November 23rd

Conan's been grouchy, and I think he's getting some sort of bug. He's been crying and rubbing at his ears all day.

The only time he stopped was when Jeane called. I managed to grab the phone this time. She's not at the ocean today. I heard a lot of wind in the backround.

We talked for a few moments, then Conan grabbed the phone and held it to his ear. He whimpered for a few moments, then whispered: "Home." His first word, apparently.

I took the phone back and heard Jeane crying. I hate to hear her cry.

Jeane Returns!

Rene awoke in the middle of the night, teeth chattering. She snuggled down into Jeane's waterbed to gain warmth, but was soon up again. Conan was sniffling and whimpering inside of his crip. The fallen angel crawled out of bed and brought the baby to the warmer bed.

The door to the bedroom opened moments later and a half frozen Luc was dragged in by Gwy. "Reeeenie, why is it so cold?" Gwy asked, puffing her breath. "I'm breathing steam!"

"S-s-s-s-snow!" Luc wailed. Rene scooched over to the window and peered out. It was indeed snowing outside. Rene sighed and climbed out of bed. She was quickly replaced by the two Arupan. Slipping her feet into a large pair of house slippers and tugging on a bathrobe, Rene opened the bedroom door.

"The furnace hasn't kicked on. I'll go and tell Bob." She said before closing the door. As she padded her way through the kitchen, she became aware of things staring in the windows. Things with large red eyes, things scratching the windows. She clutched the robe tighter to herself and nearly flew down the basement stairs.

"Bob!" She cried, running to his side of the basement. The figure buried under blankets didn't move. "Bob?" She shook him, gaining no response. Removing the blankets, she found him curled into the fetal position, a cobbwebby like material gathering on his closed eyes.

The scratching sound outside grew louder, and was joined by screams. The basement door creaked open and slammed shut as the two Arupan, Luc carying Conan, bounded down the stairs. "Scary Scary Scary!" Gwy wailed.

"Scry!" Conan agreed, clinging to the Snake, who pried him off of her hand handed him to Rene.

"Up." She commanded Bob. The man didn't answer. She bit him on the calf, to no response. ". . ." She blinked a few times before turning to the rest of the group. "We're all going to die, you know." She said seriously. "It appears that our beloved Uncle was keeping them away."

The room fell silent. Even the cries from outside stopped. "You... You can talk!" Gwy cried. Luc nodded.

"Never saw the point before. It's boring here." She said, then crawled on Bob's bed. One by one, each child followed her and snuggled up to their uncle. There was a loud crash upstairs, and heavy footsteps crossed the floor. The basement door was thrown open, and the footsteps crashed down the basement steps. All ducked under the blanket as the footsteps approached. But Conan, either being very brave or very curious, threw the blanket off of his head.

"Mommy!"

Conan is simply amazing. Now that he's started to talk, there's no stoping him. He repeats nearly everything said to him, with some difficulties, but his word bank is large.

What's even more amazing is how much he comprehends. If I ask him how he's feeling, he'll answer with "Good!" or "Cold!". If I ask him if he's hungry, "Milk!" "Bobo!" I'm thinking that Bobo is peanut butter, which he loves.

I'm trying to teach Conan more name words. Here's a cute little list of his pronouciations:

Rene: Weenie
Luc: Wook
Gwy: *Screech, and grabbing motions*
Bob: Unba
Jeane: Mommy!
Raekon: Wubbie

And some people from the HQ:

Korini: Korny
Manten: Matey
Seshomoru: I just got a look for sayiing this.
Rune: Woone
Tenshi: Tenny

I finally got Conan to attempt saying Sesshomaru: "Se-Seso-Goggy." And he won't say anything else. Goggy. He's so cute.

Other than talking, he just scoots around and crawls. He doesn't want to walk yet.

December 4th

The day was today!

I was sitting in the living room, watching cartoons on 26. Conan gave me this terribly dirty look, stood up on his pudgy little legs, and walked to the TV.

And promptly turned it to PBS.

December 10th

I don't understand. The day started out so well. And now, I'm just holding onto my pillow and sitting on the front porch, waiting.

Just hours ago, we were sitting, singing, decorating our christmas tree. Sure, I argued a bit with Rene over our religious differences, but even that turned out okay. Christmas is for family, not for religion. And we were sitting, and drinking our hot chocolate, and sitting..

And then SHE had to DESTROY my family! I HATE HER, down to the firey pits of my soul!

That, that horrid b***h just waltzed into my house like she owned it, and demanded that Bob return with her! I know Bob loves her, but he couldn't go back! He just can't! Why can't she see that?

And so she throws a little temper tantrum and storms out, and Bob goes after her. I hear her head off, then Bob just starts to scream.

Then he's gone. I don't know where.

And I'm scared of the dark.

Return

Rene wondered how she got into these sort of messes. Really, she wasn't a bad person. She respected her elders, she behaved. But there she was, sitting on the loveseat in the living room and trying to hold Bob's arm on untill Jeane brought more bandages.

It had started out early in the morning. Rene was asleep on the couch, as Luc had ursurped her place on Jeane's water bed. Of course, the Snake was cold blooded, so the warmth was needed. And after Jeane brought down several blankets it was quite snug. She had fallen asleep and was resting peacefully when there was a soft knocking on the door. The knocking was followed by scratching, and a very hoarse voice calling for 'Lish to open the door.

Like a horse let out of the paddock Jeane flew out from upstairs. She unlocked the locks and threw open the front door, and Bob fell to the floor. Jeane gasped before trying to tug him up. Bob moaned.

"M'arm." He groaned. Jeane gasped.

"What did you do to yourself?"

"Dn't do it to m'self." He muttered. "R'member th't h'lf? The one tha' you liked, and you-"

"I remember him, Bob." Jeane said, pushing back his hair.

"Well, he ripped my arm near off."

There was a rustling as Jeane dragged her elder brother up and onto the loveseat, then she started out of the room. Rene sat up and stared at him. The man was in sorry shape; his left arm was hanging on by perhaps an inch of skin and meat, there were gouges over his chest. Bob looked at her and smiled.

"Hey." He called hoarsley. "Can you prop me off the couch?" Rene crawled to his side and held his back from the couch. There were two vertical rips along his back. "Thanks, kiddo." He closed his eyes and grimaced. "I'm all banged up. My arm..." Rene held Bob's arm to his body.

"You'll be fine." She said. Bob laughed.

" 'Course I will be. Jus' need to rest." His head fell back. Jeane entered the room a few moments later. She saw Rene and stopped, eyes widening. She took a deep breath before she returned to Bob's side.

"Sweetie, I need your help here." She said. Rene nodded.

"Just tell me what to do."

Between the two of them they bandaged the wounds and managed to tie the shoulder in place. Jeane shot a look at Rene. "I can't do this, okay?" She closed her eyes and placed both hands on Bob's shoulder. Her hands glowed for a moment, and Bob sighed in releif.

"Thanks, love." He murmured, gently caressing Jeane's face. "You're not like her. Not at all." Jeane held his hand.

"Good."

Conan's loving having so many people around. Gareth will just steal him from me and run away.

Which is good. I've got a job interview soon. Gareth said he'll take care of Co and Rene for me for a bit. Of course, Rene kinda hates him. Don't know why, Gar's such a wonderfull person.

December 22

Conan's trying to adjust to having another baby in the house. He's doing well, but only because Bob's spending a lot of time with him. Draco's just a total time hog.

They got into their first fight yesterday. Draco was sitting in my lap, petting his hair and- WHAM! Conan pushed him out and craweld up.

Draco looked at me with tears in his eyes, then he started to snarl and all fingers burst into flame. I stood up and held Conan in one arm and swooped down and picked Draco up with the other. Conan was trying to slap Draco, and I got a few bad burns from his flamy fingers.

Took Conan out for a while today, just to spend some time with him, I feel bad, what with all the newer arivials. So we suited him up in his little bear suit and went out in the snow and slid around. He didn't even mind the suit.

Came back in and Draco was napping with his little dragony plush. So Conan and I unsuited and ate some cookies and I read him a few chapters of 'The Hound of the Baskervilles". He liked that a lot.

Draco woke up then and joined us. He fell back asleep after one chapter. Apparently it's boring to him. Conan gave him a very dirty look.

"More?" He asked when I stopped. I told him we'll read more chapers tomorow, and he smiled.

January 3rd

My best friend gave me back my infamous Sherlock Holmes book. Made in 1930, the year old Doyle died. Smells like... old book. Nice.

After I picked up the book, I stopped at the supermarket to get trinkets for Draco. He gets quite angry when Conan and I spend, oh, say, three hours reading books. The little trinkets that are only like a quarter a peice make him disapear to parts of my room and he never returns. It's mildly disturbing.

Co and I finished Hound of the Baskervilles, and I think we'll start on a study in Scarlet tomorow. It's great to have someone to read with.

January 5th, Conan sneeks out

It was late at night, Conan knew that much. Jeane was sleeping with her bed, curled up between Lilac and Rene. Stretching as far as his little arms could reach, he grabbed onto the top of the rail on his crib. Straining eveyr little muscle as much as he could, he managed to pull himself halfway up on the bar.

There was a noise from the other crib. Draco looked at him with a mildly disturbed look on his little face. "Twying to get out." Conan whispered. Draco peered at him, then streched himself up to his own crib. Having more strenght than Conan, he pulled himself out of his crib. He balanced on his rail, then jumped into Conan's crib. Both peered at Jeane's bed, but no one stirred. Draco gave a giggle before boosting Conan out of his crib and into a pile of laundry.

Conan did wonder why Draco was helping him. He and the scaly monster didn't get along well. But Draco was making his way over to Jeane's door. He motioned for Conan to come near, and he boosted the boy up to the door. Conan opened the door, and both children fell on the floor. Draco giggled again.

A few minutes later both babies were down the stairs. Draco's intetions became clear as he made his way to the fridge. Conan turned towards the living room. Underneath one of the coffee tables was a pile of books. He opened one book and focused on the first word. T-H-E. T-t-t-ache-ache-ache- eee- eee- eee- Tache? Hmm. He'd never heard that word. Skipping to the next one, D-O-G. Dog? Yes, there was a picture of a dog on the page.

Though Lilac had not learned her lesson well, Conan had learned a lesson of his own. He was bound and determined to learn what the squigglies ment. Draco padded in after a few more minutes, carrying a handfull of cookies and dragging the milk jug. Conan peered at him, frowning slightly. Draco offered him a cookie, then using his flamy fingers, he burned off the top. Dipping in a cookie, he smiled at Conan.

Conan smiled back, charmed. Draco seemed nicer now. He patted the couch beside him, and Draco curled up beside him. Tracing under the words with his little fingers he sounded out each one.

"T-he dog r-aaaann." He said slowly. Draco blinked at him and patted him on the arm.

January 11th

I just realized that Conan's grown up so much since I first got him. He walks with strong little legs, instead of scooting around. He speaks very well, but with me constantly correcting his grammar, he should be able too.

And he reads. Sprites above, he reads. He's so wonderfull. It's like he's my own blood son. I couldn't love him any more, even if he was my blood son. He's my baby.

January 21st, Grouchy Conan?

Conan's temperment has been rather strained latley. Not even new books have helped him out. If I try and hug him, he pushes me away. If I try and play with someone else, he gets mad and screams for attetion. He'll spend hours doodling on paper, then rip the paper apart and cry.

Terrible twos, perhaps. But for his personality to change so, it's very disturbing.

But, the worst thing he's done latley was to Draco's Daggie. Draco was playing with Daggie, as nice as can be, and Conan grabbed it from him. Draco asked for it back in his usual way, he hissed and made angry gestures. Conan gave him a look and ripped the wing off of the plush before tossing it back. Draco started to scream, and I was forced to give Conan a spanking and a time out in his playpen. Then I sewed the wing back onto Daggie.

I had a little talk with Conan about his mood. He called me, and I quote: "Big stupid fart head." I threatened to wash his mouth out with soap and he glared at me. No more angry words were said, though.
