A smile. Just a curious smile would whisk all blushing and faintness and sense of insecurity. Smiles were so odd like that.
"Just a normal telekenetic?" Emery laughed a bit. "That's a bit like saying just an ordinary rapidly mutating cyanobacteria." He stuck his tongue out and crossed his eyes. "And really, you're probably not that weak. It's all about focus. At least, that's what my mom said. And it worked."
Emery's silly demeanour fell as Yuki casually juggled his picture. For something so precious, it was odd. But the boy was immediately relieved when they were placed quite gently onto the pillow.
He walked closer to the other bed to check the picture out closer. The boy looked so much like his brother, if only a little tidier and a little tanner. "Yuki..." he breathed. "That's a cute name. How old is he? He looks about my age." He could sense the sentimentality within the picture frame, and was reminded of the bond with his mom. Nostalgia was so blissfully painful.

Ryo laugghed a bit as Emery crossed his eyes and stuck out his tongue. He looked too funny like that.
"Focus huh? I'll remember that, thanks."
Ryo was happy that Emery wanted to look at his picture. he had always felt a sort of pride when it came to his brother, like as if he were Yuki's real father.
"Thanks. He's only 11, but he does look at least 13."

As all boys are in any time, Emery was still quite a bit sensitive about his age--though he didn't really like to admit it. He smirked a bit and poked Ryo lightly, "Are you, sir, insinuating that I am merely thirteen?" His eyes twinkled with glee and mischief as he pushed himself closer to the older boy. He stayed like that, grinning, for a minute before pulling himself away again. God, he was acting like such the silly tease... But that was just it. Just teasing. Just teasing. Right?
He pouted his lips in a sign of submission and shrugged. "Ah well, it only means I'll 'age gracefully' or some crap like that this one old lady told me back in L.A... Then again, that same old lady told me something else too," Emery laughed. He hunched his shoulders over and made a scowling face as he spoke in an imitation of the annoying old lady. "She said I was, 'a punk out of business with no right to exist with all my shenanigans!' Geez, the old geezer never did like me, even after I baked her Don't-Die-Because-You-Keep-My-Mother-Half-Sane cookies.
"But that's enough about my screwed up life. I want to know more about yours. Yuki..." Even as he breathed the name, his eyes fell to the picture frame. It not only showed Ryo's natural closeness to his brother, but his sensitivity. Light fingerprint marks lined the covering as well as the frame--well handled, yet full of memories. It drew Emery closer to Ryo, as if by that single picture, you could see such large amounts of love that a person could never dream of being capable off. It made Emery want to love too--to stop all the anger and the confusion and just be.
"Yuki," he reattacked the name, "is he like us? A mutant, I mean."

Ryo laughed. Emery really was something else. Cute, funny, Ryo was wondering if he was doing it on purpose of not. "I only meant that he looks 13. If I insulted you by that then I'm sorry."
He frowned a bit as he herd what the old lady had said to Emery. Ryo believed that noone deserved that kind of abuse. "What a witch. She must have been terrible to live near."
Ryo smiled again as he talked about his beloved little brother. "No, he's not a mutant...he's lucky, unlike me." He turned and looked out the window. "Well, I shouldn't say that. It was because of him that I was sent here. Because of one stupid mistake, he lost his older brother...I pitty him sometimes. I don't blame him though, I could never blame Yuki for anything."

Maybe he should have seen it coming, he had been asking for it really, but Salem had just never met another man as bold as himself before. That was the problem with small communities, if you have an over-the-top personality and constantly played with others who just couldn't match up your at the disadvantage when you finally do meet a worthy opponent. Salem couldn't help it. He was thrown of a loop. He didn't even have time to blink as a pair of soft, warm lips met his own.
Once alluring green eyes widened in surprise; when was the last time he had met someone this bold? Never. His grip slackened, but he couldn't say he heard the can hit the floor or not, his heartbeat was drowning out all other sound.
It only lasted for a moment, a sweet and simple kiss, but Salem's head was spinning. The sound of his - Pluto's voice, a sexy velvet tenor, was just like adding fuel to a fire. It was all Salem could do just to keep himself standing.
"Pleasure to meet you too, Pluto," he said after a moment; he needed to catch his breath again. The raven beauty may be bold, but Salem wasn't exactly new to this game, even if he had never played with someone as bold, if not bolder, then he was. Stepping closer, perhaps closer then was necessary ( they're faces were barely touching ), he took Pluto's hand, entwining his fingers with his. "Come with me," he purred, "I want to show you something."

Again, Angel found her self doing more listening then speaking. She wasn't complaining, though. Whenever she opened her mouth she normally ended up doing more harm then good, however unintentional her slip of the tongue had been. She had learned the hard way that sometimes it was better to keep her mouth shut. Besides, you're able to learn much more about a person if you don't keep interrupting them.
Although she would never have admitted it, mainly to not make the boy feel bad, she felt like a great weight had been lifted from her shoulders when Jamie bluntly described her -- well, "other half" was probably the best way to put it. Angel didn't think Rory looked very threatening, but men, unless they were family or close friends, had always made her feel uncomfortable. She didn't know why, but for as long as she can remember she had always preferred the company of woman to men. Even when she was a little girl she had a very hard time talking to the boys in her class.
Still, Rory didn't seem so bad. He even seemed a little sweet in a pathetic, whiny way. Smiling, Angel offered the poor boy a hand and helped him to his feet; she may have been much smaller then him, but what she lacked in strength she made up for in determination and compassion.
"Let me see your leg for a second," Angel said as she crouched down in front of the dark-haired boy. She just couldn't stand seeing someone get hurt, no matter who they were. "Jamie, you're pretty strong," she added as she lifted up the boy's pant leg, "It's already starting to bruise. Or Rory just bruises easily." She laughed a little, which made her words sound as playful as she had intended.
Smiling a little more widely now, she covered the fresh bruise with her hand. She could already see her Mother's disapproving face as she channeled her energy down her arm, out of her hand and into the other's leg; it was actions like this that had landed her in Northwood in the first place. The skin beneath her touch grew warmer the more energy she poured into the wound and a dull, white light shone under had hand. At the same time, however, her own leg began to ache in the same spot she was healing. This was the problem with her power, she accepted the pain and suffering of others in exchange for healing their wounds.
When she was little Angel had thought this was a little unfair, but now that she was older she had a change of heart. Maybe she was never meant to heal people with her powers, but they were there to point her in the right direction in life? It was a thought that had helped her decide she wanted to pursue a career in medicine.
"There," Angel said after a few moments, the would was small so it took a very short time to heal, or rather exchange his wound for her uninjured portion of flesh. She stood up and hid the slight twinge of pain well as she carelessly put weight on her bruised leg. "I guess that pretty much sums up why I'm here."

Cute. Deffinately cute. For all that Salem had played so strong, he didn't seem at all used to when someone made bold moves in return. He had probably been expecting Pluto to be overly flattered and surprised... maybe slightly abashed or something. Well, neither the Prince nor the real Pluto would be like that. The Prince had already most certainly displayed just how bold he could be. Pluto's reaction would be about the polar opposite. He wouldn't become fumbling and shy like some idiot boy -- he would keep his head and either ignore the advances or directly put them off.
He'd even dropped the can. Not that the Prince really cared, but Pluto would have -- he had been raised to become the next butler in charge, after all, and so hated the idea of such a mess on the floor.
Salem had stepped forward so close -- close enough to make Pluto want to close that distance once more. As long as it wasn't too much, he didn't really mind doing fun things in the hallway.... But judging by his reaction to the kiss before, Salem probably would. The brunette's fingers laced together with the Prince's pale's digits, that overly attractive voice purring out an even more enticing offer.....
"Sure, love. Anything," he murmured, a light grin on his lips as he raised the other's hand and pressed his lips softly against the back. He really was too much the prince.

Vincent wakes with a start, jerking himself of the bed with a surprised yelp. You can blame him, this isn't exactly him king-sized four poster he usually resides in. He rubs his eyes, and lets out a small yawn. This hasn't been the best morning, but most of his homesickness has rubbed away with the nap.
Standing up, the open the suitcase careless dropped by his bed. Picking out a black jacket and matching pants, he stumbles into the bathroom to refreshen up. Vincent stares at his haggard visage. Dark circles under his eyes, sleep lines on his face, it just gets worse and worse. Pulling his clothes on and not bothering to brush his tussled hair, he decides some fresh air might help wake him out.
Half asleep, he decides to loosen up a bit, emotions seeping and swirling through the air around him. A hall or two later, Vincent shuffles away, not even noticing the two individuals with conjoined hands, as a stray, invisible aura washes through them.
[[Gyahaha! Gosh, he's a ditz.]]

Emery just chuckled a bit and said kind of to himself, "Nah. I'm just playing with you. I'm only 14, so it's not that much of a difference. And that old lady was just senile."
But whatever sense of joking and teasing he had at that moment was all lost at Ryo's change of heart. All the magnitude of that carefree personality the older boy had seemed to vanish from the room.
"You. You are not unlucky." He breathed. "You are not unlucky. I've had so much of that crap growing up. 'Yeah, you're mom works by herself. I heard she was a whore not a model. You're such an idiot punk,'" He mocked all the people who had told him such things in his life. "Fate gave us a gift. Whether to reward us or to screw us over, I don't really know. But hell if I'm gonna stand around waiting for that destiny to be made." He gave a sad smile. "This gift... Y'know. It's Spiderman. 'With great power comes great responsibility.' And power is a tool. It's a great tool. And I might not be the smartest person here, but these powers... These are part of what makes us great.
"Your brother... You love him, yeah? So be honest about him. Whether or not he is to blame is not the matter. It's what you do now. It's what you do to keep moving forward." Emery's cheeks flushed as he remembered with great intensity the similar speech that his mother had given him years before when his dad stopped visiting or even writing letters.
"This is your life. Live it."
Emery plopped down on one of the beds--he wasn't exactly sure which, he got so overwhelmed from that speech. He turned towards Ryo and gave a tired smile. "I'm sorry. I get a bit over dramatic about these things. I guess you could say that I'm a bit of a motivational rebel." Emery tried to expel happiness and hope with those eyes that so often shone with strong emotion--but found he couldn't do it. He could feel what he was saying, if only because he wasn't exactly living either.
Jamie could honestly say she was grateful for the way Angel reacted. The girl looked a bit tragic when she acted shy, but in a cute sort of way. However, Jamie was not one to miss that flash of pain on Angel's face as she revealed her power.
Rory's reaction was not much different really. He was a bit shocked that Angel had actually helped him up for one thing. Jamie... well, she wasn't exactly the nicest person on the block. And neither were the other guys and girls at their old school. He shivered a bit. Whether that was from nostalgia or that little tingly feeling he got as his bruise was healed, he didn't really know.
"You okay?" "So that's your power."
The twins chorused their expressions at the same time. Normally, Rory would be the one to ask if Angel was ok, but he was a bit busy getting healed to notice.
"Heh," Rory said. "That's a pretty nifty power. But judging from Jamie's surprising amount of concern, I'd say it pains you doesn't it?" Jamie wasn't the only one in the body with brains. They did, after all, share a bit of a mind. He stuck out a hand to help her steady herself further. "Some advice, don't waste your time on idiots like me and her. Jamie knows I can't survive without her, and in her state of mind... well, people will be wanting to kill her too badly to survive without me." He laughed out loud and stuck his tongue out at Jamie.
"Unfortunately," she replied, rolling her eyes, "my twin-brother-it-schizo-thing is right. It's not ok to be selfish, but it's not ok to not care about yourself either. You've got to take care of yourself first before you take care of others. So I'm going to give you a band-aid." She paused before adding, "Which I only happen to have because Rory like the ones with little cartoons on it."
"Hey!"
"Oh, my bad... The ones with the little cartoons and the hot pink ones."

Ryo smiled sadly and looked down at the younger boy. He was feeling a lot of compassion for him. 'I mean, he DID just try to cheer up an, almost, perfect stranger'
"Well thanks. That helped in a weird kind of way. But I never said I regretted my powers. I actually love having them. When I was home alone, I used to make all these little stuffed animals I had dance around the room like a parade. And yes, I said stuffed animals. Forgive me for liking cute things."
Ryo thought about what he said for a moment and then blushed. That...that probably wasn't the right thing to say in front of someone so cute
Ryo looked down at the younger boy again and smiled, this time making it a true smile. The other boy looked sad in comparison to how he had looked only moments ago. Ryo wanted to cheer him up so he did something--risky.
"Thank you" He leaned over to Emery and gave him a small hug. It wasn't anything special, just a friendly hug. He got up and smiled again, then decided to show off a bit by making his lighter clothes fly over to their respected hooks and land in the closet.

"Anything, eh?" Salem purred. A devilish grin spread across his lips as he watched the other kiss the back of his hand with hungry eyes. The only thing that could have made this image better was if Pluto had dropped to one knee to kiss his hand - perfect if he was naked too. Oh well. All in good time. He still had to feel him out ( and up ) a bit more before he went that far; Salem, though he acted like a two-dollar whore sometimes, didn't take just anybody with him to bed. There was some standards that had to be upheld. The only problem was that Pluto seemed to meet all of them.
He wondered if all of the prim and proper blue bloods at this school were as -- to be honest "easy" was the first word that came to mind, but that seemed like an awful thing to think in his present company. "Accommodating" was a little nicer, or in this case maybe "Gentlemanly"? Salem was far better at acting out his feelings then describing them, at least in any meaningful way; it was easy to tell someone what you thought they wanted to hear, but another thing entirely if you have to put emotions behind those words.
With Pluto in tow Salem led the way back down the hall and around the corner. The pair had just past room number 611when a thought suddenly occurred to him. If he returned to his dorm room like he had first planned then he would have to face his adorably uncute roommate. Judging by how uncomfortable Will seemed when Salem had innocently looked him over when they first met he was sure that he would put up some kind-of fuss if he brought a guy home so soon after moving in. There seemed to be a lot of bad blood between them already, or just childish misunderstandings, Salem didn't want to make it worse. On the other hand, maybe he did? Will had been such a little p***k earlier maybe sticking it to him the only way he knew how was just what he deserved.
"C'mon," Salem said, who hadn't noticed he had halted in his tracks. He began walking again and in a few long strides Pluto and he stood before room 614. "Have you ever seen where an angel's bed?" he asked, tilting his head to one side and smiling. "Neither have I, but I think we can make one of our own." The wink he gave the dark-haired Prince was just suggestive as his smile; a winning combination if Salem did say so himself. Opening the door, he pulled Pluto over the threshold.

Salem's devilish smile was met with an equally seductive and enthralling one from Pluto -- really, he looked like such an angel... and yet so dangerously beautiful at the same time. It was such an odd combination. Pluto's features were... clean. They were pure -- might even have been "angelic" if they weren't so angular. The way it was, when Pluto was himself he looked more the dangerous "dark and brooding" type. He was still quite overly attractive no matter which persona took hold of him, but Pluto was the mysterious type who kept to himself and didn't smile frivolously, so he looked... well, dangerous. But the only reason such thoughts begun in the minds of those around him was because they were incredibly curious about him but, at the same time, afraid to aproach, and so rumours began.....
As for the 'easy' bit, that was just the Prince's personality. He fell so easily in love and always wanted dearly to pamper all others. Anyway, this seemed to be what Salem wanted -- and, really, how could the Prince ever argue against such desires from such an impeccably attractive lad? He couldn't, of course.
And so, he followed the other back down the hallway, those bright blue orbs glancing over every now and then to catch a rather delicious glance of that brunnette.... But then, Salem had stopped. He seemed to be thinking about something.... well, not like it was a big surprise. His roommate was probably in his room so he was having to think of where to go..... And yet Salem proceeded all the same. Perhaps his roommate would be out? Slightly non-plussed, the Prince never the less followed Salem forward.
But then they stopped in front of the door and the other began to speek.... and that wink -- it was enough to make the ebony-haired male forget any previous contemplation ot musings that might have been running through his head at that moment had Salem not made such a move.... "Mmm, no, I haven't....... but that sounds lovely," he murmured, voice rich with that deep velvet.
The door was opened and Salem rushed them through. The Prince wasn't sure how Salem wanted it -- did he want to go fast and just start or was he one of those kids who liked to talk it out or something? But just as the Prince was contemplating this, his bright eyes fell upon a rather unmistakable form that lay rather stiffly upon one of the beds.
It was Will. Those bright eyes, now unobscured by glasses, were wide open. His hair was just as much of a mess as it had been before and it gave a whole new level to the look of shock and... was it fear? on Will's face. All in all, he looked about like deer in the headlights of an oncomming eighteen wheeler. Really, the Prince had no interest in such types, but it would be a problem if the boy stayed....
He had just been about to approach the boy (with words, if not with actions) when Will solved any problems there might be. He knew... what they were gonna do. Their hands were linked and they had that... that looked. At least it was mutual, but it still scared Will.... made him remember really terrible things.......
The messy brunnette shivered and then muttered a hasty "s-s-s-sorry!" His face was colored a bright red. In a scant moment he had gathered up the things on his bed (some sort of notebook, a pencil, and some other books) and had made a speedy exit through the door. But even just that much activity had made his breathing a little more rugged and aggitated than it had been several moments before. Will sighed and paused outside the door, waiting for a moment to regain his composure before he continued on his way... his way to where....? He really didn't know.....
The Prince blinked slowly, now looking incredibly non-plussed before he turned to Salem and gave him a look that clearly read "what's with him?"

Salem stepped out of the way as Will hastily left their dorm room. To be honest, he was a little surprised to see the expression on Will's face when he laid eyes on the two young men in the doorway. Had he seen fear behind those bottle lenses? He hadn't been expecting that. He had thought he would be ignored at first, but after a few choice words and maybe throwing Pluto down onto the bed Will would finally get the picture and leave. Or, in a perfect world, join in; the image of the handsome boy he had first met, still warm and wet from a shower, had left a considerable impression on him. That is until the whole coughing incident, where any opinion Salem had of Will went directly out the window.
When met with Pluto's curious look - a very, very sexy look from piercing blue eyes - Salem shrugged. He didn't think he had left such a dramatic impression on Will to receive such a reaction so he paid no more mind to it. "He's a little weird," Salem replied, waving a hand lazily at the bedroom door which had closed behind him.
"Don't worry," he added as he turned around and walked over to his bed, sitting down on the edge of the bed, "He'll be fine. I on the other hand could use your help. It hurts right here." The brunet traced his jawline withe the tip of his middle finger, light and slow as if he were teasing himself. It was one of his favourite maneuvers, a way to break the ice with girls who hadn't completely made up their mind or just weren't drunk enough to make any impulse decisions. "But I think a kiss would make it feel better."

"That's good," Emery mumbled on the bed, "be proud of who you are... no matter what..." He closed his eyes and placed his hands behind his head in a relaxed position, and so didn't have the chance to see Ryo blush just as much as he did. He was startled, and his eyes bugged out quite a bit when the other boy hugged him.
This... is nice. Oh God...
At Ryo's antics, Emery had to smirk. "God, wouldn't you be a convenience in bed."
...
Hocrap that wasn't good. "I mean... er... umm... Ohcrap..." Emery stammered a bit over his words. He sat up and started twirling his hand in his hair. Emery hadn't much experience with confessions and hoped to whatever happened to be watching over him that did not count. Oh man, he prayed it didn't count...

Ryo couldn't help but laugh. The other boys was too cute when he got nervous like that.
"I guess I might be handy for cleaning and stuff, but I don't see how levitating things could be handy in bed."
He knew, of course, exactly what Emery ment by his comment, but he decided to play dumb so he didn't scare the cute boy in front of him. He sat on the edge of his bed, facing Emery, and smiled.
"You want any help putting stuff away? I know that you're not supposed to use your powers, but I wouldn't mind helping my roommate."
