so stop sounding so wounded." With a patient sigh she looked down at Lance from the corner of her eye, "Sisters? ... OH! I completely forgot you had a family..." She shivered and looked ahead again, "Remind me never to meet your family... those sisters of yours, those sisters which you speak of sound even more intolerable than you are..." Motoko chuckled and patted the boys head with her tail.

Lance smiled and wagged his tail. "Good! I don't want my element keeping me away from my teacher. You still have to teach me stuff!" He shut his eyes as he was patted with the elder's paw since it was a bit different from a normal adult patting him on the head. It was a lot bigger for one thing. "I wouldn't say that. They're nice. Especially mom. I don't see too much of dad, but he's nice too." He stuck his tonue out. "Sisters are weird. I wish I had some brothers too, but sisters are okay. I think they were worried 'cause I've been acting different with all this meditiating apparently..." He rolled his eyes.

Motoko sighed and shook her head, "Hush now boy! Your incessant chatter is giving me a a migraine... When I ask you a question you will answer it fully, when I make a comment you either agree with me curtly or disagree with me silently understood? Excellent..." She stood up and sighed turning around and continuing to walk on, "And continuing on the topic of domains and elements I will elaborate as to why I asked you about which part of water appeals to you more. As you slowly reach your goal young one, you will have to begin to understand what your power truly is. For example, in the earth domain, there are many sub powers. I hold the ability to bend rock to my will, there will be those that can grow flowers, or control vines etc. etc. These powers all fall within the earth domain. In the water domain, there are usually two main branches, the branch that has to do with water, and one that has to do with ice."

"Water can be moved, created, bent to ones will, steamed, compressed, thrown, enveloped, and a number of other things. Ice is usually crafted, created, thrown, molded, bent to ones will, and a couple of other things. Though you absolutely do NOT need to know what power you control within your domain at this age, it is a nice thing to be able to understand. Most dagonfly do not figure out their power until they are an elder and are angry or scared enough to make something happen. Though surprise is nice somtimes, I do wish that when you become an elder you truly know what you can do before you turn the entire forest into a lake or what have you..." Motoko chuckled slightly and looked over her shoulder at Lance, "I will let you ask two questions... I know there are probably a million in your mind right now, but PLEASE for heaven's sake just choose the two most important ones and we will continue off those..."

"Only TWO? Ah man! Now my head is going to be buzzing with unanswered things!" He frowned, and lowered his head. "But I understand teach! You're right!" He quickly added in since he realized right away what he said might annoy her. It didn't seem understandable to him actually. How could he stick with just TWO questions? There was so much he didn't know and he thought you were supposed to ask teachers tons of questions!

"Uhm... oh I know! When you tell me to either completely disagree or completely agree.... What should I do if I can't make up my mind about agreeing or disagreeing? Should I lie? I thought lying was bad.... Oh sorry! Talking too much again! And, uhmm....Oh! I know! Is it possible to be able to do everything single thing possible with an element? Like... control EVERYTHING! That would be so COOL! Oh! Shutting up now..." Lance wagged his tail happily and laughed at himself. It was so hard to keep quiet. He was still so young...
PostPosted: Mon Nov 03, 2008 7:18 am

Motoko bopped Lance lightly on the muzzle and sighed, "Have you learned NO self control what so ever?! Don't answer that question... I already know the answer. If you can't stick with two, good, adequate questions at a time, I won't let you talk at all. Now DON'T give me that look! That, 'but aren't teachers SUPPOSED to answer questions?' look! I AM answering questions you mouse brain! Just one at a time so MY head doesn't explode. Lord, if I knew you would grow older and be even more talkative than before I would have just eaten you then!" She sighed and whirled around stalking off once more and continuing to answer questions.

"I said, quote, you will either completely agree with me, or disagree SILENTLY. If you don't like what I say, TOUGH! You're gonna have to suck it up until you are old enough to know more than me. Which won't happen since I already have a 100 year head start! And as for your second question..." She sighed and bopped him on the muzzle once more with her tail, "You need to think before you say things. Only the original five, the forest's gods and goddesses from the beginning of our time, were able to control their entire element. It is because of them you have any magic in you at all! So no.... it is not possible for you to control everything under your element. And you do not get to choose what you control really either. The power is already inside of you, you just need to find it..."

"But I did ask two questions I think! I think... Sorry..." He didn't want to be bopped again. He brought a paw up to rub his nose. Gosh, he sure did wish there was a way for him to get older than her. Maybe when he was finally an elder he would be able to earn some respect from her. Probably not. He didn't care though. That's just the teacher he had grown to admire so much.

"Okay, okay. I get it. So if I'm unsure I should just be quiet too." He nodded his head as he tried to note it in his head. "I'm getting this, teacher! I swear!" He grinned and wagged his tail. "But.. I have one more question. An important one... What do you mean by Gods and Goddesses? Can I ask that? Please? That one sounds important." He pouted a little. If only he could control all the powers. Maybe he could become a god...? That would be interesting... whatever she meant by god...

(( The story she is telling is the one from the front page of the main thread.... XP I didn't feel like pasting the whole thing....

Motoko looked down at Lance and laughed at his question about the Gods and Goddesses. "Well then, you don't know about the great Gods and Goddesses of our past...? What are they teaching pups these days?! I tell you what they are teaching pups these days... nothing. Anyways, I will tell you the story the way my mother told it to me. The world was slowing, unraveling to its core with each spin along its axis, until it soon would be no more than a tattered string of frayed lives...." Motoko rattled on, telling the story of the great dawn of Dragonfly existence, of the sad deaths of their great Gods and Goddesses, and of the species saviors, Drachus and Ber. Her story went on and on, and she did not pause once, not wanting to give that hyperactive adult any chance to cut in, in the middle of the story and ask questions. Finally, after a long while, Motoko's story ended, "Life in Di’jai is peaceful now, however, and Drachus and Ber had to find new ways to keep themselves occupied, as all of Dragonfly civilization has been left to grow and flourish... So.... Does that answer some of our questions...? I still can't believe no one has ever told you that story...."

(( XD I understand. ))

Lance, for once, was left without any questions. He was too amazed by the whole story and it seemed simple enough anyway. Powerful beings helped out the forest and all that. He could get that! "I think Mom might of told me something like that, but I didn't really get it at the time. Sometimes I space out around my family since I'm so used to them. I like 'em and all, but you're the coolest teach!" He smiled and wagged his tail. "So Ber and Drachus are still here today.... I wanna meet them sometime. They seem really cool. Have you ever met them, teacher?"

Motoko was starting to get bored of the little creature; it wasn't that she despised him or anything, but she had been hoping for a quiet day and it was turning out to be anything but just that, quiet. "Of course I met the guardians! And they are ageless... so yes... you can still meet them..." Motoko paused and shook her head slightly, almost wishing for a moment that she had hands with which she could massage her aching temples. But the female elder quickly relinquished the idea, Motoko hadn't turned into her elder form for centuries, and she wasn't about to start now. "Child, unless you have an extremely life threatening problem which needs to be solved right this minute, I believe it is time for us to part paths once more. I have grown increasingly weary from talking so much, and though your questions have been... decent... they are very trying on my already fatigued brain. Please do not prolong the agony with your puppy faced goodbyes. I will see you again some other time..." And with that Motoko paused and stared down at Lance, willing him to just go away...

Lance frowned. He didn't want to leave her side just yet. He had been trying his best to not bother her and everything! He didn't mean to... and he did look up at her with "sad puppy eyes" so to speak. Not on purpose; just because he was sad she wanted him to leave. "..But... But..." He stopped himself. She would get angry at him if he continued anymore. He was starting to get that about her. "Okay... Uhm... I'll try to find you again... And uhm... y-you're right. Mom is probably worried!" He tried to laugh, but it didn't work. The pup gulped. He started to walk off, but he looked back after he was some distance away from her. "I can't ask for just five more minutes right...?" It wasn't a good idea to pester her anymore. Lance knew this, but how could he help it...?
