Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not into your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
I like that passage it has got me through many problems.

I know that psalms 23 is really popular but I found the psalm before it, number 22, to be VERY moving. I was reading it and it just kind of hit me that... wow this was written hundreds of years before christ was born and it's just so amazing. There's a chapter in Issiah that was also very prophetic of christ but I can't remember which one at the moment.

Here's some examples from Psalms 22 though;

"My God, My God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from the words of my groaning?"

"They cried to you and were saved; in you they trusted and were not disappointed."

"He trusts in the Lord; let the Lord rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him."

"Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced my hands and my feet."

"They divid my garments amoung them and cast lots for my clothing."

Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. KJV

What do you think the Lord is trying to say here?
To not hold your treasure on earth but in heaven and to follow God not the world.

Psalm 40:1-4 I waited patiently for the Lord and He inclined to me, and heard my cry.
2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps.
3. H has put a new song in my mouth - praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will turst in the Lord.
4. Blessed is that man who makes the Lor his trust an does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

This tells me that I am saved and he hears me when I cry out his name as I wait for an answer I do not worry. And also not to turn to the people who think they have everything but do not have God. It comforts me.

well here is a verse when things are going bad and all you want to do is give up on everything including life in general...

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. Psalm 27:14
Misty this really speaks to me.

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:30 KJV
In a world where women are suppose to be beautiful and wear the right clothes and wear the make up and forget about God is worshipping yourself or the world. I really think the media should be saying these words instead of saying women need to be almost starved looking, blonde hair and perfect. Who can measure up?

It is very interesting how all the books correlate to complete a time line for man kind.

"What a man desires is unfailing love" -Proverbs 19:22 NIV
I think this is such a beautiful reminder that god gives us that love if we accept it. We don't have to ask for his awesome love, it's there allready. We just have to grab a hold of it. A youth pastor once said that god is always chasing you through your life, he is always a step behind you calling for you and crying and begging for you to stop and turn around and be safe and secure in his arms. And this passage reminds me that god is my source of unfailing love. We all desire the feeling to be needed and wanted. If we could just learn to stop and turn and look over our shoulders and stop running from what we desire most, it could be ours. It could be ours in a heartbeat. And everyday i am reminded of this. And everyday i stop and think about god's amazing love. For the whole world. And how he is dying to share that with everyone.

That is really neat to think of God that way.

Behold, the LORD'S hand is not so short
That it cannot save;
Nor is His ear so dull
That it cannot hear.
But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God,
And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.
For your hands are defiled with blood
And your fingers with iniquity;
Your lips have spoken falsehood,
Your tongue mutters wickedness.
No one sues righteously and no one pleads honestly
They trust in confusion and speak lies;
They conceive mischief and bring forth iniquity.
They hatch adders' eggs and weave the spider's web;
He who eats of their eggs dies,
And from that which is crushed a snake breaks forth.
Their webs will not become clothing,
Nor will they cover themselves with their works;
Their works are works of iniquity,
And an act of violence is in their hands.
Their feet run to evil,
And they hasten to shed innocent blood;
Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity,
Devastation and destruction are in their highways.
They do not know the way of peace,
And there is no justice in their tracks;
They have made their paths crooked,
Whoever treads on them does not know peace.
A Confession of Wickedness
Therefore justice is far from us,
And righteousness does not overtake us;
We hope for light, but behold, darkness,
For brightness, but we walk in gloom.
We grope along the wall like blind men,
We grope like those who have no eyes;
We stumble at midday as in the twilight,
Among those who are vigorous we are (X)like dead men.
All of us growl like bears,
And moan sadly like doves;
We hope for justice, but there is none,
For salvation, but it is far from us.
For our transgressions are multiplied before You,
And our sins testify against us;
For our transgressions are with us,
And we know our iniquities:
Transgressing and denying the LORD,
And turning away from our God,
Speaking oppression and revolt,
Conceiving in and uttering from the heart lying words.
Justice is turned back,
And righteousness stands far away;
For truth has stumbled in the street,
And uprightness cannot enter.
Yes, truth is lacking;
And he who turns aside from evil makes himself a prey
Now the LORD saw,
And it was displeasing in His sight that there was no justice.
And He saw that there was no man,
And was astonished that there was no one to intercede;
Then His own arm brought salvation to Him,
And His righteousness upheld Him.
He put on righteousness like a breastplate,
And a helmet of salvation on His head;
And He put on garments of vengeance for clothing
And wrapped Himself with zeal as a mantle.
According to their deeds, so He will repay,
Wrath to His adversaries, recompense to His enemies;
To the coastlands He will make recompense.
So they will fear the name of the LORD from the west
And His glory from the rising of the sun,
For He will come like a rushing stream
Which the wind of the LORD drives.
"A Redeemer will come to Zion,
And to those who turn from transgression in Jacob," declares the LORD.

"As for Me, this is My covenant with them," says the LORD: "My Spirit which is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your offspring, nor from the mouth of your offspring's offspring," says the LORD, "from now and forever."

Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

in no way alarmed by your opponents--which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God.

For to you it has been granted for Christ's sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake,

experiencing the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear to be in me.

Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion,

make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;

do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,

who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,

but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.

Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,

so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling;

for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

Do all things without grumbling or disputing;

so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world,

holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain.

But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all.

You too, I urge you, rejoice in the same way and share your joy with me.

one cool thing i was reading in II kings was the first example of solomon's wisdom. check it out for those of you who havent read it before. NIV.

[II KIngs chapter 2 v. 16-28]

16:Now who prostitutes came to the king and stood before him. 17:One of them said "My lord, this woman and I live in the same house. I had a baby while she was there with me. 18:The third day after my child was born, this woman also had a baby. We were alone; there was no one in the house but the two of us.
19:"During the night this woman's son died because she lay on him. 20:So she got up in the middle of the night and took my son from my side while i your servant was asleep. She put him by her breast and put her dead son by my breast. 21:The next morning I got up to nurse my son-and he was dead! But when I looked at him closely in the morning light, I saw it wasnt the son I had borne."
22:The other woman said, "No! The living one is my son; the dead one is yours."
But the first one insisted, "No! The dead one is yours; the living on is mine." And so they argued before the king.
23:The king said, "This one says, 'My son is alive and your son is dead,' while that one says, 'No! Your son is dead and mine is alive,'"
24:Then the king said, "Bring me a sword." So they brought a sword for the king. 25:He then gave an order: "Cut the living child in two and give half to one and half to the other."
26:The woman whose son was alive was filled with compassion for her son and said to the king, "Please my lord, give her the living baby! Dont kill him!"
But the other said, "Neither I nor you shall have him. Cut him in two!"
27:Then the king gave his ruling: "Give the living baby to the first woman, do not kill him; she is his mother."
28:When all Isreal heard the verdict the king had given, they held the king in awe, because they saw that he had wisdon from God to administer justice.
