"Thanks for everything, and thank Moth again for me, would you?" Kyira's smile was genuine. The journeyman was already setting about tidying up the area, finding a place to store the vials of medicines where she could lock them up... just in case. Shaking of her riding jacket she draped it over a chair casually, intent on her cleaning.

"I'm not too worried about getting lost; if I do it will be like a mini-adventure! I'll remember about following the firelizards though." She nods her head while smiling at the notion. "Wouldn't want to miss meal-time. It would be the best time to catch everyone for their shots, too."

I appretiate you speading the word Farin." Thinks aloud to herself "I should keep a list of those who have had their shots... just so when I meet someone new I know they haven't had theirs yet..." Withdraws a writing hide from a carisak & writes on it carefully. "There!" She exclaims, examining her work. "I should easily be able to fit all the names of those in the weyr on this."

Waves goodbye to Farin. "Don't let me keep you form your dragon! Thanks again!" Folding her "list" Kyira places it in her pelt pouch before continuing to get the healer room to her specs.

The dusty light of the sun streamed downward, bathing the Weyr Bowl in tranquil peace. The early morning was quiet, despite the rather rambuncious splashing coming from the deep, clear lake nearby. It was often used for bathing dragons of course, and, it seemed that someone was pleased to have it all to themselves at the moment. If one came a bit closer, they could see what exactly was splashing so much. A small dragonet, staying clear to the shore, but enough so he was roughly chest-deep. The creature's cobalt hide rippled, a deep, true blue, darker than most of the other dragons his color. Sensitive, facated eyes were whirling about in a shade that was almost as dark as his skin. And from the sweet, warbling croons that were emitting from the young dragon, it was obvious he was quite happy. And not just from the feel of cool water dripping down his muzzle and wrapping around the ridges on his spine.

From somewhere a bit deeper within the crisp, shimmering waters of the lake, a rather lanky figure had emerged. His thin form was streamline, in a rather predatory position, as though he was stalking the young dragon. However, before the shaggy-haired brunette could move, the blue had pounced, trumpheting his success for all to hear. J'riar was laughing, hazel eyes glinting in his amusement. "Enough, enough! You win!" Chuckling to himself, J'riar dragged his body over to shore, sitting on the banks. He had pants on, not feeling comfortable enough to strip down entirely in case someone else decided to show up with their dragon. His shirt however, had been discarded, sunlight bathing his muscular back for a moment or two, before he slipped it over his head. This only made it stick to his wet skin.

Come back and play mine! I wish to play more!

Natroth's cheery tone split his mind, and a fond smile came to the man's lips. "Give me a minute to rest, eh? You'll drown me otherwise. You sure you're not tired or hungry?"

No, I am not hungry, but I wish to play! I like the water! Natroth crooned throatily before shoving his snout into the water. Exhaling heavily, bubbles burst up from underneath the surface, causing J'riar to start laughing all over.

"Crazy dragon! Make sure you don't inhale by accid--"

O-Ooh! The baby began to sneeze, coughing as he pawed at his nose, trying to get the water out. This of course, set J'riar off again.

"I told you!" His hazel eyes sparkled in glee, one arm throwing itself around Natroth's neck as the blue waddled over for comfort.

She was usually never an early bird. Kyra would sleep in for as long as possible, and no one would be able to wake her up without a good effort. But, since coming to the Weyr the people put on more than a good effort. Kyra was up at dawn to perform chores to help keep the Weyr running smoothly. Chores would last through most of the day and Kyra only had so many breaks. It wasn't a surprise that her alternative was to skip a few chores and get some time for herself. She simply couldn't deal with doing so much work without any current pay off. Sure, she was working to keep her stay at the Weyr so she could attend the next Hatching, but sometimes it just didn't seem to ammount to all the work she had to put in. At least they were able to go to bed early, and that's what made Kyra get up even earlier than she was supposed to.

The reason for this? Simple. If she got up earlier than needed she had a higher percent of being able to avoid her chores. Kyra only deployed this tactic when she really did not feel like doing anything, and today was one of those days. No one would really be able to pick her out in the Weyrbowl, and if they did all she had to do was seem preoccupied and they would guess that she was only doing some sort of odd chore. It was a fool-proof plan, mainly because she had been using the same type of plans in only different areas for the past few turns. Kyra had always been on the cunning side, and with a will that seemed unable to be broken, she would do what she wanted to do, and when she wanted to.

The barest of yawns escaped her lips as she slunk through the Weyrbowl. The light was dim, but sufficient enough so she would not trip over her own feet. Kyra had came here about a sevenday, a pretty average looking girl with a more than average personality. Kyra lacked the lustrous beauty the most females were catagorized with, and her own beauty was much more subtle, almost unnoticable when she didn't feel like taking care of herself. Everything about Kyra was if she felt like it or if she didn't. If she didn't feel like changing, she wouldn't, and if she didn't feel like doing chores, she wouldn't. It was a simple philosiphy that could be applied to her.

Kyra heard a voice, which was not all too uncommon, if it wasn't for the fact that it was pretty early. Splashing was then heard, and chuckling, and Kyra could easily determine where this being would be. The lake, and from the sounds of it he was probably with his dragon. The lake was for the dragons, to bathe and to relax. It was so perfect to have it right in the Weyrbowl, less stress for the Weyrlings and their dragonets because they didn't have to walk too far to get to the lake.

"Might as well," she mumbled to herself, letting her feet carry her to the lakes edge. Now she could see who was there, and her assumption was correct. It was a dragonrider, but really only a Weyrling. From the last clutch, she concluded after taking a glance at the blue dragonet, Natroth. It was almost hard to see him in the dawn light, his body being blue and barely distinguishable. But, there was no mistaking the whirling eyes, nor mistaking the movement of the dragonet as he waddled out of the water and to his bonded.

Too disturb the moment, or not to disturb? Oh, that was the question.

She could probably conjure up some excuse if she was with the Weyrling when someone came around to ask her why she wasn't at her chores. Plus, she would rather talk to someone than spend the rest of the day alone and eventually returning to her chores. It was only logical, in her mind, that she at least greet this person and his dragon. If they didn't want her there, she could leave, and it was as simple as that.

"Hello?" She said, approaching the two but remaining to keep her distance. She'd rather not accidentally stress out the dragonet, which would in the end cause the 'rider to be irritable.

Calloused fingers ran up and down the smooth skin of Natroth's neck, marveling at the feel. No matter how many times he touched it, J'riar was certain that he would never grow used to the sheer silky feel underneath his fingertips. The little dragonet proceeded to ignore his rider's interest, peering into the water instead. And much to his surprise, there was another little dragonet, staring right back at him! Shock shock, it was a blue as well! Natroth's wedge-shaped head tilted to the side, blinking curiously at the one in the water. He was being copied! Blinking with those faceted-eyes, the little cobalt dragon tentetavely struck out with one forepaw, blinking again as his reflexion disappeared in a wave of ripples. J'riar chuckled to himself, noting how Natroth's eyes began to whirl in alarm and guilt. Before he could say a word to reassure his Weyrmate, a voice punctuated the early morning air.

Curious, the brunette merely leaned backward, tilting his head over so he could peer at whoever it was upside-down. Sure, he looked silly, but what did that matter to him? Hazel eyes glinted curiously before J'riar straightened, twisting his torso so he could look at the young woman straight on. "Oh, I see I'm not the only one who gets up early in the morning..." A friendly grin in her direction, tinted with a hint of mischevious nature. "You can come on over if you want. We'd like the company."

Natroth lifted his head from the water, making a curious sound as his gaze fixed upon the one besides his rider.

Do you know her, mine? Is she nice too?

I don't know her, but I can't think of a reason why she wouldn't be nice. Do you want to say hi too?

Yes! I like making friends...they are warm.

J'riar chuckled lightly, amused with Natroth's response. Patting the blue's neck fondly, the brunette watched his dragonet clamor out of the water, curiously trotting within a few feet of the teen before he paused, warbling out a curious note.

"Eh, if dragons bother you, let me know...I don't want him getting bent out of shape before I get a chance to explain it to him." Another chuckle, and the young man shook his head slightly. "He's got a thing for making friends, you see."

A hand was brought up to her mouth, if only to stifle the laughter that was threatening to break loose. Her dark brown eyes were fixed on the young Natroth, who seemed to be entranced with his own reflection. She watched as the dragonet pawed at the water, eyes whirling in slight alarm when his reflection disappeared into ripples. It was apparent that the dragonet did not know his own reflection, and that was what made the situation humorous, and very much cute. Young dragonets may look awkward compared to their majestic parents, but they were absolutely adorable in their awkwardness.
Her attention drifted partially from the dragonet to his 'rider, who, in her mind, seemed to be trying to pull off the awkward cuteness that his dragonet had managed to pull off with ease. Of course, a human trying to seem cute didn't have the same effect as a dragonet unpurposely trying to be cute. Kyra raised a brow at the boy, smiling then when he finally straightened himself out. "It's the only time of the day when I'm not bombarded with chores," she replied to him in good nature.

The little blue dragonet wadded out of the water, walking awkwardly to only a few feet away from where Kyra stood. "I wouldn't be here if I was uncomfortable with dragons. Besides, who can dislike such a handsome creature." She resisted the urge to bend down to the level of the dragonet, and just looked on to the creature in pure admiration. Kyra was a candidate, there had to be some part of her that was fond of dragonets, or else she would've never decided to come.

"There's nothing wrong with making friends, as long as the wrong ones aren't made." She continued in a purely conversational tone. "I'm Kyra, by the way, former beastcrafter apprentice, and a candidate now." It was always nice to get the introductions out of the way. With them out of the way you could move on to better topics, seeing as introductions could be increasingly dull.

Ahh, well, the young woman would be mistaken than if she believed J'riar was attempting to portray himself as cute. There was no reason to do so, even though some of his actions were childish. If the brunette realized that was what she thought he was trying to do, he probably would have laughed out loud. A low chuckle rumbled from somewhere deep in his chest, head nodding in agreement. "No one's awake enough to issue any orders just yet." Perhaps that was the reason why J'riar had taken it upon himself to wake up so early and care from his little blue. Once Natroth was satisfied and went back to sleep, he could skirt off in an attempt to avoid any other chores that someone needed him to do. Granted, the brunette would always do anything that was required...but having to do hours and hours of chores...? Nah, no thanks. He liked being a lazy fool.

"Mm, good point as well. If I had known you were a candidate, than I wouldn't have asked." Another grin from J'riar, shaking his head slightly to remove his bangs from his face. Upon being referred to as 'handsome', Natroth lifted his head a bit higher, crooning happily. Feeling more confident, the dragonet waddled even closer, practically tripping over himself to stop just a bit before her, eyes whirling happily. He was a friendly little thing, especially when told how pretty he was. Definetely one for flattery, that was for certain.

I like her, ridermine.

Of course you do. She called you handsome.

Natroth didn't respond, but held his head up proudly and crooned again at the young woman. Maybe, maybe if he was lucky, she would scratch him and make him and at his eyeridges too. Oh, he would like that very much, yes he would, expressing this with another warbling sound and a slight flick of his tail. J'riar allowed a tender smile to come across his face, mirrored within his soft gaze. "Natroth, you big lug..." A rueful smile, and J'riar rose to his feet. "Well, since you've flattered him now, he wishes to know if you would pet him."

Others might have been jealous over the little blue's cravings for attention from anyone, but J'riar was actually quite amused. He always liked to be on people's good sides, though didn't go out of his way to try and make everyone like him. It was sort of based on whoever ran into them that day. "He likes you." The brunette added, chuckling once more.

"Exactly the point for enjoying this time now," Kyra replied with a lazy smile. Sure, some people may think of her as actually being lazy, but that was far from the truth. Kyra would simply not do anything that didn't interest her. She had her passions, her likes and dislikes, and chores was one of those dislikes. The girl could put up with them if need be, but that was only when the chores centered around something she enjoyed doing. Right now she didn't enjoy waiting around for a clutch to be laid and then for that clutch to hatch, but she would do her chores if only to keep herself here for when the time when a clutch did land upon the Hatching Sands. She wanted to have a dragonet as a partner, much as J'riar had his Natroth. Life for them was nearly complete, they had each other, and no force could ruin that bond of love. Kyra had nothing that could compare to that. She had not even a firelizard to share some measure of the bond that Natroth and J'riar had. That was possibly the main reason that had driven her here to Rias, so she could try and have that bond that she now was lacking.

"Ah, then I should've introduced myself sooner." Kyra said in an almost apologetic tone. Her gaze flickered from J'riar to Natroth, and almost imediately there was a smile on her face. She knew she had probably inflated the dragonets ego, but that was all in good nature. What dragon didn't have some sort of an ego? Natroth would get one soon enough, seeing as he was a fine little beast, and most females would probably compliment Natroth in a way to compliment J'riar. The Weyrling wasn't ugly himself, and the two made a handsome pair. Of course, though, Kyra's interest was always in the beasts. Who needed a real life when you can have a life tending to sick and injured animals?

"He doesn't even have to ask for me to pet him." Kyra said, and she laughed warmly. The dragonet was so close, and all she wanted to do was feel the smooth hide under her fingers, watch the whirling eyes and inspect the dragonet more closely. Working with beasts had made her want to know everything about every single one, and she couldn't resist the opportunity to get close to one, and Natroth was just so cute that even if she weren't a beastcrafter she'd still want to be near him.

"Well, I'd hope he would like me, or else I may be snapped at." She said with a rueful laugh as her hands rubbed against his forehead. Kyra knew what dragonets liked, and as her hand ran down the side of his neck the other scratched lightly at the eye ridges. She had enough lessons in her craft to know a lot about dragonets, and she was getting to the point where she was doing hands-on experiences with the beasts of Pern. Of course, she had never confronted a dragon until the day she was Searched, and so this was a rather excitable time for her. "He's a real handsome fellow, you know that? I'd say you're one of the luckiest Weyrlings I've seen."

J'riar, although warmly social with about everyone he had met, had never truly had an undying bond with anyone. No, he was a drifter, floating from group to group to stay in touch, but never truly forming strong attachments. It was just the way life had worked for him, until that fateful day when he had been brought here to Rias Weyr. Impressing Natroth had truly altered the young man's life forever, and not because he was a dragonrider now. No, now the brunette had someone he could always go to, someone who understood him and loved him and would always back him up, no matter what. The strength and affection of that bond was simply unnatural, and J'riar was fiercely loyal now to the little blue. Perhaps it was good that he had something to strive for in his life, someone to care for. It certainly gave him a purpose for waking up every morning.

The young man waved off her apology, grinning at her. "I haven't introduced myself either. I'm J'riar, rider of Natroth. It's a pleasure to meet you Kyra." So she was a former beastcrafter. It was nice, finding someone who also had worked with animals. Though he supposed it didn't matter much, now that he was a Weyrling here with Natroth, the brunette still found himself watching the flocks of wherries and herdbeasts that were kept within the Feeding Grounds for the adult dragons and such. It would take some getting used to now that he had only a single dragonet to care for, but J'riar was certain the work wouldn't be any easier. And who would complain?

Natroth crooned throatily, those little eyeridges sinking half-closed as he leaned against this nice new person. Hopefully J'riar would come to see her often, yes? She knew where he liked to be scratched. Lazily, the little dragonet's tail swished from side to side, signaling his pleasure if the crooning and whirling of his eyes did not.

"Nahh, Natroth's got a very mellow personality...I think he'd probably just come hide behind me if he didn't like someone." A rueful chuckle, and J'riar pushed some of his shaggy bangs out of his eyes. "He's quite handsome." The other agreeed, chest swelling with pride as he fondly gazed at Natroth. "And I know I'm very lucky. He could have chosen anyone, but he came to me." Yes, the twenty-one-year-old was very proud of that fact, and still unable to really believe just how lucky he had been. "I never thought that I would be able to Impress a dragonet...and I'm sure when the next Hatching begins, you'll be just fine." He grinned honestly. "With any luck, this next clutch will be larger so there are more chances for Impression."

A gust of wind announced the arrival of a dragon. It backwinged and landed gracefully on the ground, kneeling as it's passenger scrambled down. Dalron laughed as he jogged from the great beast, waving as they took to the skies once again. His curly hair was tossed about as the dragon's wing beats stirred a breeze. He watched them until they were gone then turned around. His breath caught in his throat for a moment. The Weyr was larger than he had expected. He'd never spent much time in one, being hold raised and harper trained. Dalron spun in a slow circle, his dirt brown eyes soaking in every detail from the claw marks on the weyr ledges to the carefull carving of the stone floor. A delighted shiver ran through his spine. This was a completely new type of adventure. This would be nothing like going from Hold to Hall.
Dalron ran a hand through his thick curls and chewed his lip for a moment. Where to now? He needed to figure out where the Harper's quarters were, from there he could learn the layout of the Weyr. Dalron spotted the couple chatting not too far from him and the lovely blue dragonet with them. He put on a bright smile, brushed his blue tunic straight and started towards them, clearing his throat to announce his presence. "Ah, Hello? I was wondering if either of you could point me in the direction of the Harpers quarters? I've just newly arrived here." He hoped he didn't seem too intrusive with that.

Quote:
Orana nodded To the weyr bowl then?" Orana said smiling she stetched her arms and began to walk beside her friend.

Ithean staired back at Trith and circled above the little green dragon and then landed on Orana's shoulder.

Malathan peered at the green curiously and chirped

Trith made a small warbling sound in response, seemingly pleased, and then moved to follow Remia when she started towards the bowl.

It wasn't long before they were in the great open area of the caldera, just in time to see someone arriving dragonback. Remia looked over at Orana as they walked.

"Can you tell who it is? Are they from the Weyr? I can't make anything out from this distance." She wondered who would be arriving so early, but she needed to get her dragonet bathed and oiled before breakfast, or she'd be late to classes.

"It is a pleasure to meet you as well," and though this may be considered a simple measure of formality, it somehow seemed sincere when Kyra had said it. She pleased to meet him, him and Natroth. They were what she expected of Weyrlings, hopelessly in love with each other in a perfect representation of the bond of human and dragon. They seemed nice enough, and Natroth was an absolute sweet heart. How was it possible for someone to be displeased with meeting the pair?

She smiled warmly down at the young Natroth, who was crooning at her. As she expected, she had found the dragonets weak point, though she'd take no advantage of the weak point. Natroth was like a large dog, loyal and sweet, but he was far more beautiful in his range of color than a dog could ever be. A dog had grace walking, it's body weight shifting with each step. But, a dragon appeared even more graceful in the sky. It didn't even seem like they were moving. All they were doing was letting the wind carry them, it appeared to those who remained on the ground. With her smile still as warm as ever she cradled the dragonets head, her free hand moving to scratch the ridges of the eye she had missed.

"I can tell, if he's practically falling in my lap." She chuckled, fond eyes moving from the dragonet to fix once again on Natroth's bonded. "They always seem to know who is best for them, and I must say, I don't disagree with his choice. If you have enough dedication to get up this early to take care of Natroth then I'd happily turn myself into a dragonet and bond to you just so you could waste all of your time taking care of me." Her chuckle had turned into a laugh, and her eyes were alight with humor. It was so much fun to have a simple conversation with another. Back at the hold she had worked, and that was basically it. She was taught and she applied the lessons that she had been taught to what she was doing. Here it was different, she had time to talk to people, time to get to know them, and she couldn't say that she was unhappy about that.

Kyra was so in tune with the conversation at hand that she had paid no attention to the dragon that had just dropped off its cargo. Many times before she had seen dragons come and go, and by now she didn't take much notice to them. It was only when she heard a voice that she realized that somebody else was here. Her eyes, widened by surprise, turned to the young man, and she greeted him with a warm smile that didn't lack the warmth that had been shared to J'riar and Natroth. "Hello," she replied simply, before continuing on as if she already knew him, which was quite untrue, "I would point the way, but I'm not very good with directions and sadly, Natroth has my hands tied up." Her fond eyes were turned once again to the dragonet, and immediately her intention was shown that she did not plan on stopping herself from pleasing the young dragonet. Natroth had her attention, and he would more than likely not lose it until J'riar wanted him back or when Kyra was dragged back to her own chores.

Far above the Weyr, a green dragon and her rider came out of between. The rider looked down over her mounts shoulder and examined the Weyr from behind a pair of protective googles attatched to her riding helmet. What she saw seemed to please her as her dragon circled lower and lower, bugling to the watch draon on the wall that they were friends. New transfers really, come from the far north to live in the south at the newest of the Weyrs.
The green backwinged and landed neatly in the center of th Weyrbowl, the packs of her riders things rocking slightly as she did so.
Said rider looked around to see if perhaps anyone had been sent to greet her.

Zelith lifted his head and watched the green land, bugling in welcome. Hello, beautiful, the brown called, rising up on his hindquarters and nearly upsetting his rider as she washed him.

Rinfala shook her head as she stopped scrubbing, nearly swamped as her brown rose up to greet the green. Bloody greens, why can't they choose more males?

Talon stretched before contining down to the bowl. His bronze firelizard curled protectively around his neck while the brown flew about his heels. He grinned knowing well he had escaped doing extra chores that were set for him and the other rowdy candidates. A continued to express the sheepish grin, until he saw the green dragon glid over his head. A silent remark of awe, left him standing there. With nothing better to do, he jogged up so he could get a better view of the dragons.

Yersith looked around at the brown that called to her from the lake. 'I have a feeling that you say that to all those of my color persuasion.' The green replied wryly to the brown.

The greens rider reached up and removed her helmet, sending long black hair tumbling down her back.
"Foo, just as hot as I remember it was." the woman said, running one hand through her hair. The sun glinted off of her pale skin, and reflected in her grey eyes as she turned to see what it was her green was looking at.
When she saw a brown and his rider there in the water, she waved to get the other woman's attention.
"Hello there! I'm the new transfer from Benden." she said and slid down her greens shoulder until she landed neatly on the ground. She approached the edge of the water and smiled.
"The name is Chaeren, and that's Yersith." she said in a friendly manner, nodding her head politely and gesturing back to her dragon.

The green wasn't paying any attention to the brown and his rider at the moment though. Her whirling blue-green eyes followed the path of a young boy and his two firelizards. She didn't alert her rider yet as she seemed to be busy introducing herself to the impertinent browns rider.
