"That's alright," Ren said with a weak laugh. "I doubt that I'd be able to ride you again just yet anyway." She slowly limped over a few feet and laid back down on the ground as carefully as she could. She had guessed to herself that she also had a few broken ribs among other things, so there were only a few positions that she could semi-comfortably lay in.

Ronin followed Ren a laid down near her. "Your wounds are healing nicely. How are you feeling otherwise?" he said as he turned his head around to preen a few feathers from his wings. A sudden breeze caught him off guard and sent a chill through him. The temperature and weather had stayed mild during their stay in the mountain, a few showers, but nothing big.

Still like crap, she thought to herself, but out-loud she said, "I'm doing ok." Ren's raised her ears upward as the wind picked up. Fortunately the weather had been pretty good while they had been trapped up there, but if it took a turn for the worse they might be in some trouble. "Hey, Ronin," she said, "I know I may have asked you this before, but after that day when we first met, how long did it take you to learn how to fly?"

Ronin looked straight at Ren before setting his head down on his paws. "Truthfully? After I left the company of everyone there, I went off completely alone for a long time. I determined that I would stay all alone until I knew how to fly perfectly." He looked up at her, his chin still resting on his paws. "I guess you might be able to tell...I still haven't quite perfected it."

"Sou ka?" Ren replied in mild surprise, looking at him thoughtfully. "You seem to fly pretty well to me. After all, you got us all the way up here, didn't you?" she said with a smile, trying to cheer him up. "That's a large feat in of itself."

Ronin raised his head a little and stared at Ren expressionlessly. Slowly, he began to smile. He leaned over and licked her cheek gently. "Thank you...that means a lot." Ronin didn't like being open and vulnerable. He liked it much more when he could pretend to be completely confident. But he wanted so badly to be honest with Ren and let her see the real Ronin.

Ren smiled as Ronin licked her, her ears twitching lightly. It was a good twitch though. Her tail slowly came around from behind her and paused to rest atop of Ronin's back. "You know, I would have never imagined being this close with another modifox," she commented quietly, a faint blush arising underneath her fur. "It's... nice."

Ronin swallowed hard. "Ren, there's something I want to tell you." He paused for a moment. A few light drops of rain began to fall softly about them. Ronin ignored it. "But I'm a little afraid of how you might respond." He took a deep breath. "Ren, I think I'm fa-" Just then a huge bolt of lightning cut him off and startled him enough to make him even more nervous. The rain suddenly began to pour. 'Not now!' he thought in annoyance.

Ren squinted up at the sky as the rain began to pour heavily upon them. "Well, at least our water supply won't run out," she remarked, trying to be optimistic. Normally lightening didn't bother her much, but being this high above the ground they were a lot closer to the source than usual. She ducked and shut her eyes as another flash of lightening went through the clouds over-heard, accompanied at the same time by a clap of thunder. "Perhaps we should move closer to the mountain-side, she suggested, shifting uncomfortably. Out in the open as they were made them more like sitting ducks. "Ronin, it might hurt, but try to keep your wings tucked in tight. I don't want to see you blown off the side if the wind picks up." She didn't want to sound fussy, but she was seriously worried with this storm and all.

Ronin nodded, pushing his thoughts to the back of his mind. He did as Ren had suggested and tried to keep his wings close. It irritated him a little, but he decided it would be best not to get blown away. He laid down as close to the mountain side as possible, but the ledge above didn't provide any covering from the rain. As soon as Ren had laid down, he didn't hesitate to wrap himself around her, trying to block out as much rain from her as possible without hurting her.

(Aw... XD How cute.)
Ren snuggled up into his side (as much as her body would allow her to anyway) and closed her eyes. His fur was still so soft and warm, even with the pouring rain. "Arigato," she said quietly before giving him a tender lick. Truthfully she wouldn't have minded staying like this forever.

Ronin sighed contentedly as he gently licked Ren back. "Anything for you," he said softly. He smiled and rested his head. Despite the pouring rain, he soon drifted off to sleep.
